Eh, I went in there and handed them my old card and they couldn't find me. They explained how old accounts were recently deleted.
I'd flip out if I all the sudden had Blockbuster on my ass over a $10 late fee that never got paid. I would be shocked if they actually dealt with collections over such a small amount of money, unless they somehow said I owed interest. Now that would be some shit, I'd definitely start screwing Blockbuster over as much and as hard as I possibly could :)

WTF...I went into 3 stores today to try and trade in the 1 copy of Monster Madness I was able to get my hands on and was denied trade in at all three! The cashiers at the first two just responded with lines like "I'm sorry we aren't allowed to take any trades of this game..." I was able to talk with one of the managers at the third store and she said that the stores in the area have received too many copies in trade and that "people" were buying the game online for cheaper that the trade in value. I asked her how many were traded in and she said over 15 copies and they were multiple people that were "turned in" as she put it. I'm sure they just had their accounts banned but she wouldn't divulge specifics.
DAMNIT ...now I have to figure out what to do with this unopened copy of the game seeing as I have no desire to play the game. Has this happened to anyone else?

Just cashed out, ended up with enough to buy a Wii at GS, 1 copy of Halo 3 left over to trade tomorrow, 1600 xbl point card from GR, new copy of mass effect, copy of superbad dvd, $20 blockbuster gift card, and no grief from either GR or GS, other than my own personal shame and a few questions like "You're trading two of the same game?" and "You know you're buying 3 of the same game." Anyway my nearest Gamerush got a crapload of copies of rock band shipped into the store today for all systems. Also they seem to be adding display cases for systems, interesting developments.
BTW fiddle just play the damn thing it only cost 8 bucks and from what I hear is not the worst game ever, probably worthwhile for that price (Beowulf? not so much). Otherwise trade it in or try more blockbusters if you despise the thought of playing it that much.

Yes it has. This same thing happened to me with Meet the Robinsons on Xbox 360 when I went to trade it in at two of my local GR they told me that they had too many of them so they wouldn't let anyone trade copies into their stores so I had to go to a neighborhood BB to trade it in.

why don't you trade it at GS with coupon (30%) + edge? Sure...you'll only get 15 bucks but you'll still make profit nonetheless.

Madden 2008 trades in for 32. You can buy it as Sears by pricematching it from CC with the print mistake for about 19.xx tax included. That's a nice $12 profit.

Finished trading in my MM's, without any problems. But I did find another nice profit item at 1 of the 4 targets I visited tonight. Dynasty Warriors 5 is on clearance for 10, and it gets 19$ at GR/BB, so happy hunting. I also checked the price of Marble Mania (also 10$ at Target), it only fetches 13$ so I decided to keep that one.

You can always tell when trading in a game will become a problem. When this thread grows pages a day for 1 or 2 games, you know it will be flipped like crazy. Then the "I been banned" or "my account is frozen" posts. Seems to happen about once every 3 months. Before you know it we will be back down to about 20 people posting in the thread and the cycle goes on...

Got $28.50 at a BB (apparently I'm allowed to trade there, but the manager didn't even check my ID...) and matched at GameCrazy across the street for two MMs. I picked up DDR Extreme ($13), Harvest Moon Save the Homeland ($7), and Yanya Caballista City Skater ($9) with my earnin's, plus .Hack Infection vol. 1 ($10) and Baten Kaitos: ETatLO (SEALED $18) with credit I had from Beowolf matchin'.
however, I didn't realize YCCS is about $9 NEW on Amazon, and there's a big sticker on the disc...plus, they forgot the actual game disc for .Hack, so they're both getting returned tomorrow. I might keep .Hack if they can provide the actual game disc.
EDIT: Was actually the original Baten Kaitos...I had Origins in duplicate from the K-Mart clearance.

Actually guys I wouldnt worry about getting frozen or banned. I was trading multiple copies but made sure I checked out the website and the trade agreement. So heres what happened in summary
1) went to store to trade (went day before with 2 of each copy of 3 dif games)
2) denied because I traded the same games the day before so I left and went to another BB
3) Went to other BB and told my account had been frozen for trading in multiple copies
4) asked for DM number and called and went back to store that froze me
5) asked why and she beat around the bush basically saying she thought I stole a bunch of games
6) busted out a receipt and she quickly caught on that I was buying them at a large discount
7) contacted her district manager and called me back the next day
8) district manager said that I was following the trade agreement of 2 copies a day of same game and that nothing can be done store level it was a loop hole that I discovered but asked politely not to abuse it
9) I went in and traded today no problems
PS gamestop is only paying like 8 bucks for monster madness when I went. So I guess they adjusted before the 30% coupon based on best buys ad vs BB paying 28$

Thanks, I saw that and I know reviewers said that the 360 had framerate issues, but I haven't seen anything bad yet although I'm only 2/3 thru career because of time constraints and CoD4. The controls are a touch floaty, but not as bad as some others. Unfortunately, I don't have a PS3 yet, but I may build my credit for one. If they ever come out with a WRC 6 I'll definitely get one! Importing the WRC series was the sole reason of me getting onto ebay and it was well worth it. I should take my european WRC 5 into BB and ask for trade in value just to watch them go around in circles.
A little more on topic, XBLA Unplugged is 3.97 at Sears. I thought about buying a couple copies, using the one month live code and trading the games in, but they're not in my GR's computer when I called and not in the wiki. I know it was clearanced in BB's last clearance, but I figured it would still get some sort of value. Anyone know?
My Blockbuster has a used copy for 9.99, so I'd say they aren't worth much TIV.
On a side note, my BB shockingly has a copy of The Guy Game (PS2) for $6.99. I know it's rare, but how rare? Anyone know?

i wound up flipping another 4 copys today, although my secondary GR gave me a bit of a hassel trading the games in. one of the managers was around and when i asked to trade the games up and the cashier pulled up my account he noticed i had traded in 2 copies back on the 16th. he then called his manager over to look at the screen who said she had to call another manager to check it out. so she went into the back and then after about 5 minutes said that they could do the trade, in the process she gave a smart remark of how would i get 4 copies of the same game, since i pretty much felt accused of stealing at that point i bluntly said i got them by paying for them. did my transaction and left. i guess i'll have to lay low on that GR as i'm not wanting to get banned or frozen. although my primary one took the games with no hassel and no questions. i guess it just wasn't my day for managers lol.
on the side note at this point i've traded in 8 copies of MM and still have 4 left. my total credit right now is about $248 dollars. not bad for my first attempt at flipping.

When trading in 2 copies of MM tonight I noticed at my Blockbuster which is not a Gamerush, they had the new Need For Speed for PS3 for $45......yet every other system was at the regular price.
Has anyone else noticed this or did they just have the wrong price on the game?
Well, just found out today even my little podunk town's local Blockbuster is selling that PS3 bundle. Except now they've inflated it to being an over $1000 value (with over $400 in savings!) because they consider the 5 Blu-Ray movies (that you get free with any player) to be worth $150 . And they think the HDMI cable is worth $80 .
Did no trading today but I was shocked that it was easy to rent the Simpson's movie a day late. It seems they had WAY too many copies (still 40-50 left to rent Weds afternoon). (Used a free rental courtesy of Coke Rewards of course).

I might have to check my GR store. I'm trying to figure out what they have in stock that I would be able to convert into cash the easiest. I have $300 (20x$15) in gift cards. I was hoping maybe they would get the Zelda DS bundles in but no go so far. It will also be fun to see the employees freak when I walk in there to make a $300 purchase using 20 gift cards (I could make it 21 if I wanted to use the remaining $40 on my value card from my MM flip).

Man, i feel sorry for the people having trouble. Its amazing how Kunaii has yet to have his trade records pulled. Depending on how far they go back, im sure mine wouldnt look to good either.
Back in the Kuon $8 GS -> $29 Gamerush days, i think i traded over 15. There was one guy who always said "Come to give us more Kuon's?" everytime i came in. I guess its better for him to say that then "sorry, your account has been banned for trading too many of the same game".
The way that I really never got too noticed is that I made sure to see when the person i just traded with is working next. Needless to say, trading 4 games to the same person in two days would raise an eyebrow depending on the person.

Agreed, I think kunai just has had extreme luck in GR trading. I guess some think they can pull of that same sort of craziness but instead are getting banned.
The way that I really never got too noticed is that I made sure to see when the person i just traded with is working next. Needless to say, trading 4 games to the same person in two days would raise an eyebrow depending on the person. I do the exact same thing. With Beowulf I probably traded in 6-7 copies but spread over 4 stores over the course of 3 days. I'd never trade consecutive days to the same employee even though I'm sure that a few of the lax employee's would probably let me trade in 2 at the same time. IMO it's better not to raise suspicion and trade in cautiously.
I went into another store down here and again got denied for MM so it looks like I'll be messing around with it then ebaying or turning it in to GS. A BB employee there reported to me that his store alone received 16 copies in 3 days and 3 individuals got in trouble for each trading in the game multiple times at multiple stores.
People are just greedy or dumb (or both) for this to happen.
I should have known something like this was going to happen when every CC and BB store within a 15 mile radius was cleared out of Monster Madness a few days before the sale. (Its funny I went to a CC store this morning and actually found a few MM back in stock which I am guessing one of the banned BB account kids returned due to them being useless in this whole area now).

You know it all comes down to the store manager, if they seem to be assholes in any way I would just avoid that store. When I was banned it all pointed back to one particular manager, who had always given me the stink eye when I traded. She simply called the DM who banned me at all the GR's in his area for was an accidental flip on my part, I had bought a game earlier in the week and traded it back to the same store. I simply gave her the ammunition that she had been waiting for. I recently opened a trade account at another BB, and was given the third degree by the manager, he was particularly offended by the balance of my edge card. So I purposly keep my balance below 200$ by either preordering games or transferring credit into gift cards.
I've also noticed that by preordering/buying games from a particular store, you gain a certain degree of flexibility. The managers obviously have quota's and you're seen as helping their bottom line.

I have always gone with the spread the games to as many stores as possible route. It was easy as hell when I was consulting because I would just hit whatever store I was near that day. Now if I decide to flip I do it at stores on the commute home. I pass a half dozen stores easy depending on the route I take. It also helps not to try and trade 12 copies of the same freaking game in 2 days. I keep the credit on multiple cards as well so I don't have a single card with hundreds of dollars on it. Basically I never load credit on a card after the initial trade. I end up with a bunch of cards $50-$100, but I just used the credit on games over time...
My flipping days might be limited now since I am moving this weekend and won't have a commute anymore. Its funny how there are only a handful of us here who have been doing this since GR concept was open and haven't had a problem. Only other thing I can say is if you believe you are starting to draw attention at a store lay low and skip the store for awhile. They only thing that almost tripped me up over the years is when employees are transfered...
Local CCs in Greenville, SC were cleaned out of Monster Madness, but I successfully priced matched at Sears. Got it for $3.79+ tax after their 10% of the difference (it's $49.99 there). Now, I'm $28.50 richer at GR.

Where are you located ?
I live in Ohio but I'm down in North Florida visiting in-laws.
Went to go find another store down here to try and trade in this Monster Madness.
Finally I found a BB store that accepted the trade after 30 minutes of calling other stores and checking account numbers. The manager again explained that they had trouble with "that game." He told me 2 people were the main culprits, one person alone traded in 24 MM games over the last 3 days to various stores in the area using different accounts and one other person traded over half that number using one account. He didn't mention anything about a third person.
Anyways he took the trade and told me that one person could only trade in maximum of 2 games of the same title per day to the "blockbuster corporation" regardless of how many stores you go to or however many accounts you use/borrow.
I stopped by that CC on my way back home and grabbed one of the returned copies of MM to trade in. This time I tried to trade it was even more of an ordeal. The manager of this store called the previous one I was at and talked to that manager who now said that I could only trade in one title of the same type per day. After telling the manager there about the trade agreement and finally reading it to her she said "oh" and by this time I didn't want to deal with trading anymore so I said screw it I don't need to trade this in. As I was leaving she said my account is fine but she said that she and the other manager were contacting their corporate DM about the game issue and company trade-ins so that "this wouldn't happen again."
Amazing how some people know how to ruin a good thing, I'm just glad I live down here and don't have to compete with these greedy CAG's all the time.

Credit at Gamestop is $150, more than halfway to a Wii, (do i really 'need' one)
Figure i'll breakdown and take the $6 hit and trade in two more Halo 3's.
Stop at a Blockbuster that I knew had Halo in stock.
Bring two copies up to register. Told the guy i wanted to use value card credit. He asked how much I had on it, told him $130.
HE told me to buy two $50 gift cards, giving me a bonus $10, then use the $50 gift cards to pay for games.
Thanks. I'm nominating him for Employee of the Month.
So I actually got two copies at $43 a piece. Now only down to a $1 hit at gamestop. I'll be up to $236 at gamestop credit.
NICE
Also, one copy had no manual, so I asked them to get one from a different copy. That used copy for sale had a manual but a copy of Halo 1 game in it.
DOH!

Well. I'm off tomorrow to see if I can find 3 more copies of mm; plan to trade 2 at one location and 1 at another. I assume only a minority of you have had trouble trading them at different locations on the same day (w/ 2 or less copies flipped at each location). Wish me luck...
Edit: Just a quick question: after you trade-in 2 copies of the same game at one location and then bring a third to a different one (all GR), is there some sort of automatic system notification bringing your recent trade history to an employees attention (via computer) and a warning that they can't accept the trade, or is the policy entirely dependent on the employee's observation and what they may have or have not been trained to do? And can they even see a recent transaction from a seperate location?

CLEARLY states they will pricematch local retailers online prices. I went in yesterday and was denied a pricematch on MM despite CC having copies in stock online. Pissed me off to all hell, they didn't even know their own PM policy. I'm going tommorow morning to give them hell.
I was semi-denied at Sears trying to PM Monster Madness. After several employees toiled and made up different interpetations of the ad, they finally said that since Sears sells it for $49.99 and CC sells it for $39.99, the only thing they could do is PM it to $39.99 with the 10% difference.
'twas an incredible experience.

Do you guys think that finding a few 60gb PS3s @ 499.99 is warm at all? I know they've been out of production, and I really want a 40gb, but considering the credit that we've been able to rack up it's getting more attractive.
I'd take the 60 GB over the 40 GB in a heartbeat. I never owned a PS2, so now I get to enjoy the huge back catalog of titles I've missed. Even if you do have a PS2, you can pretty much get rid of it if you get the 60 GB PS3.

I decided to cash in a little of my credit at BB. I found a decent condition copy of Graffiti Kingdom $9.99, near mint Metal Slug 4/5 (Xbox) $9.99, and picked up the copy of Wartech Senko No Ronde I traded in for $12 last week for $6.99. :D
Graffiti Kingdom is missing the manual, but I'm gonna go up tomorrow before work and see if the manager I'm friends with can find it.
all trade transactions are listed on your account regarless of the store.
Are you sure about this? I always thought this was NOT the case - each store has it's own history and they need to contact corporate to get any sort of system-wide info (or even your account history past 3 months at their own store).
I certainly have never come up against this before - except for possibly that one time last week when I was getting rid of my last Beowulf and the guy went in the back "to do something" for a while. But then he took the trade no problem.
I'm just wondering because my online shipment from CC just got here today (VERY fast compared to their Black Friday shipment which took 2-3 weeks). So I thought I only had one more MM to get rid of - now I have 5 more .
I went to the best BB near me for finding new stuff at (the only one I know of that sells Wii remotes and points cards in addition to a handful of new games). I noticed they had a Wii Guitar Hero III for sale (along with a PS2 one - no 360). I was very tempted, but even $89.99 in BB credit seems too much for this game (to me - I'm just not into it). I just wish I was able to get more Gamecrazys to follow their own trade-in price match guarantee. I really don't need to take any more of these things to Blockbuster (don't need more credit).
Anyway, on the plus side, I was able to trade a MM and Call of Juarez and get the balance posted to the account and then a $50 scratch-n-sniff gift card generated (with $5 bonus card) with the balance coming from my value card. Nice. So that effectively made the CoJ trade $20 which is worth it ($15 is not so much).

judging from my experiance when i traded in 4 copies at one BB they could only see that i traded in 2 a couple days back, they couldn't or didn't see that i had traded in 2 copies at another game rush about 5 hours earlier. plus each BB i go to they make me sign a new trade agreement because i've never traded at their store before. take that for what its worth

I'm also pretty certain that Slim Gatsby is wrong. I was just in a GameRush trading MM yesterday and the guy looked up my history while we were talking, but he could only see my trades back to October. If he could see my trades at other stores, he surely would have commented on the several other MMs that I've traded elsewhere. ;)

Well, I know this for a fact. Stores have pulled up my history from other stores while I've been there and commented on it. Its probably YMMV, but the fact is they can do it. It was also a non-GR BB.

Anyone have any ideas how to get games pricematched at walmart?
Seems like everytime im there an employee is putting there own spin on there policy trying to get out of matching.
example..monster madness I was told 'we dont price match percentages' .
I try explaining that percentages stands for no price matching a percentage ONLY. Like all games 10% off I cant get anygame I want 10% off.
This particular game is 7.99 with a bragging advertisement that the games are up to 80% off. This is clear isnt it?
Am I wrong?
So, what are the chances we'll see a "Buy 1 used, get one 50% off" sale like Canada's getting right now?

Yeah, this is why bannings and warnings (or so it seems from the stories here) are usually preceeded by a manager calling around to nearby stores. If they knew what was up on your account at the other stores they wouldn't need to do this.

I went last night and got 3 MM's pricematched with no problem. I guess whoever you had doesnt understand the concept of advertisements. As you said, the ad states $7.99, with the "bragging" of up to 80% off. Unfortunately ever since Walmart got rid of its requirement of a Bachelors Degree for all employees, customer service, and overall knowledge has gone down.

All my local stores were out of used copies of Halo 3 (except for one which I bought and traded to GS a couple days ago). Luckily, I'm in GA visiting the in-laws and found a copy at their local store which I also used to move credit to GS. Should be good and ready for the GS b2g1 used sale on the 26th now. By the way, GS opens at 7am on the 26th, so get up early if you want the best selection of used stuff (or buy on the 24th, return, rebuy on 26th).
Anybody else seen Amazon gift cards or iPods poppin' up yet? I think I may have overheard some Blockbuster employees talking about iPods when I was there yesterday, but was in a hurry and didn't ask or look around much.
I just learned that a PS3 version of Monster Madness is in the works, so looks like we may have another MM flipping opportunity later in 2008 when the game bombs and drops in price. =)

To add to this, I was at a BB on Wednesday that had to call another store because there was a hold on my account. It ended up being a late fee that the other store never removed. They removed the amount, but not the hold on my account. Every other BB didn't mention this hold. Furthurmore, they needed to call the store to clarify the reason for the hold.

The stores I frequent are beginning to carry ipod/itunes how to guides, but that is about it. Carrying ipods doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They could be a direct competitor if apple ever starts offering movie downloads from itunes.

They can pull up the other stores info, by doing a name search and importing that account. If you've ever gone to a new BB, and asked them to look you up, they initially do this step, in my case I have two accounts from 2 different stores so it always causes confusion. Especially when I forget which card I'm associated under for a particular store. This often results in me being told my account is not a 'TRADE' account.
I don't think they see you're history however, so no worries.

The same thing happened to me, some dumb middle management woman comes up and immediately tries to find a way out of the PM by saying that they don't match percentage deals. I argue that the 80% is a frame of reference for the value of the deal, but she wants no part of logic and claims that if she "doesn't know how much Circuit City sells it for" she can't give me the PM, I try telling her that's what the big 7.99 tag means, but again...no logic. I was in a bad mood by this point and I let it escalate when she said she wasn't trying to argue with what I was trying to convey. I say that's an absurd thing to say when her point directly contradicts mine, and that if she just doesn't want to give me the PM on the basis of it being too large she should just say so. She tries her best to put the PR spin on it, but without any logic to back her up she fails and I tell her she can't have it both ways (be right without me being wrong) At this point, she storms off and tells the cashier not to give me the PM under any circumstance.
Screw you Wal-Mart of Utica, Michigan. You just lost a customer.
On a semi-related note, has anyone else had trouble trading in MMs to GR? Last night we got denied because the game was on some handwritten list of games not to accept. We would have been able to return it to a non-GR BB not long after that, but due to the cashier actually CALLING the 1st GR to ask about some other thing we were found out and had to take our MMs elsewhere.
That sucks if they aren't taking MM anymore. I was hoping to get 1 or 2 in before next week (assuming they'll adjust the price a lot) but we'll see.
Do you guys trade them in still sealed? I don't even have a 360 so if I get denied I might want to return it.

But be warned, sealed games have :stolen: written all over them! so if they deny you, dont get pissy or anything.... it's bound to happen. (keep the reciept of where you purchased them, and that might usually shut them up if they get stupid for no reasonable reason.)

No problems trading MM in the Indianapolis area. Of course, that could be because all the CCs were either out of stock before the ad even came out or within 24 hours of it coming out, which left PMing as the only way to get MMs.
I ended up with four from two trips to my local Wal-Mart, which had at least a dozen. First two were no problem, but much like Torch, it took forever for me to get through to the second CSR that the price on that row of games in the ad was a flat $7.99. I ended up just covering up the "up to 80% off" with my fingers and asking her if the price was clearer. She mumbled about "CC doing this just to tag us with a loss", but finally rang me up.
Wal-Marts in Indianapolis are brimming with MMs, but at this point it's not worth it to me to try to pick up any more. I'll just hole up and play games this weekend.

Same thing happened to me at Meijer's on Sunday, the thing is she talked to four other employees and they all said the same thing, we don't match % and it's 80% off. Then I told them I wasn't asking for a percentage because Meijers sells it for 50 so 80% off would be 10 and I want it for 7.99.
Then she repeated WE CAN'T MATCH IT BECAUSE THEY SELL IT FOR 39.99 REGULARLY AND WE SELL IT FOR 49.99!!
So I said why don't you match there 39.99 regular price and then match the 7.99 sales price, and she repeated that they couldn't match it because the regular prices were different.
The irony that she couldn't match the price was totally lost on here.

My guess for the main reason why they dont want to pricematch this game is that their wholesale prices were probably a lot more than $4-$8. But still, i'd tell them "Hey, I didnt make the policy, take it up with corporate if you got a problem with it". That'll probably throw them off guard (as usually thats the line that the employees would say to the customer)
I'll be getting rid of my last 3 copies tomorrow. Last weekend before christmas, I dont wanna be anywhere near a mall. I'd say I came out pretty good though. Not as lucky as Kunai, but im sitting on almost $700 credit with only around $180 spent. Calmly awaiting those Amazon gift cards.

Anyone having trouble purchasing MM at Sears? Specifically, the game is "Available" at certain stores online but are nowhere to be found on the floor. I had this happen at the Mall of Orange and Cerritos Mall today. I think they might be pulling copies because of the price match. Any games we should keep our eyes on as a replacement for Beowulf? I'm personally looking at "The Golden Compass" for 360 and PS3. It's already fallen twenty bucks in a couple of weeks.
Well, I shake my head even more in disbelief at djkunai's massive flipping after my experience tonight. Pardon me while I vent some frustrations...
I went out with some MM and CoJ. I have only traded one MM at my local store to this point. First I tried yet another Gamecrazy for the trade-in price match. The guy there said they give the best trade-ins of any used game store so he's "almost sure" their prices will be better. I said "OK, but will you price match a specific receipt"? He said probably, but he'd have to see the trade-in values first. So I said "either you have a price match guarantee or you don't". He said "I guess we don't".. So that makes 1 GC that matched and 3 that have no idea what I'm talking about. I definitely don't want to do more than 1 of the same game at the good GC because they have been really cool this last year (ever since my GR closed and I started going there more often).
Then I went to the "good" Blockbuster (second closest to me) that sells new games and gave me the gift cards with my trades last time (turns out it was the store manager who did that too!). I remember them not caring one whit that I had a 360 and PS3 version of Beowulf to trade at the time. Well, she's not there, but another person brings up my account and there is a note not to trade and that I need to talk to the store manager. They told me they have no idea what happened but that I could talk to her on Sunday.
OK, so I headed a ways away to one of the other stores where I traded a single 360 and single PS3 Beowulf last week. I had never traded at all at this store before, and they had a note from the DM on my account there saying because I traded the same game at 3 stores I couldn't trade any more. Ruh-roh! Of course, I didn't bother trying the 3rd store. I think that 3rd store may be where the trouble started and it was all because of my damn chattiness with the clerk. This was a store where I hadn't traded in 1 1/2 years and my account wasn't active so he signed me back up. During that I made a stupid comment that I had the same problem at another store and he started asking me funny questions after that (like did the other store refuse my trades, etc). Like an idiot I made it worse and told him which store it was. So he must have taken it upon himself to check over there and found out I traded the same 2 games earlier and punted it up to the DM. Either that, or some system-wide message went out to be on the lookout for Beowulf trades. But if that was the case, I'd expect a lot more CAG's to be banned.
So, anyway, in this district I traded 3 copies of 360 and 3 copies of the PS3 version to 3 different stores (1 each of each sytem to each store only). At the second store the store manager came out and talked to me. I asked him about the trade agreement (2 copies per day) and he said he didn't know about that but that they have the right to stop the agreement at any time. And yes, I'm aware of that, but you'd think there might be more of a reason than that. I was pretty pissed at this time (not outwardly, but seething inside ;)) so I just left. I guess I should have got the DM's number so I could call to see if he thinks I was trading stolen games (and thus I could show the receipts to prove otherwise). But I'm not even sure it is worth bothering with. 2 of the 3 stores I hadn't been to in ages and I can do without them. I had been getting tired of the driving around thing anyway, and MM was to be my last trade there. However, I would like to be able to trade at the store with the new stuff. So maybe I'll call the store manager there on Sunday and see what she says.
I'm also hoping my local store is OK as I think it is in a different district. I traded a MM there several days after the Beowulf thing and had no problem. I'd like to check but I don't want to ask and I don't want to trade another MM in order to find out either!
Anyway, looking at my receipts, I traded the 360/PS3 Beowulf at one of the three stores 1 day, then at the other two 3 days later. So, I was still following the trade agreement even if you make it 2 copies per day district-wide (or country-wide for that matter). I did 2 360 and 2 PS3 copies in that one day, and that is all.
My luck turned a bit better when I hit an even further away Gamecrazy. This guy knew about their trade-in price-match guarantee (whoo-hoo, finally!). He also called the store, so while he had them on the phone I had him ask about Red Steel, too, which wasn't on my printed quote. Not only did he match all 3 games (MM, CoJ, RS), but he gave me the MVP boost on top. Then he commented on how clueless the Blockbuster employee was about the games . So the night ended on a good note, anyway (and I was able to get rid of the 3 games I had unsealed!).
I knew this was a possibility from the reports here on CAG. But just add this to the reasons to dislike Blockbuster. I've made this comment before when others have been banned (when it wasn't from blatant store-to-store flipping). I NEVER EVER feel "wrong" taking the same game into multiple Gamecrazy's or EB/GS stores. Yet, BB has infused in us anxiety over our trades. I did nothing wrong according to the trade agreement, yet always had to "be careful". Hey, it would be fine if there was a note saying not to take any more Beowulf from this guy. I'd expect that. Anyway, I would say I knew I was pushing it with the same game from 2 systems and that may have tipped someone off (to what, I don't know ;)). I had never traded multiples or multi-system games before like that, so just be careful guys - unless you are djkunai, that is, who gets managers to suggest he buy the used copies back and flip them right around for massive profit (note I never did ANYTHING like this!).
Anyway, enough... I was going to stop trading anyway as the credit is damn near useless. So I guess this makes it easier. I'd still like to be able to do the occasional trade at my local store, though, so we'll see how that goes.
I do wish I had bought some Halo 3's during the last EB/GS 30% bonus promo (didn't use it at all this time) - even at a slight loss I wish I had transferred more credit over! D'oh!
I think we all knew this could happen. And as everyone knows these stores that take trades reserve the right to reject trades at their own discretion. Thus. the reasoning behind staying under the radar. If I was the DM in the area I would let you continue to trade just to find out what trade prices need to be adjusted by corporate. So on another note, maybe take someone with when you talk to them. (video or tape of them accussing you of stealing the games) If any cags get accussed of this I gotta say glitter and mag racks! I don't have this problem as there are no gr stores in my area. Sucks for you though. Best case is you may get to trade still but they will be watching.
added:This thread is gonna get really big now.

I'm still having a hard time believing this part, especially on top of all of his other unusually good luck flipping. The GR managers I've dealt with are generally on the lookout for people "taking advantage of the system." I've learned to keep a low profile and avoid drawing attention to my trading habits, and even then I'm starting to get some questions. GR managers must not give a damn out on the West Coast or wherever he is.
I got rid of my last MM Friday night, for a total of 7 traded at 7 different locations. It would have been 8, but one of my non-GR Blockbusters is closing soon and won't take any more trades. I got most of them (including one that I kept) at several Sears stores, and nobody gave me any trouble with price matching. Two Sears locations even let me get two copies each, though I think it was because the managers were distracted and didn't even look at what they were approving.
Edit: I saw Golden Compass, and it wasn't all that great from an adult perspective. Kids will probably enjoy it, though.

I dont like to have credit on the blockbuster system, especially when I am trading lots of copies of the same game into multiple stores.
Credit in, credit out.
Seems that SoCal GR/BB Managers seem more "relaxed" about trades though.

But see, I've always done that too - it isn't enough, I guess, if the right circumstances conspire against you. Anyway, I need to wait till Sunday and talk to the store manager at the first store and see if there's more behind this.
Once again, though, I would say there's no way I'd worry about such things at GC or EB/GS. This is peculiar to Blockbuster.

I feel your pain! I am banned at every store within 30 miles of my house! I'm in Buffalo, NY. and I now have the same note on my account as you do. In fact it's worse with me cause I was called "suspicious" and a voice mail was left at every bb location about me, WTF! I did the same thing as everyone else with the trade ins of Beowulf, I managed to dump 8 at BB. They wouldn't even let me use my "value cards" at the one store. Thank god I have a friend at the one store that took the note off my account at his store.
I even emailed corporate as I encourage you and everyone else to do. It's Complete BS, cause ya I now feel like I'm being watched when I go into any BB now. Corporate sent me an apology email and said they would look into the situation and get back to me in 3-5 days. I doubt they clear my account but I even emailed them my reciept and said this is wrong what they did to me.
So ya I feel like a wanted criminal now for trading purchased games into a store that excepts trades.
Infact it's so cool doing this that, I won't be stopping anytime soon. Just know your not alone and GOOD LUCK getting your account cleared.
Best wishes and Merry Xmas!
ps. find a friend that works at BB and take advantage of his %20 discount on used games :)

Was able to pick up 4 :360: MM and 1 :wii: Red Steel at Sears. Less than $22 will become ~$136. :D
Now I just gotta decide if I want to buy a :360: or not. My main BB/GR just got a shipment in this week it seems. I wish they had slim PSPs, at least there are a few games I actually want to play on that system.

Anyone having trouble purchasing MM at Sears? Specifically, the game is "Available" at certain stores online but are nowhere to be found on the floor. I had this happen at the Mall of Orange and Cerritos Mall today. I think they might be pulling copies because of the price match. I almost had four copies of MM yesterday at Cerritos but they only let me get one.
I PMed and purchased both copies my Sears had. After the 110% PM discount I got both for close to $10. I took the ad in and said "You guys have a price match guarantee right?" The guy in electronics said "yes, as long as it's not some sort of deal that requires you to sign up for a credit card." so I told him I wanted to PM a game. He got the keys and opened the game case. I asked him to grab both copies of MM he said something like "One for you and one for a friend?" I showed him the ad and he froze for a second. He then told me it would be no problem but he had to check the internet price (I would've tried to PM the Madden 08 error price if it wasn't for this). He went to the back, came back out, and told me he would do it he just needed to get a manager to approve the transaction.
After I made my purchase the guy said "Wow that was a really good deal. Do you mind if I keep the ad? I want to see if there's anything else I can find."
I let him keep the ad and went right over to GR to trade in my two copies.

I think djkunai should scan a copy of his receipt for us to see. I want to see what it looks like when he trades all of those games in (especially the one where he raped GR with those copies for 1k in credit). Any chance you can do this, kunai? Proof would be great. :D
And yes, if you guys find any other great deals, let us know!
EDIT: Oh, and does anyone know the perks of working at Blockbuster? I'm considering trying to get a job there this Spring, so if you could share with me that info, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The only things I know of from a friend is:
You get 5 free rentals a week that can used on Games or Movies but you can't rent a title that is just released Game wise you have to wait like three weeks to rent it for free. One good thing about the free rentals is that you actually get to rent new Movie Releases a week before they come out on DVD.
Your employee discount is 20% off which can be used on almost anything in the store. Sometimes you can get 30% off certain things like for December employees get 30% off any Previously Viewed Movies/Used Video Games.
The main thing I like is that you can use your discount at any location as long as you have a check stub showing that you are an employee of Blockbuster/Gamerush.

All of these reports of people getting banned for MM and Beowulf trade ins is exactly why I only did 2 copies at my local. Even trading in 2 copies the employee looked at me funny and made some comment like "Hmm two copies of the same game?" I had just bought them from the Sears across the street and opened them in the car. I was ready to whip out the reciept if they wanted to give me crap about them being stolen.
I was afraid if I hunted down several copies of this game in my area they would not let me trade them in and I'd get stuck with them.
BTW: Has anyone that's traded in these games in the Kansas City area gotten any flack for it?

Damn sucks to see io banned you were one of the original GRers.... You should go talk to them personally and be sure to drag all your kids in with you. Maybe have them all carry a DS or any system you have multiples of and be like THIS is why I got multiples! :D Good luck though....
Haha I like how everyone is calling out dj, I stopped believing most of his posts just about the time someone started refering to flipping as kunaiing. It was already hard to believe but then it just started getting stupid. Like i've said before if it's true and you've got the time/stores that let you do it then more power to you but it's not true. If you gonna post a receipt post the one your most proudest of the pile of Beowulf purchases and then flipped all back in during the same visit that the manager encouraged you to do. If i'm wrong i'll be the first to say i'm sorry for doubting you....

I know dj kunai personally and all I can say that everything he has said is true. There is a GR by our college that we both go to frequently and the employees there are really nice (as long as you're not doing anything illegal), and for the most part they know what we are doing, that's why we haven't got banned or have our accounts frozen. And about him going to different GRs and being able to trade in more things, I think it's the way that he communicates and approaches the employees. He doesn't act suspicious at all.
On that note. I went to a different GR last week to trade in my last run of MM and they denied me saying that they didn't have a buyback price. I went to a different one by house and they told me that there was a note on my account stating that there has been several phone calls about me, that it was a possibility that the games were stolen. I asked her about the phone calls. She told me not to worry that several people have that note on their accounts because someone actually did break in to BBV/GR to steal games to trade them in. Well, i gave her my story and acted calm about it. She was really nice and accepted my last few MMs.
Anyways, Christmas party tonight. I heard dj kunai will be sharing his wealth by giving out video games at the party...
Well, I can only HOPE that they think the issue is stolen games, because I can clear that up easily. If it is really because I "traded the same 3 games into 3 different stores" (as the one person read off the note on the account) then, well, that's kind of a random thing and nothing I can do about that. Though I don't remember that being in the trade agreement as a restriction ;).
My one hope is that at the "main" store (ie, the best one) the note simply said to see the manager, and didn't have any other info. So maybe she is waiting to talk with me and clear things up. Then perhaps the DM sent the note out to the other stores near there not to trade in the mean time.
I'm worried that my local store has the note as well. I went in there to rent something the other day and the guy (an old GR employee who knows me well) took a long look at the screen before processing my rentals. He didn't say anything though - but then I guess he probably would avoid the issue if I wasn't trying to trade. I don't care that much about the other 3 stores, but I am curious about my local one. I have to figure out a way to find out...

That is a bunch of crap. Your trades are being put on hold because you traded in a single copy of the same game to three different stores?
That is complete bullshit. You're not even some ass about it--you actually trade in stuff you actually played and just want to get rid of. Its not like you've always only traded in flippers.
I've never had anyone try to reject a trade in once, except one time when I walked into Game Crazy with a pile of 15 or 20 games...most of which were still sealed. I actually got through the whole stack, getting a price on each one, before the manager walked out and flipped out saying it could be stolen merch. I went in the next day with the games I wanted to trade in, and the same manager took them all no problem lol

I remember that they dropped the used price on the Xbox to $59.99 a while back, and I was wondering if the Cube had dropped as well. Used gamecube is still 60 bucks. Although I can double check tomorrow. I think it's kind of funny hearing all these people getting their accounts banned and such because honestly most employees are clueless. If you go to a regular Blockbuster you'll have a much better chance of trading in multiple titles of the same game with no problem.
My gf bought a bunch of copies of Beowulf and traded them at the Blockbuster she works at (regular one, not game rush) and the store manager was the one who traded in 9 of her copies. Then she put it on a giftcard and bought a Wii at my store.
Just shocked to hear people get caught.
I think everyone following this thread believes that kunai can do all the flips he has done. However as this is the internet everyone is skeptical. How about posting some of those reciepts? Do this and cag can make this front page material. Kunai will be a Cag legend with proof.

Thanks, but that's not necessary. I think I'm just going to get one at GS for $30 - my GR credit averages out to less than .50 to the dollar, but not that much less, so I'll only pay a little more at GS in cash than I would at GR with credit. I'll just save the GR credit for new release games and such.

Um, dude, my trades are ALL at regular Blockbusters as there are no GR around here any more. I understand what you are saying. But on the flip side, regular BB's get so few game trades that one person can stand out.
But 9 copies and the manager did it! Man, if they hold to this ban I'll be pretty pissed to know that . I'm anxious to call the store manager tomorrow and see what she says. Hopefully it is just a flag for possible theft and with my explanation/receipts I can clear that up. If they truly didn't like someone trading in 3 sets (one 360, one PS3 Beowulf) at 3 different stores then I can just say I had no idea as the trade agreement allows it. I can pledge never to do anything like that again and just trade at the one store. that's fine with me at this point as I really don't need/can't use any more credit anyway.

I only have blockbusters and i've never had a problem before. I know I traded in like 12 copies of Dungeon Siege for PSP when i was snagging it for $5 and getting $22 for it. I told manager what i was doing and showed him reciept.
After all its perfectly legal. Only thing he had me do was trade in 2 a day to his store and he asked me to take 6 of the copies to another store so he wouldn't have to many gathering dust.
Was only able to trade in 4 copies of MM due to all the stores here being sold out and sears closing but just traded 2 each to 2 different stores and they had no issues. So i guess it depends on the employees.
Well, I talked to the manager at the first store today. She said she had to talk to her DM about letting me trade again and couldn't do that until after Christmas. She said they thought trading Beowulf into "3 or 4 stores" was "fishy". I said I had receipts for the games and welcomed the DM to call me at home if there is anything that needs to be cleared up.
I believe this is the same DM that was the DM of the old Gamerush store and she has cleared up issues for me before (like the lost Zelda and FF XII preorders). Though, on the other hand, she is the one who sent the ban out to the other stores (as far as I can figure). So hopefully it will be cleared up. I didn't even get to the bit about the 2 copies/day thing in the trade agreement (which, after all, is the only restriction I would be aware of unless they told me otherwise - which they didn't). I was willing to offer only trading one of a game in the future (across all stores) if that's what it took - I'd just want a chance to be able to abide by the rule that I wasn't aware of. But I'm not sure it even needs to go that far - it appears it was just a knee-jerk concern over stolen games (ie, that the games were stolen from somewhere else and traded into BB). Of course, that is easily enough cleared up with my Gamestop and Best Buy receipts.

Anyone notice if Blockbuster's sale price for Monster Madness dropped (to indicate its trade value will be dropping on Tuesday?) I've got one left so I'm wondering if I need to Io it * on Christmas Eve or if its safe to hold on to it till next weekend. And Blockbusters seem to be open on Xmas Day, if that's of interest.
*We use the term "kunaiing" for trading in many copies, so maybe we should use the term "Io-ing" for trading in only 1 or 2 copies :)
Honestly if they tried to ban me i'd tell them to either shut up and call the police or give me service. I'd seriously report them to the consumers general because they cannot accuse you of stealing and ban you from stores with no proof.
Let's clear a few things up here. No one actually ever directly accused me of stealing and trading in games. At the second store where they had the note about me trading games (other ones than the ones I had with me at the time) in to 3 stores, that was all they read back to me. I tried to press them a little more for an actual reason, since that didn't seem like enough. The store manager came out and I asked him why that was a problem. He just said it was the DM's decision and there was nothing he could do about it. When I mentioned the 2/day allowance in the trade agreement he just said they also have the right to change the terms at any time. At that point there wasn't much use arguing any further about it. I figured I would deal with the "better" store (I have no need to go back to the other one again, anyway). So today I called the manager of the "better" store - the note on my account there just said I needed to talk to her. So today she said she needed to talk to the DM to reopen my trade account. At that point I brought up the issue of whether they thought they were stolen and she said that was the issue. I said I have all the receipts and can fax them in if she wants. I saw no need to go ballistic on anyone as that would only make things worse. I am more interested in clearing this up more for my reputation than for any future desire to trade - because I think the stealing is implied in the messages to the stores (if not stated outright and they just didn't read that part to me). I don't want to go in there even if I am just renting and have that be read by the clerk. It is completely uncalled for whether implied or explicit, or even if it just says "trading is fishy".
rcaido, I'm not sure where you got that idea (not being able to use the value card) but as far as I know I'm still able to use my credit. I think someone else said one store told him they wouldn't let him buy anything there. I'm not sure if I'd want to, though, to be honest. They get credit for sales at their store (I remember the GR manager telling me they all got a bonus the month they had that big game clearance a few years ago because of the big increase in sales). If they don't lift this I'd want to go to stores in another district anyway and not let the jerkwads have my credit back. Or I'll just rely on CAG's to pick me up stuff at GR stores ;).
I do want to go in to a store where I don't have an account, though, and check the value of the gift card I had generated from one of my Beowulf trade-ins - just to be sure...

They'll sometimes ask if you have a card you want to use so they can link your purchases to your account for if you are buying a used game and don't want to save your receipt or something. Most of my purchases are non-member when you look at the receipt or something like that I don't have one in front of me right now.

Let's clear a few things up here. No one actually ever accused me of stealing and trading in games.
I do want to go in to a store where I don't have an account, though, and check the value of the gift card I had generated from one of my Beowulf trade-ins - just to be sure...
io, I reread the trade agreement. It does say that Blockbuster may change terms at any time, including canceling the program. But the agreement seems to term the changes as changes to the overall program, not to specific individual traders
io, I reread the trade agreement. It does say that Blockbuster may change terms at any time, including canceling the program. But the agreement seems to term the changes as changes to the overall program, not to specific individual traders
Exactly! I was just re-reading it a few minutes ago and thought the same thing. Like, they could up and cancel all game trade-ins one day.
The only leeway they seem to have with individuals is part 5:
DVD and game software titles, game hardware platforms, and other products eligible for trade will be determined by Blockbuster in its sole discretion and many vary from store to store. Blockbuster may elect not to accept a particular title (including game software titles for a particular game platform) or an individual copy of a particular title, a brand of game hardware unit or any individual unit, or other product for any reason, including, without limitation, suitability of title for resale by Blockbuster, inventory needs, or the condition of any individual product or packaging.
To ME, that all implies they can reject any PARTICULAR trade for any reason. So not accepting GBA games, or anything from a particular list of games, etc, all falls under that clause. For example, if I had tried to bring in more Beowulf, they could reject it at their "sole discretion". I'm sure a manager wanting to use this to justify banning could say they "elected not to accept ANY title" from me, in particular - which is a pretty twisted way of reading that clause ;).
Then again it says "all trades are final" (section 8), but I had the GR manager "adjust" a trade I signed off on once (after the fact and without telling me) to reduce my credit by $15. So they don't follow their own damn rules anyway.

Happy dump day and merry xmas eve!
I'm up near Bakersfield for the next two days, and the only thing by here is a K-Mart without any clearanced games. No kunai'ing for me until Wednesday (for which I have a new plan to execute once I'm back in LA).

They have the right to refuse service to you at any time just like any business. It's YMMV on whether or not they refuse you service obviously. There is a huge difference between Kunai's BBV employees and IO's obviously.
Sucks to be targeted like that. Your best bet is to be as nice as possible, explain that you didn't understand that was a problem, promise you'll never do it again, yadda yadda yadda.
You can complain to the BBB or the Attorney General in your state, explaining the terms of the agreement, how you didn't violate them, and how you feel you are being treated unfairly. I have had success before complaining to the Attorney General about Buy.com.

I've called 2 GRs near me and they said they had it in their system, but have no idea if/when they would be getting any. Also, both GRs are selling the 80GB Motostorm bundle ($499), not the BB Bundle for $599

I asked the guy at my GR store if they had any Wii's (I figured that would be the best way to convert my GR credit and gift cards into cash). He told me they were expecting to get 11 the previous Tuesday but only got 3. Seems they're trickling in very slowly there.

Yeah to sell the hottest items on Amazon you had to sign up as a preferred seller or something like that. I'm not sure when the had the sign ups or what you had to do to qualify.

Why is that no one has checked Monster Madness? You know, some of us were only able to get rid of a few copies and still have some left because we have to be VERY careful how we trade them in ;) (and can't dump 4 or 5 at once, let alone 24 of them).
And no, I ain't calling because I don't need any of those people to have any more reason to ban me. So I'd appreciate someone checking for me! I may try another Gamecrazy price match if it is still holding.

I stopped at a number of Blockbuster stores today and had one particular store reject one of my Madden '06 games (for 360). The employee stated that the computer had a note (probably originating from the store manager) that the game was not to be accepted in their store because they've already got too many. All the other Blockbuster stores were willing to take the game, though. . . so I suspect you need to take that HoV game to another BB.
By the way, today I got just enough credit to cover the cost of the PS3 system I've had my eye on for the past couple weeks. I think I got the last 60 gig (fully backward compatible) PS3 in my region, so I'm pretty much feeling exhilarated! I still will have another couple hundred dollars in credit once I finish trading in my last few "The Darkness" and "Madden '06" games (got them with the Gamestop 'Buy 2 get one free' deal). I'll soon be getting Resistance and Warhawk, as well as Motorstorm-- all of which will make owning a PS3 a great experience.
I kinda got brave on the last few stores I stopped in at and was handing over two Darkness games at a time. No one balked at it, and I usually said something about having more than one of the games because of a buy 2 deal at a gamestore in the area. Now I'm in the kunaiing club. ;)
Here are the values I'm getting at Blockbuster:
The Darkness: $32 (360), $33 (PS3)
Madden '06: $8
All in all, this was a great day.

Started out with $210 in GS credit and I now have almost $450 in BB/GR credit. Strangely, I didn't have any problems whatsoever trading in multiple copies of Darkness (both PS3 and 360) or Madden 06. I tried to vary the titles I brought in order to avoid suspicion. I usually brought one of each copy (Darkness-PS3/360, Hour of Victory, Madden 06) in order to add some variety. Actually, the only trouble I had today came from a rather ignorant GS store manager and a csr.
Specifically, the GS in Whitwood Center (Whittier, CA) would not let me purchase more than 2 copies of the same game (I had six copies of Darkness on 360 and three copies of Madden 06 on 360). They said that I would placing a serious dent on their selection. This, despite the fact that there were still ten or more copies of Darkness on the wall, and who the fuck actually buys Madden 06 anymore? I was also trying to purchase CoD2 for the 360, Pikmin on GC, and LoZWW for GC as well. The CSR informed me of this "corperate wide policy", and when I told him that I have purchased more than 2 copies of the same game at a one time from other stores, he offered a rebuttal by saying that they were breaking policy. Policy my fuck ing ass. He then places a call to his store manager who confirms the policy. Needless to say, I placed $132 (after B2G1 and EDGE) worth of merchandise on the counter and left. Did I forget to mention that this was after I had been waiting more than 20-30 minutes in line? Let's not forget all the CSRs who were floating around (a couple who saw the games I was purchasing, including multiple copies) and did not inform me of Whitwood Center GS's "corperate-wide policy".
In the end, I am fortunate enough to have numerous GS stores in close proximity so I did manage to get what I was looking for. As for that "corperate-wide policy", I purchased three copies of Darkness and Madden 06 at three other GSs with absolutely no problems whatsoever. So much being "corperate-wide". If by random chance, either that CSR or store manager happens to be reading this, I'm contacting whoever is your boss at GS corperate and complaining. For wasting my time and energy, you can kiss my fuck ing ass the next time I come in because I'm bringing every single reciept which shows that YES, you can purchase more than two copies of the same game at one time.:booty:
Wow, that was a really pathetic store manager you had there. The first Gamestop I went to this morning gave me no problems when I placed 10 Darkness games (plus a couple other games) on their counter. Later I found a Gamestop with Madden '06 out the wazoo and bought 6 of 'em without getting questioned.
By the way, the funds for all these purchases came from all the Halo 3's I brought over from Blockbuster last week-- my Edge card was up to $350 when I showed up this morning, and now it's down to about $50. Soon I will pick up more games to trade to Blockbuster with the remaining credit, but I'm going to lie low for a few days. . .
Steve
Well, I was able to trade in (1) DOAX2 and (1) MM for a total of $47.50 at a Gamecrazy and after nearly an hour wasn't able to take the credit with me (but should get it tomorrow - we'll see).
Here's the story:
1) First I called to make sure they price match and how they do it (ie, call the store) since I didn't have a recent trade slip from Blockbuster. They say yes - so far so good.
2) I went in and the guy I talked to is there - again, good! So I ask him to check on those 2 games plus Forza 2. He calls Blockbuster and is put on hold and disconnected twice (I repeat - screw Blockbuster!). Finally someone talks to him and tells him she's too busy to look up prices and he'd have to come in to see what they are . Wonderful...
3) He looks up another store and in less than a minute has all the expected quotes for BB trade-in values ($19, $28.50, $32). At this point I was very pleased with this GC dude as he was on the ball - it went downhill from there though...
4) So next he calls his manager because those prices are so high (once again, I asked, just to myself this time, "either you have a trade-in price match policy or you don't - WTF!?").
5) After about 5 minutes on the phone they decide the first 2 are OK (barely) but that they can only give me $22.50 for Forza instead of $32, so I kept that.
6) So he processes the trade and tries to put it on my GC gift card. Apparently he does this as a new gift card and not a reload even though I took it out of my wallet in front of him and asked if he could put it on there (he was too busy trying to sell me preorders I guess :bomb:).
7) This results in an error that he spends 15 minutes trying to fix.
8) Finally he gives up and calls the GC gift card customer service number. After 15 minutes on hold he is told he needs to call another number.
9) After 15 minutes on hold AGAIN, he is told he needs to call back in the AM. So he writes down my card number and claims he will fix it in the morning. I can't wait to NOT hear anything from him (I asked him to call when he was done - not expecting to hear anything).
Meanwhile I had my 3 kids with me and they were getting anxious (hungry, had to use the bathroom, etc). We missed being able to go to dinner where we wanted because this took at least 45 minutes longer than it should have. And we had to use the gross bathroom at the Safeway next door to GC.
Was all of this worth it to turn $15.50 into $47 in GC credit (that I don't have and may never get)? Oh, I also drove 20 minutes out of the way to get to this store... So all in all, it was probably not worth it.
Anyway, I updated the wiki with the current Blockbuster trade-in prices from the last few pages. The amount of heavy-duty credit building is starting to become a bit ridiculous here though. In the olden days we only did this to build up credit for our own games ;). You darn kids and your darn loud music and flippin!

QFT^. same thing happened to me. I can't believe some things I have missed like the $8 Monster Madness game and etc...
I checked with my local BB/GR store and Forza 2 is still going for $32 trade-in.
But, a word of warning, the manager (who usually gives me the scoop) said a message was sent out systemwide to no longer take the "pack-in" version of Forza 2 so don't be surprised if you get shot down without the full version cover art.
BTW, I really lucked out at a Gamestop store where they were giving away the Forza 2/MUA pack-ins with certain pre-orders. As a somewhat regular at their store, they just handed me one when I asked (expecting to pay $19.99 used or whatever it is)!

are you serious? That doesn't make any sense. I would gladly give the $5 for a pre-order (regardless of game) just to take the pack-in.

Well, I printed out cover art for Forza 2...so hopefully that flies. I'll just say my daughter destroyed the original cover art....should work as long as the UPC scans, which it should.
Also, anyone ever trade in WARHAWK? Curious if I can trade it in as the case says No for Retail Sale....or something like that.

Well it felt kinda weird paying full price for a game but I went to GR today and picked up Super Mario Galaxy. In real dollars I actually paid about $10 for it thanks to Sears PMing and MM for the 360.

Yeah, I was kind of suprised too. I don't know the whole story so I might not be accurate in what exactly they were giving it out with and I think it was just this one store that was doing it.
Oh well, I'm not going to question it. :)

I think most CAGs will agree that GameRush credit isn't considered "real dollars" and you didn't pay full price, but a fraction thereof.

You're right. I only actually paid $10 for Mario Galaxy but it was just a strange feeling as a CAG taking a game to the register and buying it when it rings up full retail price ($49.99).

Yes, they do take games without covers. It's just that I was told that a message went out systemwide to not take Forza 2/MUA pack-ins. So I think if you don't have a retail cover for one of those games, they may question it.
I actually was still successful at a different BB for trading in Forza 2 without a cover. I don't really feel too bad because the retail version is heading my way from the GameFly clearance (this was before I knew that EB was selling -- or in my case giving away -- the pack-ins).

No-one knows, but I'm guessing it'll hold. After all, it took them two weeks to finally drop Beowulf after it had been on sale 19.99 everywhere, and they have not dropped Monster Madness despite probably hundreds of copies of it being traded in over the last week. Two Worlds hasn't had a huge retail price drop anywhere so as far as GR is concerned, its still a recent, "big" 360 game.

You don't need the covers for games, only movies. Some stores are confused about this, so ask them to check with a manager if they question the trade.

Thanks for the advice, and you were right. I took Hour of Victory (X360) to a different Blockbuster (non GameRush store) and they took the trade for $32.00.
Also did what others are recommending and traded in Marvel Ultimate Alliance (X360) for $15 and Forza2 for $32. Then went to EBGames and picked up the MUA/Forza2 pack for $19 using the B2G1 deal on used games to also get 2 other games.
This thread has been really helpful.

Well, I just found out that Madden 06 is $3.99 so if this still trades for 8 at BB/GR that is double your money.
So B2G1 sale:
$3.99 * 2 = $7.98
$7.98 / 3 = $2.66
This isn't even including if you were to use an Edge Card to get an extra 10% off. So that would be 79 cents off of the original price to make it $7.19.
$3.99 * 2 = $7.98 - .79 (10%) = $7.19
$7.19 / 3 = $2.40
So basically for 8 bucks you can get $24 in store credit.
The only thing that sucks about this is that most of my local stores won't let me stack credit on a Value Card so I would have to stack credit onto my account. I think that I might finally go ahead and start a new account by myself at my local store since you can secure an account with a debit card now. The main account I'm on now is with my girlfriend so this would at least give me two accounts to trade on instead just hers.

that's precisely what I want to know. I have the game but the case is kinda broken...other than that I have the manuals and everything. The cover art for the pack in doesn't have a bar code so I really don't know what's going to happen. If all else fails I'll just play the ignorance card and innocently question why I can't trade in the two games that came with my 360.
I went to cdcovers.cc and printed out covers for both when I traded them in. However, they do except trades without cover art, they just look them up by name in the system. Just don't trade it in it's current form :)

Tell them to pull out a copy of the trade agreement. On the back of the agreement, #10 states "The member may elect to if the store credit amount is $5 or more, apply the store credit to a Blockbuster Value Card".
After they read that, see what they say.

Not a problem at all, they just scanned the barcodes. Have a "story" ready just in case they ask (i.e. you bought them used and they didn't have covers, your dog ate them, etc.).
