Hey guys. I'm planning on getting a used car and I like the Matrixs. Anybody have any prior experience w/ them and can tell me how they generally run and if they behave?

No, but I could tell you the Pontiac Vibe is the same car, and the plural of Matrix is Matrices ;)

domestics are bad, and they suck compared to overseas cars. well, if u get a used get a import, and matrices are not as cool as corollas, or get a civic and save some money. make sure you get a car with working AC. i have to have one with AC :P

I am a car geek and I will tell u that should be a pretty good car. Asian cars are always good. i would probably go for a civic over that but it is your choice. The only reason I wouldn't get 1 is it is slow and I like 2 drive fast!!

I can tell you to buy american to help the economy. unless you are buying it from someone who is going to put the money from the car back into the american economy.
Just get the version with 170hp.

Go give it a test drive to see if you like it, then test drive alot of other cars in your price range and see if you like it. Unless you are a "Baller" you might have that car for a while, so it's a good idea to pick up something you like. I know before I bought my '03 Mits Lancer, I tried out the Honda Civic,Kia Spectra,Pontiac GrandAm, and a bunch of others. I liked the Lancer because it was ultra cheap and I liked the way it ran and looked. Enjoy your new car!
My friend has one. It's okay if you like station wagons. The Matrix/Vibe was a joint venture between Toyota and GM, and my friend has experienced some quality issues with his Matrix. He's had his in the shop a couple times. Something about the clutch, and also he has a intermittent "burning" smell that no one can quite figure out what it is.
The backseat of the Matrix is odd. When I ride back there the high door sills makes me feel like I'm five years old again. Only my head sticks above the door and I'm over 6'. Kind of like I'm riding around in a big claw-foot bathtub.

My uncle and aunt have one, they love it, they haul there two huge dogs around in it too. I was very comfortable in it. Its a toyaot, so it should be reliable.

Personally I think its ugly, and if it had trouble getting up hills with people in it... I'm buying a Civic soon myself.

Not if Matrix is used as a proper noun. Which in this case it is.
And I saw someone up above posted about a civic. My advice is stay away!!!! Go for a nissan or toyota small car over a honda.

NO!! Why stay away from Honda??? I own 3 of them!! they are the shit!! They never break down etc. Nissan and toyota are good 2 but not any better than Honda. Personally I think the civic idea is great!!

My gf has a civic and it's the worst thing in the world. It fit and finish on the interior is terrible. It's either a '98 or '99. Of course hers could be so bad because of lack of maintenance.

My friend had a Civic and traded up to a Matrix, We rode from sandiego to LA in it and it's a cool car. basically its like the civic's bigger beefier brother.
The bac seat is a bit tight though but more comfortable than his civic because it's a 4 door. The one thing imports will always beat domestic cars on is after market parts and modifications, so if you like that sort of thing it's for you!

If you can afford it upgrade 2 an accord. Great cars, personally I think better than the civic, much better interior quality. New accord start at about $15k

lol... I could care less what car she's stuck with and I'm more than happy with mine.
*EDIT* But I can see how the accord would be a much better choice. They know they can sell the civics with everybody buying them with no care about the quality of the material used.
