I'm looking for a nice "soft case" for on the go, something without too much bulk that can still fit into my pocket with ease. Something like this (http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20060817/ggl02.htm) would be ideal although I'm not having much luck finding it available, in store or online. Most of the other cases I have seen take up a lot of space, and I'm looking for something with little bulk, but will still protect my lite on the go. Any suggestions?

Go to Walmart and look in their MP3 accessories section. They should have sock cases like this in different sizes, and some should be big enough to slip around a DSL.
I doubt you'll find anything like your link in the States.

you can go cheap and get this from dealextreme
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4633
it might not be good quality soft cloth material like that sock one from japan but it'll get the job done and its not bulky like you've asked.
it looks like cheap fake leather.
but if you dont like it or it's so cheap it falls apart who cares it was only 3$ shipped.
Gold and Silver are your choices, both are ugly but you can get away with silver.
EDIT:
Ok i found 3 places where you can find the sock cover for the ds lite.
Grey seems to be very popular and is OOS on most of them.
A person on EBAY.UK selling them for 10 pounds ($20 USD).
He does ship to the US and its from China.
He might have some Grey ones but you would have to ask.

Heres a site that is shipping to the US.
They are OOS of the grey ones tho but others colors (blue/pink) are still good
It's 18$ after shipping.
http://www.renchi.com/renchi/AdvanceSearchResult?searchMode=simple&showPicture=Y&productname=*DS+Lite+Slipon*&x=36&y=12
Heres another site.
This ones seems the cheaper at 15$ shipped.
They only have the blue in stock.

There leather ones are pretty nice too if you would consider that.

Just use a real sock? Unless you're very into appearances.

I only mentioned a sock because it's the first thing that came to mind, although I have considered just ripping apart a sock and putting it together as a cheap alternative.
I had looked at renchi, but unfortunately a lot of the cases I liked were out of stock. Although, I really do like those leather cases at brando!
I hate how Japan gets a ton of selection of decent accessories, while the US and abroad has to settle for whatever trickles over here.

I got a solid blue one of these at Circuit City at launch:

You can de-thread the rubber logo for maximum pocketability. I haven't seen a thinner case.

This is the case I use (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Mario-Bundle-for-Nintendo-DS-Lite-06104380/sem/rpsm/oid/152036/catOid/-16537/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do). It comes in three colors, blue, white, and red. I wouldn't recommend the white one, as I've heard it gets dirty and shows dirt easily, which I would guess is a given anyway. I use the blue one. One nice thing about it is it has a little velcro band at the top, so that your DS doesn't slid out. And actually, because of the placement of the velcro strap, it keeps your stylus in securely too.
It's nice and thin, which is why I bought it. Adds almost no bulk, although there are not slots for other games. I suppose you could tuck a game inside, but it would move around.
I threw out the Mario skin and screen cleaner, but maybe they're your sort of bag.

I heard the dye used in this actually causes it to stain your DS?

Interesting that you say that, cause it almost seemed like the blue is rubbing off on my pink DS Lite. I didn't use it ever with my white one. When I saw the possible discoloration on my new DS, I was confused, wondering if the L and R buttons had always looked like that. But maybe it's the dye.
I'm in the market for a new case too, a nice sleeve or sock, I guess.
