For those of you looking for the Zelda Collector's disc, I saw it at a Long Island GameStop for S19.99. This is B&M only, as it's not a retail item and won't show up on any online ordering sites. For all I know, certain GameStops may refuse to accept it as a trade-in. All I know is that I saw it where I'm at, and I hope some of you who missed out are just as lucky.

Is the offer to get this by purchasing two games with the codes now dead? If it is, then I am sad.

Yeah that deal is dead...I tried it the other day :(

The nintendo power route would be the way to go. A subscription plus a brand new killer game is a good deal.

I'm all the way out in Bellport (south central Suffolk, if you didn't know). Is it me or does Nassau Co. get all the cheap ass deals on LI? :D

I work at a GS. We had one in a week ago, but it was $29.99. Perhaps they lowered the price, perhaps not.

I have also seen this one at my Gamestop (burnsville, MN) for $19.99.

How can they sell this? Doesn't it say on the box promotional disc, not for resale?

Never underestimate the levels that Gamestop will stoop to for a quick dollar.

Maybe Nintendo will sue and they'll start closing down stores, selling at discount prices, people making off like looters...

Oh, the humanity!

It was at a Gamestop near me (Utica, MI) for $40

I've already got it, so I didn't care, but DAMN, Gamestop.

According to Gamestop.com, the price should be $19.99.

To see if it's at a Gamestop near your area, type in your zip code and preferred distance, and a screen will pop up telling you the nearest stores where it is available.

And here's some info for all Portland, OR CAGers: The site says there was one copy at the Eastport Plaza location. I went there around 1pm and bought it, and it was $19.99. The site says there is still one copy there, but I only saw one copy of it when I was there, so they might have gotten another copy after I left or something, or maybe they didn't. It also says there was one at the Lloyd Center location but I was there later and didn't see it in the used GC stuff. The site also says there are 1-3 copies at the Clackamas Promenade location, (across Sunnyside Road near Target, not in the Clackamas Town Center Mall) Washington Square, and Sunset Esplanade in Hillsboro. So if anyone in the Portland, OR area really wants a used copy, you might want to check those places.

Hope that helps someone out.

I personally don't have a problem with Gamestop selling the collector's disk. At least that way, folks that don't have it can aquire it. I mean if you get down to it, game companies don't want ANY used games sold. They would rather have everyone buy new. The second hand market is just something that have to tolerate now.
The thing that bothers me is Gamestop trying to sell a game that was free for close to the price of a new game. If I hate to venture a guess, I would say that they probably gave the person that traded it in $10 or less credit. That just isn't right.

Not to raise an argument here, but Gamestop isn't selling it new, they are selling it used. People have sold their copies to the store. Nobody made a big deal when SNES demo carts (originally used in store displays) popped up in game stores, and nobody made a big deal when Genesis pack-in carts of Sonic 2 (labeled "not for resale" on the box) were found preowned at game stores either. If I had bought the Zelda collector's disc at a pawn shop, would you be saying that Nintendo needed to hear about it? If Gamestop were selling the disc new, there would be an issue.

The Ebgames around me was selling the disks new when it first came out. The price drop on the Gamecube had folks picking more of them up and while I was in there, I saw them sell two of them at $99. The employee would say "We will give you $15 dollars off your total if you give us the game inside of this bundle" and short sightedly, both customers took them up on the offer.....and I watched as the EBgames worker priced both the disks at $39.99 and put them in the glass case for sale. The worker is a friend of mine and I said after the customer left "Man, thats pretty f***ed up" and he said he was only doing as the manager had instructed him to do.

Now that's something to report to Nintendo about.

Might as well turn in videogamedepot while you're at it. They've been selling the disk by itself for a while now. Dunno if they have any left though.

What's messed up is that I've seen a few EB's selling the OTHER Zelda disc (the one that only has the two N64 games) for about $40. Wonder if anyone'e ignorant enough to actually buy those?

Never underrstimate the depths of stupidity of people.

slowly for the extra chromosome crowd.

People who have recieved the zeruda disc trade it in to gamestop for credit.

Gqmestop sells the game as a used trade in.

Ive seen quite a few of those at Gamestop for $29.99. Wonder how many people sold that disc once they got the Collector's Edition... but both EB and Gamestop are charging too much for it considering that the Collector's Edition has a lot more for just $20 used. Then again, I haven't seen how much EB charges for a Collector's Edition disc. If they're charging $10 more than Gamestop for the other disc, that's not a good sign.

Yes, I know this. They are labeled NOT FOR RESALE. They can be sold new, but cannot be RESOLD once opened.

The whole "Not for resale" thing is used in all sorts of media... with music CDs, for example, they'll ship a whole bunch of CDs to like a radio station and they'll all say "not for resale" on them. That's so the station doesn't sell them back to some retail outlet, which would then sell them as retail items to the public. But there's nothing to stop them from selling all the CD's to some secondhand (non-retail) outlet, however. There's a used CD store close to me that is right down the road from a radio station, and I buy used, "not for resale" items from there all the time.

I have a feeling the same thing applies to the games here. The "Not For Resale" is just a guarantee that the games won't show up in like a Circuit City or Sam Goody being sold for a retail price, making someone else a profit. But being sold somewhere as a used item, directly to an end user, is fine. At least I think that's how it works.

The NOT-FOR-SALE doesnt mean jack. There is no criminal laws concerning this type of product. We live in a capitalistic society where just about anything is for sale. If you own it...you can sell it. If you bought it legally...you can sell it. However..if Mr. X has a contract with Nintendo to sell the Bundled Cubes and he takes them apart and sells the Disk seperate then he is breaking his contract with Nintendo which is not criminal it is civil law. But whoever he sells those discs to can basically do what he wants as the liablility of the contract was with Mr X. This is how this works. Also Nintendo normally doesnt force anyone to sign contracts on Bundles so its open to distributors, wholesalers, and retailers to take them apart. Do not be suprised if Nintendo is selling these direct to Liquidators. Its a really strong chance that they are. Basically if Nintendo can sell them why shouldnt they. The NOT-FOR-SALE almost makes them easier to sell.

blah...I have said enough

if its used, who cares?! they can sell it if they want.

i would still suggest the Nintendo Power route instead. i did that, and i got my game in the mail in just over a week. sure, the magazine sucks and is just Nintendo propaganda, but getting a sealed copy of the game out of it is certainly better than getting a used one.... and i'm sure you could find some kid up the street who would love to take the mag off your hands each month! ;)

Game Stop can resell it because it is used and now new.
