View Full Version : What Should I Do With My PS2?

Ok, so I got two jobs recently, and in a week or two I'll be able to finally get myself a new Playstation 2 console (I want the online package and the newer model PS2). My PS2 is from May 2001 and works almost perfectly (very few DREs) and random controller failures, I think the controllers are the problem, as I've dropped them a lot.
I decided 20$ for a new Controller, 40$ for a network adapter, might as well get them with a new console at Best Buy for 150... So what should I do with my PS2? I don't want to Ebay it because I really want it to find a good home, any suggestions?

give it to the needy. I'm sure there's some less fortunate kids out there who would love to take it, and it will make you feel good.

for some reason i dont think cheapasses give to the needy... probally few cents to the bum, but not your ps2 to the little kids? ebay it if you wanted to, youll feel just as good as if you gave it to a kid.

Give it to a kid in your family, or a charity like someone mentioned. You could always trade it in at gamestop or EB towards store credit.

Might as well send it into Sony for a free tune-up before you either sell it or give it away.

Lots of times if you donate something to the needy you can write it off on taxes. I'm not sure if this would qualify though but it's worth a shot if you go that route.

Yeah have Sony fix it up and then give it to some family member who don't have one yet.

Send it into Sony to fix it, I got mine back within a week. Then give it to a relative, a nephew or a niece. BTW is that a Munak as your sig?

trade it into Gamestop for a GBA SP, you can get the cool classic one, and it will only cost like $10.

Hey, I really hope you go with the donation route.
I'd send it into Sony for the tune up and then donate the whole lot to a children's hospital. The kids that are in those places really need and deserve some form of entertainment.

Glad to hear you are donating. Once a year I go through and look for stuff I no longer need/use and donate.

I'm in the same situation... lol I wonder if I should donate my PS2 as well. My friends' playstation is messing up, and maybe he could use it for a while... until it dies... perhaps...

Give Sony a call and tell them that you'd like to get the PS2 checked for DREs under your warranty. They'll take it from there.

yea trade it to those stores for $6.29 and a gumball, but i guess u can do it if u really have nothing else to do with it.
