1. I hope its received well by fans and sells well, so it will entice and inspire other companies to actually take advantage of the motion controls. Also maybe wake Nintendo up to make a Punch Out game.
2. I enjoyed the anime, so I would see it as a positive, but I think it might hurt the game overall because few people are familiar with the story.
3. I think it best appeals to anime fans, since its cell shaded and anime based. If it was more realistic boxers or had a couple actual boxers in it, it could get boxing fans into a game like this. Especially because they could use real boxers to advertise the game.

1] I was expecting Fight Night to be first, but hey xseed is going to beat them to the punch (pardon the pun), hopefully they've tweaked the controls cause when I played the japanese version, it felt very sluggish and unresponsive.
2] The license isn't really the selling point for me, I just want a deeper boxing experience, wii boxing was a nice taste, but someone needs to take it to the next level.
3] I'd say it appeals to anime fans more, since boxing fans would want to play with the famous names of boxing...they don't want to be use a bear in the ring (there was a bear in previous ippo games...not sure if the bear makes an appeance in this one)

1. I think it's a decent release for a first boxing game. It seems a bit over the top, which I think would make the game more enjoyable than a realistic boxing game.
2. I might not be as inclined to purchase it because I'm not familiar with the anime, but if I heard the gameplay was really good I'd give it a shot.
3. Probably anime fans, real boxing fans would probably want a more realistic boxing game. Fans of the anime will love it though. I'm not really a fan of either, but I would be interested in trying it because of the unique style.

1. I am hoping that this game will be fun. I've played a little bit of the previous games in this franchise and I enjoyed them. Hopefully the controls in this game will be better than Boxing in Wii Sports
2. I've never watched the anime, but I've played previous games in this franchise so I would be more inclined to buy this
3. This game will probably appeal more to anime fans. Alot of people I know will not play a game if the characters in it are anime looking. I myself do not watch much anime, but I like the anime look in video games

1. I think it's great, as I'm a big fan of the previous Victorious Boxers games.
2. Makes no difference, as I've never seen/read the anime/manga.
3. Both. Assuming the boxing engine is even half as good as the previous games, then it could theoretically be recommended on gameplay alone. Anime fans would also like it.

1. I think it will be an excellent game that sells well. It will be underrated at first but I think it will build momentum as comsumers buy it. I am thrilled by the motion sensor feature with boxing as well.
2. I haven't gotten into anime that much(outside of Bleach) so it would be an impartial descision on my part. It wouldn't increase or diminish my chances of buying the game.
3. A mixture of both. Anime fans would want something similar to the award winner. Boxing fans would want to see how it would stack up to the likes of Fight Night.

1. I think it's awesome, Nintendo touched a bit with this with Wii Boxing, but it wasn 't enough. This seems great and Wii boxing was addicting but got boring due to it limitivity. This seems like a cool boxing game. Using the controller will allow the player to be "more" into the game as the Wii was intended to be.
2. If I was a fan, as any fanboy would do I would immeadiately buy it. If not, I might have to ge my feet wet.
3.It's art style will appeal to anime fans wheras the controls and such will appeal to the gamer

1. I'm just glad that someone is finally doing this. The Wii NEEDS 1:1 motion sensing (your arm swings...the characters arm on screen swings exactly the same way, at the same time). It's 1:1 motion controls that will truly make the Wii a revolutionary console...none of this sloppy add-on waggle that is ultimately no different than hitting a button.
2. It might spark some more interest if I had actually seen or heard of the series, but typically Anime licensed games aren't exactly good, so it might not be a very good selling point for the hardcore gamers out there.
3. If it has a little bit of both in the game, then it will appeal to both. Since the game apparently has a massive story mode, it might appeal to the Anime fans a little more. Boxing fans usually want realistic graphics, boxers, etc. In general it should appeal to Wii owners that just want something a little less broken than Wii Sports Boxing. Either way, I hope they're able to pull it off so other developers take notice.

1. Being the first might mean a few mistakes, so i'll definately be weary about it at first. After hearing what some main magazines (Mainly EGM) have to say about it might sway my opinion a bit though.
2. Knowing it's based off of something could have some good or bad effects on this game. Looking at something like Superman, or some of the Spiderman games, it shows that a company might mess up the game worrying about certain aspects of what they're trying to produce. There are a lot of exceptions to this though, like Spiderman 2, or even the Dragonball Z Budokai series.
3. As long as it sticks true to the manga, than i'm sure Anime fans will love i. If it's a great boxing game, i'm sure boxing fans worldwide will love it too. I know my dad liked Wii Sports Boxing, so it shows that some people don't need a realistric or know who the boxers are to have fun with it.

1. I think that it is pretty neat. I'm sure many people have anticiapted for a boxing game since the Wii was mentioned. I thought EA would be the first to make a boxing game since their Fight Night games were received well by gamers. This might be a good boxing game if the controls are what fans of boxing are hoping it to be.
2. Most definetly. If I was a fan of the anime/manga, I would have a lot of interest in it. Since I am into boxing, I will keep my eye on this game.
3. I believe this game would appeal to both anime and boxing fans. If you are a fan of something, you are most likely interested in something that is simialr to it.

1. I'm surprised Fight Night wasn't first. But I think this game will use the controls effectively and show other developers how to use the Wii controls.
2. I'm not a fan of anime so I'm not interested in this game. The anime is not a selling point for me. If I had the chance to play the game I would play for the controls.
3. I think this game will appeal to anime fans more. I think a few boxing fans will try the game but anime fans will be the bigger draw.
1. I've heard a lot of good things about the previous entries in the series (and own the 2nd), so I'm glad to see that the first boxing game on the Wii (Wii Sports not withstanding) is coming from a quality boxing game franchise. I hope this game sells well on the basis of having well developed motion controls, in addition to being a quality game, to encourage more innovation and exclusives for the Wii.
2. The fact that the game is based on an anime does not affect my decision in the least. While I do watch anime, I see the game and the anime as separate entities that do not directly affect the quality of one another.
3. I feel that this game could appeal towards boxing fans and anime fans alike. One of my friends, who hates anime and enjoys playing Fight Night Round 3 on the Xbox 360, says that Victorious Boxers series is more technically realistic than the Fight Night series, which is more arcade-like. If this game was developed for the 360 (keeping the graphical style, but in HD), this game would be one of the few he'd be willing to purchase near release. As for fans of this anime, they'd enjoy being able to interact with characters from the series and feel like they're participating in the story. As for myself, I fall into the general gamer stance, whose main draw would be the motion controls to create a unique experience.

1) I'm really excited to try this out. Wii Boxing was a nice teaser to the possibilities, and I'd love for this to work out.
2) The anime style looks really cool.. With the Wii's graphic capabilities, I feel this style would better emphasize the "fun" factor rather than trying to make it realistic like Fight Night on the 360/ps3.
3) Mainly anime fans and kids.. I think the people who like hardcore boxing want something that looks more realistic and possibly more brutal.

I'm excited to see a boxing game on the Wii. We need more innovative games for the Wii.
I'm not familiar with the anime, but if the gameplay is good, I'll purchase it since I like boxing.
I'd say both as long as the controls make it feel like you're boxing. Mostly to the anime fans though since it has a unique graphic style.

1. I appreciate it very much that such an idea is being considered seriously for this kind of game. Granted, 1:1 with the Wii remote means some adjustment by the player, but even the sense of boxing with your "own two hands" gives the game more authenticity, I guess.
2. I would not consider buying this game if it sucked pretty bad in gameplay, on which the Wii is built on to succeed. Personally, I am a fan of Hajime no Ippo, but just like the Dragon Ball Z and upcoming Bleach and Naruto games for the Wii, it is not the source material that would ultimately influence my purchase, but how much fun my friends and family will have with the game.
3. I think this game will appeal to folks who want a little more in their play-boxing, and titling the game under the Victorious Boxers label (as it has for the previous PS2 games) should garner those interested in the boxing part. As for the fans of Hajime no Ippo, I believe that a good number of them already know it's coming under this label and will support what is the closest thing to pulling off the Dempsey Roll without pulling every muscle in their body.

I think it is a no-brainer, the wii remote was made for games like this, as it lets players really feel immersed in the gameplay.
I have seen a couple episodes of the anime series but I don't think that alone would bring me to this title. What I want is the action-pumped fighting!
Being able to choose over such a large variety of characters will allow players to choose that compliment their style, something that I think will draw in both fans and people who have never even heard of the anime/mange series but are fans of boxing or even the most casual gmaer

1. I feel sick and disappointed about this being the first boxing game, it should have been something more familar like a punch out, rocky or like fight night. It's sad to see there ain't that much sports or boxing games utilizing the motion sensor that is not anime like.
2. Will not affect my purchasing decision, i haven't seen a show ever. I'd have to base my decision on gameplay and most of all price, i am a CAG after all.
3. I feel its more targeted to anime fans, since playing previous versions of this game relies heavily in storyline and characters. Not being a fan, i look for more of a game being able to use real boxers or a familair boxing movie like rocky, needs blood or at least some strategy involved instead of random button mashing that the previous versions of this game has. Still upset, it should have been punch out. They should put Mike Tyson name in the game, maybe then i'd buy it.

1. If this game has excellent controls I think it has the ability to set a standard for the rest of the genre, so I am excited to see how it turns out being the first of its kind.
2. I don't think the anime relation will affect if I purchase it or not, it looks very close to an old boxing game I used to play in the arcade and thats the reaosn I would purchase it. I've never heard of the anime/manga so it wouldn't influence me at all.
3. Maybe a bit of both, I don't think anime fans are that into sports games but the hardcore ones may enjoy this if they liked the anime, the boxing enthusiasts will give it a try because its the first boxing game outside of Wii Sports to be on the Wii, it will give them a feel on how the next Fight Night will work.

1. About time we get a boxng game not called Wii Sports.
2. I could give two shits about any anime.
3. Given that most people that own a Wii are 'casual gamers' I hardly think that an obscure anime is going to appeal to them more than the fact that finally a stand-alone boxing game is coming out for the Wii.

1. I am very excited to try what will hopefully be the first full fledged boxing game on the Wii.
2. I have not seen the show, but if the game mechanics are good then I might check it out. It really has not effect on my purchasing decision.
3. It appeals to both if the boxing gameplay is good. Fans of the anime will pick it up regardless. :D

1. Finally, a use for those Wii boxing gloves I got from that site in hong kong!
2. Nope. If it was an anime I cared about, maybe. In all honesty I haven't heard of it and have no interest in an anime about boxing. An interactive Wii game for Ikkitousen, hell yes. Lodoss War on the PS3? Hell yes. Elfen Lied on the 360? Hell yes. This? Meh.
3. Well, I can say anime fans without playing it, but I'm not sure on boxing as I don't know how realistic it feels since I haven't played it.

1.) I love the idea of using the controllers as boxing gloves. Wii Boxing was great but the motion didn't always work the best. Hopefully Victorious Boxers Revolution motion will work great.
2.) I am not a fan of Anime so it would not affect my decision either way.
3.) I think this game will appeal to both Anime and Boxing Fans. I'm not a big fan of both but it appeals to me as a gamer becuase it has that Mike Tyson's Boxing/Super Punch Out! look to it which IMO are the 2 best boxing games out there hands down.
Awesome BUZZ! CheapyD. I love this idea.

1. I hope it works great, I remember the Wii Sports Boxing didn't register all your punches so I hope it works out in this boxing game.
2. It wouldn't affect my purchasing decision, I'm a fan of anime. If I wasn't it still wouldn't matter. I don't care if Master Chief's name was Kameo or something random, I would still play it. Games are games.
3. Possibly both, some may play the game for the boxing and others may play to play as their favorite anime character.

1. That's great, boxing games seem like they could benefit from the wiimote technology.
2. I love the series, bought it all from links on this site. I have bought a few games based on anime in the past that were terrible, so i think i would be willing to try it out(or read reviews) and then buy if the gameplay was there.
3.Gonna say this appeals to anime fans. I have tried to turn a few boxing fans onto the anime series without success. These people will usually stick to something like fight night.
EDIT:Ooh just got a PM from GameQuest. Thank you GQD and CAG!

1. I have high hopes for this game. It could open up the possibilities for more, and even greater boxing games on the Wii
2. The fact that I am a fan of Hajime no Ippo does slighty affect my purchase. When it comes to games based on movies, television, and others formats, knowing the characters and feeling what it's like to play as them can make a game seem just a bit better.
3. This game appeals to both. Anime fans get an interactive game that allows them to play as their favorite characters, while boxing fans also get the feeling of interactive boxing that's almost like the real thing.

1. I think that is great that someone finally did that, I think with the right amount of tuning Boxing games will be awesome on the Wii.
2. I am not a fan of that series, however if I was it would definately make me more likely to buy. Although as I said before, since I am not a fan of the series the anime looks does take away appeal for me.
3.I think it applies to both. However I think this applies to Anime fans way more then it does Boxing fans.

1. I don't really care, TBH.
2. Doesn't matter.. if it's good I'll buy it
3. Anime fans.. As a boxing fan it's not realistic enough. I prefer characters that look like boxers.

1. I think It Brings Innovation and A lot of Possibility for future Boxing Games onthe System. It will definetly Show what can come of the Controller. I look Forward to testing it out.
2.I have not personally heard of this Anime Series, so it would not be fair for me to judge it, but i don't think it would effect my decesion. even know there is this speculation on video games that if it is liscensed materials, that the game will be bad, i still try to give each game it's fighting chance.
3.If you are a Fan of the Anime, Of Course. If you are a Fan of Boxing, it will be Appealing Also. As for me, i would like to try it, just for the fact that it has that "arcade in your room" feel to it.

1. i think its great. this is what the wii needs, since this is the first if successful it might start a trend.
2. i love both the anime and the manga. it's sad that they haven't animated all the chapters after episode 75. i have enjoyed the victorious boxers games on the consoles that they have come out (ps2, gameboy advance, psx).
3. i believe this will appeal to everyone, you dont necessarily need to know about the manga to play this game. if its that realistic, it would appeal to boxing fans, anime fans will buy this for sure, and casual gamers who dont play boxing games, if they give this a try, i think they would have fun.

1. I enjoyed Wii Sports Boxing enough to actively search for reviews of this game. Wii Sports Boxing's detection wasn't superb, but it was still fun. If this game features spot-on control, I'd definitely give it a look since I like the concept of motion controlled boxing.
2. I have no knowledge of the anime, so it doesn't persuade me to purchase on that alone. However, the style doesn't dissuade me from purchasing it either. It's possible that some people might be put off by the anime style though.
3. I'd have to play the game or read a review to know for sure. If it's heavily focused on story and unlockables, I'd say it's for anime fans. If it's clear that the developers' efforts went into controls, then it'd probably be best for boxing fans in general. On first impressions, it seems like its more meant for the anime fan -- if they were really going for the true boxing fan, they would've sought after the appropriate "real-life" license. Really, I just want a game made for the "video game" fan. People who just enjoy good, addictive fun that has depth, controls well, and has lots of polish (like a Nintendo 1st party game).

1) About time. Especially if I get to box a bear. They're the number one threat to America.
2) Yes, because I just bought the series. I haven't watched it yet, but it'll giver me background on the events in the game.
3) It depends on how serious the game is. I'm expecting it to be casual so it'll attrack casual fans, but not necessarily anime or boxing fans.

1. I like the anime style graphics and I am glad that there is finally a stand alone boxing game for the Wii. Boxing is my favorite wii sports game, and using the wii remote and nunchuk as gloves is a neat idea.
2. I like boxing games in general and the fact that its anime style graphics is a real plus for me. I am not a fan of the anime series, but this won't affect my decision to buy or not buy this game.
3. This game appeals mainly to anime fans, but for folks like me who are boxing and anime fans, I think it will appeal to those people as well. I think its smart for Xseed games to be the 1st to deliver a dedicated boxing game for Wii, this will surely help its sale.

1. I'm excited that Victorious Boxers is getting a chance to come to the USA. I feel that the use of the controller as gloves is as intuitive as it would get. You pick it up, and your first instinct is to throw punches.
2. Being a fan of Hajime no Ippo definitely effects my decision in purchasing this game. In the end however, it all comes down to the gameplay and fun factor of the game.
3. I think that first and foremost, it should appeal to boxing fans. When people see the game, they'll first notice that it's a boxing game then the graphical style. Anime fans will probably familiar with the series and will have some sort of opinion already on the title.

1. Honestly, I didn't expect it. You would think EA would put out another Fight Night, but I guess not. But at least, there's something besides Wii Boxing.
2. Because its associated with an anime, I would be more influenced to buy it, if only because I recognize it. I haven't watched Hajime no Ippo, but I've heard good things.
3. Unfortunately, as much as I would like for it to appeal to boxing fans, because it is based off of an anime will turn away many of those that would have played Fight Night. Thus, it would appeal to the anime fan, especially those that are fans of the series. However, if there ends up being good press, that may change.

I expect something that is much more responsive than Wii Sports boxing. If the game improves on Wii Boxing just by registering the punch correctly, I will be very pleased with this game.
This doesn't affect my purchasing decision, but I guess each character will have a background now.
Probably mostly boxing fans. I don't see someone that likes Pokemon going "Oh it is an anime game," and then just buying it because of that. I think it will appeal to anyone slightly interested in boxing, being it is the only stand-alone boxing game on Wii so far.

1. I think itd cool I enjoy boxing games and I enjoy my wii so this game should be awesome.

1.) Excited? Although this isn't the first boxing game to feature motion controls, as Wii Sports has a boxing game in it. But if this improves on those type of motion controls, then that's awesome.
2.) Absolutely. I can't say I'm a fan of this particular manga, but when it comes to other licensed games, I'm more willing to fork over the cash if it's from a series I like.
3.) I'd say it appeals more to fans of the anime, as this probably wouldn't satisfy fans of real boxing... there are other more realistic boxing games for them to play.

1.I've never played a Victorious Boxers game, but it looks promising. Obviously a boxing game is all about the tightness of control... But as as been stated earlier, I'm surprised that there hasn't been another boxing title that was released before VBR.
2.All I know about anime is that it is from the land of CheapyD.
3.Probably exclusively boxing fans, as the folk that I know that also enjoy anime are not sports enthusiasts.

1. The Wii remote is a very intuitive controller for a boxing game, as boxing is an area where conventional controllers often seem clunky and unresponsive.
2. The anime influence is interesting, as it indicates that there is a more complex backstory than, you're a guy, go punch this other guy. Not that a sports game needs a storyline, but a well-executed story never hurts.
3. I think it is more appealing from a boxing standpoint, as every Wii gamer has tried out Wii sports and it stands to reason that an expanded boxing game would be appealing. As the anime is fairly obscure (I believe), I would have to imagine that more people browsing the racks will pick this up for the boxing aspect than the anime connection.

1. I am looking forward to playing this for the Wii. I was very surprised that EA hasn't put out a Fight Night for the Wii yet.
2. This would make me want to buy it more. Being based on a manga/anime, I can expect interesting characters, a good story, and great animation and character art.
3. I think the game will appeal to both. Boxing fans will be looking for realisitic controls and anime fans will be happy to see their favorite characters in a video game.

1.) I'm pretty excited about it. I've played Wii Sports boxing quite a bit and had a lot of fun, but there really wasn't much depth to it. I'm pretty pumped to see a full featured and fleshed out boxing game coming to the Wii so I can kick some virtual ass and maybe get a workout in the process...
2.) It does not affect my purchasing decision. I personally have not seen or heard of the anime, so it has no affect on me at all. I've just been intrigued by the game due to it's unique visuals (now I know why they were so unique) and because the Wii controls seem perfect for boxing.
3.) I think it best appeals to boxing fans since many people may not be familiar with the anime that it's based upon. Seems like something that will go over well with the crowd that was a fan of the boxing portion of Wii Sports.

Since Wii Boxing's release we've seen just what the controller can do as a boxing glove and I can see this games mechanics improving upon it. With a somewhat already set system I can picture there being more combos that I can pull off and just a general good experience. I'm actually looking forward to it.
I HAVE seen a bit of the anime and I'm interested in seeing just how they plan on combining the two story lines yet even if I hadn't seen the series it wouldn't affect my purchase. A fun game is a fun game.
A bit of both anime and boxing fans actually. The anime look and feel of course can be used to draw normal non-boxers to the plate and the fact that there is a deeper story line the anime fans can (and will) go back to watch the series/read the manga. And it will appeal to boxing fans because it has a good control scheme and looks to be a pretty solid boxing game which they will probably enjoy.

1. I am really excited to check this game out. One of the main reasons I got the Wii was for the games that are interactive like this one.
2. This does not affect my decision. I am not a fan.
3. I can see it being more attractive for sports fans in general who want an active game to play.
The simplified controls allow for a wider set of users. It should be fun, if not exhausting.
There is no effect if the game and story do not focus on unfamiliar material.
It depends on how the game divides itself between boxing and over-the-top cartoon antics. I am not a fan of the flashing, slow-motion, super punch of death, but I also don't need an overly involved boxing simulator.

About time.
This definitely affects my desire to purchase this game. As a fan of the anime, I would love to recapture the feeling i got while watching Ippo punch out some punk.
Anime fans. If you were a boxing fan, you'd get Fight Night.

Answer these questions for a chance at winning Victorous Boxers Revolution!
How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
1. I loved the Wii Sports Boxing. With Victorious Boxers being the second but first FULL fledged boxing game for the Wii that uses motino sensor feature, its a great game. I know there was a huge following for the PS2 version and I know there will be one for the Wii. I know I will be interested in Victorious Boxers as it will be interesting to see what potentials the Wii will have. Not to mention, VB will definitely help me lose weight as I have already lost 3lbs playing Wii Sports Boxing. With the vigorous training that VB will offer, I will be able to shed extra weight.
2. I never played the PS2 version or read/seen the manga and anime. So this would be all new to me. Its not all about being a fan or follower. My purchases are based on gameplay and replay value. I could care less for graphics. If I want graphics, I might as well do it in real life. I'm spending money for something I can play and enjoy...not oogle over graphics. If the game has great gameplay and good replay value, I'm sold.
3. Victorious Boxer will appeal to both. There are Wii owners looking for a boxing game that uses motion and there are Wii owners who are either a fan of the series or just into anime style games. It all comes down to gameplay and whether or not the game will be fun. If the game lacks either of these, it wont sell. But with the talk of a Victorious Boxer coming to the Wii with a retail price of $39.99 and a good fan base, this game will sell.

I was a big fan of the PS2 games so I am excited about it, I just hope the controls are better than Wii boxing
Haven't seen the manga or anime so not much.
I think the games best appeals to both. I wouldn't call it a straight up boxing sim like Fight Night but regular matches plus a solid story mode should allow for widespread appeal.

1. Isn't Wii boxing the first boxing/sports game offered on the Wii?
2. I've never heard of the anime before so I guess I'm not a fan but the colorful, cel-shaded visuals are pleasant to look at for me as well as any others who watch/play so it would be a definate purchase. The fact that it might spawn 10 more sequels like the Dragon Ball or Naruto games might
scare me off of purchasing this one.
3. This game appeals to both fans of boxing and anime with the possibility of making fans of boxing into fans of anime and vice versa so it's great for all fans, unless the game controls horribly then it won't be a good game for fans of good games.
Being a CAG at heart, I will probably not pick this game up at full price, I'll wait a while for the price to change or some sort of improved version to be announced, but a free version of the game never hurts, if the price is free then that item is for me!

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
I would say that Wii sporsts offered a limited example of what boxing by using the controllers as an extension of your hands. I hope that Victorious boxers is able to more accurately keep up with the movements of the player. I think a good game revolves more around balanced /fun/rewarding gameplay and engaging story.
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify
Yes it would affect my purchasing decision, I enjoy anime, think it allows for having a more engaging story and moves away from the realism of a knockout kings to the more fun punchout style.
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
I do not think boxing fans would get as true of a recreation of the sweet science as they would like. Anime fans will have a much better chance of appreciating this game over boxing fans. I enjoyed the first Victorious Boxers game although it became too difficult later on, I hope the new controller setup is forgiving but not so much that your opponent just stands there. There is a great opportunity here for multiplayer online where both fighters would suffer the drawbacks/benefits of using the motion controls.

1. How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
I think it is a great addition to the genre (sport). If it is much better than wii Sport control-wise, then I might get it. I'm a cheapassgamer, so I might get it when it is on sale of course.
2. The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
Being an anime, I am look forward to this game. If anything, I have higher expectations of this game than most non-anime fans. If it doesn't portray some of the same feeling and boxing mechanics of the anime title then I might not get it. I don't like characters moving very slugishly.
3. Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
This should appeals to boxing fans and anime fans. I mean this is only boxing game on the Wii (so far) beside Wii Sports. So this might be an impulse buy for some customers.

My 100% truthful answers
1 - I think the idea of using the wii remote as boxing gloves is cool because it is exploring the creativeness i hoped i would see come out of the wii's design. However, that being said, I am a little confused as to how you plan on using a rectangle as a boxing glove? It's just not that clear to me.
2- I dont think that it would affect anyones desicion to buy it unless it has something on the cover indicating its based on an anime show. I am not a fan of the show, I dont know anyone who is, and honestly I've never heard of the show before just now nor do I know what manga is.
3- This game will most likely appeal to anime fans for a few reasons. One of them is how the graphics are done to make it look like your watching anime. I am a casual boxing fan but im pretty sure most boxing fans enjoy it because of how real it is. Its a real fight as apposed to scripted wrestling or a cartoon for this matter. Boxing fans will be well aware they are playing a video game with cartoon characters instead of fight night.

I feel that if the controls are implemented properly and if the reponse time is accurate, the game will be a blast to play.
As I am not a fan of anime or manga, this holds no influence as to whether or not I would buy this game...I am a big boxing game fan so that is where my interest lies...
I think it best appeals to boxing fans...A strong sequel to SuperNES Punch Out has never been realized and I am hopeful that this game will approach the playability of the SuperNES game.

1. AWESOME. A real boxing game for the Wii, which hopefully won't suck and will use the motion controls properly (unlike the Wii Sports boxing).
2. The game looks really cool with the hand-drawn look.
3. I think I will smoke a cigarette after every victory just to look cool.
The Wii has been cranking out quality titles lately. I almost play it as much as the 360.
1. It will be awesome if used correctly, but it could be awkward and even detrimental if implemented poorly.
2. It could get me interested in the anime, if the characters are cool.
3. There are probably some Hajime no Ippo fans who will buy a Wii to play this game...and for everyone else, there will be some fun, fast and loose boxing to enjoy.

Here's my opinion/review; whatever you want to call it. Thanks a lot for the opportunity!
1. Well, Wii boxing was really the "first" boxing game. Hopefully this an improvement from Wii Boxing. That would be awesome. I would be interested in each of the moves you could pull, hopefully that reacts to all your "real-life" moves. The only thing I do not like much about this game is that it is a first person style boxing game. The camera angle is too close, and you cannot really see your foot movements in the ring, which is what I would really like to see. However, the second player mode (and hopefully maybe 2v2 if there is a Victorous Boxers Revolution 2) is definently a plus. There needs to be much more multiplayer games so that I can play with my friends, so multiplayer mode is definitely something I look for when it comes to buying games. :cold:
2. It would depend. Because I rarely read manga books (considering I do not have that much free-time to read), and if I liked the manga book, then I would definitely pick up the game. However, since I don’t read manga, I would first read the reviews of CAG members who pick this game up and/or reviews from other sites to determine whether I should buy this game or not. Even though this game is based on an award winning manga and/or anime, this doesn’t mean that the game will be great. There are numerous games that are based off movies and other books; for example, harry potter. Most if not all of these movies turned into games or books turned into games get poor reviews. Hopefully Victorous Boxers Revolution will turn this around!
3. I think this game appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, and ALL kids/adults. Even though the graphics in this game might appeal to kids and anime fans, boxing fans and adults will be looking for the gameplay. Thus, if you mix gameplay and graphics together for this Victorous Boxers Revolution game, then the game may appeal to all audiences, which is what I hope they are going for. \\:D/

1). How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves? I like the idea of using your hands & going through the motions manually, instead of button mashing, but it could be tiring and not as fun as Fight Night if the the Wii mote feature were implemented in it.
2). The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify. No, because I've never heard of it, and each game though it may be in a series of the same name in no way means it's a great or bad game. EX: Call of Duty 4 is nothing like COD 3.
3). Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well. Both

1. If the motion controls are not twitchy, I think it will be great. In Wii Boxing I feel that most of the punches I throw are not picked up by the game. Hopefully there are some improvements in this game.
2. I've never heard of the anime before. But if the motion controls are good, and the game is good, it will have no effect on my purchase decision.
3. I think the animation/character style will definately appeal to anime fans. The cell shading style looks good. Hardcore boxing fans might enjoy a sim-boxer like Fight Night.

1) I think its great, since the wii sports boxing game, i felt as though a full game dedicated to motion sensor boxing is just what the wii needs in its library.
2) This is by far one of my favorite anime series, however games based on anime series are usually mediocre at best. As a fan i'll probably purchase it, but as a gamer it might be worth renting first before making any decisions.
3) This game should really appeal to both boxing fans and anime fans. Wii boxing displayed a good bare bone boxing game that could be great with small refinements. I feel Victorious Boxer can take wii boxing and bring it to a much higher level. As an anime fan, i really look foward in playing characters that i loved so much on the show.

2. Im unsure, I don't have a lot of experiance with it but I tend to like anime based games. So it might help.

1. I'm actually surprised that this will be the first one. Wii Sports boxing was very poorly done in my opinion, and the idea was just sitting there for almost a year here in America. Done right this type of control could provide a very immersive gaming experience despite the limitations.
2. Usually I tend to stay away from licensed games especially when I am not particularly familar with the license, however I have heard enough positive buzz about the PS2 games from non-fans and positive things about the series that I recently ordered the anime. Depending on how I feel about it after seeing it, I will likely have a strong opinion one way or the other.
3. I really believe it most likely it will appeal to boxing fans first and foremost.
The anime series by most available accounts basically tanked in the USA so odds are that many anime fans are not interested in or know about the series. When you combine this with the fact that most anime fans buy merchandise based off of shows and comics that they love, and ignore most other merchandise it becomes clear that anime fans aren't going to be flocking for a chance to get this game.
I have also known a number of people who like boxing and somehow still enjoyed Wii Sports boxing quite a bit, so I feel that these same people may be drawn to an even more potentially immersive experience. In fact, I first heard about Victorious Boxers Revolution from one of such person, and he sounded excited about the idea and isn't even an anime fan.

I feel it has potential, but I dont believe it'll pick up as much speed as some assume in the american market. It's motion sensing controls are shaping up to be good (or so it sounds) so hopefully other companies take note of this use for Wii motes, and implements other innovative uses for their own games. Afterall, the only true selling point on the wii, is... well, the motion controls
I am not a fan of sports games in general, they interest me, but not enough to usually go and buy it when it first gets released. I feel that the anime portion will have little affect on my decision, since sports themselves are what I dont like, not the design/inspiration (i actually like anime :) ). Being a US market though, it may hamper the game, although I wouldnt consider the impact major, since being anime also means anime fans will rush out and buy it, it'll probably cancel out the + and - effects in consumer purchase decisions.
Boxing fans, for sure. I like anime, but I dont like the games genre *(sports/boxing)* so that would hinder me, despite my love of anime. Boxing will most likely be the major selling point of the game, not the anime.

I can't wait for this title. I was praying that this one was going to be imported over here, and I'm damn well pleased to have found out that I'll be able to box with my wii controllers.
I love the anime, haven't read any of the manga, but from what I've heard it is good. As for if it will effect my purchase, damn right it will. As I've said I've been waiting for this one. Can't wait to try out all the various special punches.
I think it will apeal more for anime fans who enjoy boxing myself... I can see where it can apeal to just boxing fans, but you have to appreciate the anime factor to truly enjoy the game at least that is how I feel.

1. How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
I think it's a big selling point. We got a taste of the potential that motion controls had in a boxing game with Wii Sports, but this is the first time a game has been completely designed around it. If implemented correctly, it could be an unparalleled gaming experience in my opinion.
2. The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
If the series has a history of engaging characters, it could encourage me to purchase as it would add a great deal of depth to the game. The graphical style would also influence my decision.
3. Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
Both. While fans of the anime will be naturally inclined to consider this game, I think the unique control style will draw in gamers of all backgrounds. The unique graphical style (at least for this genre) could also serve to bring more attention to the game. I'm personally quite intrigued and will await more impressions on how it plays before making a purchasing decision.
1. I wasn't happy with the boxing mini-game on Wii Sports. The controls were awkward and unresponsive, making it difficult to accurately throw punches. Victorious Boxers looks impressive though with the motion controls. From the videos I've seen, it appears the punching motions have been implemented very well, and that's amazing this early in the system's life, as there aren't that many Wii games that have perfect controls. The Godfather had basic motion combat controls with punches, hooks and uppercuts, and even with that simplicity the Wii controls felt immersive and real, with a lot of impact and feedback. The expanded and improved motion control in Victorious Boxers should make it one of the most immersive Wii games. I would have preferred to see more motion to be involved with the special moves under the motion control setting, though.
2. I am a huge fan of Hajime no Ippo and the Victorious Boxers, so that definitely influences my purchase. In most boxing games, you fight "faceless" opponents with no personality and a generic look. Since this game is based off a popular manga and anime series, the characters are already well developed and fleshed out, with their own unique designs, through their moves, looks, demeanors, and motivations. This gives the game much more personality, because you're not fighting a lifeless punching dummy. You're fighting people.
3. This game appeals to both crowds; the anime/manga fans and the gaming fans alike. There seems to be a surge of popularity for anime-styled and cel-shaded games, and the art style for this game is definitely distinctive enough to stand out. Anime fans generally seem to flock to anime styled games, because it's a familiar genre and style that they're already accustomed to. Gaming fans will see a great boxing game with a finely toned engine. They should be itching for a new boxing game after Wii Sports boxing, and this game along with its refined motion controls should provide what they want. The gameplay system is also reminiscent of the arcade version of Punch Out, which is also a nostalgic fan favorite. I am an anime/manga and gaming fan, and Victorious Boxers for the Wii appeals to both my sensibilities.

I think it is great. I liked Wii boxing a lot annd hopefully this will be a little bit more in depth than that.
I have never watched this anime but I do like the anime-style graphics.
I think both, because boxing fans can finally have a full boxing game rather than just playing Wii Sports, and I think it appeals to anime fans too since there aren't that many anime-related games out there currently.

1. I was actually expecting like "punch- out" Wii for the first boxing game but this will satisfy people's thirst for a boxing game. I just hope the controls are more responsive than in Wii sports.
2. The fact that it comes from an anime has no importance to me if I had never wathced it. If I did watch it I would get more excited, but I really could care less as long as its a solid game.

1. I'm happy to see that this game is the first one featured on the Wii which uses the motion sensor as gloves. I honestly thought Fight Night would have been the first to do this and my second guess would have been a Punch Out game.
2. I had no idea what Hajime No Ippo was when I bought the first game on the PS2. So I would say it did not affect my purchsing decision.
3. I would say both. I bought the first Victorious Boxers game for the PS2 just becasue I wanted a boxing game to play. At the time I bought it, I had never watched the anime. A friend from here on CAG sent me some anime with Hajime No Ippo being on one of the discs. I really enjoyed the anime, and it actually got me interested in playing the first game all over again.

Both. Boxing fans who don't care WTH it's based on, and fans of the anime who want anything that is related to the anime. If a game isn't obviously based on an anime people who stay away from stuff like that might buy it (and like it)

1. I think that it's great that a developer has finally figured out how to use the wii controls like boxing gloves. If it works as well as they say it does, this game could turn out to be a lot of fun.
2. I've never heard of the anime until this game so this would not affect my desicion of whether to purchase this game or not.
3. This game definetly appeals to the fans of the anime since it uses characters from the show. This game might appeal to boxing fans if they like the controls but it seems that most boxing fans would be more likely to pick up something like Fight Night.

I would think boxing fans more than anime fans, since its obviously a boxing game first and foremost, although anyone that recognizes the anime may be drawn to it also.

1. I was very excited to hear about the release of the Ippo game in Japan. I was hoping it would be brought over to the states because the manga and show handled boxing well.
2. I am a fan of Hajime no Ippo. Even if I wasn't I would buy the game based on my love of boxing.
3. I would have to say it appeals to both. For those familiar with the anime/manga it will be a welcome addition to their collection with interactive story. For boxing fans this will be a major step away from the uber simplistic Wii Boxing and towards what can really be done with the control setup for the Wii.

1. I am really excited to see how this will work out.
2. I have never seen this anime, but back-story always helps with pre-sell. This could also help provide the game with some really fleshed out characters instead of generic stereotyped bio's.
3. Looks like it could have some broad appeal for both, and even for those who aren't fans of either and just want to try the innovation in a boxing style game.

Q: How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
A: Very excited to see how it turns out. I really loved Wii Boxing, love the face we will see a whole game.
Q: The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
A: If I was a fan it would. I enjoy the Manga, so it doesn't break my decision.
Q: Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
A: Probally boxing fans, because it's a boxing game at the core. The style doesn't hurt it though.

1. Sounds like a great way to have a new boxing game besides Wii boxing. Especially when it's like an anime style gameplay.
2. I love anime. They should release more anime games out for Americans to try.
3. I'm sure it appeals to both boxing and anime fans. Especially a person who likes both.

1. I hope the control is better than the Wii sport boxing. The Boxing in Wii sport was fun at first but got very annoying because it wasn't precise.
2. I love the anime. I have the whole series on dvd, so this affects my decision on the game. As long as the game is decent, I'll enjoy it because of the anime.
3. I believed it appeals to both because it is a boxing game, but it also has the cel shaded look that will apeals to anime fans too.

It's nice. I think that it's a good way to use the remotes for this kind of game and will hopefully turn out well.
I didn't know about the manga, so that doesn't affect me at all. I don't really care what a game is based on as long as it's good, so no that doesn't affect my purchasing decision.
I don't think it will appeal to anime fans in general simply for being based on an anime. Anime fans don't just like every game that comes out that's based on an anime. Fans of this particular anime might like it as well as boxing fans in general, so it could appeal to both, but I think it would appeal to boxing fans more than anime fans (unless they're fans of this particular anime).

1. I welcome any game that fulfills Nintendo's promise that we will be able to control action onscreen by mimicing the physical action in RL. To my knowledge, there isn't a boxing game outside of Wii sports, so I think this title is welcome.
2. I know nothing about the anime, I would be interested in this title primarily for the boxing, I am not opposed to my characters being in the anime style.
3. I think this will probably appeal to anime fans more than boxing fans. Sports fans seem to want their games as realistic as possible, not cel-shaded or whatever.

1) I think it's great to finally get a game of this type, as Wii Sports Boxing left much to be desired... hopefully it turns out well so we may see more games that utilize the wiimote's motion sensor to its full full potential.
2)Seeing as how I've never seen the anime, I can't say it affects my purchase either negatively or positively; gameplay comes first and foremost. If anything, it would serve as a gateway for me to possibly look into the show.
3)I'd say the game would appeal to more anime fans than boxing fans, but also that the fact the game is the first of its kind on the Wii aside from Wii Sports' Boxing may draw in more of a userbase of fans of other boxing games. It should draw in a fair mix from both sides.

1. I hope it will be a good game espcially with the wii controls since i've been starved for a full boxing game since fight night round 3.
2. The license itself doesnt matter to me, i just want to play a true built for wii boxing game that works correctly.
3. The game would best appeal to anime fans because of its art style while boxing fans would much prefer a realistic game such as a new fight night.

1. I'm very much looking forward to actually playing the game! I've seen the videos on the site and kept myself from importing a Wii and a Japanese copy of the game for so long! I'm really looking forward to how the controls work out for my friends and I...
2. The main reason I am going to get this game is because it is based on HnI! I'm a huge fan of the manga series and think it's one of the better ones out there... the previous games on PS2 were really addicting so I'm looking forward to this one...
3. This is definately a game that appeals to boxing fans... Not just anime/manga fans of the series... I like this game much more in fact because I am a huge fan of the Tekken series of games... In Tekken there is a boxer(Steve Fox) who borrows a lot of moves from characters in Hajime No Ippo/Fighting Spirit... so this game appeals MUCH more to me than the usual boxing game would...
Last thing I'd like to say is... Victorious Boxers controls > Knockout Kings/Fight Night... lol... No contest.

1. I'm glad the Wii is finally getting a full-fledged boxing game. Wii Sports gave us a taste about how a boxing game could work, so I'm excited to see a fully developed attempt at the sport.
2. The anime aspect doesn't appeal to me much, as polished boxing gameplay would be the most attractive feature to me.
3. I think that the boxing aspects is more appealing to most gamers. The Wii lends itself greatly towards these types of games, and if executed properly, would be a huge selling point for this game. Personally, the anime part just seems like an afterthought to give the game a theme, when really, the boxing and focus on gameplay should be at the forefront of this title.

1. Doesn't Wii Sports do this as well? Anyway, if it works, It will be fun. I look forward to playing it the classic style though with the controller & buttons.
2. I'm not familiar with Fighting Spirit. I do like the art style used in the game though. So, I'd probably follow up with checking the anime out.
3. Depends really. If the game has a good boxing engine, it should attract the true boxing fans. I think anime fans pretty much love everything anime. : )

1. I dont really care, I figured it would happen eventually for all the major sports.
2. I dont really get why the decided to bring this game to the US. The anime isn't liscenesed here (dunno if the manga is or not), and it's not even that popular an anime in the fansubbing community. And knowing it's an anime title deters me from buying the game since liscensed titles tend to suck.
3. I think the game is going to appeal more to anime fans because of the art style. Boxing fans are going to look for more of a realistic look.

1. If the "glove detection" plays truly well given the Wii's capabilities, then obviously I'll be very happy about that aspect of the gameplay. WiiSports Boxing doesn't properly inform users of the control recognition, so it can be difficult/confusing. Hopefully, VB fares better.
2. I am not a fan of the manga (or any, for that matter), but the manga/anime angle of the game doesn't particularly bother me as long as the gameplay stands up.
3. If the gameplay is solid, then obviously the game will appeal best to true boxing fans -- those who can palate different aesthetic styles.

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
I am excited to see a motion control boxing simulation being released on the wii. I was definitely a fan of the Wii boxing (although the controls had a lot of people frustrated). Its one sport I am a fan of in and outside the gaming ring.
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
This has no effect on me as I have never played an Ippo game previously.
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.[/LIST] I would say it appeals to both fans. They may turn off some boxing fans due to the art style of the game as I am sure that happened to some degree with previous titles like Black and Bruised. However I would imagine there are other boxing fans out there that the art style would appeal to, or in the very least it would not weigh too much on their buying decision.

1. I am very excited to see a game, especially a boxing game, do something like this. I have played the boxing on Wii sports. And although its fun, it didnt live up to its full potential.
2. I am not too familar with the anime that the game is based on. However from the pictures I have seen of the anime featured in the game, I may take some time and look more into it. However I do not believe it will effect my decission that much.
3. I believe it will appeal to both boxing fans & anime fans. However I would think that most boxing fans would rather a boxing game with real boxers such as Ali, Norton, Frazier, Leonard, Tyson, Jones, etc...
But, this game will still have some appeal to them since there is no game on the market that can use the technology that is being used in this game.

1) I think its great that the Victorious Boxer series is getting o much love in the states. I bought both of the ps2 titles and am excited by the prospect of playing as some of my favorite characters from the series, especially with the new controls.
2) Being a fan of both the manga and anime i'm even more excited about playing the game. While i might have been interested in it if it was just a regular boxing game, but having a Hajime No Ippo game on the wii makes it a must buy.
3) I think fans of the anime/manga will pick it up regardless, but boxing fans might be a little put off by the "cartoony" graphics and lack of real boxers, but if they are indeed real fans it shouldnt matter if it doesnt have real boxers. Being the first stand alone boxng game also helps.

1) I'm very excited and interested to see Victorious Boxers on the Wii. From the initial videos from various video sites it seems the controls are very tight. The ability to actually use your own body movements will add the interactivity needed in games like these.
2) As a huge fan of the series I currently have all of the dvds released in the US. As to how it would affect my purchasing of the game. I've been keeping up with the latest news on the game. All I can say is hope my friends and family are ready for the "Liver Blow", "Gazelle Punch", and "Dempsey Roll" combination. So yeah I was definately looking into buying the game.
3) I do feel that this will appeal to both boxing and anime fans. People looking for a interactive game would love it like Wii Boxing and the anime fans would love it also to be able to use thier favorite characters moves from the series.

1. I'm glad we're getting something more to Wii Boxing. I really like(d) Wii Boxing, but wanted something a little more to it. More realistic and in depth fighting is what I'm looking for and Victorious Boxers looks to be leaning in that direction.
2. Fighting Spirit - If I was a fan, I'd want to know that out of the gate it was based on it. There doesn't seem to be any indication in the title or otherwise that it's a licensed game. I've never gotten in to FS, so it makes no real difference to me.
3. I think this game appeals more to boxing fans, even with the anime/stylized look. There's no true realistic boxing game, so this is essentially it for either fan. Fans of the anime may enjoy it, but this game's true market is the group that like Wii Sports Boxing and is eager for something more.
How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
This is taking the Victorious Boxers video game to newer heights never been taken before. You will feel more connected with the character you're playing in the story as you take part in the action. With it being one of the first boxing games for Wii would have a great impact on those who're looking for boxing on Wii. With good promotion, I'm sure this game will do well. Lallapalooza!
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
Indeed it would, having seen the anime and knowing how intense the fighting scenes are, the gameplay will surely be as intense when you're actually moving using the Wiimote+Nunchuk. I also hope the game follows the story line as in the anime and the manga when playing Story Mode (1P). But I won't mind battling against my friend in 2P mode.

Victorious Boxers will appeal to any one who enjoy the sport, and of course to the fans as well. I'd say I'm more on both side since I'm familiar with the anime and have waiting for a more challenging Boxing game to arrive on Wii. I have a friend who is a Mixed Martial Arts fan, and he visits my home every week just to play boxing on Wii Sports. I've told him about this Victorious Boxing game, and he's also very interested. It'll be a great experience
when I go head to head against my friend. Of course, I will take the VICTORY~! \:D/

1. I think it's fantastic. I feel the wii is really lacking in sports games (which is odd because the motion controller really could make them a fresh experience again) and seeing this come up makes me happy. I'm also stocked for the game because it kinda seems like it'll play like a certain arcade boxing game (where you had to use actually punch at the screen and duck/dodge) . It makes the gameplay much more immersive and exciting.
2. Not really. I picked up the first Victorious Boxers on ps2 based on positive reader reviewers and I ended up loving it. I only recently picked up the anime it's based on and I also love that as well.
3. I would say this game appeals more to anime fans in many ways, but it's boxing engine (in past games) was extremely well made and it played more like a sim than Fight Night and almost every other boxing game I've ever played did. I understand the games aren't blockbusters and as such won't receive big budget advertising, but I feel the publishers should make the mainstream audiences aware of it's sim-like boxing engine and positive reviews it has receivced.

1)I am very excited for this game because it claims to offer excellent motion sensor features. I am tired of waggling the Wii-mote to do motions that could easily be replaced with pressing a button. I bought my Wii to play games that do a good job of replicating my actions and Victorious Boxers looks to be that game.
2)I had no idea that the game is based on the anime, "Hajime No Ippo," but that does not negatively affect my interest for this game. To be honest, I just found out about this game a couple of days ago. the motion controls just looked so good.
3)Like the Wii, I think this game will appeal different demographics. The game touts 1:1 controls so Boxing fans will undoubtedly be happy, but that also applies to gamers who want to play with realistic motion controls. Fans of Hajime No Ippo will most likely give this game a look so it looks like Victorious Boxers will appeal to many different people. Here's hoping it won't disappoint.

No. I generally don't like manga. But a lame license is not going to keep me from playing a great game.
Well, I don't really know the gameplay or how popular the manga is. But I would assume it would be a popular title for fight fans, unless it has SF-like special moves.

1. I have not yet play this game, but from what I have read, this game seems has some control issue. Maybe something just sound better on the paper... and yeah, a quick note for developer, you dont need to make every wii game using the motion sensor idea.
2. Totally! I am a fan of the anime and I even have it's manga on my bookshelf right now. Being a fan is what draws me to this title, but being a careful buyer and cag, I read review more carefully before I buy games now. Not born rich.. :(
3. I think it appeal to all level of audience. Personally I am the anime fan, so it's no brainer for me to notice this title.

1. I'm all for games trying new things. That doesn't necessarily mean that it'll work, but I'm more than happy to give anything a fair chance. If it does work though, hopefully it just opens the door for more new control methods, and then more new control methods... so that we have some good variety on the Wii.
2. I had no idea that it was based on anything. If I was a fan, I would be more likely to purchase the game. However, not being a fan doesn't mean I won't still enjoy it. I have plenty of games based on movies/anime/whatever that I'm not a fan of, but still like the game. I'll be paying attention to reviews and the comments of others to make my final decision.
3. Appeal is a funny word. Prior to opening this thread, I didn't know anything about this game beyond what you see on the cover art... a boxing glove. That said, I think it appeals to boxing fans. However, I could definitely see a wider audience if more features of the game (including it's anime background) were advertised and/or promoted.

1. I think it's a brilliant idea. Not only is it an interesting way to market a licensed game (games that aren't exactly know for their innovation), thanks to wii sports, the average consumer is going to have a passing familiarity with the playstyle.
2. Well, as I mentioned, I tend to be skeptical of lincensed games. However, if a licensed game does its job, it will serve as a good introduction to that property. I've always heard great things about Hajime No Ippo and this game might served as the "first hit", so to speak.
3. For the US market, I think this game best appeals to boxing fans. The wii is the mass-market system and I'd say there are more people with an interest in boxing as a sport than people with an interest in sports anime.

2. I have never seen the anime so it has nothing to do with my decision about the game. It is not a negative.

1. If it uses the motion sensor well I think it'll be great. Wii Sports Boxing was one of the weaker games, because the controls seemed so haphazard and non-responsive. If this or future boxing games can solve the control issue, they'll be a lot of fun.
2. I'm not a big manga fan, but if I think that having a story could be useful to a boxing game, if they pull it off well.
3. I think the game appeals to both. I probably won't be picking this game up, based on Cheapy's review, but I am interested in a boxing game that works well with the 'controller as gloves' scheme. It could be really fun, if pulled off well.

1. Seems like the Wii was made for this type of game, really. Boxing on Wii Sports was great fun, though the controls were a little sluggish and awkward at times. If Victorious Boxers manages to overcome that, it should be great playing it.
2. I do enjoy the anime/manga series, so that sort of thing would influence my decision a lot. The characters are very stylized (but not cartoony as in, say, Punch Out) so people unfamiliar with anime or the series may not be too interested.
3. I'd say the game probably appeals a little bit more to anime fans than boxing fans. When a boxing fan thinks of the sport, I'm not so sure that buff Japanese men are the first thing that comes to mind... they'll have to be drawn to the gameplay first instead of the rest of the package. Meanwhile an anime fan knows exactly what this game is about, who the characters are and what to expect so they'll experience none of those hurdles.

Wii sports really was the first to have this feature. However, it wasn't pushed i hte ads or very much in the aftermarket products. It took a while for the glove/Wiimote holder to hit the market. Boxing is a perfect use of the motion sensors in the Wiimote and nunchuck.
TI think this will appeal more to boxing/sports fans and not cause people to buy it merrely because of its anime ties. Thus, being based on anime will not affect my decision to purchase.
this game will definitely attract boxing fans. Boxing is very physical and the Wii really captures th action with the Wiimote. For those that are into anime and follow it it is just an added bonus in the purchase of this game.

1. I think it's absolutely fantastic that a developer finally created a boxing game that actually focused entirely on boxing. The boxing event in Wii sports was too buggy and random to create a fun boxing experience. With the creation of this game, it seems that one can finally take boxing on the Wii serious as an idea that can be implemented well. It is definitely the focus on the one sport that will get me to purchase this game when it gets cheaper.
2. I am a fan of anime myself. While I do enjoy watching the TV shows and reading the manga, I am in tune with the culture enough to know that there have been truckloads of terrible videogames based on anime properties. It is far to common to hear about volume seven of *anime series videogame* since they primarily tend to sell to fans in Japan. Even in America, if a videogame series based on an anime happens to sell well, we end up seeing handfuls of titles that come out in the future. Just take a look at Dragonball Z/Bleach/Naruto/Yu-Gi-Oh. Knowing that this is a videogame based on an anime caused me to be cautious about the whole idea. Knowing that it is based on a sports anime eased my fears a bit since sports translates to videogames more easily than random adventuring or making friends at school as seen in other anime titles. The bottom line? The anime theme pushes me away but the idea of a dedicated boxing title pulls me in.
3. I believe that this is a title that will appeal to boxing fans much more than anime fans. Just think about how the game is marketed in the US. For other anime titles (Bleach, DBZ, Naruto) the game is being marketed primarily by plastering pictures of the characters and the anime title on every square inch of the box that is possible. In the case of Victorious Boxers: Revolution, the anime title isn't on the cover or any clear view of the characters. There is only the title which directly says the game is about boxing, and a pair of boxing gloves. Whether or not more anime fans purchase this game than sports fans, the target audience seems to be sports fans in this case. Single-player sports fans who are males between the ages of 18 and 35.

1) let hope it is much more in depth than wii boxing.
2) never heared of the anime but i like this kind of game so i want it.
3) i think this game will appeal to more general audience include boxing and anime fans.

If this game has 1:1 controls I feel that it could set the standard for Wii boxing games.
No, it would not. I have not read/watched this manga/anime.
I think that this game would appeal more to actual boxing game fans than anime fans. Boxing game fans who own a Wii have no boxing games to play on their Wii other than Wii Sports. Therefore they would probably like to play this game.

Not counting Wii sports, I think its a very novel concept that, if done right, could bring the stratagy of boxing to people that may never have had that chance to try boxing. I only fear that the game will devolve into a rapid "puch faster to win" kind of gameplay.
While it would not affect my decison, I think that average American might prefer a more relistic approch along the lines of the first two Fight Nights.
I think it will definily apeal to fans of the series the most. Boxing fans will most likly check it out since it is the "first" boxing game for the Wii. I love anime as much as the next otaku, but I dont think that since the game has an anime touch to it that I will automaticly identify with it more. Maybe a demo on the Wii shop will entice?

1) I hope it's done better than Wii Sports. Rather than just swinging wildy, I really hope that there is at least some kind of strategy involved and that punches do in fact register when thrown.
2) Definitely, I bought the PS2 version only because I'm a huge fan of the anime. I just want to throw those special punches like in the anime.
3) Probably both, due to the fact that it's the first "real" boxing game out on the Wii and that it has a whole lot of characters from the anime.

1. its a little surprising that victorious boxers would be the first boxing game on the wii (figured EA would have tried cashing in alot earlier) but it was bound to happen sooner or later so props to xseed. and using the controller as gloves seems like the only logical way to do things with a game like this, or else it would be just another boxing game.
2. i think any game based of exsisting material (movies, anime, comics etc) is always more appealing to people who are allready fans. but even if it wasnt based off an exsisting property it looks fun enough and with a new control scheme seems like a good reason for boxing fans or anime fans to try it out without previous knowlegde of the franchise
3. it probably more appeals to anime fans seeing it is based off an anime series, but if done correctly i can see boxing fans jumping on board as well as long as it represents both correctly (anime and boxing) i can see it also appealing to both. my personal feelings im more an anime fan than iam boxing but this is something that looks fun enough to me to try out.

1. I think it's awesome (also see question 2 answer). I wouldn't necessarily pay full price for it, though.
2. I watched all of the anime, and am up to the latest chapters of the manga. I am definitely a fan and it does affect my purchasing decision.
3. I would say it appeals to anime fans the most. All a boxing game needs is to be fun, the true boxing fans probably don't care about games.

1. I'm actually very disappointed a fully featured boxing game has yet to be developed for Wii. I think a refined boxing game that utilizes motion control would be amazing. I haven't followed this game closely, so I'm not entirely sure if this will be the game I've been waiting for, but atleast it's a start.
2. Honestly, I'm generally not much of an anime fan at all. But, if Victorious Boxers plays well, its anime roots would have very little bearing on my purchasing decision.
3. I think this game will best appeal to boxing fans due to the neglection of that market on Wii. But of course, its art style should be very interesting to anime fans too.

1. using the controllers as boxing gloves is a great idea, it worked fairly well for Wii Sports Boxing and i'm hoping this game irons out the kinks.
2. i've never read the manga or seen the anime but i like the art style, it looks very familiar to me
3. i think this game will attract box boxing fans and anime fans. me personally, i'm an anime fan and haven't played a boxing game since Punch Out (i don't count Wii Sports Boxing cuz it's not technically a full game heh). but the anime style grabs my interest and i'm hoping this will be a fun game to play.

If this is still open:
It's about time. I've been waiting for a game like this since playing boxing in Wii Sports a year ago. Using the motion-sensing controlls is what will make this game.
No, it would not. If I want to buy a boxing game, and this is the only option, I am going to buy it regardless. If you do enjoy the anime, then that is an added bonus.
I would say it appeals more to boxing fans. I, myself, could care less for most anime. The boxing is what it draws to me. As stated above, if you are a fan of the anime, that's great. Otherwise, I see most people purchasing this strictly as a boxing game.

I signed up for the other contest but forgot this one.... hopefully it's still good.
1. I'm really happy with this game trying to be unique by using the motion controls. When I first got the Wii, I was hoping to play a lot of unique games using the remote is cool ways. But the best games have just been action/adventure games with motion controls thrown just because it's available. Except for Metroid Prime but that isn't my cup of tea.
2. I knew this was based on the series and even though I never watched/read the series, I was still thinking about getting this.
3. I would say boxing fans. Anybody who doesn't know this is based off an anime probably won't notice it since it isn't your average anime style art. So the anime-ness is sort of a non-issue. And since the boxing is the heart of the game, people would buy it for that.

I find it to be pretty weird. After Wii Boxing I'd have accepted someone ot do it quickly. Even Nintendo with a Punch-Out follow-up.
Since I'm not a fan, it doesn't affect me at all. If I was, I'd be more interested.
I'd say this appeals to both boxing fans and fans of the anime equally.

I think its a great idea, I enjoyed playing the boxing game in wii-sports against friends. The story/career will be interesting to play.
Personally I am not famliar with "Fighting Spirit" so me purchasing it because it is based on an amine is slim. Since I live in the U.S. I dont really care.
It should appeal to both fans of anime and boxing, it looks like it mixes both well and those anime fans will relate to the manga its based on.

1. I really liked the boxing game in Wii Sports, but I've been hoping for something better. Hopefully, this delivers.
2. I'm not a fan of the anime/manga, but that doesn't affect my decision any because I've heard good things about Victorious Boxers in the past
3. I'm sure this will apeal to the anime fans, but if it really offers strong boxing gameplay (which is what i really want) then it should appeal to boxers as well.

1. How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
Um... Wii Sports?
Seriously, it's cool but, honestly, it was expected. You have two controllers, you have two hands. Boxing in it's simplest terms is defined as just that. So, an Ippo game isn't a bug surprise.
2. The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
It would, simply because I had a buddy who raved about the last Ippo game. (I think that was on the GBA.)
3. Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
Probably most to anime fans. Boxing fans, at least American boxing fans, would probably wait for something like Fight Night to come out.

1. Sounds awesome. My son and I are definitely looking at this title.
2. I enjoyed playing Victorious Boxers 2 on the PS2 - in fact, I got it from a CAG deal! And yes - if I like a previous installment of a series, I'm much more likely to consider the next one in line.
3. I think it'll appeal to both. There has been a good balance between the action and the anime aspects in the previous game, so if the developer sticks to that ratio, it ought to work out just fine.

I'm excited to see how it turns out, being the first boxing game to offer motion sensor feature. I know it's no Fight Night but VB has its own moment on PS2.
I never judge a game just because it's based on an award anime/manga/movie or anything. A blockbuster movie does not equal a great game and vice versa. I will judge the game and movie alone.
I don't think this game will make any impression on the Wii due the casual crowd on this system. Parents will think this game is too violent for kids and hardcore gamers don't consider an anime game published on a Wii seriously.

1. How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
I thought wii sports boxing technically did that already, although the controls were definitely not as precise as I would like. If Victorious Boxers can pull off awesome controls, it will be a definite must-have title for me.
2. The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
I am generally not an anime fan, other than what became more mainstream such as Robotech, but I don't think it will affect my purchasing decision unless the game requires a lot of background knowledge about the anime to enjoy it. But since it is a boxing game, I don't think that will be a problem.
3. Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
I think it appeals to both, although the anime fans will probably be able to appreciate it slightly more. A well-done boxing title can be a huge success on the wii. If the boxing mechanics are enjoyable and the game is sufficiently deep, I will definitely be planning on getting it. (Although, being a CAG, I will probably wait until it hits the $29.99 or below mark, unless it is exceedingly impressive. :))
1. Seems awesome. But I wouldn't call it the first, because what about Boxing in Wii Sports?
2. I'm not a fan of the anime, but I was interested in it because it was boxing. If I was a fan of the anime, I would be interested because I was a fan of it to begin with.
3. It appeals to both.

1. Anything better than Wii Sports Boxing is a plus to me. If punche and combo detection is accurate and precise, I am stoked!
2. Although I am not an anime fan, from the various screen shots I can honestly say that I am excited.
3. With proper marketing in the U.S., this game could have tons of appeal to a crowd looking for something different than the only boxing experience available now, the Fight Night series.
1. How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?

1. I'd be very impressed if it provides one-to-one game play, meaning it perfectly reflects your movement. If it does not provide one-to-one gameplay, then its just a prettier Wii Sports Boxing, which was not that great..
2. I've never read manga and I haven't watched any anime, besides Cowboy Bebop, in several years, so it has no influence on me.
3. It would probably appeal more towards anime fans because, from my experience, the hardcore boxing fans would prefer to have the most photo-realistic looking game, rather than something animated. I personally don't care either way, photo-realistic or animated, so long as its fun to play.

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
Rather indifferent. This question - for me - would be better answered after playing it. Lookwise, I've no complaints as first boxing game, playwise may be totally different.
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
No. Things that influence my purchasing decision is the look of the gameplay, reviews, and when possible, previous rental/demo play. If I let names influence my decisions, I'd never have bought Poy-poy for the PS.
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
I'd say currently both. While I do enjoy the Wii Sports boxing, the Miis can become bland over time. VBR does give more realistic visual - compared to Wii Sports, it wouldn't be that hard to do - and obviously gives anime lovers one more Wii game to add to their collection.

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
- I think that it's great that they are finally bringing a boxing game taht expands off the success of Wii Sports. Many of us are still waiting for fully thought out games based on those base ideas and I hope that this game will succeed in that respect. The Wii needs more games that fully utilize motion controls like they were meant to be used.
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
- I would be more excited about it probably if I was a fan. Depending on how this game stands out as a game on its own outside the anime show will be the true test of its ability to sell well. I would buy it if it was a good game, not solely on the basis that its based on the anime, even if I was a fan.
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
- I think it appeals to both, at least I would hope it would be. Having a game that is true to the anime is not enough. The gameplay needs to be there for people to truly enjoy the title.

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
1. I think it's good to finally see some developers working to realize the potential shown in Wii Sports Boxing. However, it all comes down to how good the controls, so it's biggest selling point is also its biggest point of equivocation.
2. Personally, it makes me more likely to buy. I'm no fan of Hajime No Ippo. Heck, I've never even seen a single episode of it. However, from what I've heard it's like anime meets Rocky. And I LOVE the Rocky movies.
3. To an extent both, but I'd have to say it appeals more to anime fans. Just intuitively, I'd imagine a boxing fan would perfer a realistic aesthetic, a la Fight Night, as opposed to the stylized anime style of VBR.

Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.1. This is a big deal for someone like who loves to stay active and occassionally trains by hitting the bag every once in awhile. When I first saw Wii Sports Boxing, I was excited but eventually disappointed at how shallow and terrible the controls were. With Victorious Boxers having more depth by being a full fledge motion sensing boxing game, I was instantly interested.
2. Yes, it would. I have a HUGE fan of Hajime No Ippo as I have watched the anime and read the manga. If anyone has done either of the two, then they would know how great the series is and that anything involving it (like this game) is like giving the fans a gift. Even if I wasn't the huge fan I was, Victorious Boxers being the first full-fledged motion sensing boxing game is enough appeal for me.
3. I feel the games appeals more to anime fans. This is especially true due to its obvious influences. The thing about anime is that it is a very imaginative culture, so being sucked into the story of Hajime No Ippo and feeling the lives of boxers (albeit overly exagerrated) just lets us experience something different. Not to mention the game happens to be based on a story that features anime characters. Of course, this isn't to say there is no appeal to real boxers. Obviously from the ads shown of real boxers, the general gist of the game is universally appealling to them in some way.

Other CAG Buzz Titles:
1. I like the idea of using the motion sensor for boxing..but what i am worried about is how accurate it can be. Wii Boxing was innaccurate in itself....I really wonder how much can they improve on it.
2. For me, it would. I couldnt see why anyone would purchase the Victorious Boxing series games without it being based on the Anime. Its like if the Naruto Games didnt have naruto in it. Who would really go out and buy it even though..half of the games are subpar. Same goes for Hajime. Dont get me wrong the PS 2 titles are tough and fast paced..but its still no fight night. The Wii version would get the same from me. I would and probably will buy it sooner or later because i like Hajime but if i didnt know about...i wouldnt even look at the back of the box.
3. It definetly appeals to anime fans. if you dont know who Ippo or Takamura are...than your going to feel lost playing the game. You might of as well stuck to Wii Boxing. I feel with these games you have to know the story and the history behind it...same goes for Fight Night games. You cant get the most enjoyment if you dont know about the nuances in the game. A normal boxing fan wouldnt know a gut punch or what the heck a dempsey roll is. if you cant relate to the game..than what fun is their?

I was excited about this game when I first heard of it. I love the Hajime no Ippo series and boxing in the wii sports pack was the best of all sports. The motion controls and different variations seemed like a very good idea that wasn't emplemented with great precision, but I think since this was the first boxing game, it'll leave the developers something to improve on with an already great idea.
The Hajime no Ippo license definitely plays a factor in purchasing this game. My friend had pre ordered this game already solely based on the greatness of the series. I don't see casual fans buying a japanese game based on an american sport.
Boxing fans would be turned off by the story elements of hajime no ippo because there is no "skip" feature. Maybe if they were fans of anime, but for casual fans, which seems to be the dominant type when it comes to the wii. This game is definitely for anime fans.

I think that it would be the same as Wii Sports, but hopefully with a good concept that will make you play this instead. I'm not really anticipating it, but will give consideration.
It was a good anime, and over Wii Sports and this I suppose I'd choose this just because of the franchise.
It will appeal more to anime fans, but other gamers will like it as well. People whol enjoy boxing games probably would call this a mess, because it lacks reality in a boxing game. But I can't really say that; I'm not really a boxing fan.

1. That is excellent, I hope that it spurs any more developers to follow through without hurting their features
2. If I was an avid reader, yeah this would be a plus. But I'm not, so that speaks well for the game

I think its great- and about time! Wii boxing was a small taste of what is possible on the system- so I'm excited to get my hands on this and see what the system has in store.
Well- I'm not a fan, but I am always down for a good story, so it would influence my decision on the purchase. Knowing that there is a good story driving the boxing makes me more apt to buy it.
Definately both to a degree. As an anime game all those who like the characters will want to see the translation to the wii, and as a boxing game all those who want a deeper boxing game than wii sports offered will likely pick this one up. Personally, it appeals to me both as a gamer and a martial artist, my other driving hobby. Any game that even remotely helps me with martial principles (timing, dodging, body mechanics) is very valuable and few and far between.

excited to see how much better it "should" be.
2. I'm more interested now that i know its based off of, or spawned from,
Hajime no Ippo, i have heard that to be a great series, however, i have not
seen it. I am an anime fan however.
3. I think more for the anime fan over the boxing fan, however if a boxing fan
doesn't have a system with the ability to play fight night, then i feel this
would be appealing to them as well. Unless ofcoufse they somehow fit
anime boobs into the game... then the appeal will grow... big breasts

Really looking forward to it. I just hope you actually control the gloves instead of your actions just substituting for button presses.

I am actually excited to see how this would be played. It gives me a reason to power up my Wii. In my eyes my wii gets overlooked to the lack of games availible. I just hope the game does not act as silly as the Wii sports boxing which felt hokey, and underdeveloped.
Well If I was not a fan I would be open to at least checking it out before passing judgement. Because missing out on a sweet game due to lack of knowledge of the franchise would just be downright dumb.
Many anime fans would not purchase a game just for the looks, But boxing fans looking for a game to utilize the action of the wiimote might!

1. Did we forget about wii sports? sure it's not a great boxing game but it uses the controllers as if they were gloves. I hope VB is more advanced in the movements available to a player.
2. Yes, i do believe that because VB is based off of an anime/manga that i would be more likely to buy it. This way i can watch the anime or read the manga and have a story line to go with my gaming.
3. I believe it appeals to both. The gameplay is for the boxing fans and the graphics/animation is for the anime fans.

Think its looking to be a great game. Been hooked on Wii Boxing ever since I got my Wii at launch and now this one has so much depth it will keep me busy.
No, I personally don't watch or read alot of Japanese Anime or manga so it wouldn't persuade me either way.
I actually think it applies to both. The gameplay and look is catered more towards the anime side, but the depth is catered towards boxing enthusiats. So its something for everyone.

1. It's cool. More and more games need to take full advantage of the functionality.
2. Don't care either way.
3. Probably both. There is something in it for everyone I would say.

1) Well I'd say that Wii Sports did it first but I have a feeling that Victorious Boxers does it better. A full sport experience is really worth it when you think about it, because mini-games are fun but fully fleshed out games (like the Pangya Golf games for Wii were to golf) make a lot more sense in the long run.
2) If anything it'd inspire me more to get the game because I'm a huge anime fan even though I haven't seen Hajime no Ippo yet.
3) Quite clearly it is good for both as either can appreciate the game, and if you're a fan of both then I think it's safe to say you'll probably be getting this game (or have bought it already).

1. must be awesome, playing another boxing game but with a anime twist, i've see some gameplay action and i must say it looks great!
2. No, as a anime fan and no knowing this game before im very atracted to it i must say.
3. Both, i like sports games and i like anime, what more i can ask? and i coud be awesome for kids too.

1. With the intro of boxing in Wii Sports and all the other games in Wii Sports gaining entire games devoted to them, it is about time boxing gets the same respect. Better controls then what is in Wii Sports can only make boxing more entertaining.
2. The fact that this is based on something that is award winning will always influence my decision despite whether I am a fan or not. Going off such a strong idea will lead to a great game as they have a level of excellence they have to reach as to not insult the original.
3. I would say that the game is more so for boxing fans as there is more of a physical and combative element to it. However, it also opens itself up to anime fans from what it is based upon. So, the game is for both parties, but more heavily favors boxing fans.

1. I feel like it's about time. Real boxing is just perfect for the wiimote system.
2. The anime relation has no impact on my wanting this game.
3. I'd say boxing fans.

1. How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
While I'd rather a Nintendo made game like Punch Out, at least this is a well known franchise in Japan.
2. The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
I'm into anime in general, so it would have a positive affect on my decision. More importantly, I would read impressions of the game before deciding to purchase.
3. Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
I think boxing fans would probably take this style less seriously - so I'd have to say anime fans.

I'm looking forward to how they implemented this. I wonder how the specials from the anime will be executed (i.e. gazelle punch, dempsey roll, smash, etc). I just hope it doesn't feel like a generic boxing game w/o the anime touch.
Yes. I am very interested in this game because I enjoyed the Anime. If i hadn't watched the anime, I'd have no interest in this game.. but since I was so impressed with the anime, this is a must have.
I think this will be more of an anime fan game. Most games made off of anime's aren't great games. They appeal mainly to the fans of the anime. For a good game that is more realistic, I'd go w/ Fight Night. But I just want to play as Ippo (I created Ippo in Fight Night on the 360... and w/o his specials... it doesn't cut it).

I think that many gamers may have had their fill of boxing on the Wii due to already owning Wii Sports. But, I would still be interested in playing it, provided I could play it before I purchase.
I was unaware of the anime series, but my first reaction would be to stay away from the game, since I'm not an anime fan & have no knowledge of the existing plot or characters.
I think it appeals to both, but probably more so toward fans of the anime. The characters are unfamiliar, at least to me. However, everyone understands the concep of boxing, and so it should be understood what type of game you'll be playing before you try it out.

1.) I feel that it's a great gameplay aspect, and hope other developers adopt similar styles in the future.
2.) I am a huge fan, and think it's great that they're using an established series to base the plot off of.
3.) Both, as this is a popular Anime property and boxing games have proven to be marketable with the genre being a steady seller.

It sounds really cool. I would like to see how good the controls really are.
I've never seen the anime or read the manga, but if I really liked the anime or manga, I would buy this game. I mean it just feels good to take control of one of your heros, or just an overall BA.
Well if the game is really good I don't thing it should matter. Boxing fans will like it if it's good, and anime fans want a good game, not just the characters with a lame game.

I think its awesome, the Wii Sports boxing game was the most fun.
No, never heard of it but the game still sounds good.
I guess both, if people follow the anime they would most likely be interested in the game, on the other hand, people like me who are not familiar with the anime and are very interested in boxing will still find the game appealing.

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves? I really enjoy the idea of having new options in wii games, we have needed a good boxer for the wii.
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify. I have never read the manga or saw the anime but I do enjoy both and I think this would be a good place to test the waters to see if i would like to see it.
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well. I think it does a good job of appealing to both. I mean the boxing fans get their fights and the anime fans get their story.

1. I thinks its a good idea to cash in on the wii's current status. They saw how everyone loved to box on Wii Sports and now they're making a stronger version as a stand alone game. lets see how it does, hopefully its descent :)
2. This will highly impact fans of those series but for those who dont know about them and buy the game it could get them turned onto the magna.
3. Mostly boxing fans because there will be more people who know about that than the anime.

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves? I would have preferred one of the bigger names like Fight Night or Punch Out. But I don't mind too much, it's not who does it first but whomever perfects it first.
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify. I am a long-time fan of the IPPO, and this definitely effects my purchasing decision. It's really only a matter of waiting for the price to drop on the game before picking it up myself (to put next to my IPPO DVD collection)
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well. I think it would appeal to boxing fans who own a Wii and want something a little more than Wii Sport's boxing. I don't believe it will appeal to anime fans, as I have a hard enough time getting my anime friends to watch an anime about boxing.

How do you feel about Victorious Boxers being the first boxing/sports game offered on Wii with the motion sensor feature of using the controller as if it were gloves?
It was something that was finally needed. Boxing on the Sports pak was fun yet simple. This could show what a real boxing game can do.
The game is also based on an award winning manga and anime, “Hajime No Ippo,” AKA “Fighting Spirit” in USA. Whether you are a fan or not, would this affect your purchasing decision? Please specify.
Liscencing does not affect my purchase decisions. Your not playing a movie, book, etc., you're playing the GAME.
Do you feel this game best appeals to boxing fans, anime fans, or both? Please share your personal feelings as well.
I feel anyone can enjoy it, but it's going to be more geared towards sports fans.

1) I think it was obvious choice to add such a feature to the game. Being first to add a feature is fine but it won't matter unless it was implemented correctly (aka Red Steel aiming compared to Medal of Honor 2)
2) Have been a fan of the series and have watched the entire anime series + movies. Even so, it wouldn't influence my decision as I only buy games I think are worth it. There are many anime franchises that have been translated to games and are horrible.
3) It would appeal to people who have played Wii Sports and would like to have a more expanded experience until a Fight Night or similar game comes out. It should certainly appeal to fans of the series as well since they can play familiar faces. People who don't belong to either of these categories may be more difficult to appeal to.

1. I'm surprised that this is the first boxing game for the Wii (besides Wii Sports), since you'd think Nintendo would capitalize on a revival of Punch Out or EA with Fight Night. Good to see at least someone is giving it a shot.
2.Not really; I never buy a game solely due to the license it carries.
3. I think it appeals more to anime fans versus boxing fans because I think the art style would turn off those who are into boxing.

I would have like to have seen Punch Out first.

I sure that for fans of the anime this would be a must buy but I think it will sell well to non fans also.

Both and neither...I happen to be an anime fan and not a boxing fan but I am interested in the game more for the Wii controls than anything else.

Glad to see that it has been done. Honestly with this feature I thought more title would have used this by now (even a super punch out remake)
No, I haven't read the story and that doesn't affect me. I play a game to enjoy the game if it leads me go check out other mediums then thats a good thing.
Boxing fans more then the other. Boxing fans have been waiting for a game like this since we play wii sports.

Enjoyed the boxing on the wii sports, so am interested in this boxing game.
Never heard of either so would not influence me in buying this game.
boxing fans and anyone interested in trying out the different styles of play that can be achieved via the wii sensor.

Question 1: I think that it was a great idea and it had a lot of potential from what i have seen from trailers. It would seem to be one of the first games that would come to mind with the motion sensor.
Question 2: It would definitely affect the purchasing of the game if i had read the manga/watched the anime and liked it but i have not seen it/read it. It would definitely boost the chances of me buying it if i did.
Question 3: I think it is a little bit of both, boxers will have fun with it and will be competitive when playing and others will enjoy playing it and possibly enjoy it even more with the anime looking characters. I like games that are very japanese like, such as zack and wiki, I loved the graphics and it made me want to buy the game even more.
