The BB near me is having a job fair and I'm going to apply. I don't have a job right now and it is one of the few places hiring right now. Have any of you guys had any experience working at a BB?

Tell your interviewer that if Best Buy should hire you, they should definitely get the extended warranty.

They're always hiring because there's a huge turnover there. Makes you think, doesn't it?

You have a better chance getting the job there, if you have a friend who works there. If not, then make sure your available anytime. They always like people who has no life at all.

Show up with cotton candy, a bag of popcorn, and a big stuffed teddy bear. At every booth, ask how many tickets it costs, and if someone can hold your bear while you ride. Unless you want to get hired.

That's true of any retail store. Working in retail sucks. You get low pay, terrible hours, asshole managers, and asshole customers. I thanked God the day I finally got out of retail.

I just got hired at bestbuy a few days ago. it seems cool and I new a ton of people who worked there. the managers are cool and its a great place. But most stores probably do suck. if you work as a cashier u get like 7.50 in sales u get 8.00+

That sounds bad. I've been looking for a retail job since I've wanted to avoid working at a fast food place. Maybe that might be a bad place to start my first real job. I might want to try the target going up or the new library near me.

Fast food and retail are the worst possible jobs you can have. Work in a factory, it's much better which goes to show you how bad the aforementioned really are.

a few of my friends worked there, and they really, really hated it. They got out as soon as they found another job. Hope your experience is better than theirs.

i had a friend that worked there and quit after a couple weeks because it was pretty horrible.

i've never been employed there, but i hate what they make their employees do. i just hope you are into asking people if they want a ton of different free tiral offers and the service plan every time they buy something. and then harassing them if they don't want the service plan or the free trial offers.

"what? you don't want the service plan? are you sure? why don't you want it? you should get it. i don't work on comission, if that's what you're thinking. do you want the service plan? why not?"

"would you like a free 2 month trial offer to netflix? no? why not? it's free."

"would you like to put this on your best buy card? there's no interest for 18 months. what? you don't have a best buy card? would you like to open one? no? i don't work on comission, in case you think that. you really don't want to? are you sure?"

but if you are into annoying the crap out of people in an obnoxious, fake friendly voice, then maybe you should go for the job.

Hey ,don't diss the extended warantee. I always get the replacement plan on my systems. My 1st batch went out with the DRE and Bing Bang Walla Walla Bing Bang, BB switched it out for a shiny new series PS2s.

When I worked at Best Buy there was only 2 things I looked forward to each day:
1) Getting the cost + 5% discount on most stuff.
2) The hot customer service chick that was working at store 429 in the summer of 99.

Whats not too bad either is that you get to shop there the day before Thanksgiving before the mad deluge of shoppers rape the store the day after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the info. It doesn't sound like a great job, but I'll take what I can get.

Best Buy is renovating an old Office Max building here and opening up a store sometime soon. Its actually pretty funny because within a short distance of where the Best Buy will be, there's a Wal Mart/Target/Circuit City/EB Games/Blockbuster. Anyway, they had an ad in the paper online for a job fair this week as well as online apps. Being the unemployed person that I am, I filled out an application online (as opposed to wasting gas/money to drive to the hotel that they are doing the job fair at). I would imagine the "trick" to the qustions is to answer them honestly although there were a few where anyone with half a brain would know not to answer honestly.

I do answer them honestly. I was just wondering if it favors if you answer "strongly" over the answers are always
strongly agree
agree
strongly disagree
disagree

I was just saying if u put more stronglies does it help your chances.

I work at a BestBuy right now in a part time sales position and I actually enjoy it most of the time. We have a great store though and really not much turnover; I've been working with pretty much the same core of guys for the past year or so. The discout rules most of the time and the pay's not bad at all for retail; most people are pushing $10 an hour in my department. It's a great break from my regular job, but I"m not sure if I could handle it for 40 hrs, 50 weeks a year :)

Well, I tried and they said I didn't match up with what they wanted. On most of those questions, I didn't use any of those strongly agree/disagree. I did notice the application there seemed to use the same system that Circuit City uses for their apps. Oh well, guess I'll look elsewhere.

on the application it actually gives a percentage on how u answered the questions so answer strongly disagree or aggree.

I love it there. The guys working there are fun to talk to. I only get 8 bucks an hour but for being 16 its still good. I really enjoy it and I highly reccomend applying there
