I've only played a few Castlevania games, but SOTN is easily one of the best games EVER, in ANY series.

Dracula X (
Symphony Of the Night- on Saturn).
Had additional levels that PS did not have, though PS graphics seemed better.

Don't get me wrong...I *LOVE* Symphony of the Night, but my favorite has to be Super Castlevania for the SNES. It was the first Castlevania I ever played, and I have fond memories of it.
I also really enjoyed Lament of Innocence. I don't know why everyone keeps dissing it. It was at least worth the $19.99 I paid for it.
And of course, any of the Castlevanias on GBA are great.

I gotta go with Dracula X, even though SotN is by far the one of the better PS games of all time too.

Super Castlevania was awesome, too. The first time I played rotating level, my mind was blown. In retrospect, it wasn't that amazing, but back then, my god, I was impressed.

Castlevania II - Simon's Quest was by far the BEST until it was dethroned by SOTN (Super Castlevania IV came close but only because of the graphics)

Symphony of the Night tied with the absolutely amazing Aria of Sorrow.

I want to say Aria of Sorrow, but the only reason I love it is because it's almost like Symphony of the Night.
So my award has to go to SotN. No other game I've ever played has made me pass up sleep and other human necessities as much as that game.

Do yourself a favor and get this game even if you have to buy a PS1 for it. Should be able to get it on the cheap.

SOTN, barely beating Dracula X: Rondo's Blood.

Yeah SOTN easily, it's one of those games that when someone says "best games of all time" it always comes up in my mind. ( a roundabout way of saying it's one of the best games of all time.

This is a no-brainer; SotN takes the crown without a struggle. Not only is it the best CV by far, but IMO, it's also the best 2D action/adventure game ever.

That's the thing; I don't have a PS1. I've been looking for the PS1/Screen combo CHEAP for awhile now, but to no success.

SOTN and The 64 3d version i actually had a ton of fun with that one. Hated the ps2 one becuase it was so repeditve and the levels looked exactually the same with a different buffer...
