Just a quick question about where I can go to find out these types of numbers. I got the POP game and it really is very good, so I was curious as to how well it sold.
Can anyone direct me to a site that has these numbers I can look up?
Thanks.
Edit: Looking on Metacritic this thing got a 71 avg. review. How is that possible? It is really good and the controls work very well.

I'm guessing low scores were attributed to it being a quick port of a two year old game for $50.

And the controls weren't as good as in the old versions, IMO (and those of many reviewers).

So would 100,000 sold be considered succesful for a port like it was?
I know RE 4 sold a hell of a lot but that is probably an exception.
Edit: In response to darth maul, I find everything to be really good except for when you are doing the run up the wall and try to use your sword to hang on to something on the wall. Sometimes it takes several tries to do that.

Yeah, the controls are broken or anything.
It's just overall easier to play with standard controls IMO. But I'm just in general not a huge fan of the motion controls, and don't really like to deal with the learning curve--especially to play a port.
Some times like RE4 they make it more intuitive, but not in an action game like this--at least not for me.

Yeah, I can understand that. I still find myself pausing to think about the control I am supposed to be doing at certain points.
I hadn't played it on any other system so that might be one of the reasons why I like it so much.

Yeah, that would defintiely help, as you didn't experience how sublime the controls were on the PS2 games. Amazingly intuitive for all the stuff you can do.

Personally, I've never liked the combat controls for the PoP games. B+Y+Y+B+Y+Y+B to initiate a combo that will be easily blocked and leaves you wide fucking open? Thanks, but I think I'll just stick to jumping over the guys and attacking them while in the air.

Yeah, I wasn't big on the combo crap (never liked combo heavy games) I was mainly meaning how intuitive it was to run on ways, spin around on flag poles, make crazy leaps, and do things like leap over people and attack in the air and other simpler attacks.
Just felt like crap on the Wii controls--just a rushed, shody port from Ubisoft.

Also take note that they turned it down from an M to a T rating for no apparent reason, much to the chagrin of reviewers.

Presumably they would expect it to sell less since it's a smaller userbase, already been bought, and currently available elsewhere for half the cost.

I wouldn't put much faith into "VGChartz". They have been known to not be the most accurate source of information.
If it truely is 100k copies sold, that's incredibly weak, considering the Wii install base.

Well seeing as how it's a port with only minimal changes, I doubt development costs were that high.
Assuming $35 revenue per copy (taking away retailer profits and licensing cost to Nintendo) the game made $3.5 million dollars. That's not too bad, and I'm sure they made money, even if it wasn't very much.

Unless you pay for the numbers, all you've got are estimations. Treat it as such and you've got no reason to whine.
It's pretty good for an overpriced PSP port.

I picked it up when it went as Amazon DOTD for $30.
It's pretty much a over priced port of Two Thrones, but I was really interested in the Wii controls and they worked out pretty damn good. It's just a shame they didn't add any extra levels or challenges of some sort, making the replay value nil.

That's a huge assumption to make, considering the game has already fallen in price (and did so a few months out of the gate). They MIGHT have made that for the first few months on a few copies, but they certainly aren't now.

VGChartz "estimations" are always wrong. They have been wrong time and time again. How people keep looking at them like they are some sort of accurate entity is beyond me.

If you don't want to use them, we can talk about Rival Swords sales numbers like "Well, it sold between zero and 10 million."

Then by all means show us those NPD numbers you have to prove that these are wrong.
I'm not sure why Botticus and I are the only people mature enough to discuss vgchartz' numbers for what they are.

To be fair, they cheated a bit. A lot. Someone in the way of your landing after you cut a guy up? You'll magically "slide" over. Same goes for if you're off trying to grab a pillar (pillar jumping being one of the more annoying bits in those games), try to stab into the wall too soon, etc.

Im still playing but it is somewhat reaching the repetitive stage.
New room, kill a couple guys, look for ledges to jump to or hang from, repeat...

I thought they just dropped the price about a month ago.

I was a huge fan of PoP, Sants of Time. This is actually one of my favorite games of all time becasue of the atmosphere, the platforming, the prince's agility and the combat.
I thought the game did all of those things extremely well. On the other hand I have heard bad things about other "modern" versions of the PoP games (two warriors, etc.).
Is the game worth playing on the wii to a fan of the series, or am I just setting myself up for disappointment. Nintendo power gave it a 7 I think.

The Warrior Within was definitely a step down with the Prince given that "extreme" teen angst make over and a lot more focus on combat. But its still worth playing.
The Two Thrones balanced the platforming and fighting back out a bit more, but I still didn't like it as much as Sands of Time.
IMO, the 2 sequels are worth checking out, but I'd get both the second and third one on the cheap on the PS2, GC or X-box rather than getting Rival Swords since it costs more anc controls worse (IMO of course).

Warrior Within is teh suck. In that game, your mission is to go back in time and brutally murder all of your happy memories about the PoP franchise.
Two Thrones is damn good, though. The introduction of stealth kills speeds things along like you would not believe.
Both can be found on my trade list.
