This is a Silver Master game disc from Fighters Megamix. About ten years ago, Sega held a contest where you had to describe your favorite fighter and why, and post it on their website. There were ten winners, and I was one of them.
I received this letter and a game disc, both signed by Hiroshi Kataoka of the AM2 development team:

Note: The wavy pattern is not part of the disc, it's merely how my scanner picked it up. The Sega Sonic emblem is a holographic seal on the disc.
The game came just as you see it, in a plain jewel case with a white tray, a SegaSaturn CD-R back liner, and no instructions. As explained in the letter, this disc is basically the last step in the development process before the Gold Master disc is made. It boots and plays just like a regular game.
From time to time, I've flirted with the idea of getting rid of it. I always decide against it, put it away again, and forget about it. I figure when I came across it this time, I would scan it share it with you guys.

If I remember correctly, I think I wrote about Candy being my favorite character.

That is 100% Grade A radical. I think if you win something in a contest like that, you should never, ever sell it. Ever, period.

Well, for what it's worth, as a collector for 15 years and a co-writer of Video Game Bible...
I would appraise your disc at about $4,000. And that's just for insurance... depending on finding the right people to market it too, you could expect as much as $10,000 or more.
I mean, one in ten is pretty amazing rare.

Sega saturn game, with someone's handwritting on it, = 5 dollars.
Seriously man, its just a copy of a sega saturn disc. I bought fighters megamix for 7.99 2 nights ago. I dont see the big deal like you guys, its just disc too me. Its the same game too.
What is someone talking about 4,000 lol

Except that's it's not just a game, it's a piece of Sega's history... a prize from a major contest. The Nintendo World Championship carts are just timed copies of Super Mario Brothers, Rad Racer, and Tetris... three games worth less then $2 combined. It's also pressed on a silver beta disc, in other words this game is a prototype, also collectable.
I think unreleased Sega games like Propeller Arena or the canceled Saturn Sonic game dont go for $4,000. Those are also much rarer as there are probably fewer copies floating around. If this is from Nintendo or Square soft it might worth more. I think you probably get around $1,000

Well again, it depends on the market itself. Sega fans can be quite fickle.
Authentic protypes of Propeller Arena have fetched as much as $6,000 in good market conditions and as low as $700 in bad ones. But, those are prototypes. This is different then that. These are not lab-loaners like Atari prototypes where an unknown amount of copies exist. This is a verifiable one in ten contest and chances are VERY high that most of those 10 copies will NEVER make their way into the marketplace. They will be kept as trophies or as keep sakes. The signature doesn't even matter except it verifies the game as the prize for the contest. I have MANY signed Atari 2600 games that aren't worth anything, but this is not the same.
Again, for insurance reasons, I would go $4,000.

Too bad they didn't have a contest for Panzer Dragoon Saga instead.

That's awesome!
Definitely a showpiece for any collection in and of itself, but much cooler that you actually won it. I'd keep it forever, just for the sentimental value.
Although the car was a much better character...

Very awesome, and I wouldn't sell if it were me. And I'm not even a collector.

CAG Newbie, meet Survivor Charlie -- one of the most knowledgeable guys on CAG with one of the most impressive collections I know of. I may disagree with his appraisal (disc burns are a lot easier to find/manufacture than carts, and I have literally hundreds of authorized review/preview builds at home), but I'd side with him over you in a heartbeat.
My question is: Don't you insure things for MORE than what you think they'd fetch, not less?
Now, Charlie, what would you guess my playable code from Microsoft of Kameo for the original Xbox is worth? ;)
About the disc itself: Is the Sonic hologram a sticker? I received a burned copy of Space Channel 5 from Sega back in the day, and it didn't have any Sega symbol on it.

Yep, the Sonic emblem is a glossy holograpic sticker.

I may be over estimating but MAN are prototypes hard to pinpoint. A lot of people collect them, but there is no authority on them. They're all over the board. I have protos I've bought for under $50. The game the prototype is simply isn't collectable. Unrelased games jack the price way up, but CD based protos go for a lot less then cart based ones.
My estimate for the Fighters disc is based on it being a PRIZE for a major corperate-sponsered contest and not a prototype, and the estimate is for the complete package with the letter which acts a certifcate of authenticity of sorts. The autograph makes no difference except it's part of the one of ten prize package. And yes, my insurance estimate is more then I would expect the game to fetch in, say, an Ebay auction. With the right kind of collectors, the auction COULD go for as much as $5,000 or more, but realisticly I would expect the game to earn between $750 to $2,000 on Ebay.
Regarding the Kameo disc: I wouldn't have the slightest clue honestly. I'm guessing less then my N64 preview build of Kameo ;)
Just kidding, I wish I had such a thing. Really, I'm not an authority on prototypes. I don't believe anyone is. People that collect them as much as I collect normal games I don't think could give you a solid answer. It's a very fickle aspect of game collecting. For an unreleased game, the prices go sky high. I personally own no unreleased prototypes but it's because of my 'no ebay' policy. Because Kameo on the Xbox was very different from the version on Ebay, I would guess you could get around $250 to $500 on Ebay. That's just a wild guess. Honestly, I would kind of like to see it put on Ebay just to see what would happen.

Stuff so rare is always difficult to affix a price tag to it -- in part because there's little to no precedent. Really, all you can say is it's worth what everything is worth: Whatever someone would pay for it.
I have no plans to put the Kameo Xbox build on eBay -- or any of my preview/review builds. I have ethical scruples. I was just curious what you thought.

I wasn't suggesting you would. Just that the results would be intresting. It wouldn't be all that helpful... Ebay is a poor judge of what something's value is.
The truth with the Fighter's Megamix disc is it's valuable in the sense that it's priceless. There are more heads on Easter Island then there are copies of that prize. And to the best my knowledge, this is the first time anyone has publicly displayed one. The contest did go down, I've confirmed that, so I will restate the $4000 insurance value.
If it went on Ebay right now, the results could be anything.

Whoa!
how complete is that? Is there a full stage? just wondering if it resembles the 360 version at all.

I don't think the N64's Kameo ever made it too far as playable. And it would NOT look anything like the 360 version. Kameo on the N64 (and the Gamecube for that matter) was built using the Jet Force Gemini engine. I don't think it was until it hit the X-Box that they changed it over to use the Conker engine.
