Welcome to CheapAssGamer.com!

$50 is a lot of money. That being said, most new games simply aren't worth that much. We all hate feeling ripped off after dropping half a bill on a game, that soon becomes clear, was not worth it. If we avoided paying full price, we probably wouldn't feel as bad and, that's the whole idea behind this site, feeling better about ourselves.

Well, that's part of it, its really about stretching your gaming dollar further so you can play more games for less money. Myself and the rest of the CAG community search the web and try to find quality games at cheap ass prices.

This site is a work in progress (created May 2003), so bear with me while I figure this stuff out.

-CheapyD

p.s. If you are going to buy the game anyway, try to buy it through the "Cheap ass link" on my site. I get a small commission (and I mean small!) from every sale, but it pays for hosting fees and other expenses and it lets me know that people are actually making use of the site.
It also helps keep the future Mrs. CheapyD off my back.
Just kidding honey!

p.s.s. I would also like to thank Ben from www.BensBargains.net and my friend Robert for telling me about his site.
Although I don't know Ben, his site introduced me to the joy of deals and gave me the inspiration to create this site.

I am so glad there are others out there that feel the same as I did. I remember when I said that $50. to spend on a game is nuts and was ridiculed for it on game boards. People must really have money to burn. If the game is really good you don't mind spending the full price on it. When you plop down your hard earned cash on a game that is garbage it really hurts. My biggest example was MGS2. I know people love this game so don't flame me but I found it to be a big let down. It killed me to know I just burned fifty dollars on this really sad excuse for a game. I am so happy to find a site that is finally looking out for us gamers who are tired of getting ripped off. I will be more than happy to purchase through your link so you can score a commision. I already picked up two games from your link. They might not be the best games I bought but to find out at ten dollars a piece with free shipping is a lot better than hitting myself for paying full price. "CheapyD": thanks for looking out for people like me. People who love games but are tired of getting junk for full price.

I'm a new member and I gotta say that this site rocks! I already scored 2 free mags, and am about to buy 3 games for easily half the price that I would have otherwise. Awesome site...keep up the good work!

:) Thank you CheapyD for this great site, and if I wasn't so cheap I would donate through paypal. For now, though, I will stick to using your links to buy my games, and I will always check here first when going to buy.

:( Fact: The current trend in the video game industry is to make games shorter!

Of course there are exceptions, but if you stop to look you will see that it is true. More and more games are recieving tons of hype and then turn out to be 5-10 hours long, really easy or BOTH!

There will be those who say that if a game is good it doesn't matter how long it is, but I say BULL! $50 big ones is a lot to spend on a few hours of fun. Not to mention that too many poor saps buy $50 games then sell them to wallet raping game stores for 1/4 of what they originally payed just so the game store can resell it as new or for 3/4 of the retail price.

Game publishers want to hit us with lots of eye candy, and an emotional tug here and there then shortchange us on the quantity. I say stick it to em by not buying brand new games at full retail price. There are a ton of values out there and CheapyD is helping us find them. Send a messge to the gaming industry that we will not buy their hype. We want QUANTITY as well as quality.

:D Help stick it to the Gaming industry and support CheapyD by buying games at a value, and stop paying for overpriced, over-hyped games!

This is a fine site, CheapyD. Good idea and good execution.

I don't know if "sticking it to the game industry" is the main motiovation of this site. It's certainly true lots and lots of shovelware crap is peddled to the masses every day, but I personally don't mind putting down 50 big ones for a truly good game.

That said, CheapAssGamer is all about getting the most for your buck. There are lots of very cheap games that suck, of course, but there are also many games in the bargain bins/clearance aisles that are worth a look. I think the CheapAssGamer quality-minded spirit is exemplified by a willingness to try games others have overlooked. Niche/unique games like Ico or Freedom Force are perfect fodder for the true cheapass.

An example I remember is Mindrover: The Europa Project for the PC. It was a neat game that had you putting together robots with real AI to battle each other, race, etc. It was developed by a small firm called CogniToy, and it never got the attention it deserved. I wish I would've bought it when it was still on the shelves - now I can't find it anywhere, not even on eBay.

Anyway, that's my take on being a CheapAssGamer. It's all about the quality.

Yes, definitely, this site is so addicting. When the $100 Xbox Core situation forced the site to shut down for a few hours I kept checking when it'll be back up. Can't remember how many times I kept checking.

I've been using this sight for a while, and received all my new games here (except for collector's edition ones, or when I pre-order them) for $45 dollars or less. Thank you Cheapy, let's hope for many more years for cheapassgamer.com!
