According to Pacific Crest Securities analyst Evan Wilson, however, that's all set to change next Tuesday as the company plans to use the launch of Halo 3 (http://kotaku.com/gaming/halo-3/) to launch itself into the retail (http://kotaku.com/gaming/retail/) gaming business, carrying software and hardware in their stores.
I'm sure GS is not even a tad bit worried about this since they pretty much dominate the video game retail market. But, it's good to have competition.

Cant wait for the clearance when this fails. I dont know anyone who shops at radioshack anymore or would ever go there to buy a videogame.

haha prepare to be dissapointed guys
they sold games in Canada for ages. I can go to my local Radio Shack (now called The Source) and pick up Batallion Wars for the low low price of $69.99CAD

holy crap!? i guess it'll be a reliable source for all future things rarez . it'll sit there and collect dust until some stupid idiot finds it. this is like a moms and pops store philosophy back then. i find alot of the independent game stores i visit does this type of practice. i recently found a non-pc Pikmin 2 new for a non-cag price of $40..

I don't' think they'll be any competition as I'm sure they're going to have some pretty damn high prices.

They sold some accessories in the past, always at a ripoff price. I would never go to Radio Shack to buy a game unless it was a clearance deal.

They never have sales or deals so I don't care.

I'm mildly excited. The positives are going to be that stuff clearances like crazy but the negatives are that you'll rarely ever see really good sales on the games/systems.

Either it will be Overpriced, OR any title will stay 49.99/59.99 for 3-4 years. So in 3 years Madden '08 will be priced 49.99 still while you can get it dirt cheap at EB used.
damn, I haven't been to radio shack since I quit that place 4 years ago :)... what's the point? I am not building a robot or radio so I don't need parts!!!

Actually, I remember seeing games in their catalog I think they used to have in store back in the 16 bit era and seeing MANY Genesis and SNES games. Of course, most were full retail 2-3 years after release, but I thought it was neat that they sold games too.
And, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they currently sell hardware, as I think I've seen Gamecubes in their stores locally. So, this is not so much a new thing as maybe a relaunch I think.

Must be to get people in the door.
This is going to bomb, I can only hope they carry tons of copies of everything too.

lol, why? If there stuff is any way as overpriced as their other crap I hope they tank fast.
I don't even get how they are still in business.

This is such a bad idea for RS. I can't see this working, just can't.

This is like KB Toys selling games. They failed miserably because of their pricing.

How will this be any worse than Best Buy or even FYE selling games?
RadioShack regularly puts out $10 off a $40 order or more coupon. That's far better than the $5 off a new game GGC that so many people used to wet their pants over. Gaming accessories also clearance FAST or get price drops after mere months. Some don't but they're the exception rather than the rule.
It's also amusing that so many people are saying that they haven't been there in so long yet they know how stuff goes down there. I'm not gonna buy any games there but then again I won't go into FYE and then shit my pants about getting a MIR.

very true. and the fact that they don't even take care of them makes me what to throw up everytime i see how much they sell them for. they usually reseal alot of the games at the fyes i know. i mean they even have Tekken Advance new for $32.99. and alot of other $49.99 titles that they priced at $52.99.

I have a Radio Shack catalogue from 1976 with a bunch of Pong-clones, so they're beyond 30 years in the games biz up here.

There's a RS within walking distance here, so it's good to know. Everything else they sell is extremely overpriced, though. Usually above MSRP.

Well maybe this will help in obtaining popular launch titles. Sure their games might stay on shelves for 3-4 years at the same price, but during launch time it is always good to have choices just in case other retailers have sold out.

Yeah, but when's the last time you couldn't find a software title at launch? I can't think of anything in recent memory. Which is why I tell Gamestop to sod off with their preorders.

They're really only going to be selling popular titles at launch like Madden, Halo, and Pokemon.

The Radioshacks around here pushed HDTVs hard, despite having very little floor space and high prices. They eventually pulled back.
Same thing will happen with videogames.
