good printer

Hey guys,
I'm in the market for a new printer. I'm starting grad school this week, and my sister just started law school.

I'm open to any suggestions, though I was leaning toward a laser printer because ink jets are such rip-offs. We don't really need color, unless there's a hot deal.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'd suggest any brother MFC model... they're all printer/scanner/copiers/mem card readers, some have fax too. They take BK41 black ink which can be had for about $2 a cart on ebay ($15 for 8 of them at the last ebay store i bought at). Fast, sleek, compact printers. And should cost less than $100.
