1. Gamespot. Frequent updates, trustworthy sources, concise previews. By no means my favorite, but it's a good workhorse.

2. Gamespy PC. Updated only a few times a week, but features great commentary. Fair reviews that actually describe how a game plays.

3. IGN PC. Grandfathered on my list because I've been visiting it for so long. The quality generally sucks, the page is jumbled, and the articles are always 500 words too long. Even so, they get the occasional exclusive preview. On the plus side, the editors finally stopped misusing its/it's in the banner article headline...

4. 1UP PC games. Essentially a propaganda tool by GFW magazine. Still, they get the occasional exclusive and most articles have a snappy, concise style.

Removed from my list:

Destructoid. Aptly described as the "Fox News" of the videogame press. Besides monkeying around with Digg.com stories, they've been known to spread misinformation and give wonky ratings. Oh, and AdBlock doesn't effectively block their obnoxious banner ads for some reason.

PC Gamer (magazine). There's no need to pay for what you can get for free. None of the articles were very in-depth and someone always posts scans for exclusives anyway...

Any other good sites I'm missing? I actually liked how D-toid embedded videogame trailers right in their articles.

I go to http://www.firingsquad.com/ sometime. Most of their news are short, with longer articles for previews and reviews. They tend to concentrate only on action games and hardware.

If I look at any, it's gamespot.

PC Gamer fell off my list when they gave Vampire Bloodlines a bad review and gave Sacred (gag) RPG of the Year over it. Not to mention it's almost devoid of information.

Gamespy (sans the forums) always seems a day late and a dollar short when it comes to information.

As for sources you missed... you hit the big ones.

I go to Kotaku.com religiously. I was hoping that there would be more gamer/blogger sites on this list. Any more sites?

I used to get CGW but I found that it informed me of absolutely nothing that I hadn't already learned about on the internet weeks earlier.

Gamespot and Bluenews/Shacknews is really what I use for all gaming news, including PC.

I listen to a lot of pc gaming podcasts. GFW is my favorite, but I also listen to the PCgamer podcast.

Jeez Louise, Blue's News (http://www.bluesnews.com) of course!

The Shack (http://www.shacknews.com) is also good, but I'm really having a tough time getting used to their new design.

I like shacknews and bluenews; the former does a lot of console stuff too, but the latter seems more focused on PC, generally, imo.

Yes, as I believe "Chris In Cali" was trying to say, Blue has been around for a while, and that's probably part of the reason he's very PC-centric. His humor is also a bit subtle, but I like it.

Scary (of Shacknews) follows more console stuff (but the focus is still overall PCs, in my opinion) and is more biting with his humor.

Anyway, between those two, you're going to undoubtedly know 95% of everything going on in PC gaming.

I was really annoyed with the new design at first but it grew on me. I am still a bigger fan of the Bluesnews type style... simpler, more content on a single page...

I use Shacknews and Blues News primarily for my PC Gaming news needs, sometimes Evil Avatar. I also will check HardOCP for occasional hardware news.

Bluesnews of course. I like the fact that the page is mostly links with some summaries. Plus I like the links at the end of everyday.

I usually get all the PC game news highlights from Digg's gaming section.
