Final Fantasy XIII is PS3 Exclusive, Square-enix has the word

I REALLY have little to no idea about the debaccle (If there is one...) about whether or not FF XIII would be exclusive or hittin' the 360/Wii as well.

Oh, I didn't doubt for a minute that Square and Konami were thinking about putting those two series on the 360.

However, in this area, Sony is no fool. It's likely Sony paid through the nose to keep both of those exclusive, and to get their execs to shut the hell up about other consoles and such. It was likely costly, but despite what was likely an astronomical cost to compete with what MS was likely offering them (and you know that MS was offering a lot too), it's a good investment.

Sony knows that for the PS3 to succeed, it needs a big well known series to be exclusive to its system. Just like there's people who bought the 360 mainly for the future Halo 3, people will buy the PS3 for the future Metal Gear and FF games.

And it's also likely that Sony has some other deal with them where they'll try to push cheaper PS3s to consumers so that there's more install base right around the time that MGS and FF13 launch. This is likely the source of the 40gb $400 USD version of the PS3 comes from.

Well, he is right though. A console's second year on market is usually its best since most games have around a 2 year development cycle. Also, with the launch now out of the way, the company behind a console has, by now, shifted all its effort into getting good games for the system.

I used to wonder about this, but I don't think it'll be a huge factor. The majority of people who will buy GTA4 probably won't even know about the exclusive DLC, unless it's heavily publicized.

This game will sell systems in Japan like no other, and in the rest of the world. Final Fantasy is probably the 2nd most well known franchise in the world behind only Mario.

Heh, I think I'm going to have to agree with DNB's snide comment about Guyver.

Frankly, Guyver is just a bit jealous that there's, good games coming exclusive to the PS3.

I have no brand loyalty to corporations that don't care about me one bit, and I'm fine with that. All I care about is the games. Thus, I'll be enjoying Halo 3 next week on my 360 doing co-op with friends (if my system doesn't break down), along with Mass Effect and some other 360 games. Then in 2008 and 2009 I'll be enjoying Final Fantasy 13, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, and many more games on my PS3.

Stop listening to the corporate line and just buy what you want to play. If the PS3 isn't worth it right now because of lack of games, fine, go play your 360. But to completely ignore, or hate another system because some immature attachment to another corporation is stupid. Just plain stupid.

Don't know if SPORE on the PC will be out then, but it's likely to be one masterful display of the evolution of gaming as a whole. Thought I'd throw that in there.
