With every big release we see stories of certain stores breaking street dates. There's no reason to believe things will be different with Halo 3. So my question to you is, which store do you think will break the Halo 3 street date first?

To answer your question, I would say Circuitcity. Why?
Here is a breakdown:
Gamestop:
Although the employees are sometimes not too bright, they were all forced to read a notice saying that even if they open the boxes containing copies of Halo, they will be fired on spot.
BestBuy:
These guys (in my area atleast) know a lot about Halo and have their shit together for the release.
Circuitcity:
The employees here generally don't give a shit about anything and are retarded. Not a good combo!
Toys R Us:
A guaranteed no after the BioShock mix up!
Walmart:
The cash registers will not ring you up. They are programmed like that.
Target:
Easily has the most competent employees. It probably won't be sold early here.

Even though this was already a thread itself, I am glad to see that there is atleast a poll this time. I would say Wal-Mart, just because it's Wal-Mart...

Yea, but Memphis threw a tantrum and then it was moved into the official Halo 3 thread, which sort of kills any chance for discussion.

ebayEbay's not a store, it's a marketplace.
I don't think any are going to break the street date, simply because Halo 3 is so high profile.

Forgot 7-11, which will be the ones to break it. Or they wont even know what it is.

I think you have them all nailed. I think Habib at 7-11 doesn't give a shit about street dates. "WTF is a street date? Sure you can buy it!"
So my vote is definitely 7-11.

Walmart or TRU. And if there are any street date violations, I'm gonna guess it's a very rare store by store occurance.

I was thinking about this, but as mentioned earlier, Halo 3 is too high profile for anyone in an electronics store to miss it, or any retail store. Rather, a convenient store may not know and has the best chance of breaking release date.
I am hoping it leaks soon, I would love to get a good dump of it from somewhere...

I'm also thinking that 7/11 will break the street date. My main reason is, even if they understand it, do they really care? This is their first ever video game launch, and there will be a select few at 7/11, if it ever happens again. Because of this, it's really hard to threaten 7/11 with anything. The other retailers, you can hold back quanitites of your future hits (mess up Halo 3, good luck getting Halo 4 on time, and even a rumor about this can hurt preorder sales).
Also, you can assume 7/11 is going to sell the games early that night either. It's a midnight launch, do you really think 7/11 wants a line of 10 people waiting to buy the game? This is fine at Best Buy, fine at Gamestop. At 7/11, this is killing business. They want people out, and the best way to do that is to just sell the game and let the players go home happy.

I voted for TRU but my second choice would be 7-11, followed by Wal-Mart and then Target.

..or, you know, a quarter of a million dollar fine.

You are wrong in this regard. 7-11 would want people waiting in or outside the store, as they will likely buy slurpees and food.
Also, some 7-11 will probably sell it too early, and unfortunately, it probably won't be any of the ones near me.

Interesting, because someone always brings this issue up and acts like it makes a difference in the grand scheme of things. Chances are, your average employee doesn't know that his/her store could be fined. I am also not too sure about if stores ever really get fined for this crap anyway.

I've got to say TRU. Having worked in one, I know that theres some seriously idiotic people stocking the shelves. That, and they've had a pretty good record with the Vision Cam, Bioshock, and I'm sure a few others that I can't currently remember.

A Meijer's by my house broke the Halo 2 date by a couple days so I'll do a write in vote for Meijer (and yes I will be going back to that same Meijer to see if they sell Halo 3 early).

When do these stores usually fire people? You tell me dates, I give you a name. Disgruntled employees are always spiteful.
Although, I think it'd do much more harm than good.

is it confirmed that the games have arrived? I would expect them by thursday at most places, but not this early. Although when I worked retail at Halo 2 's launch we did get them about a week early, so it could be at stores..
I don't see how anyone could be stupid enough to sell this on accident. Every game is marked with the street date and the boxes are marked as well. If anyone sells this, it's cause they don't care or are helping out a family member or friend.

We got our stock in a few days ago (I work at TRU). And a GS manager told me they will get there copies this Wednesday.

I'm betting on CC. Despite everything that's gone on recently, some people were able to rape them with the recent B1G1 50% off deal with portable games by getting the cheaper of the two games scanned first. That would lead me to believe that the higher-ups are still clueless. Plus I'd laugh my ass off if they broke release date and got hammered by MS for it.

The computers at CC don't let employees sell games early even if they wanted to.
