You should try reading the rest of the lyrics of their other songs and see how the word structure and the word choice isyou'll come to relize they have more talent than half the shit out there. Not all of their songs are negative.

yeah ill have to agree with morbid here. i know "goth" people and they are just like everyone else. karma, it soulds like you are describing mall goths, as i like to call them. they are usually 14-19 and hang out at hot topic too much, and generally have no clue what they are doing, just trying to emulate others

I listen to Metal, and have my own style to how I dress and have my eyebrow pierced and all that...however, I dont dress and/or consider myself goth. I too can't stand people that complain about life 24/7, I know quite a few of them, and I tell them to do something about it.

As for Slipknot, I met Corey Taylor(the lead singer) and he actually is an upbeat person. They're not attention starved people. The music is their outlet....just like some people relieve stress by working out or drawing, they do it through music.
