Did you pre-order Mass Effect, or were there copies available for everyone to buy? If the latter, what was the amount of copies available.

My store said they didn't do pre-orders, so they were just available to anyone. They hadn't even unpacked the box with Mass Effect yet, so they were opening stuff up and looking for it for me. I know I saw at least two more copies in the box, but am not sure if there were more than that. I'm doubting it, as they usually only get 1 or 2 copies of new games.

All Pro Football 2K8 dropped to 8$, so I only broke even on my last copy :(

But on the bright side, I traded King Kong for 5$ (I now have it on HD)

I also picked up Rock Band and Mass Effect.

I tried to preorder Links Crossbow Training, and it's not in their system. Bummer ;(

Darkness and HOV - GS B2G1
Gun - Best Buy $5

If you use the $5 off 360 game coupon, you must ring up TWO copies of the game and use the coupon ONCE. This will cause one game to be $0 and the other to stay $4.99. It will NOT work on one game- you must have SOMETHING else on the transaction (games always work). Theoretically, an employee can scan the coupon multiple times and apply it to the transaction multiple times, but YMMV on an employee doing that. If you want your game cheap enough, just buy two at a time with one coupon. $5 = 2 Gun. Like I said, possible to get 10 copies of Gun for $5, but VERY YMMV.

Ahhh...hmm, is GUN $5 at Best Buy already? Or does that not go into effect until Thurs? If that's the case, how much is it at Best Buy right now? If its $10, I'd probably pick it up.

man, screw that GameCrazy has the HoV for 19.99 new, and I heard they adjust the prices on used games as well. So with my card they will be like 13.69 each if I find 3 of em' and get the third free. Use my measly 2 bucks I have left in credit. 27 bucks turns into over 90 bucks at blockbuster......

Hi, I checked some trade in prices while I was at Blockbuster/Gamerush getting my copy of Rockband. FYI, most of the stores in my area had Rockband available for people who pre-ordered it. I only pre-ordered my copy last week. We need to keep a list of the good flippers and where to find them as started above. Thanks to djkunai for the trade in prices.

Happy Feet - Wii - $26
Ice Age 2 - Wii - $23
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - PS3 - $23 - GS/EB $17.50
Darkness - PS3 - $33 confirms previous post
Hour Victory - 360 - $32 confirms previous post

Games we need to check:

Jaws Unleashed - PS2
Jaws Unleashed - Xbox
Madden 2006 - 360- $8 - ? current price
Rayman Raving Rabbits - 360
Need for Speed Carbon - PS3
Motorstorm - PS3
Genji - PS3

**Does anyone know if Hastings is going to have some Black Friday sales?

Thanks,

The best possible is Halo 3 if used as part of the +30% promotion.

35$ + 30% (Powertrade or trade 5) + 10% edge = just about break even.

My GR's are selling Halo 3 for 45$ used.

Remember: Buy 2 get 1 free on used games at EB/GS. This sale lasts all weekend I believe?

I'm done for today, Kunai I don't know how you do this so much.

I bought 6x HoV from CCity/BBuy. I traded these in at GRush for $32 a piece. I also bought 6 copies of HoV from Amazon for $9.99 each, no tax (first time ever they didn't charge me tax and I'm in Cali), and free shipping.

6 copies of Madden 06 at GameStop (edge + B2G1F) cost me $19.36. All 6 copies flipped at $8 a piece.

2 copies of Happy Feet bought from CCity for $10.79 apiece, traded in for $26 apiece.

$101.83 spent for $292 credit. Not too shabby but I'm exhausted. I just need Amazon to ship me those 6 HoV so I can 'return' them to CCity/BBuy.

Actually no, GameRush is giving $8 per copy of Madden 06. Very strange.

This is actually a very easy flip for any CAGs that want to make a bit of credit. The EB/GS that I went to had 10+ copies of Madden 06. Just find enough blockbusters (2 copies of one game per store per day).

Don't forget you can always buy from Gamefly and flip it back to BB if you're worried about all those GameStop stickers always covering the box (although I myself remove them before entering the store). I found The Darkness for $23 with free shipping, and if you have that $10 coupon as a member, that's $13, and since it trades at $32, you're getting a 246% increase on that sale. :)

Couple more things you could buy to get a nice chunky return (according to the most recent Wiki updates):

Buy Two Worlds at GameFly for $20, trade in for $35 (At $10, that'd be a 350% increase)
Buy Motorstorm at GameFly for $24, trade in for $33 (At $14, that'd be a 236% increase)

Here's to hoping Two Worlds is still at the same price. Does anyone know? I might just jump on it.

I'd stopped doing any dealing with BB/GR for months until this past weekend. I took advantage of the EB B2G1 sale to get 5 copies of the Darkness and 1 HoV, using trades at EB for half of the cost. I then traded all of those in at 3 local BB's, getting about $205 bucks in store credit, which I used to pick up Rock Band and a 1600 point Xbox Live card.

Total actually out of pocket: about $52 bucks. The TIV for both The Darkness and HoV was $32.

Will be interesting to see if those two hold their TIV tomorrow...

Or be like most assholes recently on eBay and overcharge shipping by 2x. :P

I am not trying to attack you, but to be honest, I don't understand why people bash those on "high shipping costs" ebay.

If you do not look at shipping charges before you buy, you shouldn't buy. Charging higher shipping costs is a way to keep fees down, obviously those that charge $25 to ship a flash based Mp3 player from within the contiguous 48 states is unreasonable.

But a cost of $8 for first class doesn't seem bad to me. Which would be 2x the actual cost.

Higher shipping costs is a way of not allow ebay to eat ALL your profits. =X

Again, don't take it personally. Its just a matter of fact, I used to sell on ebay and fees continue to rise and shipping costs continue to rise. Competitors charged more shipping than I did and their final cost was higher than mine. But due to the horrible system, theirs outsold mine while we had comparable feedback/pictures/etc. Just a big flaw in the system, and as ebay raises prices, shipping costs will go up as well.

And to add to that, if anyone has taken their "shipping charge" test, its bull #$%^. They expect customers to pay EXACT cost of shipping when they know that PAYPAL eats a good 3-5% of our costs. Therefore, if we even considered charging exact shipping costs, we'd be at a loss. >_>

I just wanted to make sure of a couple things before I proceed:

For those with GS/EB that have the extra fifty percent, does Halo 3 still trade at $35? I just want to make sure because with the extra fifty percent and edge card, I'm suppose to get (35+17.50+3.50) $56 which is actually more than what they sell the game for used. Has anyone actually traded in Halo 3 for $56 with success? Thanks.

Karuto
11-27-2007, 04:54 AM
@ AzN - Oh, I totally understand that you want to cover the costs. I'm talking about charging $20 to ship out some pens or something. If they're worried about making such a big loss, then they should try someplace other than eBay. I mean, I've also sold items on there, but you have to take into consideration what you're getting into. Unless you're a reseller, I'd set the actual price higher or something like that than what you're expected to get, rather than forcing a fixed price down the consumer's throat.

I'm not saying all people do it, but the ones that do, do it so blatantly that it just puts a lot of people off, especially when you see the cost of shipping cause the price to be higher than if you got it from the actual offline/online retail giants themselves.

I played it this weekend and it was awesome. Unfortunately, according to my friends, I can't sing but I'm pretty good at the drums. Damn them for giving me Sabotage as a tryout song.

How much is Halo 3 at GR? The trade value at EB/GS is $35 + 30% (coupon) + 10% (EdgeCard) = $49. Not bad. Thank you

Halo 3 is $44.99 at GR. As of yesterday it traded for 35 at GS/EB. Throw in the extra 30% trade in coupon and you can get 35 + 10.50 = 45.50 at GS/EB. You take a slight loss after tax but GS/EB credit is more valuable than GR credit imo.

I read the other thread and it looks like the edge card works so that's 10% more in trade in value therefore you can make a $5 profit as well. Anybody know how many copies you can trade at once of Halo 3?

nlyonssmith
11-28-2007, 05:16 PM
Using the Edge + Coupon is not always 100%. Some managers wont allow it. Your best bet is to hand them the edge card then hand them the coupon. That usually works for me.

I got $49 for my Halo 3 copy yesterday and I may flip a couple more copies before that 30% coupon expires.

At EB/GS trading in more than 1 copy of a game at a time is YMMV. If you want to try more than that say that you are trading in games for your cousins who are too young to drive or have their own trade account. I use that line at GR all the time.

Figured out a way to actually get a bit more cash at EB/GS for those looking to convert. LEGO Star Wars: The Original Trilogy for GameCube is $9.99 at GR and trades for $10 at EB, according to their website.

So that would make it $13 with the 30% coupon and $14 with EDGE. Not incredible but definately good for those wanting to convert credit.

I happen to be near a few of the GS/EBs that are currently running the extra %50 on trades (stackable with Edge). Despite the fact that GS sells used copies of Halo 3 for $54.99, I was able to trade in three of them for $56 each. One store even let me trade in two at one time (highly YMMV). I also got lucky because one GS had the first party monitor cables mispriced for $14.99 instead of the usual $19.99 (unless things have changed recently). I finally traded in my copy using the extra %30 (didn't want to trade in 4 copies of Halo 3 between two stores). Needless to say, I think I'm done messing around with GR credit for a little while. It's not everyday that you can actually convert GR credit into (more) GS/EB credit, and I have a feeling that GS corperate is beginning to get the idea. So without further ado, if you've got GR credit and your BB/GR has Halo 3, what are you waiting for?

It's a thread for discussing all things Blockbuster/ Gamerush. Yes, there are discussions about games that can be purchased on the cheap from other stores but still have high trade values at BB. Also there's some general Q&A stuff like my question earlier about gift cards.

mkernan

Figure out trade-in values for games at Blockbuster/Gamerush. Find those games cheap somehow; oftentimes used at Gamestop w/ coupon or other promo. Then trade them in to Blockbuster at a profit. You can often get twice the trade-in credit for whatever money/GS credit you put into the process.

For example, I've been buying up every used copy of Madden 2006 for 360 at my area Gamestops. After Edge card, its like $3.60 per copy but trades in to Gamerush/BB for $8. Repeat the process a bunch of times and you're golden (preferably with higher-priced items though). that's the general idea.

PS2 Jaws Unleashed is currently on clearance at Target at $10 (50%) right now. It should drop to 75% sometime soon at most stores so a $5 buy to $16 trade in (if the value holds) would be pretty sweet.

From today (Tues):

:360: Bionicle Heroes $12 (d'oh! This was $15 before, so there's a drop that just happened. I forgot what it was when Iwas trading earlier. Oh well, only paid $4.41 for it anyway ;))
:360: Gun $12

And I just discovered that my local little Blockbuster DOES INDEED have used copies of Halo 3. Several in fact. They just kept them behind the register instead of out with the rest of the used games :bomb:...

Now I need to figure out how this coupon works and see if I can convert some of that useless credit!

Copying and pasting the link does work. Your best flip is probably Halo still, $35 -> $49 with edge.

Looks like Halo 3 dropped to $32 at EB/GS (according to a CAG in the 30% coupon thread) so the BEST you can do (coupon + Edge) is $44.80, and I could see my store denying the Edge stack. It is $45 at BB/GR, right? I may still do this but I have to admit the loss of $4 makes it just that much less tempting (considering also that I have to drive 20 miles round trip to the GS to do the trade by the 6th). It is really too bad BB didn't come up with the rumored used game sale in December - or at least not yet. 25% off or B2G1 free would have made a nice combo with the EB/GS coupon.

Does anyone know the trade values of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Shrek 3, and/or Spiderman 3 for 360? Sorry to ask but my Blockbuster won't give out quotes over the phone. Also my Blockbuster will only let me trade in two copies of a game period? Is that odd because I see lots of you guys saying two a day is your limit. Its just a regular Blockbuster if that matters. Thanks for any answers/help.

WOW that shit already hit $19.99 new for 360 and PS3! That SHOULD make used copies like 16 or 17... Time to start building credit again. This time though i'm gonna try to do as much as I can before the 30% GS coupon dies and use Halo 3 to move Gamerush credit back over to Gamestop credit.

Thanks Warner very nice find. :D

An individual store is certainly able to make up their own restrictions and 2 of a title, ever, is reasonable. There are always other Blockbusters if you need to spread more around. I kind of make it a personal rule not to do more than 1 or 2 copies of any single game at one location anyway.

I did see an interesting thing today that must be new. When I did my game trades there was a new employee that she was showing the transaction to. Everything was pretty much as expected but then she told him that they were shown a number which says how many more copies they are allowed to take of that title. That must be a new thing. If not, it is nothing I've ever heard mentioned before. Maybe they are finally limiting the number of copies (total) of any given title so a store doesn't get swamped with something. If true, that is certainly overdue ;).

Been working at BBV for about 7 months. If a title is able to be traded in, the limit is 999. If its not able to be traded in, its listed as ---. Rarely do I ever see anything other than that, except when I traded in 3 copies of Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer for Wii (30 each) did it go down to 996.

That number has been there for as long as BB/GR has accepted trades. It's a useless number to have though, because it is set to 999 for all titles that we accept trades on. The only titles we don't accept for trade (besides shit like the $1 movies they sell at Walgreens) are movies that we just transferred from rental to used movies and have like 100 copies. So yeah, unless a game has been traded into that store over 900 times, you don't have anything to worry about.

I guess djkunai is probably too busy Kunaiing to keep the Wiki updated ;). I had kind of been leaving that to him.

I looked through the Halo 3 copies they had and only one was in decent condition (and it looked unused - I'm assuming this was all rental stock and for whatever reason this one didn't get put out and they just decided to dump it as a used title - the girl their said they got 30 originally and they didn't sell any new copies there).

So I guess I'll head to GS this evening and flip my one copy. I can't see getting Beowulf and doing the ping-pong flip though.

But we were flipping years before you came up with this concept so I guess someone finally actually laid claim to a term to use for flipping.

Well, I guess it will take some time for kunai to get use to reffering to himself as a verb because he misspelled his own word in the example.

Also, for those that have a Target clearancing 360 Blitz, it's at $10 (50% off) now and if it hits 75% off at 5 bucks then it will make a great trade if the wiki value of 22 still holds. Personally, I'm looking to kunai four copies and keep one for myself!

I'd love to hear about the fantastic trades that preceeded me!

Did you just start with GR in Mar 2007 when you joined CAG? If so, oh, man, there is a huge list...

The Drake one is pretty old - that is even before my time.

I was looking through old receipts trying to find something and recalled a few more recent ones. There was a period in January 2006 where you could buy Echo Night Beyond and Kuon for $10 at GS (I think) and trade them at BB for $24. And at the same time Flatout for the Xbox was available in piles at TRU for $9.98 and traded for $27. A few months before that you could get Galleon and Nightmare of Druaga from TRU for $7 and trade them for $19.

Then there was Red Ninja which I think was usually $10 at CC but for some reason I have it marked (on my BB trade-in slip) as costing me $7.80 - must have been a 25% off or something at CC. That traded for $27 for a while. I still see copies of that sitting at some of my local Blockbusters ;).

Here's some more: Marc Ecko's Getting Up was $7.96 at CC and traded for $24. Plus you got to keep the silver sharpie if you got the LE to trade. Geist was a $9.98 -> $24 conversion. I have Dead To Rights II for Xbox showing as $8.33/$9.97 -> $27. Exit for PSP $8.96 -> $23. Nightmare Before Christmas $8.96 -> $24. There was a time there when CC was a gold mine for credit building because the games you were trying to buy were not popular so they could be found easily and you didn't feel bad buying them up as no one else wanted them anyway.

More: Constantine was $9.90 at Fry's and traded for $23. Ooh, found an earlier receipt where I traded a $10 Echo Night Beyond for $30. Then there was Powerdrome which was cheap various places but I think I got some from Target for $2.48 and traded for $12. One of my best flips ever in terms of it coming out of the blue (as well as in terms of percentage gain) was a GBA Dora game I got at Kmart for $4. I actually got it for my son but it had a lame-ass password save so I took it to GR and got an astounding $17.50 for it. Got $23 for a $10 copy of PowerPuff Girls Relish Rampage for the GC. There's lots more ;).

And don't forget that during most of that time you could get a preorder fully paid for on any game for just $29.99 when you traded 2 games. There was nothing quite like trading in 2 games that cost you $8-$20 total and getting a $50 game preorder like FF XII or Zelda Twilight Princess paid off and an extra $10-$30 back in GR credit.

Oh, and to bring us back to current times, I was able to take that Halo 3 I got from my local BB to GS and got $44.80 for it, so a nice nearly-even exchange there. I was also able to take the extra Zelda Phantom Hourglass from my DS bundle (since I had the game already) and trade that for $28 at GS using the 30% bonus. Nice... That is really a conversion of Gamecrazy credit to EB, but I'l take it.

Wow, all the great memories. I loved that Trade 2 get a Pre-Order for $29.99. I was lucky enough to Pre-Order 360 games with that deal...got about 6-8 games that way. They also had the deal trade 2 games in and get a Pre-Owned for $5. This could be an endless cycle of flipping.

I have't flipped really in a long time actually...although, I may get 1 or 2 copies of Beowolf....that would be ideal. Maybe at lunch, I have some errands to run.

The Trade 2 Get a Pre-Owned for $5 was my personal favorite. And I seem to remember some PS2 college basketball game that was hot a few years ago as well — a $5 EB game for $24 in GR credit or something like that. Another note: I have some Blockbusters near me that, from time to time, put all their used games out for $14.99. I was able to pick up titles such as Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, NBA Street Homecourt (360), Oblivion (PS3) all on the cheap with GR credit, take them back to my GR, and trade them for more than I paid. So essentially, BB/GR was paying me to take their product from one store to another.

I know it's typically a 2-game limit per store per day on same copies, but is it possible to kunai 2x PS3 Beowulf's and 1x 360 Beowulf on the same day? There's only one GR near me, and if I don't have to make two trips, I'd be very happy.

BTW, I like this "kunai" as a verb.

sam1982
12-06-2007, 04:14 PM
You can. You can trade up to 2 copies of any game title per system per day. I traded 2 ps3 copies for 36.00 each and 2 xbox 360 copies for 35.00 for a total of 142.00 in one trip.

Unless you are friendly with your BBV employees or you have a really good recurring excuse, it seems to be asking for trouble trading in so many copies of a game, especially by abusing the per system factor there.

Good luck doing it, I get enough questionable looks as it is when I flip 2 copies of the same game at one store.

Also, on the topic of epic deals, GR had one in May or so of 2005.

Trade any 3 games, get any used game in stock for $4.99. Combined with a GameCrazy, this turned into:

Buy 3 games for $11 cash at GameCrazy (B2G1 Free on $4.99 and under games). Flip the 3 games for $6 in credit at GameRush. Buy God of War for $4.99 with credit. Take God of War back to GameCrazy, get $35 credit. Buy another 9 games from GameCrazy with that credit. Trade the 9 games to GameRush to get God of War, Star Wars Episode 3 on PS2, and Episode 3 on Xbox. Trade them into a different GameRush for $115 in credit. Pick up a copy of God of War.

In the end I would have $115 credit to GameRush and a copy of God of War ready to go back to GameCrazy the next day for another 9 games. Lather rinsed and repeated over a week or two. Made $800 credit out of $11 cash. I didn't kunai properly and was banned from one store (the ban was gone by a year later).

io
12-06-2007, 06:06 PM
Ok, so you were around for that deal then ;). Others above were talking about the same thing (they said 2 games, I was pretty sure it was trade 3 like you say). That was the deal that led to a lot of bannings and the deal was pulled early. After all, it invited epic abuse.

I never used it to flip, but I did grab a few things like Ep III for PS2, Republic Commando for Xbox, and a few others and eBay them to help pay for my GR trade fodder (I mean, I probably used the deal 4 or 5 times total). Although I had access to many Gamecrazy's the thought of doing the full kunai never occured to me ;). I could also only use it at my local BB as the GR store came up with the wierd restriction that the games traded had to be worth more than $15 each or something. I found out later they retracted that but by that time the deal had been cancelled.

io, Beowulf 360 and PS3 is $19.99 at EB/GS regardless of what it's tagged at. Some stores restickered things early yesterday morning, and some are just lazy (typically, the high-volume stores at the mall). The same thing happened when Oblivion 360 dropped to $29.99 - most stores still had it tagged at $59/54, but the system rings it correctly. To the best of my knowledge, there's no manual price-changing at EB/GS - it's all handled internally on their network.

Well, yes, I figured that ;). But when I was in the store last night I couldn't remember what the deal was you guys were talking about and at the time it didn't help that they hadn't restickered. I wasn't sure if people were buying it new or used (sometimes one drops before the other and such). It probably wouldn't have mattered anyway as I didn't remember what you guys said it traded for at Blockbuster so I would have passed.

I can still get in on it this weekend (before any potential drop on Tuesday), obviously - just not the Halo 3 return flip unless another bonus coupon comes out. I may yet still pick up a Beowulf ;).

So, the "Move Cash" changes this from $22 for $38 in credit to $22 for $38 in BB Credit AND $5 for the movies? Nice; every 4 of these I flip costs me $88; I get $144 in BB credit and a date gets paid for out of it? Kickass.

Hm...do you know of anyone who might be interested in trading $350 or so in BB/GR Credit for $300-350 in Amazon credit?

No, but if you do give me their contact info!

I went back and asked the guy let me see the copies that I traded in. Got the cash from the 8 I traded, and gave him 1 that someone else had traded in (there were 3 total, and 2 were already taken out). Also, I only found the cash in the 360 version. So I have 8 already with another 12 on the way. $100 in movie cash. Hooray!

TWENTY copies of Beowulf?? See, THIS is why we created a new verb for djkunai's flipping activity. And here I am going back and forth in my mind about doing just ONE copy.

Actually, Blockbuster has a buy 2 get 1 at the same time as they had the trade two get any one for $5 promo. One could kunai in this fashion:

(I'll do without tax to be easier)

Buy 4 Get 2 of cheapest games = 4 * $7 = $28
Trade 6 (1 credit each), get 3 games of most expensive = 15 - 6 = $9
Trade 3 (35 each), get 1 of most expensive = 5 - 105 = -100

$37 credit became 100 credit, plus a free game, which when traded in, gave you $35 of the $37 back.

Sure thing, just cover cost and shipping ($3). PM me.

On another note, I just kunaied 3 more 360 copies and another 8 PS3 copies. Will trade them in tonight/tomorrow.

That is a preety complete list. I remember that Ghost in the Shell and King of Fighters(MI) ($10 at Meijer/traded for 25 was pretty popular). There were several other popular $9.98 TRU clerance games (Romance of the Three Kingdoms X and Fight Night Rd. 2 for the GC) that also traded for 25+. I always found it funny when I would walk into a GR and see 5-10 of some of those titles lying around.

On the preorder 2 for 29.99 deal I think I was getting games on average for about 12.50. There was a time that deal overlapped with a trade three get a used game for 9.99 deal. Good times.

Most theaters take it (especially big companies like Pacific, Mann and Edwards). There's a site where you can check to see if you google moviecash. It's good for $5 off admission to Beowulf or $5 off at concession. I'm now at $120 with them. Enough to take out a big group of friends with popcorn and soda to boot. Maybe an end of the semester party.

Darn. I would have taken the dollar hit in trade value to get the movie cash for a family outing. Didn't even bother to look at the 360 versions.

Ah well. Four PS3 copies is probably enough to deal with this weekend anyway.

Cool, thanks! The best theater in the area accepts this stuff. Now I may have to get more than 1 Beowulf ;). I can probably get rid of 3 before next Tuesday... That will almost pay for a ticket for me and one of the kids.

Wait, is the admission only for Beowulf? But the food can be used at any time I assume? That's not quite so great since I usually stay away from the movie food anyway. I was hoping to use it to get into another movie (like Golden Compass).

i havent traded anything to BB/GR in years, but i remember the drake deal a lot of guys got banned for this type of thing. Spread them out to 6 differnt stores.

These days, GR credit spends just fine. I picked up Rock Band without a preorder, can get most of the big releases within a week at a significant discount, and now they have started discounting some new release DVDs to compete with Walmart/Target in the first week.

(And that doesn't even factor in the element of swapping Halo 3 and Beowolf back and forth, bringing the pennies on the dollar lower with each swap.)

Very handy with a major gift holiday coming up and at least four gamers besides myself on my gift-giving list, and plenty of DVD watchers.

Oh, yeah, no doubt if I had a GR around I'd be kunaiing this as much as possible. It's just that without one I think 3 is more than enough. I'm heading out to CC anyway and nearby is a Mall with 2 EB/GS stores, so I'm hoping to pick up another Halo 3 at my BB, head up there, hit up CC, hit up the Mall, then get dinner ;). The Beowulf trades will have to wait until tomorrow.

I wish I just had the 1 back ;).

Anyway, I was able to stop by my local BB last night and pick through the Halo 3's again and find the least destroyed one (one had a giant ring etched into the disc surface near the edge!) and take that to EB last night. Got my $44.80 and then bought 2 copies of Beowulf for $35.98 (used the 10% off coupon). I'll trade one back into my local BB and will have to save the other for the one in the next town (that carries a few new games too - will have to see what they have now).

So, anyway, 2 copies is about all I could handle of this - one to each of the closest 2 Blockbuster stores. I just couldn't see taking more credit away from a useful place and putting it into a useless place, even at nearly a 100% profit.

I plan on Kunaiing some copies of Beowulf but I wanted to know if anyone has encountered any problems when buying multiple copies of the same game from GS/EB? The reason being is that sometimes they specify "no dealers/resellers" or something.

What's the safest number of copies I can buy from GS/EB at one time?

Also the wiki doesn't show the trade in value for the PS3 version but I'm guessing its $36?

Tell them you are buying them for your cousins, to donate to children, or both.

Or tell them that they are for your college class next semester where the teacher wants to compare Beowulf the game, the movie, and the book and see the differences.

Be creative, you are smarter than they are.

I thought about it briefly, but didn't think the slight possibility of $17 -> $33 was worth the hassle. I'm sure there's something that trades well though. I doubt any of the Wii games get that much, and many of the 360 games are cheaper ones anyway but BB/GR is always full of surprises and I'm sure there's a good one there somewhere. Probably one of the soccer games I ignored .

I just took one copy of Beowulf along with Gun and Bionicle Heroes in so I could get a printed quote of $59 total ($35/$12/$12). I then traded just Beowulf in for the $35. I'll take my second copy to Gamecrazy along with the other 2 games for their trade-in price match guarantee. That way I win (as in it is somewhere I can actually spend the credit).

I'm going in with just the one. Do they sell it for $19.99 new now too, or have they not caught up yet? I was just wandering, because GC may have a native trade-in value of $33 or so (plus MVP) on it anyway if they haven't adjusted their prices yet. I guess I'll ask first to be sure. Also, I got the printed quote today - I hope they will accept that tomorrow or do you think I should drag myself in there tonight?

Should I unwrap the copies of Beowulf PS3 before trading them in?

Second, are there any other games besides Halo 3 that are good for buying at BB and kunaiing them over to EB/GS?

Would I be able to trade 5 copies of Halo 3 into GS/EB for the extra 360? Or do they all have to be different?

1) I always unwrap them but some people don't. I just figure it raises more suspicion if you trade them in unopened but it really depends on the employees. Also, that way I can swap out the new cases for old ones I have on my own games or from used games I buy. I have a huge stack of new cases for all systems that I can use when I buy a used game somewhere.

2) It is pretty rare to find anything that you can take from GR to EB for even money or better. Halo 3 is a bit of a fluke because GR is selling it for less than usual ($45 instead of $50 or $55) and EB/GS is giving more than usual ($32, was $35, instead of $25 or so) AND has a coupon (the extra 30% - now expired) or promo deal (30% on 5 games - still running).

3) Unfortunately you will most likely have to come up with 4 filler games to trade with each Halo 3, which may not make it worthwhile. Maybe another 30% bonus coupon will pop up. At best you could get away with 2 copies, maybe. 95% of EB/GS stores will let you trade 5 Halo 3's in on that promo.
