While another Metal Slug will most likely be a great thing, I can't help but be disappointed it's on the DS. I need mah decent control options and my TV with bright, flashin' lights.

That'll only work if you draw an up arrow to jump. Shooting is done by tapping the screen. It is all innovation, and innovation is DS Rite.

Jonnyram (The one who usually posts the scans, I believe) from NeoGAF confirmed that this news is in Famitsu. Post #68.

Metal Slug 7 on DS. Date unknown.
Also Doki Doki Majo Shinpan 2.

A Metal Slug sequel and a Witch Touching-game sequel. Clearly SNK is bringing out the big guns to the DS.

Metal Slug 7 (yay!)... on DS (please don't mess it up).

Playing the game without an arcade stick just doesn't feel right to me. :(

Not if you're playing it on a train/plane.

Yes, I can just imagine yelling "grenade, grenade" into my DS while waiting for my connecting flight. DHS will love this game.

The new Famitsu reveals that the game plays itself as long as you maintain a steady exhalation into the microphone. For boss fights, you need to color in the boss. The tricky part is staying within the lines.
Supposedly SNK wanted to maintain the basic "hardcore attraction" of the Metal Slug franchise, but make the game more accessible to a wider audience of people who may have been afraid to play past Metal Slug games.

Post #505 of that NeoGAF topic has the scan segment where MS7 is mentioned.

I'm thrilled they're making a new Metal Slug, but DS? It could be awesome, or it could fail. We'll see.

That's funny. You are kidding right?

Well as long as it plays like a normal metal slug. Ya know, B = Jump, Y = Shoot, A = Knife, X = Grenade, L = Slug Attack, and R = Switch Weapons.

I mean how can you fuck that up? Throw in 7 multi pathed stages, co-op online, create a character and stage mode, plus cute art galleries and music extras. That equals win!

This is good news for sure. I hope that it does not take a long time for SNK to bring that game here to the US.

You sound like my ass. Lol.

From the impressions it sounds like this game is still early in development (like the second screen just being a map - wth for?) and the sprites being squashed into DS resoultion. But the gameplay is solid enough.

Just like MS:Anthology seemed like a slam dunk on the wii-- you have a remote with enough buttons to play the game normally (very comfortably even--the sideways wii mote would've been great), yet, there is no normal control scheme.

If they try and make use of the DS' features without leaving in a normal method, this fails.

Why companies try and shoehorn nonsense like touch controls and motion controls in is beyond me. Perhaps developer incompetance is far more of a problem than I ever thought possible. Hopefully SNK will not fuck this up, since a good Metal Slug is better than most things in the world.

and the Wii compilation is still a steaming pile of shit. I will not change my mind on that until that shitty collection is fixed. And it never will be.

Maybe it's just me, but either the video or the game experienced various drops in framerate. Is that common in Metal Slug games? I haven't played one in a while.
