Anyone remember the old Infocom game on the Commodore 64??

It was a text adventure like the old Zork games.

Great stuff!

You can play the old text game somewhere online, I'll try to find it and post a link, its a great time. And I really expect them to screw this up btw. Hitchiker's is just tough to touch.

edit - found it..

I've heard very little of this film. Is it going to be live action, or will it be animated in some way? This should be an interesting film to see, because so much of the novels' charm and appeal is due to the extensive narration and attitude that will be tough to translate to the big screen.

Anyone else notice they waited until Douglas Adams died to be able to make this film? I have a feeling he realized it couldn't be done right and wouldn't allow it to be made for all this time. And as we've seen many a time before, now the family wants to cash in with no regard to his thoughts.

My sister and I wiled away many an hour playing this game. SO much fun, but I think I was too young to be playing it. I remember having a terrible time just getting out of the house before its demolition in the very beginning of the game.

Edit: I still have it, complete with all the crazy goodies (like the pocket lint, etc.).

He was on board with a movie for the series since 1982. They didn't have to wait until he died, he just did before it was put into production.

Not saying you're wrong here, my comment was just an observation.. but do you have any proof of that?

I definately agree it is very interesting that they waited, and I seriously doubt they can do this one right. How many great books and comics have we seen them ruin recently? We shall see.

Huh, guess I stand corrected. But I still say I'm extremely doubtful that they'll do this any justice. So much of it just does not apply itself to the big screen well.

I know, i've read the book, but I don't exactly remember who was the author, but if I'm not mistaken was it Robert Heinlein (sp)?

He WAS Willow. The Leprechaun, too.

Yes... which still means he was in Willow.

Is anyone else unable to watch the video? I downloaded it, but it doesn't play. I also can't seem to find the trailer on any other website.

They didn't "wait", this movie project has been in the works for ages. It was just unfortunate that DNA died of a heart attack (he was what, 51?) before this finally made it to production.

The poster for this movie rules. I want one. It's a starfield (with a 42 in it) with a thumb logo and the tagline goes something like "the end of your planet isn't the end of the world".
