returning a game from toys r us buy 2 get 1 free sale

i just got back from toys r us they were having the buy 2 get 1 free sale on all video game software. so i decided to take advantage i was wondering how u would go about returning a game u dont want? for a game that u do want? is it just as easy as not opening the game that u bought and then returning it for say halo 3 as an example??

that should be fine as long as you still have the receipt and the game is sealed, you could do a direct exchange if the price is the same i would think

ok thanks thats what i was thinking i hope thats the case and they dont give me any problems i have the receipt and im just gonna take both back they arent gonna want the other games or whatever right? and how would it work if i wanted to return the free game?

if worst comes to worst you could always return all three and get whichever ones you wanted back right away, if i were you i would bring all 3 (so you wouldn't have to make another trip if things don't go smoothly) but don't mention you brought the 3rd game unless necessary, i doubt you'll have any problems, but better safe than sorry

yeah thats what i was thinking they might want me to bring all 3 in would it matter if the ones that i am not returning are opened shouldnt right? do they just give u credit or what i assume its easier to get store credit then getting cash back and also do u think they will have copies of halo 3 in on tuesday?

1. Last year people have tried to exchange games from the B2G1 free deal, didnt work.

are u serious? any idea what they told them? im just talking about returning one of the games i paid full price for the return policy on the back makes it seem like u can return anything that is sealed within a certain number of days

Because the deal rings up as a group, you'd have to return the ENTIRE group to exchange. I tried it last year with Splinter Cell, and was shut down.

You might get lucky, but the odds aren't in your favor. If the game you're returning is the free one, it'll never happen.

it really doesnt matter that they are opened because they will not allow you to exchange. They will not give you a giftcard

I used the normal receipt and just brought the one title.

I'm gonna shoot for exchanging Medal of Honor for The Orange Box, too.

Although I might cave and select something else -- possibly for that Triple.

The returns detailed above are happening when the sale's going on. After the sale's done with, that's a completely different story.

In any case, I don't think they'll do anything with the games, unless you bring all three in. Most likely this will depend from TRU to TRU, though as they were sold together as a package deal, you'd have to return/exchange them all as a package deal.
