My sister has a dell which is pretty nice. Don't know exactly how much she paided for it, something around 500-600 range. Plus dell lets you pay monthly if u want to. It has 1 GB ram and I believe a 80GB HDD. I would check that out if you are looking for a pc.

If you are not in boycotting CC right now, try this:

It is good just for checking email/word proccessing. I am on mine right now. I bought it as a second computer for work/night classes (nothing graphic intensive). It comes with 512 RAM but I bought the second 512 for $25 and installed it myself (it runs about 32 will shipping online if you don't have a local retailer that carries it). If this is a second computer for you that you won't need for any intensive processing, there is really no reason to get something more expensive.
Good luck,
T

If you want a notebook that will play Bioshock at any decent framerate you'll going to have to spend around $1000-1500.
To the OP, I saw a deal in this week's best buy ad for a gateway 17" for $599.99, comes with a gig of ram and like 120 gb hdd.
Here it is, though it's listed at $650, but in the ad it's $600.

If you're going to do is use it for the internet, office and no games, any notebook in the $600-700 range will be fine. Might need to add some ram and you would be able to do anything but hardcore gaming on it.

Just keep your eye out for Dell deals. They run $300 off $1000 and $500 off $1500/1700 about once a month. Occasionaly they stack with double ram and other coupons.
