this is only for 3 episodes.

The complete PE set retails for much more.

Plus these are the discovery channel episodes which have Sigourney weaver narrating

Not really, it's $66ish for the full series which is 4 disc and 11 episodes.

This is really really tempting... I bought my dad the regular DVD set for Father's Day, and then I got my HD DVD player back in August... for $12 though (probably a shipping charge too though) I may bite. I kind of wish they gave an option though to buy the other discs later on as well, individually or the rest of the set.

Edit: $3.25 for shipping... so it's over $15 for one disc. Still not bad, but it's still an extra $15 if this disc makes you want the full series.

What are the first three episodes are about?

*EDIT*
Duh, answered my own question; its only right there in the linked page. Pole to Pole, Mountains, Deep Oceans

This phrase concerns me:
This series is provided in standard-definition DVD format.
Does that mean the Blu-Ray is in SD?

The Blu-Ray is in HD, same as HD DVD.

This is the Discovery Channel version, which has different narration (Sigourney Weaver instead of David Attenborough) and is a tad bit different than the BBC version.

Though I couldn't tell you which I prefer, I know whose voice I prefer the sound of.

Are they ever going to release the extra episodes that the UK and Australia got not included in the US BBC editions?
