im not much of a racing fan but it doesnt seem that there are to many games out that are really must haves that i dont already have and such. so i guess it isnt that bad to give racing games a try. the thing is, is that there are so many racing games out or coming out soon that im not sure which one to get. anyone have any recommendations or knows about a game that will be must haves for the 360?
the list i think is theres DiRT, Forza2 Project Gotham Racing 4(oct 5), Need for Speed Prostreet(oct 31). im sure i missed others but yea.

I'm not a fan of racing games myself. The only 2 that really ever got me where project gotham racing (the first), and Outrun: Coast to Coast (The Music and feel of that game are just masterful to me. I can race to Magical Sound Shower forever.) I think this might give us a similiar outlook.

The next racer of interest to me is Sega Rally, I have to say. The depth to the track deformation sounds like something that's worthy of Next Gen gaming. Sliding behind an opponent, using the very trail he blazed to gain on him, and overtake him at the last seconds of a lap... it could be very satisfying if it delivers what it claims.

If you're not THAT into racing, don't get Forza 2 honestly. It's a simulator so it can get VERY repetitive when you get to later parts of the game. It ends up being at the point where a race on a track you've raced like 20 times is an 18 minute race to make money and after that you have to do 5 more races that are 18 minutes each to win a championship. And all you get is leveling up and a limited or hard to get car.

But really most of the times the car you win isn't as useful as the cars you unlock, so you're really racing to unlock levels so you can buy cars at the dealership.

As far as being FUN, I would say Colin Mcrae: DiRT, Test Drive Unlimited, Need for Speed: Carbon, Need for Speed: Pro Street, Ridge Racer 6 (lol on 360), MotoGP 07 (If you consider this racing, it's fun as hell to play).

Forza is really technical, and if you don't like technical aspects of a game, you won't like it. I'm a big time autophille and I can barely stomach Forza for long periods of time.

Get NFS Most Wanted or Burnout Revenge. If you are not a big racing fan why spend $60 on a new sim racer just get a fun arcade style racer for cheap. :D

i am not all that into racing games...but,with that said,i own all of the 'triple a' games for the 360 and you know what game i am playing the hell out of is? "full auto",and i am having a blast with it. if you prefer simulation racers, then i suggest pgr3 or forza 2. if you would like to try out pgr3 (along with the first forza for the xbox) then you can get them them both for twenty at your local walmart.

Agreed. I'm not really into racing games, but I've always liked the Burnout series. I need to put more time into Revenge on the 360. For some reason, I've also picked up copies of Ridge Racer 6, Moto GP '06, and Forza 2. I'll probably get rid of the latter 2 (return Moto Gp '06 to Kmart and trade in Forza - won that in the Tropicana contest). RR6 is worthless so I might as well hold on to that one - besides, got that in a trade for $1.99 BB clearance games. Oh, I also have Full Auto (another old $1.99 Best Buy game) which I have yet to try, but that sounds more interesting to me than the others - more in the vein of Burnout.

And of course, Mario Kart is fun, but I sense that the OP is talking about more real car type racers (even if not "realistic" which obviously Burnout is nothing close to being ).

If you want cheap decent I'd say PGR3.

If you want a game that's suppose to rival Gran Turismo (playstation francise) I'd say go with FM2.

If you like a GTA style game try Test Drive Unlimited.

Other than that, the rest are garbage.

Burnout Revenge is AWESOME. I can't speak for the 360 version, but the PS2 version is awesome.

If you're not into racing games...why get one?

And I disagree about Forza2. At the lower difficulties and with the racing lines turned on, it's very accessible to more casual players.

Burnout 360 would be a nice "racing" title, if you want cars, but don't necessarily want "realism". And PGR3 can be had for cheap, if you don't want to invest much into this.

FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage is coming out in less than a month and it's going to be great. I thought i liked Burnout...man, this game kicks it's ass in my eyes. Granted, Revenge is hell of a lot of fun, but the destruction in UC is pretty freakign awesome.

That is...until Burnout Paradise comes out early next year. Still, they each will offer something different, i can't wait.

So for now, go with Burnout Revenge, PGR3 (or 4 which is out soon as well), or Forza 2.

Burnout Revenge is the easy answer. Fantastic game that can probably be had for about 25 bucks at this point.

If you aren't a fan of racing games than Burnout: Revenge is a no brainer. Fun for everyone. Took me 60 hours to finish the single player with all the best times. It's also relatively cheap.

If you want something a little more realistic, but not sim-heavy then Test Drive: Unlimited is a great title that fits between arcade and sim.

If you want more of a sim than the PGRs and Forzas are for you.

Seriously....for about $15 you can get this. If you can get past the announcer (I like him, but there is an option to turn him off), this game offers a pure arcade racing experience. You just press on the gas and go drifting, earning more nitro the better the drift. RR was about drifting way before it gained popularity. It's not as pretty as burnout, but it feels more videogamey (if that's a word). Give it a shot.

Another vote for Burnout... always go back to it and the Mario Kart games (love playing DS online)

And I enjoy Ridge Racer as well, especially on the PSP but the 360 version ois nice, and it is cheap

I dont like the similation driving games at all, never a Forza or GT fan

I'm the same as you. I tried really hard to like the sim-type racing games, and I just can't do it. I'm not into tuning my car, and all of that. I prefer the more arcade-like racing games, like Burnout and Flatout. Test Drive is pretty good too.

Burnout: Revenge is the best racing game ever.

Burnout: Paradise is coming out soon.

Hmmm...what can I say that hasn't already been said...well I guess I can't, so i'll have to say Need for Speed! They've always got a great selection of cars, great suping options and it finds a fun balance between arcadey and realism. Don't let the tuning scare you, I don't know anything about cars mechanically, but it's still fun because you can just see the stats go up on your car. Also, they usually have some sort of storyline, which is something I find the others lack. Other than that, check out the Flatout demo. Much fun to be had there.

Burnout Revenge is a ton of fun (even though the achievements are retardedly hard).

I have enjoyed Forza 2 a lot so far (about 40% complete) but it is starting to get a bit repetitive and races are starting to get a bit too long for my liking.

For non or casual racing fans Need for Speed: Most Wanted offers a very good experience in terms of difficulty. Playing through the game you'll get good enough along the way that the next step is challenging enough to be rewarding, but not too challenging so that it frustrates you. This game also offers 1,000 points that are earned as you play through the main storyline.

I would recommend renting NFS:MW and then buying Burnout if you enjoy playing MFS:MW.

Even though I spent no money on Ridger Racer 6, in retrospect I'd like to have the time I wasted on it back.

I'd pick up Outrun 2 for the original Xbox. I'm not a racing fan either but that game is quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Yet another vote for Burnout Revenge. Arcade racing at its finest. Many (myself included) prefer the gameplay in Burnout 3: Takedown (original Xbox game but backwards compatible) and that should be pretty cheap to buy at this point too.

Burnout Paradise is now supposed to be released in early 2008. Might be worth waiting for but it sounds like you're looking to get a game now, so I'd go for Revenge or Burnout 3.

Like everyone else said, Burnout Revenge was a pretty fun game.

I myself wasnt such a fan of racing games either but I got Forza 2 and Im really enjoying the game. Does get a bit repetitive but theres just so much to do.

Burnout Revenge, definitely.

Forza Motorsport (the first one) made me a fan of the realistic racing genre, by the way. You may want to check it out.

I wasn't really a fan nor a heavy car enthuisist when I got Forza 2. It made me more interested in the sport and the game is well, good. Maybe it's cause I got the game for free though..

I'd get Ridge Racer 6. It's pretty sweet up until you get to the duels, after which it becomes impossible to win a race. Well worth the $20 I paid for it.
