Wasn't sure where to place this thread, so...yeah.
I'm in a bit of a dilemma in FFT. I just got to the point in the game where Ramza has to fight Weigraf alone inside Riovannes Castle, and I think I'm boned. He's able to kill me with two Lightning Swords, and I can barely hit him once before he kills me. Any advice or help is appreciated, since I don't want to have to restart the game just to try and kill him.
Currently, I've got the Squire class maxed, as well as Monk and Chemist. I'm about to hit level 23 also.

I think I remember that one. The rest of your forces are stuck on the other side of that castle gate, yea?
I mean, I guess theres always the option of leveling. A friend of mine, I believe I did something quite insane for this level. He built an army of flying chocobos and just flew everyone over for massive damage. Or something like that.
Other than that, thats not really any advice for a one on one situation. You might be boned if you're in a situation where you cant access leveling levels.

Yeah, the fight is one on one until you get Weigraf down to 0 health, or critical health. Then he uses the Zodiac Stone to transform, and the rest of your party comes in. I can't level my characters, since it's one of those 3 part fights where you're asked to save before you even access the castle in the first place. I got close the other night by spamming the Yell command, and I was able to move 5 times before Weigraf could move once, but he lucked out and killed me, and my corpse didn't hesitate into crystalizing because of my speed.
I'd be willing to try that tactic again, but it quite literally took an hour before was able to move that fast, and I want to see if there's a better alternative to that before I spend another hour doing it again.

This is why its a good idea to alternate save slots. I guess check gamefaqs and try to come up with some sort of innovative solution with your skillsets, but since he can kill you so adeptly I dont think parlor tricks like healing while you try to counter him to death is going to work this time :(

My biggest complaint about FFT is my fault. I would always get stuck doing crap like this. I don't think I got around to beating the game until like 2002.

you dont have multiple saves?! if you do, go back and level up ninja until you can get two swords, then be a knight with two swords. also, if you have enough points in chemist use auto potion and sell all your potions except x potions.

Actually, the strategy I did came from GFaqs. I had auto-potion, move-hp up, and the equip crossbow ability (to be safe incase he tried to normally attack me, which was never the case). I was getting back more health in 2 turns than he was able to give to me, and things were working out awesome, but then he managed to kill me when I was getting tired, and all my work went down the drain.
EDIT: Oh, and no multiple saves. I didn't think I was going to need one, since I somehow beat him before in a previous runthrough of the game. Shame that I forgot how I did it...

It's been a while and I forgot my setup but Auto-Potion + X-potion works wonders. I noticed from a quick google search is that the popular thing to do is run away from him and spam Yell + Accumulate.

I guess I could try the spam Yell strategy again. I just need to make sure to remember to equip a sword this time, and not go for the crossbow route that I had read about. Damn thing did me no good whatsoever.
Hopefully, if I can get past this fight, I'll be making another save file immediately. I don't ever want to go through this kind of frustration ever again.

You're thinking of the fight with Gafgarion, DMK. That battle can be won with a lone Flare. This one is a real son of a bitch.
First of all, anti-lightning equipment will not help. I don't quite recall how I won last time around, but I know I ninja'd it up my first couple of times. I believe last go around I used speed+ stuff and Jump a lot.
Sadly, by this point, it is impossible just to "go and level some more" unless you've got two+ save states.
And things only get worse once you take Wiegraf down...

And things only get worse once you take Wiegraf down...Yeah, I know that much. His Zodiac form is how he got to kill me in my last try. He summoned Cyclops and ko'd me in one shot. Even with all my extra turns, I couldn't kill him before I died. Thanks to my high speed, I didn't even get a countdown on my corpse.

Hah. I spent a ridiculous amount of time having a Mediator lower my characters' faith to make them resistant to enemy summoners.

That fight was a BITCH.
I remember the first time I played FFT (ive clocked 700+ hours easily thorugh multiple plays) and the wiegraph battle is easily the hardest battle in that game.
Auto potion + x potion is a MUST.
I think this battle is about luck, and having a few people deal mega damage (ninjas, ect).
Reason I say that, is because X potion doesn't always trigger. And then you're fucked.
Semi spoiler, just making sure...
Wiegraph himself isn't as hard as when he morphs... concentrate all your power on the boss and not his minions.
After you finish this battle, it's smooth sailing.

I didn't just lower Faith - I also boosted Brave with those countless random battles. Brave # = chance of reaction ability coming into effect. It can get up to mid/high 90s. My reactions always triggered because of it.

Brave at 99 + Blade grasp = my characters never get hit by anything.
I would love to take my party online, my best save has 300 hours on it.
My Ramza would rape.

Thank goodness, I managed to beat him a couple days ago. Spamming Yell and Accumulate really did the trick. Auto-potion was also a must, thanks for the suggestion.
