1. No...I think I'm done with Guilty Gear...
2. It's easy to get into, it's just that all the good players are insane at it.
3. I'd say it ranks higher since the characters are pretty unique. (I'm in love with Bridget...TRAP!!!) The graphics have a nice style to them too.

1. I'm a 2D fighting fan and I enjoyed the other Guilty Gear games I have played, I think I would buy it based on the past Guilty Gear games.
2. I think its harder to get into because it is rather unique in its presentation and style as opposed to more popular Street Fighter, Capcom vs series, etc.
3. It easily ranks in the top, because it is so unique and because the gameplay is actually very good,

1. I love the 2D fighting games and have been a big fan of Guilty Gear specifically. My purchase of the game would be due more to the franchise though instead of the genre.
2. 2D fighters are very easy to pick up but can be very difficult to master. Guilty Gear has always had a rather unique following. How this would be on the Wii is still up in the air.
3. I have always been more of a Street Fighter fan personally but Guilty Gear is quite enjoyable. From what I've seen of Accent Core, I would say it will fit in very nicely with the other 2D games in collection.

1. I would purchase it as a 2D fighting fan in general.
2. The gameplay is obscure, but Guilty Gear allows for newbies to have fun while button-mashing.
3. I would probably rank Guilty Gear below the Street Fighter series but well above Marvel vs. Capcom. Then again, I don't understand much of the game's nuance, so that could change with enough play. One of the biggest pros is definitely the amount of characters.

1. If I were to purchase this game, it would be because I am a 2-D fighting game fan. Although I have played and enjoyed previous GG titles, it is not at the top of my favorite fighters.
2. I think for people who experienced the SFII phenomenon, it would be very easy for them to get into this game. Most 2d fighters use similar "hadoken", HCF/HCB, DP, or charge movements so many fighting game veterans will be able to find what character fits their style. For new games however, I can see them viewing 2d as a dated subpar genre.
3. Sadly, although GG is an excellent 2d fighter, the SF series and many of the SNK series rank above this game. Those other series were games I grew up with and invested quite a bit of myself into. Still, GG is a very refined 2d fighter and worth any gamers attention.
1. Though I've played the a lot of the ps2 guilty gear titles, imo this one probably more rent than purchase.
2. For me it was an easy pick up and play title. I've never been good at playing 2-D fighters but even with that I've been able to beat my friends a couple times with the one hit KO special
3. I think it ranks mid-range in the genre as it certainly doesn't compare to the elite 2-D fighters, but the obscure names and personalities of the characters in the series definately makes the game worth checking out.

1: I've only played 1 GG title before for a short while, but it was fun, so i'd possibly buy this one.
2: It was easy to get into, but there's incredibly complicated stuff in there.
3: I'd probably say I liked GG more than the old school SF games, but stuff like Third Strike I liked better.

1. I would purchase it if it weren't for the high entry fee. The control has me iffy and the Wii wouldn't be my first choice on where to purchase a fighter.
2. I think it has the basics as any other fighter plus the depth for those who choose to get into it.
3. I would rank it in a mid-high to high range. Creative characters and probably the pioneer of great looking 2D sprites/animation in a fighter.

10-17-2007, 05:10 AM
1: Yes, but probably not at full price.
2:Much easier than 3d fighters to get into, unless you're really young I don't see how this can be obscure.
3:Guilty Gear would be ranked around the middle, Street Fighter basically created and cemented this genre as mainstream. I'm curious to see hoe the Wii controls are fit to this, I hope they have option for classic contls though.

I've played a few Guilty Gear titles, and I've been pleased with each one. Well, I'm a big 2-D fighting game fan anyway so this is one of those titles that I'm sure I'll pick up regardless.
These types of games are really easy for me to get into, I mean I don't have to worry about some strange button theme, such as a "block" button.
Guilty Gear would be right behind Street Fighter in my books, my ultimate favorite was the Marvel/Capcom series of 2-D fighters. Guilty Gear has always had the most interesting of characters to say the least and for that alone I've always enjoyed this series.

I would consider purchasing it as a fan of 2-D games in general.
I think the game is pretty dificult to get into, as far as fighters go, but it could be thats its just a different paradigm that I'm not used to.
Its very different from the Street Fighter series. I think the basic level is too complicated. Too many gauges for example. You can have a competitive grade fighting game with lots of depth without bogging down the base system. 3rd strike, for example. I certainly like the music, the designs, and the animations though.

1. No...I think I'm done with Guilty Gear...
2. It's easy to get into, it's just that all the good players are insane at it.
3. I'd say it ranks higher since the characters are pretty unique. (I'm in love with Bridget...TRAP!!!) The graphics have a nice style to them too.
2) #2 is definitely my issue. I'm fine at 2D fighters, but the craze in the 90s totally destroys the desire for a new or weak player to get into it, especially the online factors. I think the "online versus" in Streets of Rage 2 is a good example. Even if you were BAD and beat someone even WORSE, people whined and call you a cheater ("Dude, I usually suck as bad as you do... I'm surprised I'm winning...")
To answer the questions completely out of order, the Guilty Gear series is an interesting enough twist on the 2D fighters that it stands out, but i don't think it really jumps out for many American fans. Based on my experiences, it'll be a fun title that I'll watch for, but there really hasn't been any real advertising to grab regular gamers. (#1)
In the same regard, #3 is unfair. Street Fighter was not just a game, it was a phenomenon. You can't compare the two. No game in the Guilty Gear series has ever reached the level of acceptance or interest that a SF or MK game has in the states. Those games have the stronger franchise pedigree. From a gameplay standpoint, the differences are not as strong and I think GG is fun and unique enough that it can stand out with all the 2D fighters still being made. I think it's up there, but doesn't have the clout a SF/MK would.

1) I wil buy this game because I always love a 2d fighter. This is also my favorite kind of fighter. There are some cool moves that can be done.
2) This is one of those games that goes by the old phrase "Easy to get into, difficult to master".
3) I would say that Guilty Gear is one of the best fighting series of all time with it's unique art style and characters

1. I'd buy it, both because I have played and enjoyed past versions of the series, and as a fan of 2D fighting games. There aren't too many around still, and it saddens me that the GG game to follow this one will be 3D.
2. Depends on where you're coming from. For someone who's played a lot of the genre before, sure. I've tried to get some of my friends who've played mostly newer fighters (soul calibur, tekken, etc) and it took them a little while to get it down.
3. For me, GG is up there with the best; I think I enjoy the pacing and style of things especially. Its just too bad that the series never quite gained a lot of "mainstream" popularity.

1. I would buy this because I am a fan of 2D fighting games.
2. I think that this is a nice game to get into, just like any other 2d fighting game. It has its own set of combos and what not, I wouldn't mind learning them.
3. I'm not too big of a fan of this franchise, I like Street Fighter better than this. I'd rank Guilty Gear under Street Fighter, Melty Blood; but above SNK games.

1. I'm a huge Guilty Gear fan and I've picked up every version/sequel of the game for at least one console:
PS1 - Guilty Gear
PS2 - Guilty Gear X
PS2 - Guilty Gear X+ DX Pack (JP)
PS2 - Guilty Gear X2
PS2 - Guilty Gear Isuka
PS2 - Guilty Gear Slash (JP)
XBOX - Guilty Gear XX# Reload
GBA - Guilty Gear Advance
DS - Guilty Gear Dust Strikers
PSP - Guilty Gear XX# Reload (JP)
PSP - Guilty Gear Judgement
Wonderswan - Guilty Gear Petit (JP)
Wonderswan - Guilty Gear Petit 2 (JP)
I really want to play Guilty Gear on Wii, but as I live in Japan and own an American Wii, I haven't had a chance. :(
2. I think the game is really easy for people to get into since there are several "standard" characters who fight like SF/KOF characters, and also some crazy original characters that are fun for casual players.
3. I prefer Guilty Gear over Street Fighter because its the series that got me into fighting games! I tried to get into SF2 in arcades back in the day, but every time I'd start playing, some punk kid would pop a quarter in slot 2 and whoop me. It certainly wasn't fun paying money to try to play a game and be kicked off the machine in less than 2 minutes. The first time I played Guilty Gear I was able to pull off some super moves and actually won my first match! I became a big fan of the series and it inspired me to get into other 2D fighters like SFA and KOF.

1. No it needs to stand out on its own not just as part of the series.
2. you can always get into a good fighting game.
3.It would be about in the middel.

1. Yes, but even @ $40 it seems too high...
2. It's more for "hardcore" gamers...
3. I'd rank it middle of the pack, with Capcom fighters coming in first, then Sammy fighters like GG and Fist of the Northstar, then SNK (sorry SNK fans!)

1. To be honest, I've never actually had a chance to play a Guilty Gear game before. I've enjoyed a lot of other 2-d fighters, and since I really want a good one for my Nintendo, this seems to be the obvious choice.
2. I think any 2-d fighters nowadays are hard to get into. Many people have moved on to simplified fighters that look pretty. The complexity of 2-d fighters seem to keep a lot of people away from them.
3. From what I've read, it's a great 2-d fighter. Problem is, I can't compare what I don't know.

1.I'm not sure. The last Guilty Gear title I purchased was X2, I'm not informed on the series well enough to know how many revisions they've had since. I am interested in this version of Guilty Gear since it's on the wii and I'm curious as to how it controls.
2. I think it's easy to get into (as in learning the basics). I think the problem is that a newcomer would probably only be able to play against someone who is familiar with the series, and thus will have a hard time catching up to their level.
3. I've been a Street Fighter fan since Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight. :) I much prefer the zoning/spacing and other gameplay mechanics of Street Fighter, but they both play differently and are solid titles. When I'm not in the mood for one, the other can take it's place.

1. While I definitely had fun with the first Guilty Gear game I played on ps2, I tend to be wary of sequels which don't look too different from the original. Street Fighter fatigue I guess.
2. Guilty Gear does have some more complicated nuiances, so it's definitely better to get into it at the same time as someone you're playing against multiplayer. If you thought Street Fighter was too complicated prepare to have your butt handed to you.
3. I would certainly consider the franchise to be up there with Street Fighters of late. It certainly has more staying power than the old Neo Geo fighters like Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting with the exception of the excellent Samurai Showdown. The real question is whether the Wii control scheme really adds something to the experience.

1. Due to playing past iterations.
2. I think it's too obscure, but in the case of the Guilty Gear series it's worth it.
3. I'd rank it #1, mostly due to it's frenetic pace and quirky style. It's really the only game of this genre that appeals to me.

1) I would keep coming back because I love the game, I think they do a good job adding components to keep the game interesting in every installment.
2) It takes a while to get into and if you want to do any of the really cool moves, you gotta put some practice, but still very accessible
3) I think in Guilty Gear games, there are alot more different ways to go about fighting, while in street fighter the name of the game is deplete the opponents life bar. Animation wise both are on the same level but Guilty gear definitely gets points for having some characters that are pretty out there

I am a huge GG fan and 2d fighter fan in general so I will almost certainly buy this.

I would rank it fairly high but I prefer SF and the VS series.

1. I am a big fighting game fan and a fan of the GG series. Although this game is only a small update from past GG games I would still purchase it.
2. I think it is pretty easy to learn the basics and play with people on your skill elvel. If you wish to learn the finer points of the game it will take some time.
3. Growing up playing Street Fighter will make me rank it higher as I am bias towards it. GG is a great game on it's own though and plays a lot different than SF.

1. I'm a big fan of 2d fighters as well as a player of the older games. There's no reason not to get this game for me!
2. It is somewhat obscure I guess. A lot of people will pass on a game because of it's graphics nowadays. I wish there were more games like this out there.
3. I love the fast paced nature of it. It ranks up there with Street Fighter and King of Fighters for me. I definitely feel it is one of the best series available out there right now. The music is brilliant. No other fighter game has as great of a soundtrack as Guilty Gear, that's for sure.

1. I'd buy it from playing past iterations. I really got into the PSP version.
2. Not really, the visual gags are pretty out there, and it takes a lot for people to get into 2D games now.
3. I'll go Street Fighter, Marvel/Capcom, GG, SNK

1. If I were to purchase it it would be because of playing 2D fighting games, but if I played past iterations of it it would be a buy once it dropped in price if I liked preveious iterations.
2. I think most fighting games are easy to get into, but the combos and stuff need practice. GG doesn't look any different.
3. I would rank it above most (but below Smash Bros.:D) because it looks less like a cookie-cutter fighter and looks like it changes up the recipie a bit.

1. I've only played Guilty Gear once in the past, and I like it because it vaguely reminded me of Street Fighter 3. So, I guess it's a combination of both.
2. I despise anime, or, rather, most anime. From what I remember, the actual fighting mechanic was fun, and I'm willing to look past its style if its fun enough.
3. It was fun, but Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom are still at the top.

1. Yes, Guilty Gear is a decent game and its not because there are 3-D figthing games that I am going to stop playing 2-D ones.
2. Well the games is not really hard to get into. Grab the controller and smash like a crazy if you want! :P
3. I think that Guilty Gear is worth our times like any other fighting games like Street Fighter

1. I've only played the DS version and that wasn't good. I've heard the Wii version is better so I might give it a try.
2. This kind of fighting game is hard to get into because it requires alot of pratice to be good at it.
3. I like the Street Fighter games better, I've only played one Guilty Gear game before so I really can't give a fair comparison

1. I would purchase Guilty Gear XX Accent Core as a 2-D fighting game fan in general. Since, I like fighting games and age doesn't necessary mean a game is good. It could just be lucky like Taco Bell restaurants from the movie Demolition Man.
2. I fell that the Guilty Gear games are pretty easy to get into. Sure, there is a little learning curve at first, but after a couple of matches, you get the gist of things. I don't think the style or gameplay is too obscure, but it can be overlooked by other fighters like Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, Marvel vs Capcpm, etc...
3. I would rank it pretty high. The characters are pretty unique and if you are a fan of anime, the character models should interest you. The only thing that I don't like about the Guilty Gear games would be the on hit kills. Sure, they are a fun way to piss a friend off, but that's not where all the fun lies.

1. I love fighting games it doesn't matter what the franchise is!
2. I think its pretty easy like most fighting games.

I am a general 2D fighting fan.
I haven't played this series, but have always wanted to. But I think 2D fighters are pretty easy to get into.
As I said, I haven't played GG. But Street Fighter II Turbo is my favorite fighter. If this is even close to comparable, it will be a fantastic game.

1) For fighting games, 2D is the way to go. I grew up with 2D fighting games like Street Fighter and I want to stick it with it. I will definitely purchase it. I'm a fan of 2D gaming.
2) It should be easy. If anyone played old school 2D fighting games, it should be definitely easy.
3) Personally, I think Street Fighter is a higher ranking game than Guilty Gear. It's because Street Fighter is very well-known series. But Guilty Gear is an awesome series also. It needs to make more of this series and bring them out in public. So it shows some Guilty Gear love.

3. If I give the original SF a 10, GG XX AC would at least get a 9

Absolutely, but it's coming out at a really bad time as there are many other games I'd rather buy and play.
I'd say it's relatively easy, the style is pretty popular among people who don't even play it.
Well considering I'm a pretty big fan of Guilty Gear, I'd rank it above Street Fighter and it's a bit more fresh in terms of characters and fighting style compared to the SF series.

I haven't been playing Guilty Gear before, so I guess I'm a 2D Fighting Fan
2D Fightning games are the most easy to get into and that's why there're so fun.
As stated before, I haven't play Guilt Gear before so I can't judge it, but Street Fighting seems to have better credibility

1. Been playing GG for a while now. Imported X on the Dreamcast, then later picked up Isuka and #Reload on other consoles. I'd consider purchasing the PS2 version, but I haven't been informed of just how well it plays on the Wii yet.
2. I think it's a classic example of 'easy to learn, difficult to master'. Certainly some people would be turned off by the often times goofy character designs, but personally I think it's charming.
3. Guilty Gear has always felt like the successor to Street Fighter to me. A lot faster paced and on par as far as technicality is concerned, I'd have to say I rank the best of both series (3rd Strike vs. Slash - although I'm hoping AC is even better) as equals.

1. When I bought the first GG on dreamcast, I was instantly hooked. It was like rain after the street fighter drought. Although I am not as excited as the first game, but I am still going to buy it.
2. Fighting games these days are getting too complicated and that really turn me off. Fortunately GG series has always been pretty easy to pick up and play. In the past games, there were moves that were a little too hard to pull off, but i guess that adds to replay value somehow. For now, I'll stick with characters that are easier to play and have fun with it.
3. What makes Street fighter so fun and left you a lot to desire is it's uniqueness of each character. When you play any one of them, you dont really feel disadvantaged whe you lose, but instead it made you think that there must be a better way to fully utilize this character and that thought keep me playing over and over again. At first, I thought GG is just a game with pretty graphic, but I think the series has its own charm and each game is getting better and better. I can't wait to play this latest title! :)

1) I would buy this for sure based on its past history! i enjoyed the others in the serious, im sure this one wont dissapoint. (although the control scheme scares me)
2) It is easy to get into but hard to master!! easy to jump in and start playing, but hard to beat the hardcore gamers, they are too dedicated.
3) well, i enjoy anime... and i dislike the SF crew, honestly. So i'd rather go with a GG game over a SF game, anyday of the week.

1) yes! i was introduced to guilty gear on the dreamcast. it was a great alternative for me since im a big street fighter fan.
2) the game is very easy to get into. if you're a street fighter fanatic, you could figure out the combos very easily. making it fun a enjoyable.
3) compared to street fighter, i think this is definitely the one that could easily be the contender if its done well. i look forward to other guilty gear games. but i dont wanna look forward to it if its every year.

Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
1. Yes I would. I played Guilty Gear Isuka for PS2 and Dust Strikers for the DS and I enjoyed both throughly.
2. Yes it is very easy to get into for someone that hasn't played it before. If you're an experienced gamer it might seem a little easier.
3. I rank it in the top 5.

Both. I became a 2D Fan back when i got Street Fighter II on the SNES. I instantly became hooked and im a fan of the 2D fighting genre ever since. Im also a Guilty Gear fan ever since i played a friends copy of the dreamcast version.
I think anyone with 2D fighting experience can get into it, but if not its very hard. It has a very perculiar art style, which may put a casual player off but if they could just give it a chance they would be hooked. Its that good
Graphically i think Guilty Gear is by far the best looking game of the genre. Arc Systems/Sammy definetly know their stuff when it comes to 2D sprites. In terms of gameplay, Street Fighter pretty much made the genre into what it is now, so id say SF gets the nod its alot simpler than Guilty Gear which is a bit confusing with the combos, air combos, cancels and the specials that end the game instantly. It could use a simplificaiton to refine the basics.

1. I would purchase it due to playing previous Guilty Gear games. Each one has its own fun packed in.
2. This sort of fighting game is easy to get into. The combat system isn't difficult, and the variety of characters makes it a very fun game to play without any prior knowledge of its controls.
3. Both the Guilty Gear and Street Fighter franchises are top 5 material whether they are up against other 2-D fighters, or both 2-D and 3-D fighting games. I prefer Street Fighter by a bit, but they are both really great, and really fun.

1. I can't remember anything about the actual GG i've tried since i think it was the first one. And i went back to SF at the time. But I've just discovered CAG and have a wii and this may be my lucky day to try on an new hat ;)
2. I can't remember the control's
3.I'd have to go with SF simply on comfort factor in my opinion, since I didn't dive to deep into GG

1. Every franchise has its ups and downs, and Guilty Gear is no exception. But my decision to purchase would not be based on name alone. For some games, that would be different. I'm more apt to blindly pick up a Street Fighter game or a Mortal Kombat game simply from past experience with the franchise. I was never that impressed by the Guilty Gear games, so I'd act more cautiously. But I am a fan of the 2-D fighting genre, so I would be interested in hearing how this one turned out.
2. Anyone can play a fighting game by mashing the controller randomly, but it's much harder to actually "get into" one. There hasn't been a fighting game that anyone could pick up and master since Urban Champion. That said, you need to start slow and work your way onto the more complicated games. So, I don't think a beginner would want to bother with something like Guilty Gear.
3. Games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat really helped define the genre in the first place, and games like Smash Bros. are now helping move the genre to new levels. The characters are iconic, much of the gameplay elements have already been burned into the minds of players, and they have bigger budgets from developers. Other games, including the Guilty Gear franchise, appear to be copycats trying to cash in of these successes. That doesn't mean they can't be good, but it'll be hard to have a Guilty Gear game ever be AS good as some of the more famous franchises.

1. Although I have enjoyed the series quite a lot, I would not buy it solely based on just playing other iterations. It would need to improve upon the previous one.
2. It is realyl easy to get into. The fast pace of the battles and interesting art style helps getting into it, not hinders.
3. Since I have not played the this version of Guilty Gear, I would not be able to rank it with other games. However, as a series, I put Guilty Gear somwhere under Street Figher third strik and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but above the others.

In this instance, both. I love 2d fighting games in general and Guilty Gear in specific.
At its current level of market saturation, I'd say 2d fighters are 2nd only to shoot-em-ups in obscurity. These games are not easy to get into for the majority of consumers, especially if their perceptions of 2d fighters have been shaped by games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Not that there is anything wrong with either of these franchises, but the genre has made rapid and distinct growths away from those games.
I'd say that Guilty Gear is third in line behind the King of Fighters series and Street Fighter series. As fantastic as Guilty Gear is, it has rarely attempted to innovate beyond the system developed with GGX. I've always been willing to give Guilty Gear a chance, though and if the multiple releases and expansions have served to introduce more players to GG in specific and 2d fighters in general, they serve their purpose.

1. I bought Guilty Gear X and X2 for Playstation 2, and Guilty Gear X2 Reload for Xbox. Guilty Gear is one of my favorite games and at a time when Wii games are in pretty short supply, this game is near the top of my list for future purchases.
2. I got my girlfriend and some of her friends into the game, who have had no previous 2D fighting experience and even now will not play Street Fighter or any of it's iterations, but very much like Guilty Gear.
3. It's definitely a lot more insane than most other fighters, and the juggle system is top notch. I like it a decent amount more than the standard 2D fighter but not the absolute pinnacle of 2D that years past King of Fighters or Street Fighter games had.

1. No, im more of a street fighter gamer. Playing a fighter on the Wii sounds interesting.
2. I don't think this game would be easy to get into. From the look of the screen shots and the front cover, its definitely not familiar, background looks too animated, something i'd probably get sick of.
3. Street fighter pwns this game by far, the characters are more profound and familiar, they have made a name for themselves. I don't know the characters from Guilty Gear. They made a movie about this game, can't beat that. Storyline seems more defined too, kick M. Bison's ass and be the best fighter in the world. The backgrounds and music, love it all. Haven't played guilty gear x but the screen shots shown in OP are terrible.

1) Definitely. I am a big fan of good fighting games (latest purchase: MK Armageddon Wii), and I've loved the GG series since I played Guilty Gear X on the Dreamcast.
2) Again, going back to GGX, I thought that game was very easy to get into, but hard to master, and even harder to pick that favorite character to kick butt with. So many fun and unique characters... :)
3) It stands just above Marvel vs Capcom 2, Smash Bros., and MK Armageddon in character variety, and it's one of the easiest fighting games to dive into and play, especially with a human opponent. Of course, like every other reputable fighter, when taking on an experienced challenger... it can be painful.
"HEAVEN OR HELL... LET'S ROCK!" is more fun than "round 1... FIGHT". Just sayin'...
It helps that the art is great too.

1. I would, actually. Always been a fan of the series ever since playing the imported, partially translated demo on a Playstation Underground disc. The kind you had to reset the system to get out of. Played it several times even though there wasn't any music. Then I got my hands on the full version and was hooked.
2. A little of both. It's easy enough to go in and play but hard to master, like Othello, and the design is definitely obscure and out there so it's perfect for me even though I've introduced it to friends and they were like O_O at it at first.
3. Actually, I rank it pretty high against games like KoF and SF because of its system. It's easy to start up and train as a character, try out everyone else, see who fits best and still always have a challenge. Plus, the soundtracks are sick as hell.

Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
Most definately. I've played every other entry in the Guilty Gear series, and enjoyed most of them. The only one that I'm still a bit on the fence about is Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers. I kind of enjoy the simplified, Smash Bros/Jump Superstars gameplay, but I think it feels a bit clunky . it's not nearly as clean an experience as either mentioned game, and it's something that works against what I feel are it's goals -- an easier, more accesible Guilty Gear.
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?Like any other game with a serious following, Guilty Gear has it's casual and Proffessional level players. I think it's just like playing Halo 3 online -- if you take the time and memorize maps and button combos and weapon strengths and weaknesses, more power to you. But some people just want to play a game and watch cool shit happen
If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.I prefer Guilty Gear over other fighters. To me, other fighters just aren't "verticle" enough. With Guilty Gear, weapon arcs, special attacks, and movement in general seems to be more evenly spaced between arial/anti-arial/ground attacks.

Well a little of both. I have always been a huge fan of 2-D fighters and this one is no exception. I have also played previous Guilty Gear games against friends and always had a good time.
Well being the button masher that I am... I would say the learning curve is very obscure at first... but that is mostly my fault. I am very sure that one quick read over the instructions makes things a bit clearer. Also the finishers are awesome to pull off if you get them right.
Well honestly I feel that it holds its own ground and definately ranks up there with the likes of Street Fighter and King Of Fighters in its own way. The heavy metal theme is awesome (if you're a metal fan... you can easily figure out which character has been named after a band or created in the likeness of a musician), the fighting styles are very unorthodox at times, and the soundtracks are overall top-notch. My only gripe is that the recent installments have just rehashed a lot of the previous games' content and at the same time... have taken out story mode.

1. Yes, been a fan of 2-D fighting games in general, and the Guilty Gear series has thus far been a great 2-D fighter to play.
2. Somewhere in the middle. Its pretty easy to get the general feeling of the game, but the rest of the gameplay is too complicated for those who haven't played 2-D fighting games.
3. Haven't played the latest iteration of Guilty Gear, but if its anything like its predecessor, I would rank it 2nd to Street Fighter.

1. I would purchase the game at a lower price due to my past interest in the game, but feel hard pressed to spend $50 on it.
2. I feel anyone with previous 2d fighting experience can get into the game and enjoy it.
3. Guilty Gear is a pretty good game but I enjoy Street Fighter more, but against other 2d fighters as a *series* It's in the top five behind KOF, SF and the like.
1. Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
I would purchase Guilty Gear as a fighting game fan in general. I never really got into the Guilty Gear tournament scene, because I'm more of a 3-D fighting game palyer, but it was still a fun game with great character designs and an intriguing storyline.
2. Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
Fighting games in general are hard to get into because most casual players do not take the effort to learn the system. It is especially tough for Guilty Gear because it is the Virtua Fighter of the 2-D fighting game arena. The system is very in-depth and balanced, but at the same time, it is extremely complex and has a high learning curve. Fighters like these always need a tutorial mode to lead beginners by the hand.
3. If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
The Guilty Gear series is one of the current top 2-D fighting games, ranked alongside Street Fighter III and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It is a complicated game with plenty to offer for the hardcore fighting game fanatics, but it is too stylized and niche for it to gain massive mainstream success.

1. I've only played Guilty gear a few times, but it seemed fun.

1.I plan to purchase it because I'm a big fan of fighting game. Past iteration is not that important as long the game is good.
2.I feel the Guilty Gear series is pretty easy to get into, but it also has a lot of depth that it will take a player a long time to master their favor characters. Fighting games in general is obscure, so casual gaming fan will not take the time to get better at the game.
3. I'm big fan of Street Fighter so while GG is good but its not at the level of SF. I feel GG is too combo friendly that it makes the game kinda boring after a few match, mainly because people just keep doing the same combos over and over.

1. Both. I liked the past few GG games and because 2d fighting games are more fun then 3d.
2. 2d fighting are the easiest games to get into imo.
3. I would rank it below king of fighters, and above street fighter. I cant stand the GG music.
I played past games and its a very fun franchie so I would buy it for that.
Its hard to master but two new players can get it and just button smash and have fun with it even if they are not familiar at all with the fighting genre.
I grew up with Street Fighter II so I am biased, I am just a big fan of the SF series, however GG is a great game and nostalgia aside one of the best fighting game series.

1. Yes i would. Guilty Gear X2 on the xbox brought me and my friends countless hours of enjoyment. It always came down to me yelling KAAAIII KIIIEESSSSS KAAAAAYYYYYYYYY because he was good. So, to answer your question yes. As long as they can improve upon the series.
2. I think anyone who has gotten their feet wet in a fighting game wont have too hard of a time getting into guilty gear. If you were to start on this game as a first 2-D fighter, i would say no, it is not easy to get into.
3. I would rank guilty gear up their with the best of them. Especially the community. While not as large of a user base as Tekken 5, if you were to go to the local arcade here in Houston and play guilty gear, you would get spanked. While the moves in guilty gear are just as easy to learn as any other fighter, I believe a few of the characters can make learning them a bit hard. That is where i believe some people would lose interest playing those people and in turn drop the game because of frustration

3. GG is hard for newbies.

1. I would consider buying it if it had something new and unique that would make me go "WOW". Having purchased previous titles from guilty gear it seems its a rehash of the same franchise except bug fixes and a brand new character or two. I would buy it as a 2D fighting game fan IF it had a lower price point like king of fighters XI that is selling for $14.99
2. I think this type of fighting game is unique and its a bit obscure if you haven't played previous titles. For instance im a big fan of the Marvel vs capcom series, Street Fighter 2-3, and love capcom vs snk 2. But when i want to get into guilty gear i can't cause everything is different, the combo system, the special moves, etc.
3. I would rank it like so: 1 - Street Fighter, 2 - Guilty Gear, 3 - King of fighters.
Pros:
Game has a unique feel to it
Graphicly looks nice
Love the animations, Spark effects
Sound and music are amazing (love the music from this series :D )
Cons:
Hard to get into (Specially if you come from a different 2-D Fighting Game Background *cough*Street fighter *cough*)
Thats about it for me.

1. I would buy it.
2. It easy to get into if you like 2-D fighters. If you're not used to it, playing guilty gear can be a bit confusing and/or frustrating.
3. GG owns SF hands down. SF is old school (which would explain it's huge fan base) and lacks the depth that is GG. Anyone who chooses SF over GG is simply over-filled with nostalgia.

2. I feel that it's tough to master. If I tried playing it I would try and so the normal street fighter moves...and if that didn't work, i'd find myself button mashing.
3. I'd rank street fighter alpha 3 as the best 2d fighting game ever, but I prefer the SNK series.

I have never played Guilty Gear before, but if it is anything like the fighting games before it, then it should be easy enough to get into.

1. The previous Guilty Gear games that I've played have been great fighters, but overall probably too techincal for me.
2. I think generally that the gameplay of Guilty Gear is easy to get into, but it takes a lot of experience to master. It's the kind of game that you'll log a lot of hours on.
3. I think the GG series has been excellent, and has improved over iterations, rather than grinding downward (Super Street Fighter 2: Gamma Championship Edition Turbo, etc)

1. Yes I would purchase the game due to playing past iterations.
2. The style is pretty obscure to someone who has never seen it before but it's so zany that I think people would be interested to find out more.
3. I would rank GG higher than SF because of the higher res pixels, sweet music, crazy cast of characters (where else are you going to find cross dressers, pirates, vampires, and chicks who fight with their hair), and more than like 3 or 4 special moves per character.

10-19-2007, 10:17 PM
1. If I were to purchase it, it would be due to having played past iterations. I'd much rather test out a game I haven't played before in the arcade rather than as a purchase.
2. The gameplay basics should be easy enough for most people to pick up (especially if they have experience with fighting games in general) but picking up on the finer points of the game or the more complex combos certainly isn't something everyone can do. But, then again, that's true for most games.
3. GG has excellent style to it, which I think is one of its strongest points. Everyone's seen the Ryu/Ken type characters in games, but where else will you find a leather-clad guitar wielding woman? Even aside from stylistic differences, I'd say it compares favorably to Street Fighter.

1. I would purchase a guilty gear game based on being a 2D fighting fan in general. And the high res sprites seal the deal even more.
2. The gameplay is kinda obscure but that is what makes it great. Not every fighting game should hace 3 punches and 3 kicks.
3. It is below Street fighter because well SF is a living legend. But it is above almost any other 2D fighting game, if only for the characters and music alone.

1. Yeah I would! 2-D fighting games, IMO, ARE the best kind! I'm actually surprised to have found myself pretty interested in this game. I never played a GG game.
2. It's easy because it fits perfectly. I don't know what I mean, but in my head it makes sense.

2.i don't think that the game is too hard to get into my friend introduced me to guilty gear about 2 years ago and i picked it up pretty quickly.
3.i wouldnt really compare it too much with other 2-d fighters its slightly more different but i would say it holds its own against the more popular 2-d's like street fighter.

1. Guilty Gear XX Reload is an awesome fighting game, so I would consider buying a new Guilty Gear game based on that alone.
2. I've typically found that it's as deep as you want it to be. If you want to go in and just mash buttons, you'll probably fare well, but the game has enough depth to satisfy a hardcore fan of the genre as well.
3. I would rank Guilty Gear XX just behind Street Fighter III 3rd Strike (the fighting system is incredibly balanced), and just ahead of Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves.

1. Yes. I no longer have my Xbox Guilty Gear, and the addition of characters makes this worth a purchase.
2. Easy to play, difficult to master. If anything, Guilty Gear's style makes it stand out. The Wii version will probably help ease younger gamers into fighting games in general, I picture veterans will need the classic controller.
3. #2, only behind the granddaddy that is Street Fighter. Although Guilty Gear has more style and flair, my non-gamer friends know what a "Ha-do-ken" is. Guilty Gear hasn't reached that legend status.

1. Even though I've played past iterations, I would buy the game primarily because I'm a 2D fighting game fan. Considering this is most likely the last version of the GGXX upgrades, now would be the time to jump into the game, as it is in it's most refined state.
2. Guilty Gear is extremely to get into. The controls are very traditional with some characters, like Sol or Ky, and the transition into the game's advanced moves is easier as a result. And considering the game is downright gorgeous, it's that much more easy to be drawn into the GG universe.
3. I think GG has become the new standard for what a 2D fighter can be. Typically, the best fighters have been the more traditional ones, such as KOF or SF. Guilty Gear has managed to take the maniac stylings of a VS. game and crafted tight mechanics around it. The crazy-awesome character designs, heavy-metal soundtrack, and downright unique movesets have really breathed new life into the genre.

Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
I would purchase the game considering that I have purchased each version previously released in the US (except Accent Core on PS2) as well as imported XX Slash on PS2.
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
I think that some of the art style is rather obscure, but I don't think it's to hard to get into. It's fairly easy to play on the surface but has incredible depth, which is what makes it great.
If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
I don't think it's fair to comprare it favorably to Street Fighter because of the amount of games that Street Fighter has produced. Street Fighter has a number of solid "series within a series" such as the Alpha games, the SF3 series, SF2 series, the Versus games etc... whilst most Guilty Gears (aside from 1) are more or less the same. However, Guilty Gear is still a great franchise in itself. Definately one of my more preferred fighting franchises.

If it was a gigantic dog turd branded with the Guilty Gear logo, I'd buy it. The franchise is amazing.
It's stylish, but also challenging. Definately easy to get into, and the storylines are full of depth.
I don't think you can really compare Guilty Gear to any other fighting franchise out there -- it's kind of like Mortal Kombat, in a league all its own. Its closest competitor would be Street Fighter Alpha in terms of style, and MK as far as gameplay. The one con this game has going for it are the one hit kills.. Really unneccessary. Not Eternal Champions Sega CD-ish "Cinekill" overkill, but definately to that point.

1. I would buy it as both, since I really liked Guilty Gear XX Reload and I like other 2D fighter game series as well.
2. My opinion on 2D fighter games is that they are fun and easy to get into as a start, with games like Street Fighter where they generally have the same special move set (quarter circle forward punch, etc.), but to master them can take a long while and be very rewarding. I do however think that in this day and age, they are unfortunately overshadowed by 3D and more "graphic intense" games by the general gaming public.
3. I would put the Guilty Gear series just below the Street Fighter and Vs games (Capcom vs SNK, Marvel vs Capcom, etc), but that is more just a matter of personal preference, along with a bit of nostalgia from growing up with the Street Fighter series.

1. I'd consider purchasing it since I'm a fan of 2-D fighting games in general.
2. Seems like it's pretty easy to get into but takes a while to master.
3. I'd say it ranks up there just from all the good things I've heard about it from other gamers. I'm not too familiar with the series myself but after hearing so many positive things I want to play it too.

Love 2-D fighters. Just got Bleach for the DS and it's pretty similar to Guilty
It's not easy to get into and that's what I like about it. High learning curve = bigger payoffs when you land that huge combo
2-D fighters are similar yet different. They all have their pros and cons. Guilty Gear has been around long enough though to perfect the formula.

1. Nope. As far as fighting games go, I absolutely prefer 2-D and I remember liking Guilty Gear but only Street Fighter, MvC2, and just the fighters based off of anime are even on my radar now.
2. Very easy to get into.
3. It's on another tier below Street Fighter or the titles I mentioned. The characters aren't memorable, though plenty of them are hawt, and the art style is great but that doesn't make it great.

I would purchase it as a fan of the previous games. They were the by far the best PSX 2D fighters, so we got hooked.
I definitely think the game can be easy to get into. It's a very deep game but it's not hard to learn.
Guilty Gear is probably my favorite 2d fighting series. I love the art and gameplay.
1. Guilty Gear is a great series, so that's why I'd buy AC
2. There are two entirely different levels to play. As a casual mashing game anyone can hop in and hopefully have a little fun. But as a serious fighter, there is so much going on that it is pretty hard to understand and USE all the systems at work.
3. Guilty Gear is my favorite. Great character design, great variety of play, all characters have accsess to a ridiculously large set of common movement and defensive systems. And the best part is, on a competitive level, every character can be played competitively (as opposed to Mvc2, for intsance, where you see five characters in tournaments all the time).

Answer these questions for a chance at winning Guilty Gear Accent Core (Wii)!
Mutiple Winners!
1) Most likely. I am a huge GG fan and am one of the few people who even bought Isuka. :D
2) The gameplay is somewhat obscure. 3D fighters dominate the market, but I would love to see 2D surge back.
3) Nothing compares with the Street Fighter series. Its the best fighting series on the market. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is the best fighter of all time IMO.
1. I've only been a fan of the Guilty Gear series for a couple years now, after a friend introcuded me to it, in fact I've only finished Guilty Gear X 100% so far, but in my playthrough of that part, I've been left very impressed and plan to keep a close eye on all new releases it gets, and to buy them.
2. The game is very easy to enjoy, but the game can be quite challenging for those playing it for the first time. Adding a version for the wii is going to make it more difficult I would imagine, but in a way that will present more rewarding goals when you meet them.
3. I really don't compare fighting games to each other - I'm a fan of a vast majority of them and they all have different pros and cons, so it wouldn't be possible for me to choose an absolute favorite.

1)i love the art style but i hope they add online play
2)i love 2d fighting games. much better than 3d. i don't think it is hard to get into
3)street fighter is much easier in gameplay not that many moves and this game GG is alot complicated but i still enjoy it.

1. I'll get this game since I am a 2-D fighting game fan in general.
2. I wouldn't say the gameplay is easy to begin with. This type of game will attract fans that have been a part of the series fanbase.
3. I haven't played many 2D fighters, let alone often. I only play them whgenever my friends bring one over since they are the more hardcore gamers.

1. Most definitly because of playing past Guilty Gears. I love the series for its crazy, over the top, and its metal sound track. Other 2D fighters out there can be very "cookie-cutter".
2. I dont think the gameplay is too obscure or much different thatn other 2D games. Haven't play a fighting game on the wii yet so no idea if the controller will make it difficult.
3. Having not played accent core, I'll just generalize. Guility Gear and Street Fighter are the top two 2D fighers (IMO), espically concerning its cast (althoght SF has waaaay to many fighters these days). The major difference is that Guility gear is alot more freash and current while SF is more of a nostalgic franchies. May change when SF 4 hits but for now, GG is best of todays 2D fighters.

1) Both. I love the past Guilty Gears and I enjoy most 2D fighters in general.
2) Well, in order to differentiate itself from the rest of the pack, Guilty Gear does have to offer some zaniness to the mix, but for the most part it's easy to get into but hard to master.
3) It's up there, the quality of the game is pretty top notch, though I personally prefer something with a bigger fan service and noticeable faces. That's why it'll never trump my all time favorite 2D fighting game: Marvel VS Capcom 2.

1. Although Guilty Gear is a long running franchise, I have admittedly never played an entry in the series. So, of course, I wouldn't buy it due to an enamoration with past iterations. As a 2D fighting game fan, however, I am slightly interested in playing it. I don't play too many fighting games (I really only play Smash Bros), but I'd like to play a few of the popular fighting game series to see what I've been missing.
2. In my experience, fighting games are never really all that easy to get into, in the sense that a "seasoned veteran" of a fighting game usually finds every miniscule exploit in a game's engine in order to win, which could be pretty alienating to new players. In this case, I don't really know how favorable the experience is toward newcomers, since, well, you know, I haven't ever played it. >_> But I do know that its presentation shows obvious anime influence, which could be unappealing to those 2D fighting fans who are accustomed to slightly more western designs, like in Street Fighter.
3. Well, again, I can't fully answer this question. Though I have surmised through watching videos that its gameplay is much more akin to "traditional 2D fighters like Street Fighter than button combo heavy 3D fighters like Mortal Kombat, or party fighters like Super Smash Bros Melee, I don't have a very extensive knowledge of Guilty Gear's gameplay mechanics, or the gameplay mechanics of most 2D fighters for that matter.

1. yup i'd buy it, i loved GGXX and played that game a ton on my ps2. i never got into Isuka because i hated how you needed to press R1 or L1 to switch the side you were facing..
2. this game is pretty easy to get into if you're familiar with Capcom's VS games or SFA3 or any KOF game from SNK.
3. I'd say this game ranks pretty high on the 2D fighting game list since the group of characters are unique and the animation is superb. the fighting system is familiar and pretty deep.

1. I've played 2 or 3 Guilty Gears in the past, and it's probably one of my favorite 2D fighters that has stood the test of time. So I guess, I'd buy this one because of playing past ones.
2. These are extremely easy to pick up and play. Definitely a good series for people who just want to press a few buttons and perform exciting looking attacks.
3. While I don't think Guilty Gear is as technical as Street Fighter, I like the over-the-top characters and fast action. I'd probably rank Guilty Gear in 4th behind Marvel vs. Capcom, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat.

Probably, the well refined fanbase is often an indicator of quality or at the very least it'll be fun to fans of the series.
They've always been fairly easy to enjoy it's just the hyper competative people who play nothing but a single 2-d fighter game for years that drive people away.
Guilty Gear is definitely up there, but i'd probably say it's behind Marvel vs. Capcom series in 2-d realm. Other than that there hasn't been much new development on the 2-d fighting front.

Yeah, I think these kinds of games are easy to get into. Sometimes you can get by just with button mashing, lol, but that's no fun. 2-d fighters are just good classic fun.
I dunno, I've always really liked Street Fighter, but like I said, I haven't played a Guilty Gear game before. I really like the anime-ish style though.

I was a big fan of the original Guilty Gear XX on PS2, and having played that, as well as both the Slash and Accent Core versions has already made me convinced to buy this game for myself.
I wouldn't say it's a very EASY game to get into because of all the techniques the designers threw in (Faultless Defense, Roman Cancel, etc.), but it's not so complicated as to make it an elitist type of game you need so much skill to play.
I don't think you can really compare this series to Street Fighter. It draws more from Samurai Shodown if you ask me, mixed in with tongue-in-cheek tomfoolery with an anime twist, nowhere near as formal as SS.

1. Yes, I would continue purchasing Guilty Gear games because the graphics and gameplay is fantastic. Also, there is an actual story to the game that is somewhat compelling to me. I would continue buying most 2D fighting games because I love fighters.
2. I don't feel these sorts of games are accessible or easy to master, but they are the most satisfying to play once I get good at playing it.
3. I would say GGXX:AC is below Street Fighter II and III. It's probably above Capcom VS SNK 1, but not part 2. It's a great game, but Capcom is still the one and only king.

3. For me one of the biggest draws for 2-D fighting games is the characters and Guilty Gear has some great ones.

1. I would purchase the game because I've played past iterations. My total experience with the series is limited, but I liked what I've played. 2D games must also be supported.
2. The heavy metal style Guilty Gear presents is pretty obscure. But, the controls are simple enough with none of the high-low stuff, and the button commands aren't as hard as other fighters.
3. I haven't played Accent Core, but as a series, I would rank Guilty Gear around Street Fighter's level. Personally, the Capcom vs. SNK and Marvel
vs. Capcom series are my top-tier 2D fighters.

:3 Is there still time to write a reply?
1. I'm actually a pretty new fan of Guilty Gear (got interested in it when XX was out), though I really enjoy 2-D fighting games. However, I'm not much of a competitive person, so I would get the game 'cause I'm a fan of the series.
2. It's easy to get into (a casual gamer with basic 2-D fighting knowledge can play pretty well), but it's extremely difficult to master; you have to know a lot not only about your own character you use, but who your opponent uses as well. Even if you pick a character that's considered high-tiered, your opponent can still defeat you if you have no idea what you're doing. Though it's pretty small, there's a highly competitive group for Guilty Gear Accent Core.
3.That's kinda hard to say for me, since I don't play a whole lot of 2-D fighting games. Plus, I'll be the first one to say that I have a terribly bias for Guilty Gear <3
But Guilty Gear one of the best fighting games out there. I think, if the Guilty Gear series got enough advertising, a lot more people would be interetsed in it. I know that games like Street Fighter, Soul Calibur and Tekken are really popular with people in the States, but I really think Guilty Gear could easily become the most-played fighting game. It's got a ton of characters, all with his or her own fighting style and uniqueness (Testament's traps, Jam's parry and charged kicks, Baiken and Anji's guard point, Axl's counters, etc.).
The character/concept art are aboslutely goregous, and the music definitely appeals to those who like metal/rock. The sprites are much more animated that those of Street Fighter too, I feel. Plus, the gameplay is pretty friendly towards the casual gamer, but can be terribly dificult when you're against a seasoned-player.
In short:
'Street Fighter built the bar, King of Fighters raised the bar, but Guilty Gear broke the bar'
I'm just repeating what someone said over at Dustloop on GG versus other games, so please don't give me credit for such a cool quote!
Anyways, thanks for doing this! Definitely good to get some pubilicty for the Guilty Gear series~

Having never played GG games in the past, I would personally purchase the game simply for the fact that it is a 2-D fighter.
Seems it would be easy to get into. How can this type of game not be easy to get into? The screenshots look beautiful and the lure of using the wiimote - well there ya go.
I would rank it just below the other 2-D Fighter series simply for the fact Guilty Gear isn't as well known a name as, say, Tekken. It has the potential to surpass other popular series - if more people would get past the anime-feel and give it a shot. We'll see how this release fares.

1. I never really got into the 2-D fighting scene, but my interest is being piqued with some of the newers nowadays. I've heard many good things about the GG series, and would like to try it out.
2. With enough practice I'm sure anyone could play well, but some people can't or don't want to put in the investment.
3. I can't rank it against others due to my lack of experience.
On a side note, you can use a gamecube controller with this one, right?

1. Despite being a long running franchise, I never played any of the Guilty Gear games. I've seen them in stores and I always think about getting one but never do. I have played a bunch of other 2D fighters like Street Fighter and Darkstalkers, so I'd get buy this because I'm something of a 2D fighting fan.
2. The games are sort of easy to get into because you can play on lower levels using basic punches and kicks. But getting into harder modes is probably too obsure (or hard) for casual players to get used to.
3. I can't rank it because I never played a Guilty Gear....

1. I probably wouldn't purchase it outright. I'm more into Soul Caliber franchise. I would probably borrow it from a friend.
2. For me, this fighting game seems like aquired taste. I'm never really liked it for a particular reason.
3. Well, I never paid this newest guilty gear. So, I probably shouldn't rank it to the a street fighter game. That would just be wrong. Street Fighter (as series) seems easier to learn, I suppose.
1. Quite possibly. I have picked up various GG games in the past, when they dropped in price. Since I haven't played a 2D fighter in a while, I would be more willing to pick this one up.
2. The style and effects are kinda "out there" (crazy), but I think it's still easy enough to button-mash. A few friends bought a previous Guilty Gear game, and they had almost no previous experience with 2D fighters. They were still able to do decent combos and specials.
3. Higher. I love fighters (like GG) that don't have carbon-copy characters. And since I haven't played many GG games previously, the characters are still pretty fresh for me.
And, I love the music and announcer they use, when compared with other fighters.

Mostly as someone who's heard great things about the franchise, but never really known when to jump in.
I heard it's very very technical and hard to get into.
Seems a bit under-represented, but I hear it's mostly due to how the community handles itself. I'd like to try it out for myself.

I've played Guilty Gear XX#Reload, and loved it. It's probably my favorite 2D fighter, so I'm itchin' to play the latest game in the series.
I love quirky things, and the strange characters and cel-shaded anime style visuals are right up my alley. I mean, what other game can you play as a cross-dressing boy that fights with a yo-yo, vs a pirate girl who fights with a giant anchor? None. Thats why GG is so awesome :D
To be honest, I hate Street Fighter, they're slow games and not even their turbo modes give me the thrill I have when I play games like Guilty Gear or Melty Blood.

The style may be too obscure. Fighting games in general though are pretty easy to pick up and play. GG isn't an exception.
3. If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
Probably lower than SF. Street Fighter has been a long running series so, for the fact that the combos are usually familiar right off the bat, SF has the edge. I own GGX and GGX2 and, while they are easy to pick up and play, they are a lot different than SF.

For me it would be both. I've only played one Guilty Gear game before, but I thouroughly enjoyed it. I'm a huge fan of 2d fighters (even though I suck at them).
Because of its awesome characters and unique combat, I think that it is fairly easy to get into. However, like any fighting game, it is hard to master.
I think that Guilty Gear has more interesting environments and characters, so I'd give it a slight edge.

I'm a huge fan of the series--the style, depth, and challenge are bascally unmatched among 2d fighters.
2. Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
I think it's a little tough. I always have my friends learn against the AI, rather than trying to teach them by battling them myself.

It's actually my favorite 2d series. Partly due to the complexity, and partly due to the wonderful style.

I usually don't play fighters, but I'll give a GG game a run now and then. I enjoy those crazy characters.
2. Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
I think it's easy enough to play. I suck at fighters, yet I can hold out on GG for a while. Now - put me against a fighting whiz, and I'll get clobbered quick.
3. If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
I'd put it towards the top. The characters make it for me. It's right up there with DOA.
1. Id buy it, ive never been dissapointed with any of my GG purchaces in the past, so i dont see how this would be different.
2. I think this series defies logic, some characters are easy for a begiiner to use but then there are some characters that take alot of time to master but when you do it pays off in kind.
3. I would rank it just below Street Fighter and King of Fighters

1. I would buy the game due to both. I am a huge fan of 2D fighters, and have played GGX, GGXX, and GGXX#R
2. More so than most other 2D fighters, the GG series is challenging for newcomers to pick up. High-level play entails elaborate combos, and there are all sorts of odd techniques and systems present in the game.
3. I feel that while GG is fun, it really boils down to preference. I myself prefer street fighter as it is more of a give-and-take game. GG, on the other hand, is about turning every hit into a 10+ hit combo, which in turn increases the learning curve.

2. In some ways, GG is tougher to get into due to its complexity, but I think casual fans enjoy it too due to its character design.
3. I'd probably give the edge to Guilty Gear, since it has more interesting character design, but it's very close.

1.) Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
As a 2d fighting game fan I would buy it and through past iterations I would buy it but it hasn't evolved enough in the past 10 years and as each iteration comes out I find less and less interest in the game due to the minor updates per each release.
2.) Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
The gameplay is actually more user friendly than a Street Fighter or King of Fighter game in my opinion. The character designs and storylines are what make the game a bit off setting to the casual player but the graphics are usually really sharp and eye catching.
3.) If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
Compared to other top 2-D fighters, I would rank the Guilty Gear franshise at 3rd over all with Street Fighter being first and King of Fighters being second. I don't feel GG is as balanced as those two and is far less techincal than both but graphically superior to both.

1. Yes, although I will most likely end up purchasing the PS2 version as I can't imagine a fighting game playing particularly well with the Wii controller. I have most of the previous iterations of Guilty Gear and I think there is enough variety between them to make each one a good purchase as a 2D fighting fan.
2. I think anyone who has ever played a 2D fighter will find it easy to get into the Guilty Gear series. It doesn't require as much practice and strategy as some of the Capcom 2D fighters, making it more comparable to an SNK series like King of Fighters. The vibrancy of the graphics make it more appealing to casual arcade gamers, although the story lines tend to be a bit convoluted which may make it less attractive to anyone but fighting fans.
3. I'd rank it somewhere in the middle. I like it better than some of the lesser known or older SNK 2D series, but less than most of the Capcom 2D fighters. I feel like some of the characters were a bit forced and in some ways intentionally made very obscure so nobody would accuse them of ripping off Capcom or SNK characters. I like that it feels faster than most Capcom or SNK 2D fighters, but it's still a frame buffer fighter at heart, so there will always be a split second delay before the on-screen action catches up.
1. I would buy it because it's a 2D fighter.
2. Well, I think if you're good at any 2D fighters, you should be good at this.
3. I would rank it near the middle, I guess. It's not bad, it's not great.

1) The Guilty Gear games have a history of being innovative. I own Guilty Gear, X2, and Isuka. While Isuka was a hit or miss affair, Guilty Gear and X2 were very enjoyable. I think trying to do something different with 2-D and the underlying quality of the series keeps people coming out after playing a game in the series.
2) There is always a place for this style of game. They work on several levels. The Guilty Gear series may not be accessible as Street Fighter, but it does take over the void left by the Marvel vs games after Capcom lost the license.
3) I do believe the Street Fighter series is the king of the hill, but that is also because Street Fighter has a longer time to refine itself. Guilty Gear stands tall with the SNK flagship fighters, such as KOF and Guilty Gear X2 was just as good, if not better that Mark of Wolves, which may be SNK's best overall fighting game. 3rd Strike is just and insanely hard game to top, and I think a Guilty Gear game has just as good as a chance as Street Fighter IV to be the new King of the Hill.

1. I like the GG series (I own all of them), but would not pay $40 for the new game.
2. GG is one of those series that is easy to pick up and play, but tough to master. However, a new player can still be able to beat an experienced one every now and then thanks to the one hit kills and easy to perform special attacks.
3. Streetfigher, KOF, and Samurai Showdown still best the GG series. GG has the potential to best all of the other fighters, but it just does not offer major improvements from sequel to sequel. I would not mind this if they did not want to charge full price $40 for the game. However, in order to reach the top, they need to include more characters, promote the game more, $30 price point, and try to take the series online for all systems.

1) I'd probably buy it based on the fact that I enjoyed the original Guilty Gear XX but I've never played any of the other games in the series. I'm not sure if I'd pay full price though.
2) The game is easy enough to pick up and play but mastering it is something I'd definitely classify as a hardcore feat.
3) I'd rank Guilty Gear high up because it's not only a great fighter but it's also completely off the wall and I'm a big fan of insane game elements (a rock and roll witch, an abnormally tall doctor with a bag over his head, an anchor-wielding pirate with a hatred of bald people, etc.).

1. My experience with Guilty Gear is very limited, but as a 2D fighting fan, I've been looking for something new to play. Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom vs. SNK 2, King of Fighters 99 and Street Fighter 3: Third Strike are starting to get a little old.
2. From the little I've played, it seems as though if you jump right in, you should be able to rack up some combos and have a lot of fun. But at the same time, from all the advanced strategies I've read or heard about, there is a lot of depth to be revealed if you plan on spending a lot of time with it.
3. Having not played GGXXAC, I can't rank it. I can say the GG series lacks the name recognition that Capcom and SNK fighting games have. I also think that the GG series is beautiful to look at.
1. Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
I've never bought a Guilty Gear game, but because I've enjoyed other 2D fighting games, I've been on the lookout for deals for any of the series.
2. Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
I think 2D fighters can be a little intimidating to newcomers. It's not something that's easy to get other people to play with me.
3. If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
I have no personal experience with Guilty Gear.

1. I would defenitely Buy it since i love fighting games in general and GG is no joke when it comes to fun and addicting gameplay!
2. There are tons of moves in this game and although not hard to get used to, it can be challenging to master. It fits well to casual and Hardcore gamers alike!
3. If i were to compare it to other fighting games, i would say that its not the most in depth like other fighters or as challenging such as SF3 but its defenitely a great game.
Pros: Great character design, cool moves and great grafix, awesome music!
Cons: Not alof of variety in characters, too short and not evolutionary.

01 - i'd purchase it as a 2d fighting game fan.
02 - i think it is hard to get into mostly because of it's visual style. the masses love their 3d graphics, so a 2d fighter has an uphill battle.
03 - overall, street fighter is probably the better game, but it suffers from being too familiar, so another franchise in this genre makes for a nice change every once in a while.

1. I would purchase it from the past games. All of them was good to great games.
2. It is really easy to get into. As far as learning the moves that is sort of hard.
3.It is quite different compared to street fighter. I mean street fighter is a classic. While guilty gear is a great fighter. I don’t think it is at the level as street fighter was or is.

1. Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
A little bit of both. I've loved the series since I first played it on Dreamcast so I usually pick up the latest version - I also happen to love 2D fighters. I'm alittle put off by the lack of good controller options for Wii (stick only please) but may get the HORI stick if i see more fighting game support on the Wii.
2. Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
Guilty Gear has always felt like the DOA of 2d fighters. It's pretty accessible for beginners, but really opens up when you spend some serious time with the series.
3. If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
If Street Fighter Third Strike and Marvel SH vs Street Fighter were a 10 (and they are) Guilty Gear would be a 7. It's a series that opened peoples eyes on how beautiful 2d games can look, but lacks that extra layer of depth that a game like Third Strike or Mark of the Wolves has. Basically, if the gameplay of Third Strike and graphics of Guilty Gear were to have a baby, it would probably be one of the greatest fighters ever to roam this planet.

Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
- I haven't played too many of the GGs before so I would be purchasing the game as a 2D fighting game fan in general. The few times I have played it I have enjoyed it, but I still preferred my Marvel vs. Capcom and Street Fighter games over the GG series.
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
- I think that this sort of game is easy to get into if you are into 2D fighters. People who aren't into 2D fighter games usually have trouble with any of the games from the genre. The GG style is great because it's so over the top. It makes it very entertaining to play.
If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
- Given that I haven't played it, I can't say for certain. But I think that it is much more frantic than Street fighter, and the visuals are great. I also wonder about the motion controls to the game and how that will actually work out. I have heard mixed reactions about it so far.

1. I haven't really touched the Guilty Gear series, I wanted the original, but could never find it cheap and missed out on the more recent versions due to having only a Gamecube. But I am a big enough fan of fighting/arcade games to have put together my own stick.
2. 2-D fighters have never been that easy to get into, at least for me. It wasn't until Marvel vs Streetfighter that I found a fighter easy enough that I could last more than a few rounds at the arcade. Now I'm a bit better, but I've never really come close to grasping the higher level techniques, but I can appreciate the skill it takes to do so.
3. Streetfighter is good, no doubt, but it's never been my favorite flavor of fighters. Since I'm not a serious player I tend to gravitate towards the quirkier titles like Waku Waku 7. Guilty Gear probably falls into that category, at least in terms of character design. Sadly, I can't really comment on the gameplay, having played so little of the series.

1. Not for $40. I had X2 on PS2, X2#R on XBox, and Judgement (US version with X2#R) on PSP.
2. I'd say it's easy to get into, because of how flashy and frenetic it is. Though being actually particularly good at the game, and knowing all the different game mechanics is a whole other story. Seems more complicated to me than Third Strike.
3. If the game is just a better version of all the other ones I've tried, I'd say it's somewhere high on the list, compared the SNK and Capcom fighters.

I love fighting games and haven't had the chance to try a fighter on Wii. Seems like it'd be a fun concept! I played the DS one...got a bit confused by it. Though I have played one of them on PS1 and loved it.
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure? It's definitely a different take. Which makes for more interesting fighters.

A little bit of both. I've played past Guilty Gear games and greatly enjoyed them. I also would like to have a good 2D fighter for my Wii.
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
Normally, Yes. However, given this is the Wii we're speaking of, a 2D fighter with the Wiimote may scare many off.

1. Never having played previous iterations, I'd have to try it due to my interest in the genre.
2. I'd actually attribute sound design as a main factor for a 2-D fighter's accessibility. If that's up to task, then the game should be quite approachable.
3. I quickly get bored with Street Fighter. I prefer Darkstalkers for the energetic character design and animation. I'd have to spend some time with Guilty Gear to see wherein it would fit.

2. I think it's pretty easy to get into, Guilty Gear isn't too hard for someone to pick up, but it can take some time to master all of the moves and combos.
3. I would probably rank somewhere around #1 or #2, the music is my favorite out of any other 2-D fighter and the animations and characters are great. One con might be getting down some of the special moves or huge combos.

1. I would purchase as a 2-d fan and as a Guilty Gear fan. I enjoy playing the old, as well as the new. I am interested to see how things will function on the Wii.
2. I think it's the kind of game you can pick up and play. At the same time though, it has some level of depth. It works for long time players as well as first time players.
3. I've played the PS2 version, and based on that, I would rank it right there with Street Fighter. I love most any 2-d and even 3-d fighters, but GGXXAC is one of those games you atleast have to try once.

1. Both really. I've played GG1 for the PS1, GGX on Dreamcast, X2 Reload on Xbox as well as PC, and have pretty much been a huge fan of the series. Best 2D fighting series out there today.
2. It depends on the fighting game really. Some of them are easy to get into, Guilty Gear being one of them due to the fast pace, relatively intuitive combat system, and not too much difficulty. That said, easy to play, hard to master. Not all 2D fighting games are like that (CvS2's roster and Groove system make it harder to get into than it should), but GG's been good at keeping it easier than not. And no, not obscure gameplay, not sure what's meant by that reallly... plenty of people play the games and they aren't that hard to find. Guilty Gear's probably the easiest series to get into these days, it's easy to play, hard to master. Which is the way it should be.
3. Guilty Gear >> SNK > Street Fighter as far as series go. Slash >= Accent Core = Melty Blood >> Capcom vs SNK 2 > Garou > KoF series in general (with 98 leading the pack, probably) >> Street Fighter > Fatal Fury (too old, hasn't aged well, and everyone knows it as what came before KoF anyway). Would take too long to list all the series (eg, Darkstalkers, Samurai Shodown), but Guilty Gear has the pros on the gameplay, speed, and cast. Let's not forget music either, or that GG has a damn good storyline (only one better of the genre, Melty Blood) as a game, let alone as a fighter. AC tried new things and they actually *worked,* which is better than what I can say for both Capcom's as well as SNK's latest tries of fighters (though Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is awesome and also deserves to be on that list, above CvS2 but I'm biased to NGBC so maybe not). Anyway, this is long enough, point is Sammy does things which the others *should* do, and actually can pull off bringing new stuff to a series, while maintaining something that resembles balance. Well nowadays at least (no, everyone having an infinite isn't balance).

I honestly only want this game because I've played a Guilty Gear game on the PS2 years ago. It was a lot of fun, but before I saw it in my cousin's library of PS2 games, I had never heard of it. Even now, I don't hear too much buzz about it since a lot of people I know aren't familiar with the game.
I thought the game was pretty easy to get into. I picked up the controller, and had a blast nearly immediately without button mashing.
I don't know if I would compare Guilty Gear to the ranks of Street Fighter. Although Guilty Gear was definitely very enjoyable, Street Fighter is definitely more established and a household name. Guilty Gear is fun, fast and has a small learning curve, but it doesn't have the fanbase Street Fighter and other 2-d fighting games might have. I think it might help if someone were to base a show on Guilty Gear and release it in the US (have they already? I don't know, I don't watch toomuch television).

I have played through most of the past iterations of guilty gear and i am a big fan of the franchise, i am also a huge fan of 2-d fighters. I would grab this game just for both of these reasons.
This franchise is easy to get into , but whats great about it is at first its quite basic but with progress you can achieve incredible skills where you are always learning new moves and fighting styles. This creates a addiction to master the game creating massive replay value and fun.
Compareing Guilty gear to a classic like streetfighter is a bit tough but i would go with guilty gear. Guilty Gear brings a kind of freshness to the table with its animation and and art style, not to mention its out of the ordinary characters and moves. Guilty gear also brgings a great learning curve where you are always acheive new ways of fighting and techniques.

1. I'd play the game because of knowing how good a game it was and is. The animation, sprites, and combo system is what pulls me in.
2. It's easy, the combo system can be intricate but quick and fast pace for beginners. You can play for fun without really knowing what to do, just know how to play a fighting game.
3. It's in my top 3 on 2-d fighters; an easy game with a great gameplay, story, music. Its not one of those games with good graphics.

2. I really don't know to be honest with you, I never played any of the past games.

I'd buy it based on the franchise- the characters and story are incredible. I think that is the only downside to this iteration- the story has been removed....sadly :(
It is incredibly easy- my wife, who doesn't play games with me, used to play this all the time when I had the xbox version. I think anyone can appreciate the gameply.
I think it is the best 2d fighter, easily- Its story and characters are way beyond any other fighter- and the fighting is awesome to watch. They did a great job setting up ridiculous characters and circumstances. What other game has a langly surgeon fighting with a scalpel and wearing a bag over his head? Not Street Fighter, that is for sure. [-(

1) I am a huge 2D fighting fan and can remember playing Guilty Gear on the Dreamcast alone with a ton of other classic 2D fighters on that system.
2) 2D Fighters are easy to get into, it the challenge of mastering them that presents the real challenge.
3) Street Fighter is tighter and more grounded while Guilty Gear is a little more strange and quirky. Sometimes GG gets a little two wierd, some of the special moves just make you shake your head but that may not be a bad thing.

1. If I purchased it, it would be because past iterations felt like Arc Systems cutting their teeth on the genre, and they are due to clean up their mistakes. If you liken the original Guilty Gear to Street Fighter 2 or Garou Densetsu, as raw and unfiltered experimentation, then Arc Systems may be at the point to produce a title at the level of Super Street Fighter 2X or KOF '96, especially if departing from Guilty Gear to design Hokuto no Ken gave them a different perspective on gameplay balance. I have my doubts in their abilities, though.
2. I think that 2D fighting games are traveling down a road similar to that taken by vertical and horizontal scrolling shooters. The style will not be obscure to any fan of over-the-top Japanese superheroics. But the gameplay will continue to become increasingly obscure and technical. This won't exclude new players, but it will put them at an almost impossible handicap when playing those with experience. I'm not a fan of that progression, but it seems steady and inevitable.
3. It's a very different experience than what's found in the Street Fighter franchise, or in any of SNK's works, so for me, it's hard to put it in an "All 2D Fighter" ranking. I prefer a more grounded fighter, so I'd have to rank games like Street Fighter 2, 3, and Garou: Mark of the Wolves above it. The focus on aerial combat (with most characters) smacks of MVC2, sans the brutal lockdown, which is generally negated by the Burst system. That aspect always seems to remind me of Waku Waku 7. So it would probably fall around those two titles in my personal ranking... perhaps adjusted somewhat when I actually get to try the game.

1) Yes, I would personally purchase it as I had it for the Dreamcast and I was amazed by the great combat systems and nice high-resolution sprites. I'm a HUGE 2D fan, but I like 3D fighting games as well (when done well).
2) Very easy to get into. Though I do wish more of my friends would stick around to play longer. If it's a game I play regularly and they've never played they tend to lose interest fast. After all nobody likes to lose continuously :( Even I can relate to that one cuz I actually suck at most 2D fighters...I just enjoy them though.
3) For classics sake I would say Street Fighter is definitely deeper (at least in the past) but Guilty Gear is a lot more flashy...which in my opinion can be just as fun. I like both series and will continue to support both :) Now I just hope that Street Fighter IV is 2D...

2. The game has a lot of depth, so i think it would be hard to get into the storyline starting out from this far in, but i think i can manage.
3. I've played a guilty gear series game before and the fighting system takes a little while to get used to when you're normally a street fighter player, but after a while guilty gears controls feel quite comfortable :D. I would rank guilty gear almost as high as street fighter 3rd strike, higher than street fighter II (all the iterations of it), and the highest on the scale would be marvel vs. capcom 1 or 2.

I both enjoy 2D fighters, as well as past GG games (isuka excluded)
it would be difficult for a video game amateur. it was my first 2d fighter though, but i played SF a few times before, just not regularly.
I rank GGXX pretty high. i love the pacing and the characters. KoF/SNK is my personal favorite, but GG and SF are close runners up.

1. Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
Of course. Its a incredibly fun game and i cant wait to see what its like on the wii.
2. Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
I think because of the multitude of 3d fighting games, this game stands apart, but i think that if someone plays it, they will be hooked. the charicters are so vivid and set apart from one another. Thier is a charicter for everyone.
3. If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
I think this is quite easily the best 2d fighting game franchise available. Street fighter was always counter intuitive to me in the way the combos flowed together. This game has very smooth animations and the combos flow together more naturally then most other 2d fighting games. I think it has many levels of depth. Someone with no experience can pick up this game and manage to "do something" while experienced players can hone their methods and simply dominate using advanced tactics and combos. ROCK ON!!!

I would like to pick the game up just because it brings back that old-school 2-D fighting style that I grew up with back in the days of arcade Tekken and Street Fighter.
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
From what I've experienced briefly, I believe that the gameplay is easy to get into, yet the controls (like most arcade fighters) are harder to master.
If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
I would rank it a low 9 in its genre considering how long it has lasted compared to other 2-D fighters.
Pros:
Guilty Gear games have insanely-awesome characters that differentiate from other 2-D Arcades.
I love the crazy animations with each character's move
Cons:
Controls may be hard to master.
Storylines could be better.

I would definitely be interested in any new game in the Guilty Gear series. I've been a fan ever since the import version of Guilty Gear X for the Dreamcast.
I think it's very easy to instantly get into, although the character design style may scare some gamers off.
I think that the Street Fighter series has a definite advantage over the Guilty Gear series since it's success in American arcades & early home versions for the SNES and Genesis got gamers familiar with the franchise. However, I think that the animation and overall fludity of Guilty Gear trumps the Street Fighter games hands-down.

1.) I would purchase due to being a huge fan of the GG series, as well as enjoying the past iterations even today.
2.) The best thing about 2-D fighters is that they're relatively player friendly, and easy to enjoy once you get the basics down.
3.) Street Fighter is the king of the 2-D fighting genre, but GG has it's own popular spot in the line-up and will always continue to do well.

Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
Yes definately. This game is the most popular fighting game in Japan and although it has been around for awhile in the US, it hasn't received the same critical acclaim that it has in Japan. Most of this is due to the fact that the fighting game genre has gone the way of the dodo... But even then, I love fighting games and always look forward to the next GOOD fighting game. This game being one of them.
Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
I think all fighting games are easy to get into... the problem is maintaining consistency and finding your groove once you're learning the game. A great deal of this comes from constant competition against people.
If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
I honestly think that after Street Fighter series of games that GGXX and it's other iterations is right up there with the best of the rest in regards to 2D fighters. It has proven that it has longevity.

I'm not sure, I bought Guilty Gear X2 and loved it, but then I bought Isuka and I felt I could have spent my money better. But I really like the series so I would like to give it a shot
If you have played Street Fighter, most of the basics are the same, so it's pretty easy to get into. If you want to master everything then it's very challenging, but still a very good solid fighter with cool anime characters.
I would rank it just as good as Street Fighter and King of the Fighters, it has the same feel and memorable characters. It's more like Marvel vs Capcom series, so if you like that, you'll like this one.

1. I have been a huge fan of guilty gear since the first time I played it on ps, I would play it because I have always been a fan of these games.
2. It really matter because GG has one of the most complex combo systems of any 2d fighter, and as many before me have stated, the people that are good at the game are just insane and near impossible to beat. That makes this game easy to get into if there isn't alot of compition around so you can learn and such but a very hard game to get good at if all you can play is really good people.
3. Well I am a big fighting game fan in general so I have played alot of both street fighter and Guilty Gear and they both have their strong suits and places they arn't that great in. One of the biggest things that set them apart is speed. SF is kinda floaty feeling and GG is like +WOOSH+ they are really on different sides of the spectrume in that sense. But they both work on the same type of my set up.(mostly qrtrcircle moves and the like.) and they also have people with abnormal skills like fire balls and such. They are both great games but very different. Lets just say being good at one will not make you better at the other in this case.

1. I have never heard of this Guilty Gear beofre until just now. However, if I were to receive this for free, then I would consider looking into it and possibly introduce it to my friends as well.
2. I feel that this sort of fighting games are pretty easy to get into, it just a matter of whos into it and how it makes them feel.
3. Well Street Fighter is very well knows through the world, but so is this game it seems to me, so I dont really know. I like MK the most, so out of 5 ill give this game a 4. same with Street Fighter

I've played past games and never really got into them. If I had friends with an interest, I'd give it a whirl.

Easy to play, hard to master.

I prefer old-school 2-D fighting games with less action. Newer games benefit more button-masher then attack and counter.

1) Since 2D fighters are a rare breed genre now and the Wii doesn't have a true fighting game until Smash Bros, I would certanly try this game out for my Wii.
2) Very easy to get into for anybody who has played 2D fighters before should be right at home.
3) Average at best, the series hasn't achieved a international following as strong as other series like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Heck those two games managed to have movies! Terrible, terrible movies! Well the first MK was ok...

1. I've never been too big on fighting games, as they're all about multiplayer and none of my friends really play fighting games with me, save for Smash Bros. However, I've always loved 2D fighters since the days of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, so I think I'd pick it up simply due to that sense of nostalgia coupled with a feeling of newness.
2. A lot of fighters seem to have a "easy to learn, hard to master" feeling to them, since you can just mash buttons initially, but eventually learn a character and the style the game is played. There certainly is a lot of complexity within a 2D fighter, but I think a lot of people are turned off by spritework and the 2D, pushing it into the obscurer realms of gaming as people compare it to more modern games, so they don't give it much of a chance to begin with.
3. I think Street Fighter is definitely on top of the 2D fighters, so I think GG would be more of a middle tier due to it being harder to learn the more complex actions.

Probably the latter, as I've never playeed Guilty Gear before.
2
I don't know. I mean, I think people have gotten used to non-2D fighters.
3
I really can't. I mean, obviously I've played Street Fighter, but I've never touched a Guilty Gear game.

I would purchase the game due to the fact that its been going on for so long and I haven't played it yet. I hear great things but never got into it before. Also I am a fan of fighting game in general
It looks like a pretty easy game to jump into.
Besides street fighter being old and this might change with SF HD but i think the graphics side of things this game just screams at you when you watch it. Its high paced and very colorful.

1. I would purchase the game with an arcade stick an if its online. I also like fighting as a genre but I like other genres a lot more.
2. I always had a hard time pulling off the combos and usually just button mash.
3. I have fond memories of Street Fighter when I was a kid so I would rate Street Fighter higher than Guilty Gear because of that.

I've never played Guilty Gear but if it's anything like Street Fighter, I'd love to try it out.
I love 2D fighters. They look so simple but are so complex. No way is the gameplay obscure.
Like I said, I've never played Guilty Gear but now that we're talking about it, I have a sudden urge to try it.

1. Guilty Gear has been a long running franchise for the past (10+) years, would you purchase the game due to playing past iterations or as a 2-D fighting game fan in general?
I'd buy it due to past releases. As a 2-D fighting game I remember looking at the very first one on PS2 and not seeming too interested in buying it. I'm glad my friend introduced it to me now because I love Guilty Gear!
2. Do you feel this sort of fighting game is pretty easy to get into or is its style and gameplay too obscure?
The game is so different than other fighting games. When I first got introduced, I had a friend show it to me. Honestly, this is a game that I feel you have to have someone introduce to you because it looks too complicated from the descriptions. Once I started playing though I got hooked. The game is very different and unique than ANY other fighting game out there. All the characters are different in every way, shape, and form. I love that about Guilty Gear!
3. If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.
I think Guilty Gear could be greater than Street Fighter, but the problem is if you look at about 10 "Fighting Game Players", I'd say about 4 out of the 10 would know how to play Guilty Gear. If I take the same 10; I bet 10 out of the 10 would know how to play Street Fighter. If Guilty Gear could do something crazy like adding in another 10 charaters in the next sequel, or work on a cross-fighting game, like doing a Guilty Gear vs SNK or something I think that'd boost the franchise better.
PROS...
*Unique fighting system
*Characters are all very different in fighting styles, stances, and personalities
*Fantastic and enjoyable single player mode
CONS...
*Very complicated fighting system, when I first played I had no idea what I was doing. I'm still a little confused here and there, still even after 4 years of gaming with the Guilty Gear franchise

Question 1: If i were to buy this game it would probably be because it is a 2-D fighting game, i just really like 2-D fighters like street fighter (which is my favorite).
Question 2: I would say it is harder to get into because people are so used to the more popular 2-D fighters like street fighter and mvc2 or something and this game has a unique fighting style and the presentation is unique as well
Question 3: I am a fan of street fighter 3rd strike and play it a lot so i would rank street fighter higher than this game only because i am biast and i like street fighter a lot. But i would rank this game higher than mvc2 because of how each character can be used in a different way and not just cheap ass infinites like mvc2.

Probably not, for a new 2-D fighting games I would perfer a new Marvel vs Capcom
I like 2-D most of them are easy to pick up I think this would be the same
never played any of them before but based on the screens it looks like it could be in the top 5 or 10 for a 2-D fighter

If you were to compare Guilty Gear XX Accent Core with Street Fighter, or other 2-D fighters out there, how would you rank it? Feel free to post pros and cons of the game as well.1. Well, I definetly have enjoyed previous fighting games, ranging from Street Fighter 1 to Hakuto no Ken. As far as GGXX:AC goes, I'd be more than willing to pick it up once it's at the right price point. I'm a hardcore kind of guy, if I have this title I would need to score the really sweet Hori arcade stick for Wii. I don't know if full price is the way to go with this title, it certainly has it's merits. I had GGX1, however my second PS2 died and I am badly in need of some old school fighting gaming.
2. A little bit from column A, and a little bit from column B. Guilty Gear has never been a series where you can get away with button mashing. You'll get punished severally but the computer or anyone that knows how to play the game. However, I don't think it's so obscure/hard that you couldn't pick it up in time. Like riding a bike for the first time, you have to expect to fall down a lot before you can ride it at all. Even then if you can ride it, it takes time to really ride it well. The same goes for Guilty Gear, and it's the kind of game where you get whatever you want out of it.
3. In my humble opinion, Guilty Gear is pretty darn high up on the fighting game tier. It's under Marvel vs Capcom 2, simply because that game is full of some much Marvel and fighting game fanwank. However, I think it's superior to the Street Fighter 3 set of games and Hakuto no Ken. The reason why I feel this way, is because it has more flair and appeal than Street Fighter 3. Hakuto no Ken on the other hand is simply really really hard to get into. Guilty Gear is a nice middle ground, and is a good choice as a fighting game intro...assuming all the crossdressers or femme males don't scare you off. Also, it's okay everyone is gay for Bridget.
