I have a PS3 (the 20GB one, so I assume I can do BC). I want to know a few titles (that I can FIND in stores) of PS2* games that are worth my time/I may have missed out on (I was not a PS2 owner).

NOTE: I have played the MGS series. This, infact, has influenced my purchase of a PS3. I want names of a few other good games.

Thanks

There's a million of these threads around..

But it would help to know what genres you like, ect.

Games you can't go wrong with:

Fatal Frame 1-3 (may be a bit hard to find.. the rest should be fairly easy)
Resident Evil 4 (if you haven't played it on other consoles)
God of War 1-2
Shadow of the Colossus
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Persona 3

Plus a ton more.. there's so many quality PS2 games.

If you like puzzle games, you are in luck. PS2 has some classics like:

Katamary Damacy
Worms (all are good)
Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo II
Culdcept
Bomberman (lots to choose from)

HaVe FuN! :bouncy:

If fighting games are your thing, there are:

Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore
Marvel vs Capcom 2 (super rare and costly!)
Capcom vs SNK2

For flying sims, Ace Combat 4/5/Zero have the market pretty cornered.

Hmm...might pickup Shadow of Col, Kingdom Hearts, and .... something else?

I'm going to be so broke* this November/Dec.

*= Of course, not from PS2 games. :p

Devil May Cry series
Disgaea or Disgaea 2
Kingdom Hearts 1 or 2
Onimusha series
Prince of Persia series

You've missed out on a lot of splendid games by skipping the PS2.

I'm in the same boat as you, but going to get a PS2 once the price drops to $99.

I already bought God of War, Shadow of Colossus, Bully for $14.99 each from BB.

Be sure to use the $5 off any PSP, PS2, PS3 coupon at your local BB. Coupon expires 10/28/07.

Here's the thread http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152099

Be sure to size it down smaller in Paint.

You can also get some Greatest Hits (GH) games from buy.com and use GCO to get it for about $15 shipped. I did that for Champions of Norrath.

God of War 1 & 2 are MUST Haves. (Waiting for God of War 2 to be a GH)

I'm also just getting back into PS2 gaming. I haven't played in a year, and there's some games I want try out. The last game I played was Final Fantasy XII.

I found Devil May Cry 3 & Dragon Quest VII cheap on eBay. I just have to wait for my memory cards and I'm all set. I already pre-ordered Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, and I might get MLB Power Pros some other time.

For DMC series, where should I start, just DMC 1? I hope I can find that...

I didn't see Ico listed above that's one of my favorites, might be difficult to find in stores but ebay has a lot of copies. Disgaea is my favorite game overall and Final Fantasy XII is my favorite RPG. The battle systems in both those games are incredible and incredily addictive.

For DMC series, where should I start, just DMC 1? I hope I can find that... If you want to play all of them, I guess DMC1 would be a good place to start. I'm guessing that DMC3 has improved gameplay over DMC1. If you play DMC3 first, then the other games might pale in comparison when you play them. That's just my guess though. The only one I've ever played was DMC1.

I played DMC1 several years ago; it was pretty good. I've never played DMC2 before, but I've read various reviews that said it wasn't that good. DMC3 has plenty of positive reviews though.

Oh yeah, there's a DMC3 Special Edition with extra features. I think this version is included in the Anniversary Collection.

Just play DMC3:Special Edition. It's the best one by far. I don't think you're missing out on much if you skip the first 2.

also, here are some other good games no one has mentioned:

--Gitaroo Man
--the Red Star
--Persona 3

Max Payne. And Max Payne 2. I got em for like $4.00 total at my local Gamestop. For the price, that could very well be one of, if not the best video game purchases I've ever made. Though both are very good, if necessary, I would get the Jak series rather than the R & C. Just because, the Jak series actually has an interesting, clever story that makes me care about the characters in a more significant way. Though, I'd say R & C might deliever more laughs. If you are into mech customization, try the Armored Core series. What else...what else. Everything really good thats PS2 exclusive has already been listed, for the most part. You could try the Guncon games, lol. The Gran Turismo games are good for racing, but I personally enjoy Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix the best. Also, for some major backwards compatability, try Harvest Moon for the PS1. I like the Monster Rancher series as well. Its sorta like Poke'mon, except not....You train monsters to fight on your ranch. I think its fun, but it takes lots of time if you want to unlock them all. The really inovative part about it is that you put in random disks and get different monsters from them.
