I went to cdcovers.cc and printed out covers for both when I traded them in. However, they do except trades without cover art, they just look them up by name in the system. Just don't trade it in it's current form :)

Checked with BB/GR. No, they don't take Wii Play at all (even with remote). Apparently, they were having problems with it (some with/without remote) so it was taken out of the system completely.

I wonder if that is the same with WARHAWK since it includes a headset....I'm assuming no one has ever traded that in.

The GameFly sale has great potential (ie: 24 copies of Two Worlds for $10.81 after tax into $32 credit). Apparently I ordered so many copies that instead of using USPS, they shipped them via FedEx. Out for delivery right now (since 4:15 am), so I should have them all by tonight.

Also, Darkness through GameFly ($12.99 into $32) may be appealing.

It has been said before...a store can do whatever it wants. They have the right to refuse any trade they want, even if you follow al the guidelines. It all has something to do with franchise stores vs independant stores. Any store has th right to refuse sale. Look what Nextel did...they refused service to excessive complainers....kind of the same policy. This has been discussed a LOT here about people getting banned or "holds" on account. Some stores don't seem to care, others are more "hip" to the situation.

I don't see how that is possible that they are doing anything corporate-wide or djkunai would have been banned long ago. I was told it was the DM in my case. I'm still waiting on the one store manager to talk to the DM - it was supposed to happen today. I'm not too keen on calling to find out what happened. I'm also still dealing with the missing Gamecrazy credit that I mentioned the other day. Of course they have not put it back on my card like they promised. All of these stores are starting to piss me off :bomb:.

Entirely possible - when I went to the store where I found out the issue was Beowulf trades, they just said it was out of their hands (though they put it on the DM). I could easily see the store just saying it came from "higher up" meaning the DM or corporate, or just using those interchangeably. It could also just be used to dismiss you without having to give any real reason. That's basically what they did to me at that store - yeah, I followed the trade guidelines but it wasn't their decision.

I'm similar. I stay quiet, but I've been abusing GameRush since its inception. Lately I've taken advantage of MM and MUA/Forza, and I haven't heard anything yet. This may be because I use regular BBs more often than GR, but I dunno. I was banned once about 3 years ago, but that went away after I stopped for 9-ish months and mgt changed at my usual stores.

Anyway, I'll mention it if I'm banned again.

Exactly, there were quite a few people who were able to pull off similar stunts or if not much much more than djkunai. Many of the first GR traders racked up 4-5k in a few months and I even knew of some employees who had 10-15k.


The only difference is now GR tends to be handing out bans and freezing accounts left and right for trading in a few copies of one game.

Ban? No no no. I'm pretty sure that BBI (Corperate) would hire mercenaries and put a price on your head. You better watch out for trip wires, bear traps, and make sure that Al Pacino is not in the car behind you fiddling with a remote detonator.

I left the maddens there just because they were on the stack, and asked if I could grab 2 more copies from my car. He said sure, so I kunaied 8 TW and 2 Maddens. Also, I only received 15 copies of Two Worlds and am expecting an additional 9 once they take off the "hold" status (through GameFly and Google Checkout).

Well when you posted you ordered 24 copies I was like this clown just keeps making his stories bigger and bigger. But then you post a receipt where you traded in 8 of them all at the same time..... WTF is up with your store? They all going to get fired when a DM eventually gets wind of this! Well I now doubt you alot less as this was very impressive.... Post a pic with times of when you bought all the Beowulfs with credit and then traded um all right back in for double without leaving. Then all will believe in your powers. :D

EDIT: Insane when you use that zip in the GR store finder you get 10 stores in 10 miles... :drool:

As well as being greedy you're proving yourself to not be very smart. You're receipt has the store identified on it, I know for a fact that BB corporate has been known to monitor the forums, I actually had the DM quote a post of mine once, after I was banned from the huntington beach GR. I'm not sure what you're gaining from being so boastfull, but I guarantee it's not attracting many fans.

so i went to another BB last nite i never been before, and signed up for membership w/ same card i had @ previous store. i expected the flag to carry over, but it didnt. is it because i never been there before? so anyway i traded in some games & put it on the current value card i have.

when i traded in MUA/Forza, i just put the games in separate cases & cut the litho in half. the manager was like he cant take this,since no barcodes. but i was like as long as the game/booklet is in there, u can just look it up. then i pointed it out to him in "line 6". he was like yea see need cover art, then i said look over to next part w/ games. he was kind of tight.

You have no idea what you're talking about. I was banned from three GR's in the very early days and it took me two years to undo the ban. I have every right to be pissed off by his behaviour, and the more he draws attention to himself the more he directly impacts me and everyone else. I have worked hard to create friendly relationships with the managers of my local GR's, and if corporate or the DM intervenes there is nothing they can do. I trade simply to buy more games, he is going way beyond that threshold, he's running a business. If anyone want's to take pot shots at me for my opinion it's kunai, the rest of you can only hope he doesn't piss in your pond.

I have store credit at the Blockbuster in Norwalk. But lets say they don't have a game I want but the Blockbuster in West Covina has it. Will my store credit from Norwalk transfer over to the one in West Covina?

No, the credit is store specific. you could try and buy gift cards, that works to transfer credit, but some managers may know the credit was from trades and refuse to do it. I don't think they can put it on a value card after the fact, but my expreience may have been due to a poorly trained employee and not any specific system limitation. The final option is to try and get the store to do a store to store transfer.

^ Tough call. I know that they don't take the PS3 guitar hero 3 game only because of that reason. It isn't in their system to look up, only the bundle is.

I've never been shy about letting people know which store I trade at (I've posted it several times, answered PMs regarding it, and even listed it at the bottom of the trade wiki), so if you're even remotely in the area you can take advantage of it as well.

Granted, I didn't need to trade in 8 copies at once, since I planned on doing 6 over 3 accounts like I typically do. It was a one time thing that saved the employee time and hassle (and the 2 copies would have been traded in today as another 6 over 3 accounts, and again on Sunday with the remaining copies). All the employees know me, and they all know the games are legally purchased, so while I have been pushing BB to the limit with my trades, I do so courteously, respectfully, and (of course) consistently.

In all honestly, as a CAG, I'm willing to have you guys ship me your games so I can trade them in, get the $5 bonus, and ship the value card back to you. I'm not trying to screw anyone over.

I adhere to their rules (which they can alter at any time as most of you know, except it's always in my favor), and I help out the employees there on a regular basis (got the manager his PSP, buy some of the others candy, Rockstar- it's schmoozing, and it's a small price to secure large profit). If they ask me to stop trading in a certain game, I do (HoV, Darkness, Madden 06). I've been doing mass trading for months, and the number I've flipped hasn't affected any CAG around me, and the fact Darkness and HoV haven't dropped, I don't think I've affected anyone.

Like most retailer expereinces, YMMV.

I'm either a CAG Villain or CAG Hero. YMMV.

Bought 3 copies of The Darkness on 360 and 3 Forza/MUA bundles from Gamestop with the B2G1F, traded 3 sets (1 Darkness, 1 Forza, 1 MUA) to 3 different BB's/GR's.

The BB nearest to me told me there was a "warning" on my account that showed I traded in 3 copies of Monster Madness, and that it's Kentucky law to not accept more than 1 copy of the same game for trade in a 1 month period at any store in KY. As this sounded like it was something completely made up and the "warning" didn't stop him from accepting the 3 games I brought in, I shrugged it off and said I traded multiples because I trade for my cousins who are under 18. Amusingly, the store I traded 4 copies of MM to made no mention of this warning when I traded there tonight. :D

I now have over $500 in credit, enough for a PS3, which is my goal. Wish I could find a BB/GR in my area that still has a 60GB in stock.

I just stuck the manual for each in the front of each case. They looked up the titles in the system. Pretty much painless, except for one noob employee who had to check with another employee to make sure they could accept MUA and Forza. He kept looking at the manual and the disc trying to find where it showed "not for resale", would've been hilarious if he denied me considering I had already successfully traded 2 copies of each to 2 other Block Busters...

I just stuck the manual for each in the front of each case. They looked up the titles in the system. Pretty much painless, except for one noob employee who had to check with another employee to make sure they could accept MUA and Forza. He kept looking at the manual and the disc trying to find where it showed "not for resale", would've been hilarious if he denied me considering I had already successfully traded 2 copies of each to 2 other Block Busters... lol i just cut the litho in half and put in separate cases & blacked out the "Not for resale" w/ black perm marker.

If on the application form you have a different driver's license # or you just write down a different one and they don't double check (you know write one incorrect #) then you can always get a new account. When ever new memberships are done we look them up by the license # for previous accounts. I've got some where around 25 BB accounts now...

Apparently, I missed my GameFly shipment (three Two Worlds and one Darkness). What sucks is that I ordered Shadowrun a couple of days after my first set and I just got that in the mail today.:roll:

Stopped by a BB/GR in Garden Grove and traded in my MUA/Forza 2 bundle (substituting manuals for covers) and PS3 version of Darkness without a cover (not entirely accurate, I printed a 360 cover and used that;)). What I noticed was that employees new to trading (meaning first time they've had to process a trade) are more willing to accept trades. I was shot down at a BB/GR because of the MUA/Forza 2 missing cover art and the PS3 Darkness. The BB/GR I went to today simply said "check the disc" and didn't blink an eye to the missing cover art:D.

Oh, and the main reason I'm typing this is to say that I scored a fairly decent condition copy of Pikmin 2 at this particular BB/GR (sorry, no more). No manual but the cover art is there and the disc is in excellent condition. Suffice to say, I severely regret trading my brand new copy of Pikmin 2 that I purchased from GR more than a year ago (when certain GC games were half price new). It's in the past though, and sending a hoarde of red pikmin into the water to drown has never felt better:twisted:.

Now, if I could just decide whether or not to pull the trigger on a 80GB PS3 or the 60GB version...........

The "ban" you received was simply from that specific store. A corporate ban will stick with your account no matter where you go. I've only heard of 3 accounts ever receiving corporate bans. One of them was because they were trading in stolen merchandise (they would steal movies from one Blockbuster and then go to the one down the street and trade them in). I don't remember the specifics of the other 2, but I believe one of them was here on CAG (they got an official letter from corporate and everything).

Heh - it seemed like everyone moved on from MM. I actually was able to trade my last copy in yesterday to a far-flung BB where they had never heard of my troubles ;).

I skipped the whole Forza/MUA thing as it seemed like WAY too much trouble/work just to convert useful credit into useless credit (even at double/triple or whatever). First having to find 3 copies at the same EB/GS (for B2G1), then having to spread those around to the places I could still trade at (which means driving a 40-50 mile loop) before Tuesday - not worth it in the slightest. I figured, sure, I can maybe get a handful of future new release games at Blockbuster for $50-$60. But then I could just wait for those same games to drop to $20-$30 and use my EB/GS credit on them then (amounting to the same "doubling" of credit) - then all that time buying/trading games would pretty much be for naught.

Also, I still haven't called to see what's up with lifting the trade restrictions on my account. I did find out that my little local store had the same note on my account, but the guy there said he'd remove it himself if I get the OK from the other store (where the manager was going to talk to the DM). If I can get my trade accounts back at these 2 closest stores that's good enough for me. I wouldn't have bothered doing another 4 store trade-in anyway as it wasn't worth the hassle BEFORE my account got restricted, let alone afterwards.

The first red flag was the fact that only the manager can do trades... over he comes and starts scrutinizing the disks like he worked for the wherehouse (they are fussy bastards, not a single scratch is allowed). He quickly (well actually rather slowly) rejects 4 of the 6 items I had, because of tiny chips on the outside edges of the disks. My theory about this is that gamefly routinely resurface the disks they sell, and their process scrapes the edges of the disks. He accepts two of the 6 games I had (Forza & Two worlds), both duplicates of copies I wanted to keep. So screw him, they were what I really wanted to trade. Makes me take my license out of my wallet, this is a real sign of a major prick, and matches line by line my information.

He completes my trade, but if red flags are flying this guy is painting them red. It' the store in Costa Mesa on Harbour if anyone wants to avoid being hassled.

He did the trades easily even though many of games were missing covers. I didnt even have a trading account at that store, he just put the money on the rush card.

I have the first warning for traders in the SoCal area (includes you too Kunai). The store in La Mirada (Imperial and La Mirada) has a new manager who is actively looking for reasons to suspend accounts. He accused me of "scamming" Blockbuster because I traded in a Beowulf when they were selling for $20. I only traded in two copies to that location (on different days). I don't believe that this is an area wide ban, only a store specific (and possibly Beowulf specific) ban. The store manager's name is Stephen (with Store Manager on the nametag) so if you see him and plan on flipping some games, come back when he's not there. I'm not really worried because I have a variety of stores I can go to, but it's pretty deceptive to say I was "scamming" anyone. It's not my fault that some genius at corperate decides to change TIVs on Tuesday when selling prices are changed on Sunday. WTF?!

Nevermind all that; you're trading games to Blockbuster under their own terms. It is completely legitimate. Stock traders do it everyday, as does every other businessman in the world. You buy low and sell high. It would be unfair for Blockbuster to make a policy that you MUST take a loss when trading games to them.

I think someone else reported MM has already dropped to $8 so I would imagine the new values take effect as soon as the store opens on Tuesday.

I need to check my Target for a price drop on Tony Hawk. They had a whole endcap of them the last time I was there. If they've dropped to $12 or lower that would be great flip fodder for BB.

As far as guilt goes, I'd say as long as they're willing to give you the credit keep doing what you're doing guilt free. If they had a sign up that said you weren't allowed to do more than two trades with a single game title across all regional Blockbuster stores, I'd feel guilty for flipping. But there's no such sign.

Some Blockbuster corporate guy who is in charge of these prices is probably leaving a small window open for some of these flipping deals. . . I wonder why.

The associates in store seemed to be more strict about online and in store rentals and restricting the ability to trade in the mail rentals for instore rentals. Oh well.

I'll keep flipping when I see a good one come along, but it's not a huge deal if it goes away. I have not received any flac for any of my flips from anyone in stores (KC area).

I decided to stick with my Total Access (online) account despite the price increase and E-Coupon removal. I'm not really bothered by the limit of in store exchanges (mainly because I have about four or five BB/GRs within close proximity. Should they go up again, I will definitely reconsider.

The "ban" you received was simply from that specific store. A corporate ban will stick with your account no matter where you go. I've only heard of 3 accounts ever receiving corporate bans. One of them was because they were trading in stolen merchandise (they would steal movies from one Blockbuster and then go to the one down the street and trade them in). I don't remember the specifics of the other 2, but I believe one of them was here on CAG (they got an official letter from corporate and everything). thx for the explanation. im kind of new to the BB scenario. seems like i only go in there to do trading. lol. just trying to work my way up to a ps3. :D

At our store we just flat out stopped taking the fortza and marvel games cause employees at other stores were stealing them and trading them in. together they trade for $47.

Not every store does this though so if you want to try to trade them in do this. You DON'T need to have the barcode to trade in a game. Gamerush only requires that you have the disc. So what you can do is just bring the discs (with or without the manuals) in empty (but seperate) cases and trade them in as is there. Employees can look up the game in the system database and trade it manually.

If your gamerush won't let you do that you should call customer care on them and they will take care of you.

I had to talk them into typing it manually and it helped that I had the receipt from the GR that DID manage to scan the game correctly. I think it's that the GR database doesn't have a listing for the UPC of the Limited edition.

Looks like i'll be doing disc only trades until i'm out of Tony Hawks!

They are still fetching $35 a piece.

On a lesser note, my GR that is closest to me (Monrovia, CA) had a note on my trade account not to accept any trades. Unfortunate as I only traded 2x MMs to them and a bunch of good games (Assassins Creed/Dirt, etc). Will this "note" go away with time, or is there anything else I can do that is short of making a whole new account?

Most likely yes. The stores aren't linked for some reason, so notes added are only able to be seen at that store unless a District Manager adds a note on your account then that would be added to every store in the district.

Just a heads up for those who are still looking for some classic GC games, I believe that Pikmin 2 is now being removed from rental inventory and stores are now possibly placing them in PRP (used games). I've picked up my second copy for $14.99 and all stores are now Pikmin 2-less when it comes to rentals.

Just bought $200 worth of gift cards to donate to my son's preschool for their charity auction. So I finally found a decent use for a good chunk of my credit. They tried to tell me I couldn't buy gift cards with gift cards (since I was using some odd-valued ones and wanted the $20 or $50 "branded" ones to donate), but they let me do it when I told them what it was for. Wow, crazy day. Insanity ensues:

Was going to hit up CC, but I left at 4:15 so I decided to check GS instead. Found 4 copies of MUAF2. Headed up to my GR. Traded them in for $208 n credit (from $77). Ran into abductedvision (henceforth "AV") (who was picking up his Wii). Called a different GR to find a 360 holiday bundle and they had one, and offered me a Wii as well. Picked up both, AV tagged along shortly. We decided to hit up more GS for MUAF2. Found 3 copies at one place, then another 2 at another GS. While there, this trio was trading in a huge stack of PSP/PS3/PS2 games. They wanted a DS, but the store was out. I offered them a pink DS and $20 cash for the entire stack, and another $30 for their broken PSP. They agreed. Took the stack of games over to GR and traded in most of them. Got $297 in credit (from what cost me initially about $70 cash).

Total spent: $137 and a pink DS (which cost $50 cash)
Received: $537 GR credit and a fixable PSP

I picked up a couple MUA/Forza 2 sets to get a little trade credit at BB (Only have 1 Blockbusters within about 50 miles). Every time I've tried to trade just 1 in the employee in the front doesn't know how to do trades and calls in a manager, who then denies me trade because its always the same short haired bitch who on a whim tells me "its illegal to trade in games without cover art" and then walks away. I've printed cover art for the separate games, included everything necessary, as well as pointed out that about 1/4 of the games they're selling don't have cover art...yet still no dice.

Any CGers be willing to accept 2 Forza's and 3 MUA's in exchange for a few Darkness or Two Worlds or whatever's trading in decent games that would go over without a hitch? It would really be much appreciated and I'll pay for the media shipping. Potentially I would send about $110 worth of trade-in for something that could equal up to $90 trade and throw in a couple bucks for whatever shipping costs (and it'd make me very happy to spite the bitch that has continually rejected me in trading in games). Just bought $200 worth of gift cards to donate to my son's preschool for their charity auction. So I finally found a decent use for a good chunk of my credit. They tried to tell me I couldn't buy gift cards with gift cards (since I was using some odd-valued ones and wanted the $20 or $50 "branded" ones to donate), but they let me do it when I told them what it was for. They even tried to get me the bonus cards but I guess that promo is over as he scanned it and it didn't work. I wish I had tried this a week ago ;).

I still haven't bothered calling about my trading account hold. I don't know, I kind of feel free not even thinking of trading games there any more. Maybe it was a good thing :lol:.

You should call, it's going to drive you nuts to watch this thread but not be able to participate. Now Xmas is over and most people are back at work you should have better luck talking to the DM. You're clearly a reasonable, eloquent sort of guy, so I suspect a short conversation will clear it all up for you.

Its $15 for project sylpheed and bullet witch sells for $24.99 used so I would imagine it only trades in for $15 or less. Cruddy flipping value IMO.

Well, that's a little more clear, thank you. The $5 thing is not a big deal to 99% of us since most stores stopped doing that over a year ago. Though it seems odd to ban the trade account if the store offers the customer the $5 bonus - they are punishing the customer for a mistake by the Blockbuster employee :-s. Leaving djkunai out of it, what if some random person who knew nothing of how all this worked was given the bonus at that store - they'll be banned?

As for multiple games of the same title on the same transaction, I (and most others) never thought that was a good idea to begin with. It seems djkunai only did it because he was encouraged to do so by various BB employees.

While I don't work til tomorrow, I doubt there's a communication about anything except the $5 bonus. Most likely, this is a store/district thing, spurred on by the actions of traders in the area. I don't think anyone will be affected, besides stores limiting kunai to 2 per day.

Hey, I'm all for BB/GR having better inventory management and limiting trade-ins of "exploitable" games. But that is all there should be to it - just a rejection of particular trades if there are too many in the store or whatever. Either that or they should just get on top of the trade-in values and truly only offer what the games are worth to them. Once a store accepts trades from a customer, though, it is entirely unfair to ban them after the fact as long as they did nothing wrong according to the "Trading Terms and Conditions" form we all signed (which would exclude trading more than 2 copies of a single game per day so I guess that one is fair game). If they suspect theft (ie, that the only way you could get multiples of a game to trade is to steal them from some other place - how naive, by the way ;)) then they ought to request proof of purchase before letting the customer trade again. But no, instead of calling you to clear it up they mark the account like you are a thief and then don't tell you about it unless you press them for it.

Try calling a store that's further away but still in the same area. For example, if I needed a trade price early in the morning so I can hit up a B&M store when they open, I'd just call a store on the east coast at 8am since they'll be open (I'm on the west coast and all my stores would be closed).

The closest BB is about 20 miles ( I live in the country, somewhat).

At school there is only one BB in the area, and it is a Franchise that doesn't buy games. The next closest is 25 minutes away in Saginaw.

Somewhat interesting experience at BB a couple of days ago:

I traded in a copy of Two Worlds for $32. Of course, I ask for the credit to be placed on a gift (not value) card. Cashier tells me that the credit cannot be placed on a gift card, and then proceeds to pull out a stack of what looked like used or discarded value cards and pulls out the top one. He tries to scan the card, but something seems a little off (you notice the small things after flipping full time). The receipt he hands me states that the $32 was placed on my account. The cashier then uses GBAL (value checking) and tells me that somehow my value card (which the cashier handed me) has $40 for some odd reason. Well, I thought that maybe the used card had $8 on it and my $32 was added.

Today, however, I asked if there was any credits/balances on my account and apparently, the $32 from the trade is still there. In essence, the cashier handed me an extra $40 value card for no reason. Now if I could just (without breaking any laws) get my hands on the stack of used cards......;)

Can anyone explain why a used/discarded value card would still have credit on it? You'd think they would zero things out before handing them out again. I might go trade in some more stuff just to see if I could get some used value cards. :D

Interesting stuff. Could care less how the giftcard bill goes (although I'm sure the majority of us would prefer it to be approved), but I really like the other one. Make retailers obtain the rebates and we get the instant gratification. Works for me.

This rarely happens but sometimes when people aren't paying attention they will leave a Value Card at the store and they can be reused. But you lucked out and got an employee that did the rare double dip. Basically, the employee probably didn't know how to add the credit to the card so it first went to your account then he or she did the transaction again by adding to your Value Card so it happens just once in a while.

By the way, the store that had the PS3 is well aware of the <$10 giftcard law. It's real people!

The GR near me almost always has basically the same stock of used games so I don't think very many people trade/flip which could be good for any future flippables that come along.
