Honestly, it would be best if the game died.

The concept of the game intrigues me hard enough to want to see a finished products. Graphics be damned if it plays well!

I strongly echo this statement. To hell with the graphics. I still play 2D sidescrollers. I play the SNES more than the PS3. I'm hyped for this, it's one i've been looking forward to for a while.

The 2D sprites are awful but the 3D is shaping up quite nicely. Keep in mind that Nintendo bought Monolith, the company doing this game so they had to see something special in this - aka Retro Studios.

The difference is that SNES graphics look well, and will forever plus play well. I'm not a graphics whore, but at least make the game look smooth. Hopefully the game plays well, I even have my doubts about that.

I can't see the first pictures that people are saying look bad, but this pic in no way looks bad to me. When I think of bad graphics, I think of something that makes the game unplayable. This pic (maybe the others look worse, but I can't see them) looks like anything from last generation and that is perfectly fine by me.

Looks fine to me (hopefully it plays well), though I thought it was more of a natural disaster game like Disaster Report. I didn't realize you would be shooting guns in it. I didn't make it all the way through Disaster Report so maybe you shot guns in it later, not sure.

Looks pretty low res/blurry to me.

But moot point as it doesn't look like the type of game I'd like regardless of graphics anyway. Not a big fan of the 3rd person shooter/action type games--Gears and RE4 aside.

The game is by the same people who did Xenosaga, Baten Kaitos, and Namco X Capcom. I'm honestly not sure what to expect.

You don't like anything man.

Platformers, good FPSs, puzzle games (but only on handhelds), some action games (God of War, RE4 etc.), action RPGs (Zelda, Okami etc.), some racers (Mario Kart, Gran Turismo), somewhat RPGS (final fantasy, KOTOR) but not much time for 40 hour games these days, sports sims (especially soccer) etc.

I like plenty. Just not many good games in those genre's on the Wii yet.

But my gaming drought solved with the 360 and 5 games from Frys on the way. :D

Loved Zelda. Loved Metroid. Liked Super Paper Mario.

I just don't love everything released on the Wii like some of you fanboys who even get excited for shovelware like Carnival Games, and blurry looking N64-esque games like this.

I like good, AAA games period. Don't give a shit what system they are on. I have no loyalties or biases to any of the three companies.

And by 'don't love' you probably mean won't give a chance because you're 'too busy' with your life (aka posting how your life is 'too busy' to play games on CAG).

As for your N64 comparison:

Carnival Games is good and believe it or not, some people don't mind mini-games that are well done, easy to get into and easy to get out of.

Yeah, see that blurriness, that's the N64-esque part. I wasn't saying it looked like an N64 game (hense the "esque", just that it had that anti-aliased, vaseline on the camera look to it.

As for busy etc., I played 2 hours of Guitar Hero 2, and played SMB on the virtual console tonight, so I'm doing just fine.

I just don't waste time on anything I don't consider a triple AAA game as far as purchases go. I do rent a good bit of games on top of what I buy though.

Pretty much anything getting a 7.5-8.0 or higher on gamerankings that's in a genre I like I'll check out at some point. I just haven't cared much for (i.e. considered worth a purchase) most of the Wii games I've checked out--Zelda, Metroid and SPM aside.

Fair enough. I hate them on consoles. Only fire up my console if I have a good couple of horus to sit down and play.

Mini games are ok occasionally on portables where pick up and play games are more handy. But I still really prefer puzzle games for that vs. mini games.

But as with any thing gaming related, to each their own. I realize others like them, I just don't really consider Carnival games a very good mini-game collection.

I rented it, and didn't like it. Controls just didn't feel very tight (i.e. too far from 1:1 controls, speed didn't seem to matter in Skee Ball etc.), and just seemed bland in general. Raving Rabbids is a much better mini-game collection IMO.

It's hard to bash a game (Carnival Games) when it has been #1 on the Wii Charts fpr 3 straight weeks(the link is posted somewhere on this site :) , I just don't remember where).

It might not be your tastes, but clearly it strikes the right chord with gamers on the Wii.

I will agree that Rayman is better, as it is one of the best on the system.

Oh, fuck off. You started it. All I did was post my opinion ON THIS GAME. You lead to the hijack by jumping on it saying I didn't like anything, and then that I hate the Wii.

I like plenty of games, and have long been a huge Nintendo fan. Most Wii games have dissapointed me thus far, just like most first year PS3 games and most first year 360 games a while back.

I have no bias, I just post my opinions, which thus far have been negative on most games. If you don't want to read them, and just want to hear positive stuff from the other fanboys, throw me on ignore. That way you won't over-react to my opinions and derail threads.

Looks about the same as the new screens to me. And I don't think Metroid ever looked that bad. All the screens I recall seeing left me thinking "at least it looks slightly better than the GC games" where as this looks no where near as good as the best looking GC games.

Anyway, the main difference between the video and the new screenshots is that originally the game was being developed in 4x3. Everything 16X9 in the video is should be assumed to be pre-rendered. It now looks like the game has been changed to be completely setup for widescreen 16x9 play.

dmaul1114

Yeah, I saw the aspect ratio change. But that doesn't fix the blurriness issue I had with the screenshots (and the old video). The fact that it's in both doesn't give me much hope that it will be fixed given the time length between the two already.

As for goodbye. Nope, consider me your personal troll from now on. :D

That's setting the bar awfully low. The Wii is supposedly 2 times more powerful than the Gamecube. The PS2 wasn't even as powerful as the GC.

So why should we be happy with games that look as good as PS2 games? Much less an older PS2 game that's not even close to being one of the best looking games on that system?

I mean if it plays great, I'll overlook the graphics most of the time. But the Wii is a next gen system, it can do much better than those screens. I mean Metroid Prime 3 is a damn fine looking game, and blows that blurry mess away.

Looking that bad just makes it look like a half assed 3rd party game.

Yeah, that was my thought when I heard Nintendo picked them up last year. But I'm not very inspired by the game not looking any better (other than going to widescreen) than it did in the year plus video.

And Nintendo published Mario Party 8 looking like a lesser GC game, including only being in 4:3 (was it only 480i too?), so don't put it past them to publish crappy looking games. Especially for an under the radar second party game.

But at any rate, hopefully it will look better. My post was more in disbelief that people are fine with next gen games looking like early gen PS2 games, than any real concern over the game.

...just suprise me as I'm not sure why anyone would even buy a next gen console if they're 100% fine with games looking like early gen PS2 games (i.e. among the worst looking big game of last generation).

The Wii isn't the PS3 or 360, but it can do MUCH better than GTA3 as we've seen from Metroid and other games.

Being ok with GTA3 level graphics, and buying such games, just encourages half assed efforts from developers IMO.

The sooner we beat this idea out of humanity, the better.

One person might have the opinion that raping children is fun.

That is the example of a wrong opinion.

Hiding behind it is basically right up there with screaming out "Yeah...uh....well my dad can beat up your dad!" and then running home.
