Congrats. If I'm ever in PA and I need a lawyer, keep your eyes open for the PM.
And don't be Jack Thompson.

Well done; weren't you supposed to find out Tuesday?
Yeah, they (The PA board of law examiners) do that every year. I think they do it to help with the anxiety. Months ago they said results will be in early october. About a week ago they said results will publish Tuesday Oct. 9th.
Yesterday I received an email stating that they would be up at noon today. I woke up this morning to a call "Congratulations Mr. Heath Esquire!"
Here is the link if anybody is intersted: (I am between Leech and Lego)http://www.pabarexam.org/Bar_Examination/Results/currentresults/successfulappsPage15.htm
Its kind of fucked up, they publish the successful applicants by name so there is no anonymity whatsoever, if you know someone took it and don't see their name, they failed.

Keep in mind that PA needs more Public Defenders, not Ambulance Chasers...Congrats!
That's a really great accomplishment. In fact, this calls for my favorite lawyer joke:
What's the difference between a porcupine and a car full of lawyers?
On a porcupine, the pricks are on the outside.
Seriously, though, congratulations.

Congrats. I know taking the bar exam is something I would never want to do again. Hopefully you'll be smarter than me and actually make some money with you law license.

Thanks for all the congrats everybody! I can not express what a relief it is to not have to worry about taking that *od forsaken test again.
Overall it cost about $3,000. About $2k for the main class, roughly 600 for the application fees and actual costs of the test, and $400 for a supplemental Multistate Bar Exam review course. One doesn't HAVE to take these courses but its nice to know that it was money well spent.

Congrats, I'm taking the Florida Bar at the end of February. Did you do BarBRI or PMBR? When did you start studying and how many hours per day? I'm graduating in December and plan on starting my studying at the beginning of January, any thoughts on if that's enough time?

Just lucky I guess.
Gofishn, I took Barbri and the 3-day PMBR course. It costs alot but I passed the first try. The PMBR practice exam and 2-day review was 10 days before the exam (July 15th), and Barbri classes started at the middle/end of May I believe. I did not really start hitting the books hard (6 hour days) until the beginning of June. Up until then I just attended the actual class sessions.
The exam was on July 24th and 25th. After the 4th of July I started putting in about 8 hour days and treated it like a regular job. If I had any advice to give to a bar applicant, it would be to treat it like a job and kicks its ass the first time so you only have to take it once. You have got too much to lose to fuck around with it.
I hope this helps.

When you were in law school, how much time were you spending studying outside of class?
Was the post school grad cram session enough?

No wonder you were asking how to circumvent the law. :-k

I'll be heading out to Vegas this weekend to celebrate you passing the bar exam :)
Also celebrating the all-too-important Columbus Day.

If you're asking if beginning to prepare for the bar exam only after graduation is enough the answer is YES! I even took a week or two off before the bar bri classes started to enjoy graduation. The barbri classes didn't start until two weeks after graduation, and I did almost nothing (besides taking the classes) in law school to supplement my bar classes.
At pitt, they have mandatory classes for "at risk" students to begin studying for the bar exam during lawschool but I didn't do this because I was in the top 20% of my class.
Sybl, I have no idea what your post meant. Did you mean me when you alluded to someone trying to circumvent the law?

Congrats from a law school dropout. You have more persistence (and probably intelligence) than I do.

I doubt that is true THack. It is probably just that I am interested in the law more and wanted to be a lawyer more. Trust me there are some underachieving stupid people that graduated lawschool and passed the bar exam. They just found the subject matter more interesting and wanted it bad enough to get it done.
This is why in other threads where people are considering going to law school I repeatedly say you must be sure. It is too difficult and too much if you are not interested in the law or you only want to be an attorney "a little bit." If you are unsure at all, this makes lawschool really tough.
Nobody at my school failed out, they all quit on their own accord. I would be willing to bet that this is what happened to you.

Thanks for the congratulations again.
I actually do have a job lined up, and am currently working there now. I am the judicial law clerk for a Pennsylvania County Court of Common Pleas (trial level). I get to basically observe alot of arguments and trials in court, meet with the judges and discuss the issues in the case, then research and write judicial opinions.
I bet it sounds dull and boring as hell but its actually pretty cool to someone who is interested in it.

I second that. The only people that dropped out of my law school were people that weren't committed. I took two years off before deciding to go and that two years got me focused.
Congrats on passing, it is a great feeling. In Georgia the exam is killer. You have to go back to the day you came out of the womb and have all of your business. The exam was actually more of pain the test!
