As for my ongoing saga, I'm starting to get a little pissed about it. The manager of one of the stores who said she'd talk to the DM still has not been able to get her to call back (she's been trying since late Dec). I finally went in there and talked to her in person last week - she didn't seem too concerned over the whole thing (and certainly didn't throw me out of the store or anything ;)). She said she would see the DM over the weekend. I haven't called to check - but then she didn't call me either which I expected her to do after all the delays. I'm pretty sure the manager is genuine in wanting to help me, but either the DM is avoiding the issue or more likely, just doesn't want to be bothered with it. I may have to go above her I guess and contact corporate. I figure at this point I've got nothing to lose. I didn't do a DAMN THING wrong, so now it is becoming a matter of principals.

I'm guessing that you'll get your account restored shortly after the copy of The Darkness you won drops down in the $8-$10 trade in range. Since it stayed at $32 this week I wouldn't expect to hear back from them anytime soon.

First, you need to find a delivery truck en route to a Wal-Mart, Target, or some other store that carries games. Cut off the driver and drive wrecklessly until the truck pulls over. With the driver distracted and pissed off, have a friend start rummaging throught the contents of the truck until he/she spots the box with copies of Darkness inside. Be sure to leave some money (remember, we're not Thief Ass Gamer ;)). Recommended amounts are $50 for three copies (comparable to the GS B2G1 deal) or $12.99 (comparable to the Gamefly end of the year sale). Once you have procured enough copies, disengage the driver and continue on your way.


Version # 2 (The one without sarcasm)

GS had a B2G1 sale right after Christmas. After discount and edge card, you could get three copies for about $50. In my situation, I had flipped Halo 3s from GR which resulted in some insane flipping percentage (about 10 to 20 cents on the dollar).

Gamefly was selling copies of Darkness for $12.99 as well although Two Worlds kind of stole the show ($9.99).

Unfortunately, (for you) I have three PS3s.....err, both deals are over.

In most cases, yes they ought to take it but its somewhat YMMV. One of my two local stores won't take games without cover art (in which case I just print it from The Cover Project) but they've never complained about a missing manual.

Huh? My local EB/GS stores are a bunch of a-holes when it comes to trades. Sure they take 'em, but even a microscopic scratch and they'll charge you a "refurb fee". I've refused to trade in a few after they dropped the trade price for it (I take very good care of my games).

With BB, I've NEVER gotten denied a trade because of the condition of the discs. So I guess it really is YMMV.

I finally used some of my credit and picked up a 120 HDD for my 360. Thought about getting an Elite as a backup, but I figure if mine poops out, I can pick up an Arcade then. I didn't want to wrangle with those BB folks about looking at their consoles to make sure I'm getting a Falcon. Some of the employees, particularly at the one that had an Elite, are really pretty nasty. This one lady remembers some basketball game I traded multiple times a few years ago, and every time I go in, she looks at me like I'm a crook.

I found out about the price change on Madden '06 (360) when I went into a Gamestop today to buy that game. That's really a shame. I'm sure us CAGs had a lot to do with the price increase! Now Gamestop's corporate person who decided to make this price change is going to notice that the game is totally a nonseller. I wonder how long it'll take to see that price get back down to $4. . .

Maybe the price rose because they're planning on having another buy two get one free deals. . . and then people would grab 'em up all over again.

These stores are called bullshit speaking asshat stores. Employees at BSA stores tend to spew garbage like this. I had one store deny me from purchasing 3 copies of Madden 06 and 3 copies of Darkness during the B2G1 sale. I went to another GS near a BB/GR and got them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they enacted that policy because too many people were buying 2 copies of the same game by accident and then returning the extra copy after they realized what they did! I'm sure after you consider how confusing video-game packaging has become over the years you'll realize its really for our own good and want to support the policy corporate wide!:dunce:

I don't get it. Is it supposed to be on clearance at Target? I thought I found a goldmine tonight with 8 unmarked copies of the 360 version of The Bigs at my local Target. Yeah, they were $29.99... I understand them not being the same price ($7.48 vs $14.98 or whatever) but usually when things are on clearance at Target they are pretty universal. Oh well... It would have been a pain to find stores to trade them in at anyway, but I definitely would have used the Gamecrazy price match deal and gotten more credit there out of a couple of copies.

You can't stack promotions at GS. You can stack the edge card with ANY promotion, but you can't stack other promotions together.

Still not bad though, pay $18 per copy of Darkness and trade them in at $32. I did 5 of these today. After taxes I made $60 in "free" credit.

Use the coupon in the EB/GS 10% off thread to bring down the price of The Darkness. It's still not a great ratio though.

You can atleast knock 10% off that with the edge card, but your right best flip I can see now is MUA/Forza two pack for around 16 at GS (edge+10% off coupon) for 37 at BB/GR.

What i did was use some DVD cases I had, and printed out the covers at staples (5 copies of each, i believe the colour copies were 25 cents each). Scanned perfectly didnt look twice at the black box instead of the green ones. Since the bastards at GS raised the price of Madden'06 it looks like this is the only easy to get to game (besides the clearance at target and cc which are yymv)

u could just ask for the covers too. some GS reps are cool. and i had 1st traded in Forza2MUA w/ the original litho. just cut it in half and put in separate cases. the 2nd,3rd time i printed covers on regular paper, scanned no problem

Yes, although it varies store to store. Some stores will let you preorder just about anything, others wont. You can usually call and ask. Also note that some people have had problems with GRush delivering on preorders but others, such as myself, have not.

Until you find out how reliable your store is, don't expect to get the game on release day.

Darkness for 360 is the 'used game deal of the week' at gamestop so its 19.99 instead of 26.99 or something. With the edge card its even better and trades in for 32 at BB. For now that is, don't they update prices on tuesdays?

I hope you sold it for a huge profit. Even with all the new games and the ones coming out, I still think Re4 Wii edition is the game I am going to be playing most, I just love how the game handles.

Also, Rock band is glaring at me. I'm up to 108 store credit but after a Forza/Darkness flip today I will be pretty close. Too bad the thing right next to it is a PS3 which is also begging to be picked up. Has anyone seen a used ps3 at a GR? I live like 45 mins away from one, and would wanna know the price before I make the trip (since alot of stores bs you when you ask for prices on the phone).

Normally mine do not, but yesterday, I went in to a different GR than I normally go to and they said that they were not allowed to take those (MUA/Forza 2) because they knew that they came from the 360 PRO deal. I highly, highly doubt it. At least the ones near me would have a 1% chance to get the game in stock. One store had a Mass Effect stand up poster (stating "buy it now" or something) and still didn't even have copies of the game to sell. I would be happy if I could just get my hands on the normal edition, but good luck.

I think the ordering got screwed up due to the release date getting pushed up a month from what was orginally announced.

I called yesterday and the store said that they weren't going to get any in until End of Febuary or Early March (the old Release date I believe)

Doesn't bother me too much. I bought 2 Darkness for 360 at 19.99 each with a 10% edge on it. Also purchased Ice Age 2 for the Wii and Hour of Victory for 360 with the 10% coupon and stack.

$68 spent at GS became $129 at BB.

Depends on the store. The stores that generally rent Blu rays usually sell them new as well. Just check the store locater on the Blockbuster website to see which ones carry it.

Not sure what others stores are like, but all the stores here (GR or BB) only sell Fantastic 4: Silver Surver & Live Free or Die Hard as new. They do advertise certain titles they have for pre-order, and if it exists, they let you pre-order the Blu-Ray version.

One of the first things I asked after I heard BB would start selling gift cards, cell phones, mp3 players, tv's and computers is if they actually planned to start selling all new movies (rather than the crap selection they usually get). Of course, that was met with an "we havent heard anything about it".

Next time you go to Gamestop, ask them if they can give you some 360 cases. Often (every time I've asked) they have them behind the counter from the dummy preorder boxes and are more than willing to give them to you for free.

Luckily my BB guys took the single double disc case that came with the Pro bundle. Took em a while to look up the games, but yea...I was really not looking forward to scanning/printing!

I did some serious CAG work the other day when trading in a game at a Blockbuster in Columbus, Ohio. When I was waiting in line to trade in my game (my last cheaply-obtained Madden '06 :( -- Oh well) a big group of Blockbuster employees were standing nearby discussing where they were planning on having lunch together. This group was mostly women, but the person in charge was a man in his mid-forties and he seemed to be some sort of executive. I figured he was either a district manager or regional manager, and that probably all those people were managers or owners of various Columbus Blockbuster stores. He could've been the vice president for all I know. . .

Anyhoo, he finished up discussing what was on the agenda and passed near me. That was my cue to grab his attention with a very important question: "Hey, I was wondering when Blockbuster would run another one of those 'buy one game get the second at 50% off' sales like you had last year?" He replied to me that with Blockbuster under new corporate management, there hadn't been any decisions yet made about going back to the kind of sales they produced in the past. I made it very clear to him that I really wanted to see specials like that return to Blockbuster. His reply was that he would relay that message to those who make the big decisions.

I sure hope we see another sale in the next month or two.

Best bet, for me, is that I have a couple 15 off 100 circuit city coupons.
Buy them there, 5 for 85, $17 a piece plus tax, works out to a 11.xx profit.
Good luck finding 5 copies at a store.

With these coupons, they actually take a percentage off. So if you find, 3 copies, which my stores limit you to 3 of any title anyways. Just fill the rest up with crap, and then return it afterwards.

Or the best idea is, buy it now, assuming it is $49.99. Then get a price match when BBYs ad comes out for $19.99 - 10% difference, that would be a total of $17 after PM + taxes.

I grabbed but didn't check yet, NBA Live 07, it was 8.99 after edge card. I though on the circuit city clearance this was mentioned as a decent flip.
With the batch of stuff to trade today, i'll be up to $570.
Including 'free' credit(from games bought with profit of selling other stuff from Blockbuster), my cash out will be under $200.

I have 6 different blockbusters that I trade into to. Definitely have to get a feel for how each stores operates.
The store closest to me is the biggest pain.
After being flagged for trading too many 'new' beowulf's last month, I decided to do one copy per store, period.
