View Full Version : Recommendations for a DS Lite Headset?

So I wear a hearing aid. The official Nintendo headset doesn't thrill me, as it doesn't have any sort of padding at the ear, and if I remember right, it only has mono sound.

I don't really care how big the headset is, so long as it isn't blocking out the sun. I just want a headset with microphone. I know there are off-brand ones out there, but I've never seen them in stores. The one sort of headset I cannot have is anything like an earbud. The ear I can hear from is already occupied, thanks. ;)

I know folks can't give me recommendations on what works well with a hearing aid, but I can judge for myself, usually, just from looking at a product.

Suggestions?

I found this headset by Turtle Beach. Looks perfect for me. Has anyone bought this one?

I have it, and I must say, I get the best sound possible out of my DS using these headphones. Highly recommended.

And I bought mine at Circuit City about a month ago, so you can get them in stores as well. I believe they were $15 at CC, so not that much more than Amazon, and still cheaper than buying them from the official site (which still sells them for $20).

Does this work for games you have to blow on the microphone? Official headset doesn't work for that unless you take it off and move it to your mouth.

Yes, the microphone is fully adjustable, so it works great for those games as well.

When I first got the headset, I tried it out on Electroplankton, since that game uses the microphone in just about every fashion. I tested out the talking by recording my voice and I also tried out the blowing as well, and it all worked great.

Thank you very, very much, Rockgamer. I think I intend to order it this weekend at Amazon with a book I want, to get free shipping. Yeah, Circuit City carries it, but no nearby store has one of these in any color.

Edit: Ordered it. Maybe I'll post a review when I've tested it with a few games.

Awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
