So yah, went to the Evanescence show w/ Breaking Benjamin, 3 Days Grace, and Seether. And I must say wow, what a show. Having never really heard much of the opening acts, I must say that BB and 3DG will each have another album sold this coming pay day. Seether, while alright, didn't really impress me, but they sounded hautingly like Nirvana, w/ lead singer looking like a chunky Cobain. Amy Lee came out to perform Broken and i was in shock. While she normally looks hot in magazines, she stunning in person. Of course, Evanescence themselves rocked very hard despite so mic problems. So if they're coming your way, I can say you can't go wrong buying a ticket to they're show :-)

Who?

Ehh, they're more of the amazingly blah "new rock/punk/etc" scene. Very uncreative, very blah, very far from ever having an album in my collection.

They're the piles of crap that beat out fifty cent and audioslave (who should've won easily) for best new artist at the grammys (the grammys, what a crock.)

OHHH! Yeah, I definitely dispise the new "glamour" rockers.

Aren't they a Christian band? And they had that one song that became famous because of DareDevil. Who would have thought something successful would have come from that?

i really wouldnt consider any of those bands punk

Edit: And by the way elf....im glad you enjoyed the show. If you like their music, it really doesnt matter what anyone else here thinks.

jeez, a little animosity perhaps? While I still think Audioslave should've gotten the Grammy, I don't think they did wrong choosing Evanescence. In fact, I was overjoyed they didn't pick 50. While he may have skill, he overhypes himself and that takes away what respect I have for him. While I understand that u have to whore yourself out to make it in the music buisness, I think that he went to far. I suppose that's what happens when you get big, but still...

They are definitely not my thing. And if I had to guess, I would say that this concert was horribly overpriced for the quality of talent.

I love Evanescence, especially the older stuff. They're getting a bad rap for "my immortal".. most people don't know they're pretty much a hard rock group.

of course you have to hate it, it's popular, and there's no way you can be totally anti-establishment and rebel if you admit that something popular isn't horribly terrible to the core, even if you don't really know about it. Calling evanesence punk is about as dumb as calling 50 cent R&B.

By the way, I absolutely hate all the radio songs evanesence has, because they've been overplayed so bad everywhere, the cd is still quite good.

Agreed. They're older stuff is quite good. I'm surprised that none of it was widely relesed before. They play some of they're old stuff at their shows.

it's because they don't want the kids to know they're christian.

a pop-goth-christian rock band. now that's what the world really needed.

note: the use of "goth" should be taken with a grain of salt.

I'm not considering them punk.. but there's that whole "new punk" crap stuff, maybe punk isn't the best word, but I haven't come up with a good title for that stuff.

If you consider Evanescense hard rock.. we need to get you an education. I understand they're heavier than alot of the new music on the radio now.. but they are far from hard rock.

And I agree, if you liked the show, more power to you. My original comment was only because XboxMaster asked who they were.

Them being referred to as a "christian" band is one of the most common misconceptions about Evanescence. Consider yourself one of the millions of ignorant Evanescence bashers.

Take "hard rock" with a grain of salt. I know what hard rock music is.. i'm saying their stuff is hard rock compared to the crap put out today.

It also depends.. very very very strongly depends on which songs you listen to.

EDIT: Their older stuff is by far greater than their new stuff. I have 200 or so Evanescence songs (I actually have their complete discography, including the CD that they only made 50 copies of, but i'm missing one song out of my whole collection, it's called "Blood"). I wish I had the opportunity to go to some live shows. Did they do the "Zero" cover? ('Zero' was originally done by Smashing Pumpkins)

Well, tons of Christian stores used to carry their albums becaused alot of people considered them a semi-Christian band. But during an interview, they denied the fact they were a Christian band and said they didn't know why people thought they were Christians.

So after that, the Christian stores stopped selling their albums and that was pretty much it.

Right. But they NEVER were a Christian band. The video "Everybody's Fool" deals with a suicide issue, Amy Lee screams "I WANT TO DIE!!" in the background of Tourniquet.. I think the Christian folks got ahold of "My Immortal" and "Bring Me To Life" and they were like, "Hey! She must be talking about Jesus!" and carried it without listening to it.

No, not this time. They covered KoRn's 'Thoughtless' and one other song i'm not sure of before they encored w/ 'Whisper'.

They covered KoRn?! That's a new one.. holy crap, that must've been awesome. The only covers I have from them are "Zero" by Smashing Pumpkins and "Heart Shaped Box" by Nirvana (and she did great on that one, I have two versions.. one from the radio and one from the Nashville concert).

Oh, and also, "Sex Type Thing", by Stone Temple Pilots, which was done at a 2002 New Year's Eve show.

The lead singer's a girl?

Well, duh.

ElfAngel7

not bashing, it's just a common misconception. some people use that as a bashing tool b/c, well, most christian rock isn't that good (IMO at least)

I saw them back before their album Fallen had come out in this tiny club in Poughkeepsie, NY. They were really good live. Amy Lee has a great stage presence.

After the show, the band hung out in the crowd and was talking to everyone. I got to meet each one of them and get their autographs.....nice bunch of people.

If anyone's into Evanescence, you should also check out the band Lacuna Coil. They have similar sounds. I personally think that Lacuna is better though.

i fail to see what's so horrible about it if they are (or were) a christian band. whether they are singing about the big JC or not doesn't really make their songs better or worse. i'm not a fan of the band, but it has nothing to do with them being christian or not.

It's not bad either way, i'm just sick of people saying false things about them. Ever since "My Immortal", they've been getting all kinda of crap. Switchfoot is a Christian band and they rock. Don't go around saying things about them if you're not even a fan of the band.

My bud just special ordered one of their discs. Said they sound the same almost.

I've missed the last few times Evanescence has been near here. I want to go see them at Deer Creek but don't know if I can arrange it around work.

With all bands, artists, etc. there will always be someone who doesn't like them. Personally, I can't stand 50 cent but some people like him. It's okay to agree to disagree as long as we can keep it civil...

I saw Evanescence last fall. Good live show.

At my show, they covered "Zero" by Smashing Pumpkins and did a small Metallica medley.
