"Demo" was stolen and uploaded from the upcoming Game Convention in Germany.

Pretty widely available.
Be warned, it contains spoilers, like all the endings, etc.
It's probably the full game just 'cut up' so not everything is accessible.

I have been playing it for awhile now and it blows all the other ones out of the water as far as control goes. And it is one of the best looking psp games.

How long is the demo? I assume it would just be a small portion of the beginning of the game, but the OP mentions endings and spoilers.

People have already gotten the endings from it and the guy who ripped it said he removed about 400MB worth of textures and such. So I guess If someone felt up to the task, they could hack it and we could have the full game.

that sounds hopeful. I've always wanted to like the SH games, but have never been able to get into them, partly because of the controls.

The game is out. Did anyone get their copy and play it yet? Mine is in the mail from Lamestop. I got free shipping with SAVER, but they still shipped mine UPS 3 Day Select, so it'll be here by Friday at the latest.\\:D/
So how creepy was the demo? Was anyone able to guage its level of unhinginess?
It doesn't seem to me like someone could get that Silent Hill creepy feeling by watching it play out on such a small screen so I was curious if they were still able to pull it off. xD

The only SH game I ever played was SH2 on the Xbox and I didn't care for the control scheme. I thought combat was paticularly awkward.
I hope they fix those problems...

This is one game I am trying to avoid spoilers for as much as I can.
I will purposely be going down to the EB at the mall near my parents when I'm back in the country.
Silent Hill always gets my day one gaming dollar.

Got it in the mail today. I ordered via Lamestop's SAVER shipping and they sent it 3 Day Select instead of media mail like they usually do. Got here in 2 days instead of 3. Unfortunately I can't play it till the weekend but I'm so glad it got here early anyway. :D

I've played an hour or two. Some minor spoilers.
Something new you have to switch between worlds using a mirror. You know from past SH games where the walls are all bloody and the other where everything is like a normal day. Certain areas are blocked off in one to where you have to switch to the other. That sort of thing.
So far I think it's great, definetely better than The Room but that isn't saying much.

That spoiler is weird. I wish they didn't use a mirror to switch. That's too overt.

Beat it tonight. Very nice game, a million times better than The Room. It's not as good as 1-3, but it's still damn good, and that's even more surprising considered they outsourced the development to the people who made Sudeki for the Xbox. It stays very true to the SH feel.

Hmm... this is disappointing to hear.
Silent Hill needs a shot in the arm, like RE4 was for that series.
I love, love, love, love Silent Hill, but it all went downhill after 2.

Is it very much worth the $30 price tag? I'm a pretty big silent hill fan, so I assume for a fan it would be, but for a general consumer, is $30 worth it or wait till a sale/price drop to possibly get it cheaper?

Tried the beginning, all the way up to the hospital.
The controls feel chunky. I felt it was hard to move him on the PSP. Otherwise, it looks like a decent game. I would definitely wait for a price drop before picking it up though.

I found the controls to be very easy and responsive. I'm also used to the shitty controls used by SH and RE games.
The only reason why this game wouldn't be worth $30 is because it's 5 hours long. If you will be upset at purchasing a game that's that long for $30, then it's not worth buying at that price. Otherwise, it is.

Actually 4 was very long, if you tried to do everything you could.
1 was pretty short, 2 was longer, 3 was a joke.
I still have them all.. great games. But without a guide for some of the puzzles.. they were impossible...

Now Silent Hill 5 they're gonna ask for $60 for. That game needs to be at least 15 hours long for that price. But it wont, so wait for a price drop.

I would gladly pay $60 for silent hill 5 as long as it was atleast 10 hours. 15 hours would be like an added bonus.

Actually 4 was very long, if you tried to do everything you could.
4 doesn't count for all intents and purposes of anything related to Silent Hill. Hell, it originally wasn't even supposed to be a SH game.
And think of this game as RE Zero for the SH series. A prequel, does everything right according to the tried-and-true formula, with a few decent innovations, and adds a little bit to the storyline. 5 is far more likely to be something new.

word of advice: dont ignore monsters, especially on the world map!!
I tried avoiding them and had 3 of them chasing me everywhere!!

The gamespot review was not good at all. I can't believe after all these years, they still didn't fix the combat. That was the most irksome problem I have with the Silent Hill series...

shyt was never broken to begin with. You got a weapon and a monster, then u beat the monster with your weapon... that's all that matters.
and you can use your fists in this game, it's awesome!!!

Yeah it is Silent Hill Portable. What else could you ask for? I think they did a great job.
Pretty entertaining so far. The sounds are fairly creepy. Bothering me more then previous games had. :)
Is it wrong not to give him health and have him limping around all the time? I'm tight with my supplies...

I got lucky for Pricematch & use BB $10 off coupon Socom: Tactical Strike down $21.XX after taxes. Also, picked up Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicle. I'll go back get Silent Hill tomorrow. I'll wait for Disgaea and FFT drop down $20 :)

I remember in Silent Hill 2 you had to spin around to try to hit the monster. It was awkward.
If they still have that now, then I would say that they need to fix that.

too bad I cant pass it!!!
I got to the save rite before the boss... and I can beat the boss flawlessly with melee weapons!
but when I exit I get ganged up by monsters!!
I game over'd like 6 times already -_-... I am trying to preserve all my shotgun shells...
guess I gotta bust them instead...

I can't believe how pretty this game is for a PSP title. The flashlight effect is great. I only got to the hospital, but I'm expecting this to be my favorite if they keep on with the cool tie-ins with the first game. Like explaining that the "fog" is actually smoke and the air raid siren is supposed to imply amulance sirens.

This is honestly my favorite SH since the 2nd one. I would probably rank it above the first slightly, but below the second.
I'm only at the sanitarium so far, but I'm loving it. It has a ton of atmosphere for a psp title.

it's like u play thru the sanitarium, and u play the next stages and you're like "yo... where'd the dungeon go??"
also that part in the theatre where u change the backdrops n shyt in front of the mirror... I was like &^%!@ that is SO AWESOME!!
seriously this game is incredible!! I aint even beat it yet either...

Yeah the Sanitarium is huge too. Especially compared to the Hospital. First time I looked at the map I was like "holy Fuck !".
