Is it possible to hook up PS3 to a LCD monitor that has no HDMI connectivity, and be able to play it in at least 720p.

Do I need a specify LCD monitor or some kind of cable to do this?

I think it goes like this: you need one that supports HDCP and you use a HDMI to DVI cable I believe

What the hell happened to "PC Games and PC Discussion"?

I bet you could find a converter to do that job. Or, sell your current monitor and purchase one that has HDMI. There are lots of 720p (that's at least 720 at lowest pixel side, widescreen, right?) LCDs for relatively cheap prices.

Exactly what I'm doing and it looks great.

Same here, except I got my computer, cable box and PS3 hooked up to the same moniter, through a hdmi switch which than uses a hdmi to dvi cable to the moniter. Great for somebody on a budget looking for a cheap solution.

I have my PS3 hooked up to my monitor via Component running 1080p granted my monitor is a Viewsonic 28in. Only if you are hooking the console up through the video card. If you are hooking it directly to the monitor then obviously it wouldn't make a difference since the videocard would never come into play.

Does anyone know how are we suppose to connect the speakers?

What kind of speakers do you have? I'm using my monitor for my systems and some shitty logitech speakers for the sound... I needed a couple things from radioshack to make it work, but... it works.

I have stereo speakers, but planning to get 5.1 speakers. I wonder where to plug it since monitor is not a TV.

well, how do those speakers plug into a computer or something? Like, do they have a plug like you'd find on headphones or....?

Doesn't it stretch your games vertically with the 120 pixel difference?

You can change the aspect from fullscreen to 16:9

Does the monitor have to support HDCP? I mean couldn't just get a lcd that has dvi and use a dvi to hdmi cable. Will the quality be lower if it doesn't support HDCP?

It should be speakers for PC. Or is there any speakers that could plug into PS3?

Never mind about the speakers, I found out that you could plug it to the PS3.
