I was playing some of my collection this weekend and i came across breath of fire 3 for the playstation . It is a great game, i had fun playing it , I must have put 80 hours into it. but I NEVER BEAT IT!!!. The problem is on the final part of the game you must play for like an hour before the final boss kills you with no place to save in this hour . I mean how many times can you replay this same hour of a game before you say screw it . too many for me.. this is a game that i will never complete

I've never been a big fan of the series, but I did like this one. However like you I never did beat it.

I am a BoF fan.
Bof3 was good, but I really feel that on of the best rpgs on the psone was BoF4. A really great game that never got the praise or recognition it deserved IMO.
I did finish both BoF3 and BoF4 though. :D
Never finished Dragon Quarter however.

I've always wanted to get into BoF4. Do you remember who long the game is?

I've played so many freaking rpgs over the years, they all kinda blend together.
I don't remember it being crazy long though, so I'd guess probably 30-40 hours.
It really is worth it though, some of my fave sprite design and artwork of any game ever.

That part did annoy me immensely back in the day. Great game though, I eventually grinded enough and found a good strategy to beat it.

That's always been the appeal to play it. The sprites & animation look nice.

Beat it 3 times, but my disc kept skipping and didn't get to the see the ending. A while back I popped it in for laughs and giggles and I finally saw the ending. Overall, the game was a huge disappointment, one of the great flaws in a otherwise good RPG series. Other luminaries in this category are Final Fantasy 2 (jp), Lunar Dragon Song, Dragon Warrior 2, and Suikoden IV.

I loved the first 2 on SNES. I never owned them but my friend did and I spent many nights in his basement working on them. One of the things that's going to drive me to get a Wii is the SNES version of BoF2, such a great game.
