Hey guys,
I recently learned about Gamepedia (http://bruji.com/gamepedia/) and Delicious Library (http://www.delicious-monster.com/) for the Mac, really nice programs that allow you to catalog your game collection. Unfortunately, I only have a PC at home, and searching for comparable tools for Windows yielded only Collectorz (http://www.collectorz.com/), which doesn't appear to be nearly as nice AND costs a ton.
I use DVDSpot (http://www.dvdspot.com/) to catalog my DVD collection and have been very happy with it, so a Web-based database like that would be nice, though I'd be fine with dedicated software as well. I have most of my game collection on IGN, but their system is ABYSSMAL, to put it mildly.
What collection systems are you guys using?

My video game collection is nowhere as big as my DVD collection, so I just needed something simple/functional.

It is simple, to be sure. Functional? That's debatable...But it's starting to look like the only game in town.
It amazes me that no one's developed a good game cataloguing site. There's at least half a dozen DVD collection sites.
1up.com has something like IGN.

I love that site. Last I checked though, they were debating the use of virtual console/xbla games. I don't know if those are in the database yet.
Easy to use...lets you print of lists of games you have (all or for a particular system). Also, when you are entering games into your collection it defaults to only search for games already in you collection. So if you had Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2 for the SNES and you finally found Super Mario RPG you would just pick SNES from the list of systems, enter Super Mario and Super Mario RPG would be one of the few (if not only one) to show up.
Also, they deal with regions of games. So if you are into Imports, it lets you track that collection as well.
You can look at my collection here (http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/collection.pl?&name=FleaMarketFinder&folder=Collection)if you like.

I use GameSpot's website to keep track of my games. I don't catalog DVDs or anything like that though.

If Delicious Library is the thing that puts your box art on shelves for graphical viewing, I seem to recall there was some Windows ripoff of that, but I can't for the life of my remember the name.
For now I just use IGN.

I use IGN, but I can't stand the usability issues of the site. Problem is collecting the data on the games to put together a new application.

I tried that Collectorz trial... it's pretty neat! Pretty organized, and it's fast...but for $40?! No thanks.
And on THAT note..I really had a hard time finding any type of full version on the net..if you know of 1..lemme know?
I have NO idea why in the world that costs $40..it's sick.

That looks promising, actually, but seems light on box art and is a little spartan in its design. But the database and search features do seem robust. Might give it a try.

I also tried the program over at http://www.citrusoft.net/
...it's ok. It's $30 instead of $40. But whatever.
I just can't imagine paying for something like this????? I would pay maybe $10 for a program like this..but $30-$40?! How do they figure THAT?! You are JUST making a list of games or movies or music or WHATEVER..Sick sick sick!

It's most ingenious feature is definitely the use of a web-camera to scan UPC codes.

That's what the program in the message above you has! I didn't try it, but thought that was pretty awesome!
$30 though?! Yuck!

1up.com has something like IGN.
Except 1up is missing nearly half the games ever released. It's not rare crap either, try adding Test Drive for Xbox and all you'll get is a suggestion for Test Drive Unlimited for the 360. Everything about 1up is half-assed.
IGN is the only that is pretty close to having everything in their database.

I have the Colloctorz full version Music collector, and I love it. I wouldn't be opposed to having the game version, but I am fine with IGN. I have more than double my games with cds, so it's much more useful.
Also note, I got Collectorz Music as a gift, so of course it's worth it.

I don't see why some of wont pay the 30 or 40. It takes time to write this stuff sure 10 bucks would be really really nice but 30 or 40 is a good price. Hell that rfgeneration.com looked like it was good and free. If I really wanted one and found one for 40 bucks that was good I would buy it. I was useing IGN but stopped because it was crap. Also I only used it to see what it was like. This stuff takes time to creat and test. That is if you are makeing the lists of every system and every game ever made. Thats just for the list. If you add cover art and info on the game thats more time. Then to keep it updated. 40 bucks is worth it as long as the program is well made.

True, and I am not adverse to paying for utilitarian software like this. I paid to register WeatherBug, I bought some DVD cataloging software (that I ultimately ended up not using), and I've paid for many other small programs. But it has to do its job well.
Moreover, the best DVD cataloging sites are free and are largely kept running Wikipedia style, through active user contributions, not by the original designer keeping it updated. There needs to be a game cataloging site like that.

1up's also doesn't allow you to put in Castlevania, for example, and select multiple copies to catalog at once (Symphony, Aria, PoR). That killed any chance of me using 1up's. I honestly don't mind IGN's database, and I keep my collection quite up-to-date with it.

I know we've talked about Gamepedia before, Tybee, but just to show off a little bit more of its capabilities, here's a screen shot of the full screen mode. Maybe I'll add some more screen caps later to show more features.

Yes. Don't pay attention to the value though as that's just pulled from Amazon or something. And I've completed more than 58 games, I just haven't gone through and marked them as such. :)
Oh, and it can spit out some decent web sites pretty quickly too, although this needs updated and I need to fix it so that GoDaddy's Google ads don't overlap at the top: www.shipwreckedgamer.com
The little blurbs on that page are pulled from Amazon as well, so that's not my doing.

wow. shipwreck has such a killer collection. I'm just curious, how do you manage enough money to always buy so many new games each week?
