Ok, I noticed recently I was having some issues with my PSP randomly shutting down when I plugged in a power cable. Now, it won't hold a charge at all. I'm assuming the battery is dead (still the original), but I just wanted to make sure it is not something else.

I can still use it with a USB power cord (I have one of those USB cables that also acts as a power cord).

Any DEALS on PSP batteries? Is EBAY a good route, always hesitant with EBAY for batteries.

If you take out the battery and plug it in will it work?

I'd also be wary of ebay batteries.

It works fine if no battery is in and the A/C is in....also works without battery in it, as long as it is plugged in.

I'm assuming a dead battery, but I will NOT pay $40 for a new battery, since that is BS robbery. I see EBAY has some for $10ish.

by the way what do you plan on doing with your dead battery. cause if you were just going to throw it away I'd give you 5 bucks if you send it my way. (plan on using it as for a project)
.

im me if you're interested

I'll let you know....That would be fine though. I ordered a new battery on EBAY, so I'll send you a PM when that arrives and I can confirm that is the problem.

Wary of eBay batteries is only half the issue. Read these links about third-party batteries . . .

Yes, I trust PSPFanboy. I have not found anything to be greatly incorrect on the site that was not stated as "rumor" in their post.

Well, my EBAY battery has been working rather good. I also use a 3rd party USB charge cable at work sometimes, and that works. Although, this is all with just music listening at work...no UMD spinning.

Companies make a fortune on accessories due to high profit margin and uneducated consumer paying absurd money for them. Things like ink, usb cables, printer wires, memory card batteries and etc. That's doesn't mean you should buy every third party items, research is required. Some of companies cut too many corners to make a profit, as result, quality is drastically reduced. Make sure there is some sort of quality control on it.

These third party battery are pretty reliable in deal extreme. The low cost and free shipping is icing on cake. Watch out for deceptive practices. Many of photos included 1st party pictures, but when you get them in the mail you get 3rd party accessories.
