Edit 3: Target.com has changed the price, and my Google Cache page is gone.
If someone has a screenshot, post it and I will ad it.

Edit 2: Target has removed the item or changed the price. You can now use the Google Cached version (http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:aTm0SNn3qy0J:www.target.com/gp/detail.html%3Fasin%3DB000U9TXJ0=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us) for your printout and price match.

Edit 1:

Some Target, Walmart and Best Buy stores are reported to have these in stock and available for sale right now. There is a Sony Press Release (http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/09-05-2007/0004656949&EDATE=#) stating that.

CAG's are also reporting that Target, Walmart and Best Buy stores have been price matching the webpage printout (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-2/qid=1188893437/ref=sr_1_2/602-3195321-8271813?ie=UTF8&asin=B000U9TXJ0) from the Target.com site.

Also, here is the google cached version (http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:aTm0SNn3qy0J:www.target.com/gp/detail.html%3Fasin%3DB000U9TXJ0=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us) in case Target.com changes the price.

End Edit:

Target.com has this bundle listed for $169.99 In Store Only not available online.

PSP Slim Daxter bundle (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-2/qid=1188893437/ref=sr_1_2/602-3195321-8271813?ie=UTF8&asin=B000U9TXJ0)

So I guess you could print this out if they raise the price in store and see if they or another retailer would match it. Strange that they would discount this new bundle by $30.

This bundle is being released on Sept 10th and should be in stores after that.
It includes:
• Gaming System includes 1Gb Memory Stick, AC Adapter, PlayStation Portable System, Power Cord, Battery Pack
• Games included are Game: Daxter™ Video:Family Guy™ The Freakin 'Sweet Collection
• Features Slim, Lightweight Design

It's listed as OOS for all of the stores within 20 miles for me. Odd, considering it's new - or maybe it hasn't gotten to the stores yet?

Also, I'm pretty sure BB doesn't price match bundles... I could be wrong, though.

The bundle is all packaged together though, so its not like a random bundle. There is no reason why they would not price match. Chances are the Targets in your area just do not have the new PSPs yet.

I'm increidbly tempting to jump on this, even though I dislike family guy, didn't enjoy Daxter much, and never play the PSP I already own :)

Amazon.com has had this listed as a Sept. 10th release. PSM magazine confimred that date.

The bundles (Daxter and Star Wars Battlefront) have been priced at $199.99 while the system (nonbundle) is $169.99 and should be replacing the current package at that price.

I think the bundles include a 1 GB stick as well as the game they are named after. The Star Wars is a white or silverish system I think.

I traded my PSP in last week. They only gave me $60 for it (Gamestop), but I really want that TV-Out at 480p...EB is not yet (at all?) taking preorders for this.

I was just reading this last night in Game Informer, so hopefully I remember correctly. The Daxter version comes with a regular Ice Silver PSP, the game, a 1 gig stick and a Family Guy UMD. The Star Wars version comes with a Ceramic White PSP with Darth Vader silk screened on it and 2 SW games whose titles I forget. No memory stick in the SW pack.

Well some say the TV resolution will be at 480x272 max, youll basicially be playing the game with black bars surrounding the screen. so i wouldnt get my hopes up on any HD PSP gaming as of yet.

only what ive heard tho, and is still a great feature. but $60??? ouch.

Yes, the output is going to be what is called "postage stamp" meaning there will be black bars on all 4 sides due to the resolution of psp games. not worth trading in your old psp for $60 if you ask me, but the slimmer and colors are cool.

this is clearly an issue of a price mistake or a title mistake with the SKU/Product title. Happens all the time. I wouldn't count on this flying when it hits stores.

For games it's only 480p, for everything else it can also do 480i (most likely because the hardware would have to cost more to do 480i in games).

I seriously doubt people are going to be able to get this price on any widespread basis.

I'm trying to resist here as I have no problems with the current PSP design, but the slim is tugging at my wallet. $60 for the current PSP is kinda bubkiss though, would probably eBay it instead for hopefully a few more smackers.

I might hold off and see what kinda deals there will be on the plain jane version (non-bundled).

It would be nice to break it in with the new Syphon Filter tho...

Ok, so I don't know a whole lot about the PSP but apparently the bundle for $30 more is pretty nice considering you get a memory stick, a full game and a UMD movie (I won't be using that).

Could you also, in theory, use the Circuit City $40 off $200 for this?

Cancel that - turns out the employee I talked to was a fucking idiot. It just sucks that I had to drive all the way there to find out.

The target next door was scanning their bundles in, but the price rang up as $200, and they won't sell them until the 16th.

I just came back from target, they price matched the site with very little convincing. I also applied for a target card and got an addition 10% off. I bought the 3 year warranty, and psyclone screen protectors (work great, recommend them). Came out to $190 after florida tax.

also, LOVE the new system. Something about it feels more finished and less fragile. My old PSP I was always worried was on deaths door, this system feels more....solid.

I just took a printout of the Target deal to the Best Buy in Rockville, MD. They honored the pricematch on the website on the Daxter deal, and they had 10-12 systems left.

Don't ask if you can pricematch it. Just give them the printout when you checkout and say "I'd like to pricematch this to Target." That's what worked for me.

So far it is fun, although if you don't like 3d platformers I'm not sure how much it will do for you. I doesn't seem to have all the racing challenges that Jak 3 had (which is good in my book, since I didn't think the racing was that well done), but I'm only ~1 hour into it, so we'll see.

On my way home from work there is a Meijer, Best Buy, and Target. I stopped by all three on the way home with no luck. They seemed willing to PM, but none have these in stock. If you live within 30mi of Pontiac, MI don't bother looking at Target. I had them check them all.

I'm going to keep this printout on hand. When I do find one, I'm going to try hard to get the PM. Just because they didn't have them today doesn't mean they won't open boxes tonight or tomorrow.

Kind of a strange question, but those of you that managed to find one of these, do Daxter and Family Guy come in cases, or just sleeves? And is the silver finish like the original DS, or more like the DS Lite's glossy finish?

I've been thinking of getting a Slim, but this $169 has sealed the deal for me. I might PM it at Best Buy or Walmart and pick up Tales of the World while I'm at it.

I really wish they sold a non-bundle PSP for like $140. I'd be all over that, since I really don't like the idea of a SILVER PSP... :fridge: just... not.... sexy... enough....

Damn. I was originally going to wait until the $169.99 "piano black" unit came out because I didn't want the extras (would use the mem card and I like Family Guy but I could do w/o Daxter). This price error pretty much sealed the deal for me (if I can get it matched here). I was also hoping the Daxter was sealed so I could sell it and recoup a few bucks.

You guys are lucky to have Targets to do this price match business. Considering the Daxter pack is the same price as the standalone PSP, there's no reason to worry about Daxter being the pack-in game, whether it comes in it's own case or not, and whether Family Guy is a good show or not. At $169.99, you're basically getting all that at no extra charge--damn good deal if you ask me.

Exactly why I'm going for it... I was going to wait but if I can get the bundle for the console only price why not? Only thing is I don't know yet if my stores have them.

I was able to get one of the new psp's also for 169.99 at target. Had the print-out with me. Although it rang up at 199.99 the guy did some checking and finally said "I'll deal with it later" modded the price, and was extremely nice and even said he was considering one at that price. Great deal for those of you who can get it I wasn't initially bowled over by the silver, but the mem card, and the other stuff make up for the value, and the silver does look really cool. I also hear that Gamestop is going to have these possible tomorrow or Friday "(likely tomorrow) but they will be 199

Have any CAGs seen these puppies available in the Kansas City Metro area and/or been able to pull off a price match? I can't get out to check tonight but I will probably take a copy of the Target.com ad to either Wally World or Best Buy tomorrow evening.

woohoo...upon seeing the update in this thread i printed the target page out and headed over to the local Target in the fremont hub and was able to get the system for $169.99 with no problems. Just say "hey it says in stores right here" and hand them the printout. $184.xx out the door. Stupid tax :(
I don't want anymore credit cards than I already do so I skipped on the Target card with 10% off.

I didn't go over to the one by Newpark Mall but I'm sure if one Target in the area got 'em, then the other one did too. Confirmed via telephone call to the Fremont Hub, CA one. I just called them and they said they have 2+ things of them ( cases, I assume ). I am tempted to get up early and make the trip over there if no one has it in the morning. Very much worth it, in my eyes. The bundle is a great deal and the little lady will love having a new PSP.

Your not gonna be getting the web price but just to let you know i've called every Gamestop, Frys, Bestbuy, Circuit City, FYE, Target, Walmart, Costco in the whole south bay area (Palo alto to Fremont) today. The Target in Fremont is the only place that has it in stock as of today.

Now tomorrow might be different. Bestbuy gets shipments in tomorrow but they dont know if they will be getting them in stock. Frys says Friday, and Circuit City says Sunday. Most Targets should have them by Friday cause thats when they get more shipments in.

Hope this helps

the thing with glitches is you gotta jump fast

They just started being spotted today (?) by chance and the people who saw them just so happened to frequent CAG and/or SD. The employees are probably clueless about this at this point. I know mine was. Give it a few more days till other retail outlets start getting them and you will see this back at full price for sure.

After driving away from target, I was thinking I should have tried to get this at BB (do they even pricematch vs online sites?) so I could accrue some reward zone points, but then I remembered last time I went to get a pricematch they called the store and asked for stock and price, so I figured it's probably just best to get it from the source.

Under normal circumstances, no. Since many sites consider their website a seperate thing.

However, when it says "In-Store Only" probably, but really who's going to do anything about it

I'd think advertising that price as an in-store deal counts as false advertising. Purely from a logical standpoint, it is false advertising. How the law sees it may be a different story. But like you said, who's gonna challenge them?

But like you said, who's gonna challenge them? There's been plenty of times I've gotten something for cheap because it was on the wrong shelf or had the wrong price, and all I had to do was say nicely, "You know, if you don't honor your price it's false advertising..." I was hoping for something like that with this deal, but the employee hung up becfore I could try that line. Oh well. When Walmart gets it in, I bet they'll price match if the website doesn't get updated.

Best Buy in Auburn Hills has them. They aren't displayed...you need to ask for one. The associate walked it up for me and I gave the Target printout to the cashier. She price matched it for me, no problem.

The most amusing part about this though is that with CA sales tax and CA traffic it's more worth it for me to order this from Amazon w/ amazon prime rather than waste the time/money driving and paying the large sales tax. At most I'd end up saving $15 only not counting the time wasted and the chance of the deal getting rejected.

Yeah, I've felt iffy about the Silver as well. As a matter of fact, I saw someone on a bus playing with a Silver one, and after seeing how it actually looks in real life....uhh...i'm beginning to rethink the $30 discount justification I was set on. And judging from the limited success people have been having actually getting one for that price, I think i'll just wait and get a Piano Black one. Here's what I was thinking and might wind up having to try (assuming the Target PM fails)... (mods - Let me know if this is totally immoral and I'll gladly delete it. However, it seems less shady than many schemes I hear about)

Buy the Silver bundle at Walmart A for 199.99

Keep it sealed and take it to Walmart B the next day along with a printed copy of the Target.com page.

Ask Walmart B if they can refund you the $30 difference because you found a better price at Target. If they can't, you then have the option of returning the whole bundle (assuming you kept it sealed) or just keeping it for $199.

I'm hoping for no hassles with the PM but I'm not super-confident. If I can't get the silver bundle at 169.99, I'll probably just wait until the Star Wars one comes out.

so psp is really a was of money... as a CAG member, i only do what is best for a gamer, system is ok, game and movie not so ok, so just wait and the psp slim will sell on its own and cheaper later this year...

besides, my ds lite ends up gathering dust already...

Did you ever consider the fact that you just aren't the type of person handheld games are made for? Just because they don't suit you doesn't mean they're pointless.

Thanks for that. Silver is now completely off my list.

I can't believe how bad that looks...I thought silver was more like the GBA or older DS silver.

I saw 2 behind glass in the BB in Secaucus, NJ. Priced at the advertised $199. I did not buy or ask about PM, as I am very happy with my near-release 1001 unit.

Although I will admit that this is the ONLY bundle that interests me at all.

Got this price matched at circuit city without any problems, cept the manager didn't even know that they had it in stock until I showed it to him in the display case. Of course 2hrs into playing a dead pixel shows up, I swear that dead pixel wasn't there before... but exchange was hassle free(first time anyway, I've had up to 3 exchanges on a ds with another retailer, but they weren't willing to exchange it again after that)

I just tried walmart in Greenwood In. and the casher in elec. was going to do it but there register system asks for a CSM when there is a price ajustment over a certian dollar value . The CSM said that they do not price match stuff online and I told her and showed her that the printout states that it was store only with no luck. I'm sure if I really try I can get one of the many walmarts in Indianapolis to do it, but starting to rethink rather having a black one instead.

i work at wal mart, i have price matched many things for customers, not only are we trained to take a customers word for it on a price match (meaning we don't even need to bring in an ad) we don't need approval for a price match, unless its......i think its a 50 dollar difference, never had that big of a difference during a price match but that's what i know.

anyway, im in marion IN, never been to the greenwood location but it sounds like they have no clue what they're doing.

I'm not sweatin' it too much though because that paint job really is pretty poor. The champage gold psp paint was much nicer.

Glad they put that window in the front of the Daxter Pack so I could see the actual unit in there.

Has Sony announced an actual date for the Piano Black PSP-2000 model yet? I imagine they will try to sell through as many black PSP-1000s as they can first.

Called the BB in Rogers (Mpls area) and they said they had 8 in stock. Drove all the way out there and was told they couldnt sell them unitl the 16th (?!). I argued with them, showed them that Amazon was shipping them, showed them several forums where people were buying them - no joy. Checked the Target next door, as well as the Gamestop. Same tune. Might just have to wait for the Star Wars bundle as I know I like that game, and the tacky silk screen looks like it can be removed by replacing the cover. Not a big deal if not anyhow, as I know I will buy the SW game, and it's retail is $40 - so a $10 savings.

couple more pics to show that the silver isn't really the demasculinizing gem some of you are making it out to be.

Things I like about it are that I can see that the dpad/buttons are see through (it was pretty hard to tell with the black in most pictures I found, leading me to wonder if the buttons were really clear at all...until I found side shots), and that the center strip around the system is a gunmetal color.

Things that bother me even though I don't think they should. The UMD hatch on the left side (the other side from the opening notch) doesn't quite sit flush with the rest of the system. It's very very very very slight, but it's definitely not as "closed" as the notch side is. Buttons are a little noisier than I thought they'd be. Still not very noisy, but it is *slightly* noisier than my DSLite. The battery cover was kinda hard to take off at first.

Things that are....different for me. The placement of the buttons and d-pad and stuff somehow feels a little cramped to me compared to my DS Lite. Probably cuz of the rounded edges at the bottom that makes the system more shallow to feel in the hands, unlike the DS Lite which goes straight down, and basically I can rest the corners of the system in my palms.

Things I think they should have done. Make it a brushed aluminum material! The silver, and in japan the three extra colors (purple, blue, pink) would just be crazy good looking if the casing had a brushed aluminum finish to it. It would also feel great holding it, though it would probably add to the weight.

Things that i never knew about the system. It's just about the exact same height and thickness as the DS Lite (when closed).

Oh yea...I went to look for some games at the Target in Newpark Mall, and didn't see any of the PSPs there. I don't know if the Fremont Hub Target still has any left. Just letting people know.

I got mine at the Best Buy in Elmhurst, Queens. The Target store which was right across from Best Buy in the mall did not have them. And the Best Buy by 23rd and 6th did not have them either.

Your best bet is to enter your zip code in the store locator for Best Buy and Target stores and call them up.

The Best Buy at Elmhurst price matched the Daxter PSP Bundle without any problems. There was only one more system on the shelf but they prolly have a lot more in stock in their inventory room.

Did they had problems 'bout the printout? I tried my local CC, but they said they need an actual Sunday ad or some advertisement in print form of the deal. Personally, the people at my local CCs are jerks.
No, for me they didn't. But to be fair, the girl said "We really don't PM online deals," (which this really wasn't, BTW) "but it took me so long to find (the on-sale game Socom Fire Team Bravo 2), that I'll do this for you". I guess it would be YMMV.

I wound up picking one up at the Target in Fresno CA (River Park location). When getting the system out of the case, I broke out the ad & asked the associates to check what the price was. They confirmed a $199 price. I then brought up the fact that the website stated that the price was only good in the store & that I would have bought one online if I was able.

After around 15 minutes, I did get the call back for price match to the $169 price. I don't know how many more they will allow though as the price associate thinks it was probably a pricing mistake on the website (which I didn't argue...why place a new system on sale for $30 less than MSRP)

What type of cable do you think would fit in there? Does it look standard or specialized? Does the manual read what type of outputs the PSP supports?

it's a special plug made for the PSP
I didn't read the manual so I don't know exactly what kinds of formats, but I think there are video/written previews/impressions of stuff like that on I think joystiq or kotaku or something and ign.

From what I remember though it can support both 4:3 and 16:9 display, as well as display 480i and p. Games are only supported through the component cables, whereas Movies and everything else can be output through composite/s-video along with component.

Judging by the video I saw, the PSP must be smacked pretty hard to get the old battery out of the new PSP. The man couldnt get it out by prying. He had to hit the unit against his palm pretty hard to get it out. I think I saw it on a pandora battery vid. Do a search for pandora and psp slim.

The first Wal-Mart I tried to match at pooed on it. The second one worked fine.

My only complaint is the packaging. You're basically forced to destroy the plastic tray holding the PSP in order to get everything out of the box. Not a huge issue with this bundle (in my opinion) but if the Star Wars one comes the same way and people want to keep it in mint condition, it'll take some finesse.

Off to cancel my Amazon preorder.

I called two today and they both said Sunday. I would bet real cash that they have them and they are simply waiting on them for the ad. I am going to try to force them to honor the web price, but who knows...

They do have them in stock, funny.. I went to one today and I was like "Pstt, do you have any PSP Slims in stock in the back? >_>" and then they said "Sorry man, we don't have them.. You are probably going to have to wait 1-2 weeks." "Oh, alright thanks.." ... I went to Bestbuy like few blocks away... and ask same question and the guy said .. "Oh yeah we have them in stock but we aren't allowed to sell them until Sunday, Target has them too but probably also aren't allowed to sell them." Stupid Target >_>

Well I went to the Redmond Target this evening to get the PSP slim Daxter bundle and they would not price match there own website! The Store Manager Loran was a complete and udder ARSH HOLE!!! The guy said that the item PSP slim Daxter bundle is not the PSP slim Daxter bundle that in the print out. He also went as far to say that I could of made up that print out. STAY AWAY FAR FAR AWAY from this store and maybe all Targets for hiring this type of store managers!

Frys in Santa Clara were complete asses about it and after half hour I just left in frustration because they couldn't figure out what to do. Trying target Sunday when they say they will have them.

Ditto. Tried at Best Buy in Mountain View and the lead goon said "don't have them" (lies) while another person said "Yeah, but I can't sell them."

Oh well, I'll try Circuit City with a PM next.

Ok here's the lowdown on the situation.

I went to both BB and Target today and asked them about the bundle.

I got a surprisingly honest answer out of Best Buy, here's the paraphrase:

I asked the employee if the bundle was in, and he said it's released next week. I then showed him the Target Ad and stated that some people online have already bought them. So then he goes and asks the manager, and comes back with the following response: "We do have them in stock, but we're not allowed to sell them until Sunday (in the ad). We are required to have a certain # of them in stock, and so we can't sell any early." He also noted that it's pretty much true for all BB stores in the region.

On the other hand... the dumbass employee at Target just plain told me "Nope" when I asked if they had any in stock. His co-worker then added "doesn't it come out next week?" and the response by the original employee was another swift "No!" Fuck Target imo, he's obviously lying.

Grr I want the damn thing to be PM'ed.

Waiting for Sunday...

I picked up the bundle this afternoon at WM in the Salt Lake City UT area, I went to my local Target first and the manager would not budge on the PM basically saying that the website "screws us up all the time". The funny part, was that their Sony rep was onsite when I asked them about the deal and showed them the printout. In the end, I went down the street to Wal Mart, and they took care of me, no questions asked.

I got mine yesterday from CC. I am really liking it. I can't beleive how much faster the web browser is compared to my old PSP.

If anyone is in the SW Virginia area looking for one, the Dublin, VA Wal-Mart had several but wouldn't PM the Target print-out. The Radford, VA Wal-Mart PMed it for me. I didn't have to try at the Christiansburg, VA Wal-Mart. Good luck.

For those that have gotten this, how's the D-Pad? (especially for fighting games) I'm interested in getting a slim PSP for the better design (my hands cramp sometimes when I play PSP games) video out and better load times. However, I'm kinda attached to my current ceramic white PSP and I also had the D-Pad modded so I Could hit diagonal motions in fighting and other games. I kinda scoff at the fact they redesigned but I did the same thing when I bought my DS Lite and now I can't fathom playing on the regular DS ever again :)

The D-pad is much, much better. Not to go too off topic here but I fired up SFA3 Max and was pulling off supers and 2 in 1s with no problems. It'll never be as good as using a proper joystick or the Sega Saturn pad but it's remarkably better than the old PSP D-pad.

This is your conscience speaking...now that the price has been fixed on the website, is it ethical to still try to get it at the cheaper price?

yes, but only for 72 hours after the price change. This is listed in the CAG Moral Code for Deals.

Target in Marlboro, MA had one left and would not honor the price, stating they are not a "high volume" store. Lame.
