Now that the 40GB PS3 is coming out, when will the PS2 price be $99?

Sorry, but you have to be a member for one year before you receive that information.

Next year.

I thought it would coincide with the PS3 price drop.

As soon as they figure out how to remove $30 worth of functionality from it. Seems to be their thing.

I would have expected it to be $100 back at E3, but nope. I'd assume after the holidays now that nothing has been announced yet.

ebay is your friend. You can get used much lower than $100.

Eww used?

Anyway, I thought I heard that the PS2 would be $99.99 at the same time the 40GB came out. So probably soon. By the way tell Miss Pretty USA I said hi.

Oh, i dunno... removing the fan seemed like $30 worth of functionality. ;)

Hey - I picked up a used slimline on ebay with 1 ps1 controller, 2 ps2 dualshock controllers (admittedly, one proved effectively broken) and one third-party controller, a complete copy of Madden '07 and a Sony memory card for something like $95 shipped several months back and it's all in great shape (except that one controller). Has been working beautifully ever since. I also just picked up two black Logitech Action wireless controllers (used, but in great shape) from two different Gamestops for $15 each. They work great. You can opt to pay more for less if you wish, but I'll pay less for more, thanks.

I paid $7.97 for two brand new Logitech wireless PS2 controllers at a Sears. I've bought used systems in the past but I won't do it any more. You just don't know what they've been through and I can afford the extra $30.

They did that when they made the PStwo slim.

They'll announce the price drop the day after your return-window expires when you buy it at $129. :)

Does the PS2 Slim have overheating issues still?

I would think there would be a thread if it did.

Mine has been fine from day one. Just don't wrap it in a blanket and throw it in the oven, you should be good.

if they announced it for this holiday season i'm pretty sure they'd outsell everything, even the wii

Eww used? I was able to get a used silver slim PS2 on eBay for $88 shipped. Everything was practically brand new & working great. When I did my search, I stayed away from auctions that used stock photos, poor/generic descriptions, and sellers with poor feedback. I searched until I found someone with honest shipping fees and a good feedback rating.

I know what you're saying though. There are some really grimy used PS2s out there. :puke:

I doubt it. A LOT of people have a PS2 already. I'm not saying there is no chance but the Wii will be more in demand this holiday season.

and I just bought one of them. It was cheap ($75), but the person who owned it before the person who sold it to me must've only played it when they were eating-- there was sticky food stuff everywhere on the machine-- on top, on the front around the controller/memory card ports, in the disc tray etc. :puke: I went to down on it with a bottle of rubbing alcohol and goo gone and now it looks fine.

As for a $99 system, maybe they'll do it this November. It would be cool if they came out with a new revision that upscales and smooths PS2 games

Slightly off topic:
I was at Kmart yesterday for 5 minutes and 2 mothers asked for the Wii.

Today I was at BB and another mother asked for the Wii. BB had a line this morning.

Believe me, I looked for those. If I'd found them I'd definitely have been even happier. Unfortunately every Sears I've looked at has been pretty much a complete bust. Definitely no cheap controllers. So, $15 each for used is the best I've found, and so far these things are working perfectly and they were very clean too.

man i should sell my old fatty then soon (before next year, i doubt theyll drop the price this holiday season at this point)

hmm wonder how much i could get for that, 2 controllers, 2 official memory cards, a headset and anywhere from 6-10 games...

but yeah back on topic i really doubt it will happen this year...probably next spring or something or even maybe the fall of 08

The fatty already dropped in value. Gamecrazy only gives 22 bucks while Gamestop gives 20 for the fat.

Probably as soon as the PS2 stops outselling the PS3.
