Well it's worth a shot but does anyone know how I can get a nice washer and dryer for cheap?

Look for clearance at HD or Lowes. Both should be getting rid of last years models right now. Also, at Lowes they usually put the "scratch & dent" stuff out on Fri - Sun. You might find stuff as cheap as half off.
