View Full Version : Target Rainchecks Pending Out...?

So, I stopped by Target yesterday to check the clearance and figured I could pick up a raincheck. To my dismay, they were enforcing a new policy. In front of the games on sale, in the empty slot (where the raincheck would be), they had a sign for an immediate substitute. For example (this was the only one I saw and remember, but the others had substitutes also), CatWoman (PS2), on sale for $28.88 I believe, and a sign saying I could get Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando for the same price instead. Could this be the beginning of the end of rainchecks?

I was there today, and no such sign. And a raincheck I got allows for any substitution.

I've seen these signs before. Pay no attention to them, if you want a raincheck for the out of stock item just ask for one.

I love how reluctant Target employees are with these rainchecks.

I have a raincheck for PS2 Transformers, and I tried to get an EyeToy and I was denied. I was told I can speak with the people in guest services and I did and theire excuse was, that it was not the same price, Transformers original price was 49.99 and the EyeToy was 44.99,. now what kind of crap is that.

That kind of "crap" is you being denied. Good for Target that they didn't let you scam them.

Last time I got a raincheck it was hilarious. I told the employee I wanted to substitute a game in. He said, "I don't know if I can do that" and his supervisor said, "Yeah, he can do that. I'll show you how." The lower employee said, "Holy shit. You are getting 41% off? I'm taking advantage of this." I was happy to have turned a Target employee into a savvy cheapass gamer.

My target rarely runs out of games, so I never get any rainchecks. :(

You know this garbage is really growing old and stale.

He tried to use another game as a sub, it CLEARLY STATES you are allowed to do so on the rain check.

So how the hell is this scamming?

Nowhere did he say he was trying to use 20 plus rain checks, he was only trying to use one.

Step off your high horse there bub.

The policy is there so you can buy the game you get the raincheck on when it comes back in stock. The only reason the "sub another game" policy is there is to keep customers happy if the game doesn't come back in stock.

The Target rainchecks aren't meant to be used the way you all continue to use them. They're for the game ON SALE, not for any game on the shelf.

So maybe you aren't scamming them, but what you all do is definitely pretty shady - especially those of you who do it on a consistant basis.

Hmm. On an unrelated note, that's not too bad for Ratchet & Clank 2. They're going to be changing over to GH covers soon, so if you're one of those insane people who can't stand the red in your collection picking up a normal cover while you can at a decent price is a good move.

R&C2:GC is turning into a GH? Do you know of a date? I haven't gotten this game yet, but want to, and while 28.88 is certainly a good price [if that applies at my Target], if its' becoming a GH soon, I'll wait and get it for 20 bucks [a non-red cover isn't worth 10 bucks for me.]

And regardless of what they 'meant' by the policy, as long as one follows the stated policy, I see nothing wrong with it. Don't abuse it, because that'll make them change it faster, but if the policy currently allows for any title, then that's their policy, and it's rather egotistical to say we know what they 'meant' when it's entirely simple for them to put 'Valid for same title only' on the raincheck.

It might be slightly unethical [I do disagree with even that, as long as you're only using one raincheck and buying the game for personal use, not for resale], but it's not shady at all.

It will go GH right around when R&C3 comes out, around the end of October, I believe.

I was able to get a Psi Ops raincheck for 43% off last night. That's pretty damn good and better than last week. I don't know if I'll end up using it though since there really wasn't anything there I was interested in.

I dont care how long, ive been here. I was following simple raicheck rules, I used to work for Target also, this definately does not fall into a "scam" as you called it.

Keep your negative opinions to yourself!
