What the heck is Ar tornelico

I mean what kind of RPG is it? An Action RPG, a turn based RPG, something like Valkyrie Profile? My local gamestop had a copy for sale, and I wanted to buy it (the musical part intrigues me), but I wanted to know exactly WHAT I was getting myself into first.

If you find a copy, I'd recommend just picking it up anyways. This wasa pretty limited number of copies released, so it's not easy to find. Most places only had a couple and those went pretty quick.

I borrowed it from my RPG collector friend around the same time he picked up Persona 3. I definitely felt shafted there... I found Ar tonelico to be very slow and hard to get into. I didn't even get far enough to give the music parts a chance, after hearing some of the voice overs the game has. Just not my style.

I'm sure there are some CAGs here who have given the game more of a chance than me, and could offer more feedback, but that's my impression based on 2 hours of play.

It's quite a lovely game, I must say. There is an emphasis on a "dating sim" style, although it's not near to the point of an actual "full" dating game from Japan.

The music is ungodly awesome, and while the graphics may distance some, I feel as though they are perfect for what the game is trying to accomplish: a nice and simple RPG adventure with a lot of heart and story (and ungodly music, again).

But, I'll let Rei handle the posting about this game, as he can handle expressing his love for this game better than I ever will. :D

the game is 30$ at gamestop if you can find it. Maybe I'll buy it and post it on for trade here after I've played it
