Not all the versions will be the same. This is coming out for 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP, AND DS. This will be dedicated to the 360 version, since IMO, I think most people will be interested in. I'm interested in it, so there. :P

I would be lying if I wasn't a little intrigued to see how the Wii version will play. Even the DS version! I may have to pick them up when they are cheap!

No Cade, Murdoch, Kendrick, London, Boogeyman, Miz, Matt Striker, Kevin Thorne...the roster is weak, and is even worse if they keep the trend of only letting you use a select group of wrestlers in the season mode.

I'll be getting it for sure, I own every single one of these games. Im a bit dissapointed with the roster though, Im just hoping that they are going to have some downloadable content and be able to download some more wrestlers.

I wish they would just stop with the legends, maybe include just 4 like Steve Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Bret Hart. Also I dont know why they left off Victoria once again. Hopefully this year divas can be used in any sort of match and not be limited to just singles matches as its a game, we should decide what to do with it and not be limited to what they want us to play with whatever set of wrestlers/divas.

Yeah NoMercy was a fun game for its time, I think that Raw 2 had a huge roster which made it enjoyable even if it had some annoying glitches. I also enjoyed how in Raw 2 you could play up to 4 players story mode and decided what to do before the matches. I dont know why they dont add something like that for Smackdown. I usually hate the career mode, its boring, repetitive and set up.

Raw 2 was pretty fun! We DO need more multiplayer story modes. I remember I played the hell out of that game..and I gave up with RVD and for shits and giggles did career mode with Jackie! lmao, I remember her first cut scene was her chasing Stephanie McMahon's limo.. :rofl: oh that was hillarious--we don't get anything good like that anymore.

I take that back. That Candice Michelle storyline in 2007 was out of control. REALLY bizarre.

The last good wrestling game from Yuks was WWE Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain!. Yes, it is from 2003, but it's the game my friends and I routinely play, since all the games after that one just suck; a lack of characters(ones that you'd actually want to play as) and the lack of moves make this game and the svr series crap. THe problem is, of course, too many people keep buying the damn things, so they don't have all that much incentive to stop being lazy shits and put some more characters and moves in. Oh yeah, they are making the game look nicer and more realisitic just because of the TNA game that is coming out, but why do they not have more moves? Anyway, the TNA game doesn't look too promising anymore, however I don't think it can be any worse than the svr series.

Revenge was pretty good, as that was the first game (I believe) to introduce Managers. I thought that was so awesome. It was the first game for me at least, to play with managers. Was really fun..especially when there were 4 people playing. We'd have DDP vs Macho Man and me and my other friend would be Elizabeth & Kimberly ..and we just beat the shit outta each other :rofl:

I agree about Raw 2 being kickass...from the sheer amount of customization (you could have a 8'11" created guy and make actual custom entrances!) to the way you had a special for every position (front, back, turnbuckle...) and how you could interfere in every move (im not talking about interfering on matches - that was shit, but if h was about to pedigree me a com hbk could stop him with a sweet chin)

As far as SvR's go I'd have to say that 06 was my favorite...with stamina off of course, it was a really well designed game that I still play here and there with friends

Oh and one last thing: I just saw the Hell in a Cell match featuring Batista and Taker and the Hud design isn't good imo. I really liked the 06 hud, why they couldn't leave that alone I don't know...same goes with the actual wrestling - they just had to make it with the analogs...

Oh and I really wish they would bring back the double-down 10 count in this game. It was so sweet when a guy would hit his finisher and then collapse in '06. I was so pissed when I realized they took that out for '07.

The PS3 and the Xbox 360 are getting exclusive features in their individual builds of the game. On the PlayStation 3, you'll be able to press R2 during your character's entrance and switch to a first-person mode. Taking advantage of the Sixaxis, you'll move your controller in whatever direction you want and the on-screen view will follow. You can toggle the view on and off with a click of R2, but don't you want to read all of the signs?


As for the 360 -- drum roll, please -- WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 will allow you to take the music off your Xbox 360 hard drive and put it into the game. Want your own soundtrack? It's there. Want Undertaker to come out to Flock of Seagulls? Have at it. Want your created character to come out to your friend's Garage Band track? It's go time!

I know it'd fuck with season mode, but couldn't they make it to where the wrestlers are set to default for season, but then in like Create A PPV and Exhibition and stuff, we could edit the original guys?

Furthermore, why is there no "create a show" mode? I'd love a season mode where I could name the shows, PPVs, design the arenas, etc.

I stand corrected. I know you can do custom themes from a flash drive, so I figured it worked for music as well. Kinda ridiculous that you have to do it from a CD, but I guess a CD-RW would help out with that.

That, the chop contest and the sleeper hold mini-game need to come IMO

I'm still surprised they didn't do the Chop Contest as a "Total Control" move (or whatever they called the analogue stick moves in 07).

I was more stoked for FPWR, but custom soundtracks changed my mind. All we need is the custom entrance videos from Raw 2 and all will be good.

Just played some Orton Vs Black Lesnar matches and I'm officially hyped up for this game! I love all the little improvements, from using the ref as a shield, the new fighting styles, the improved walking animations, hell I marked out for Orton's new RKO's (I was honestly surprised at the new corner one).

The new springboard moves are awesome and everything, but why does Rey have some freaking insane TNA-like, super phoeniex splash, instead of his "Dropping the Dime"? Why his DTD isn't one of his finishers, is beyond me, eespecially since it won him way more matches as world champ than anything else (save, for the frog splash).

You're right, loadtimes seemed improved, I didn't really notice it.

I'm somewhat of a fan of the SD!vsRaw series, so I actually enjoyied the demo. I thought they were just going to release 07 with a stripped down roster, but it looks like they really tried to fix up the gameplay.

FYI, I don't think it's worth $60, few games are, however I'm still getting this day 1 from Gamefly.

also, if they're sitting down in the corner and you have the chair, you can run and hit attack and it'll do a running chair dropkick to the face. there's so many more moves to discover. I haven't seen the super RKO yet.

Don't know what difficulty the game is running at, but instead of investing time in different fighting styles they really should've invested time in addressing problems the series has always has had. Such as the AI. Also it seems a step backwards to remove the stamina system, and to limit the strong grapples to the total grapple control (or whatever it is called). Limits the amount and what types of moves you can even do. Graphics don't seem like much of an improvement, and if the commentary is representive of the final game than it's even worse than before, if possible. JBL was answering questions Cole never asked, etc.

Great that the tried something different, but they really should've fixed what was broken and worked to improve what was great instead of doing something new and not addressing the previous issues.

Thank god Fire Pro R is coming out.

And the character models look fantastic, better than ever.

A list of the bullet points on a marketing release should make this game sound like the best wrestler ever.

My problem is that basic gameplay problems that have existed since the inception of the series have still not been addressed.

Wrestlers and moves clip thru the ropes like crazy

Wrestlers 'slide' into position for an animation at ridiculously high speed, this looks the worst when going after a downed opponent. Try this: Roll a guy back into the ring, then climb into the ring right where he is and watch him magically slide over on the mat to let you in the ring.

The mocap animations are canned, and I hate how you instantly swing into the proper position for the animation to execute. At least it should happen at a realistic speed like it might in a real match.

Yukes continues to pile on new modes and features, and thats great, but the glaring problems with making a 3D wrestling game play well have still not been addressed. Its like polishing a turd.

The commentary is god awful. I pinned Rey Misterio, the ref counted 1-2-3, and Taz continued on with his pointless comment that had nothing to do with what was going on in the ring. There are no commentator reactions to big moves or pin attempts. Why even have it in there?

And one last nitpick. Why are the ringside mats soo shiny? I dont recall being able to see the ring reflected in the floor around ringside. It looks like the ring is sitting on ice. Just because a next gen console is capable of fancy graphical tricks doesnt mean you should use them inappropriately just to have them in there.

Has anyone else seen the context sensitive table finishers yet? Rey's high-angle bulldog through the table was pretty cool, as I was expecting the standard powerbomb/suplex. He's also got the facebuster/chair-legdrop move to a downed opponent, and a nice springboard hurricanrana to a standing opponent.

Removing the stamina bars was a mistake, though. Completely turns this game into more of a fighting game than an actual wrestling game.

Im not exactly sure how I feel about the game. Im still getting used to the run button being LB. I do like the use of the B button for irish whipping people, makes it alot easier. I just cant pin point exactly what I dont like about the game. Maybe Im still bothered by the amount of wrestlers in the game and how many of them are no longer in the WWE.

If superstars and divas arent limited to certain match types then Im sure Ill pick it up first day. If thats not the case Ill probably wait a while to get it.

Pretty sure you can only play CD-RW's and not copy from them on the 360. I think the only thing you can copy from are CD-Rs.

The stamina system is still in the game. Keep running around and you will have to stop to regain stamina. Just now instead of holding a button to regain it you just stand there. I had to do it with Taker tonight.

Essientally it seemed like the same game to me, but I'll give it a try. I like the interface, it reminded me of the old PS1 SD days for some reason. And it loaded up super quick. It probably won't be like that in the retail game, becuase there they have to load up EVERYTHING ( HD, your save ).

For some reason, I cannot get into this game. The 24/7 mode is kinda boring. Maybe it's just the control type or something. And you can only choose from 19 stars in 24/7 mode, which is LAME.

Okay, let me address two concerns:

ONE: Reviewers saying that there is no "rest" option in career mode. There is. Not on days you wrestle, mind you, but on days inbetween, there is a "R&R" option under daily activities.

TWO: I know that they confirmed that you could use custom soundtracks, but did they mention that you could also edit the themes of superstars already created in the game (fuckING FINALLY!!!!). The game seemed 132874982364823648736x more awesome when I had Dreamer come out to "Man in the Box".

Oh, and the generic ECW theme is in, which is great. At least it wasn't the most recent ECW theme. Looks like I can now upload more song packs for you guys!

No. The only thing you can edit is motion, fireworks, screen effects, lighting, motion, champion entrance, and entrance movie.

I'll make some edits for the themes but it won't be until later this week

I have music on my hard drive but when I go to User Playlist or whatever in the create an entrance it does nothing. Am I missing something? The game really, really becomes this whole other beast once you learn to play as a certain style. For example, I didn't like the technical style.. lots of submissions and holds. Couldn't stand it. I picked the Sandman afterwards, the hardcore style, and I love it. I can take a chair and wedge my opponent's neck or foot in it and jump on it, I can set tables on fire, I can set 2x4's on fire, I get a second wind when I bleed..

I love the GM mode in this version, a lot more than 07. I hated playing this game for the first few minutes, but after half an hour, I was sucked in.

Man, you guys are making me want to get the game even though I'm bummed that you cant have your wrestler come out at a delayed point in the entrance theme. I'm a huge WWE fan but I haven't really played a wrestling game since Just Bring It. I rented the game last year and loved the GM mode, but never bought the game.

The main issue I have with getting it is that I doubt I'm very good at actually playing the game, so I'd probably stick to solo play besides getting the online achievements, and the career mode sounds like it sucks. Not sure GM mode alone is worth the purchase, even with the discounted price at TRU.

Just wanted to stop in say that the last wrestlign game I owned was WWF vs. NWO and it was awesome. THe battle royals we could get going on with 4 player rumbles were sick. You could pick up chairs and smash people on the head with em, awesome.

1. Dimmu Borgir - Hybrid Stigmata. Delirious' theme from Ring of Honor...working on an edit right now but the mask is a big pain in the ass with this crappy editor. Pics here (http://i10.tinypic.com/87n7z9l.jpg), here (http://i19.tinypic.com/7yf89as.jpg), here (http://i17.tinypic.com/6jwkvq0.jpg), and here (http://i9.tinypic.com/8f1njlz.jpg). It's not quite done yet. I want to tweak the body type more. As far as the mask, I've got the green around the eyes and the crazy pattern on the left half of the mask, but I want to fill in part of it with that silver/white-ish color that is in there too eventually. Not being able to add the long tassels on the top of the mask almost makes it pointless to begin with but I decided to try anyway.

2. Enter Sandman - Metallica. Obvious. Clipped so it starts during the louder part. Tested and works well with Sandman.

3. Nine Inch Nails - Closer (Precursor). This was just sort of a bonus...not used by anyone to my knowledge, but works well as a creepy theme for CAWs. If you've seen the movie Se7en you've heard this.

4. Fanfare from Rocky Balboa/Going the Distance. I edited this together since the Fanfare is short. The timing on the transition is pretty much perfect so it doesn't sound half-assed.

5. Type O Negative - Out of the Fire (Kane's theme). Originally the theme he was going to use when he first took the mask off, they decided against it....unfortunately. Edited so the opening "boom" in the song matches the pyro in the game.

6. NWA - Gangsta Gangsta. You must try using this along with the next one for JTG's entrance. The way it worked out was totally unplanned, but it's pretty amazing how certain parts of this match up with what's on the screen.

7. NWA - Fuck tha Police. Same as above, use it for JTG's entrance theme. The "choreography" is almost eerie. If you only try one theme from this pack, make it this one.

8. Alice in Chains - Man in the Box. Obvious #2. Tested and works well with Dreamer.



Game is nothing special but an improvement over last year. Got it for less than 30 after tax with the Mario Galaxy gift card thing at TRU.


Dumb question BUT, from that video there is no crowd sound. is that what happens when u import music or what?
That video was probably just overdubbed rather than done in-game. There is crowd noise.

It's slightly improved, but it's still not exactly fixed. If the loading time is a dealbreaker for you, you may want to stay away.

the 24/7 mode has so many problems it's unbelievable, was this game tested at all?

SHould you buy it? no. Is it fun and worth buying? yes. Importing music is amazing, the new fighting style system is awesome and I can't wait until they improbe on it, ECW extreme rules match omg awesome. New little features like blind tags and striking out of grapples, make it hard to think of playing 07 again. However, I wish SVR had competition because this game should have been much better.... 24/7 mode is a joke, you will easily win matches only to be treated to cutscene of the opponent standing in the ring victorious as JBL berates you for losing. Most of the cutscenes are totally random, one of the only good things about 24/7 is Mr.Kennedy's voice messages.

I'm really enjoying this game, I've been doing alot and didn't even realize how many achievements I got for it. I'm at 610 already. other than that, I'm looking forward to playing some good multiplayer this weekend with some family.

Quick question, Just got the game and havent really checked the achievements yet. Last year when two or more people played on the same console only first player would get the achievements. Is this the same case with this game? (Assuming there are achievements that can possibly be received together on one console)

Only the person with the main profile (i.e. player 1) gets the achievement when achievements are obtained.
