Just wondering what temp1 and temp2 are in speedfan. also, what temp should I be concerned with? My graphics card seems to stay around 50c (8800gts 640mb), the cores stay around 27 each, and temp 1 and temp 2 in speed fan are usually around 40 and 25 respectively.

Thanks for any input on this.

That temp for the gc is fine. There should be some built in safety features for the card should the temperature get too high.

just to compare, my video card (7600GS 256MB) runs around 65-70C, while my dual core CPU has around 68C for both cores (I know that's really high)

Temp 1 is your CPU.
Temp 2 is typically your motherboard.

Also, be aware that Speedfan sometimes doesn't tell you the accurate temperatures for your CPU.

The reason for that is because each CPU has what they call, the threshold. For some CPU's it's 115, for some it's 100 and that causes fluctuations in what Speedfan tells you. A far more accurate program for monitoring temperatures and having a GUI for it is PC Wizard 2007.

GPU's generally run a lot hotter than CPU's or any other component. This is especially the case with any R600 (HD 2000 series ATI) or G80 (Nvidia 8800/8600 series) cards. My review system which is using a quad-core Core 2 Quad and an 8800GTS 640mb sometimes sees load temperatures in the high 50's for my CPU and low 80's for my GPU. That's actually the typical load temp for a G80. I'm also using aftermarket CPU cooling.

I usually run about 50 for my CPU, 40 for my board. This is being on 24/7, and my machine is really quiet (I don't think my fan speed is all that high).

Edit: My fans are running at 5.1k, 2.1k and 2.3k. But it's virtually silent. This is stock speed on the CPU as well. I might OC it again one day.
