Need NFSU Help!!!

I borrowed this game from my friend yesterday and just started playing it today. I'm really enjoying it, but I've ran into a problem. I'm on the 14th event, a tournament, but it won't let me join! It says I need at least one star of reputation, which, obviously, I don't have. The autosave feature is on, so I can't go back and get more reputation, so am I stuck? Do I have to start all the way over? I'm scared of the answer...

Nevermind, I figured it out. It turns out that you MUST install all the shitty-ass mods to get your reputation up.

yeah, everytime you unlock a higher level upgrade, whether you like the looks or not, install it, cuz it will raise your stars, nab you bonus points, and allow you to enter the tournies.

Reputation is not really based on performance parts, but more of the visual upgrades you give your car, such as spoilers, side skirts and decals. Here's something to remember: the carbon-fiber visual upgrades (like the hood) increase the reputation meter by almost one whole level. Sure, you can't paint the hood, or place decals on it, but it does increase your multiplier. Also, I think painting your brake calipers and muffler may increase your reputation meter a little.

Yeah, I got a carbon-fiber speed hood. One quick question: will I eventually be able to paint my vinyls different color?

No, the vinyls stay pretty much the same, but the customs are better looking. You will eventually unlock them.

So the vinyls (beside uniques) will always stay the same color? 'Cause I hate how all the vinyls (beside uniques) are white. I have three uniques so far. I don't really like any of them...

Thats what I mean the reg vinyls are white and stay that way. But the uniques get much better, I kinda like the skull with checked flag.

Damn, that sucks that they stay white. I already got the skull with checked flag, but I don't like it. I also got XMOD and the rose.

Sounds cool. I'm probably gonna adapt the rose one soon as it's kinda growing on me. Right now I got a manufactuer vinyl on right now.

The white vinyls can be painted, but there are certain ones (the custom ones) that can't. You'll also get more paint colors as you progress as well.
