I'm thinking about ordering some component cables for my GC. Do these plug in to the digital A/V out? I'm asking because I thought I'd heard at one point that Nintendo stopped making the GC with the component output. I want to make sure my GC is component-capable. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it does plug into the Digital A/V Out. This was removed in later versions of the console. Good luck finding the component cables, though. Nintendo stopped selling them on their online store once the GameCube removed the feature.

You can definitely find the cables, just not at a reasonable price. If you're willing to pay, though, you can find them on ebay.

Does anybody know if the Wii component cables has the same plug head that the GC cables do?

Thanks! I found a store nearby that has one set and they said they'd hold them for me. Someone give nwaugh a cookie!

Glad I could help, you've hooked me up indirectly with a fat pile of Circuit City clearance games. Sadly, the Wii component cables have a different plug.

Can you PM me the product number? The link isn't working for me and is returning the generic "Sorry" message. Thanks.

Thank you nwaugh. I guess I'm too late and they removed the sku completely from the system. No results via search. Oh well.

Hibiwa, don't give up... I took that product number and found a set or two. Hope they're available when I get off work tomorrow...
Anyhoo, whenever new cables come in I'd guess they'll update.

That links seems to be wrapped in that annoying "linksynergy" thing, which doesn't work here at work, so here is a partial link hopefully this time without that garbage:
productavail.asp?miles=50&sku=900572&zip=xxxxx
NOTE: put gamestop.com/ in front of that and replace the xxxxx with your zipcode, or the zipcode nearby which you want to do a search. I've set the distance from that point to be 50 miles ("miles=50"), but you can change that too if you want.

I checked a store that was listed as having "1 to 3" but I couldn't find the cables anywhere and when I asked they couldn't find it in their system either. I guess this is the usual problem of eb games/gamestop having a terrible inventory system. Anyone have luck finding one?

Well, that product locator webpage is only updated nightly. "1-3 in stock" probably just means 1 in stock. It's possible someone beat you to it. Alternatively, the clerk might not have fully understood what you were looking for. At my Gamestop, the clerk claimed just to have the generic, multi-system cables. Eventually, I found one hidden away in the back of all the used accessories. (Thanks nwaugh!) Try again, and maybe ask him/her to search by the SKU?
Slightly off topic, and out of curiosity... If you have a Wii, and Wii component cables, what advantage are these GC ones? The only thing I can think of is the Gameboy Player. (Which is why I got mine). Everything else Gamecube-wise can be handled at 480p by the Wii, no?

I tried another eb/gamestop that supposedly had stock of the cables ("1 to 3") and again they didn't really have any. I searched all the used equipment at the store, including in sections it shouldn't have been in (and indeed there was a lot of misplaced used stuff), but I couldn't find any. I then asked the worker there and they looked it up and their system showed them as having one, but he couldn't find any either, including looking behind the counter. The inventory system is a joke.

I see these from time to time here in Japan so I could *POSSIBLY* pick some up.
Could be a little pricey though, I think they cost about 3000 yen (about $28).

That's not expensive if you look at how much these things run on eBay.

I definitely got some of that when I was looking for them. They'd want me to buy the all-in-one component cables for Xbox and PS2, which (of course) don't work for the Gamecube.

The trained monkeys at the nearest Gamestop tried to sell me the Wii component cables. When I explained that there was a difference, the guy got a funny look and said "But the Wii and the Gamecube are practically the same thing!"
Oy gevalt. I found a set online, although I won't be getting it cheap-assed. Still cheaper than eBay, though.

so i got a bright idea. the reason why the component cables are showing up on the locator but not on shelves is b/c they were bundled with a used gamecube for sale. i recently met a really nice manager who searched the whole store for 10 mins (*allegedly*) for the cables b/c he saw that they were in stock on the computer. then suddenly it hits me, is it so far fetched that somone traded in a gamecube w/o the hookups and so some monkey just threw in the component cables to complete the gamecube package for sale? of course this means that now i would have to go through all the used gamecubes, which i dont think they will let me do, even if i bring my own cables to switch out. but maybe if preorder a few things and promise an awesome tellgamestop.com review they will let me mine for some gold. any thoughts?

Well, a manager at one of my GS searched and found a couple of stores that allegedly had them in stock and even had them ship them to his store. Very nice on his part. Unfortunately, they never showed up. Either the stores had the wrong type of cables listed as component or decided to keep them for themselves when they were told they had them. If anybody can find a set and is willing to send them to me I'll trade a $15 GS gift card for them.

But they were actually component cables? They had red, blue and green inputs? If so, how much were they tagged at?

You have to be careful because sometimes GS will label the cables incorrectly. For instance, when I scored my set, they also had another set showing in inventory. Come to find out, they were just the Monster Gamelink S-Video cables with the 900572 sku sticker.

Was there a second set? If so, can you help me out?
