Hey, i just ordered a La fonera from Fon for free, and now im trying to see if running 3 networks is a good idea. My current network is used by the wii, and im planning to connect a computer to it. It is high security 64letter WPA-PSK. However, the problem is, DS doesn't support WPA, and I don't wanna risk my data. if I plug in the La fonera, I will have 3 networks broadcasting, the private one set to WEP 128key. (is there a way to disable the ssid?). Is this a good idea, or should i just expose my network with WEP?

there could be a conflict if they all use the same broadcast frequency......other than that no biggie

if your wiring them all into each other (one router is feeding internet to the other) then thats pretty pointless since the 2 routers will be using the first router's bandwidth that's connected into the modem. if you are wiring 3 different routers to 3 different modems then i guess thats sorta less pointless but you wont really use so much bandwidth ull get lag playing your wii.(unless your torrenting..) Also the more routers you have connected to each other the more unstable your network becomes. right now i have a voIP router connected to my 1st gen linksys-n router and sometimes i will have to reset it maybe once a week(which is incrdibly annoying) and sometimes not for a few months. I dont know if you can disable ssid but if you are directly connecting games/computers into your router and not going wireless then you should just pull the antenna off or try making it not broadcasting a signal. Just remember to always change the login passwords to your router or atleast change the name of the ssid since if the ssid says Linksys people with common sense will automaticly just guess login:admin password:admin.

There should be a SSID broadcast option in your router settings. If you disable it, then a wireless client wouldn't be able to connect unless they knew the SSID to begin with. Don't forget to change the default SSID and admin password like the previous poster said.

no, i just got a promotional code. BTW, this is 2 routers, it's just that the fon one broadcast's two networks.

Should be alright, just use channels 1, 5/6, and 11 for them, that way shouldn't be any interference.
