All I know is, when I was in BIOS one day, my XP 3000 was running at I think 110 degrees farenheit. I may have read it wrong, butit does run pretty hot.

I think that most AMDs can run at up to 60 C fine, but I wouldnt want to let mine get that hot. My P4 2.4 has never gone over like 45 C and is usually around 35 C. I just know that AMD runs alot hotter than intel usually.

My 2.8Ghz Pent 4 runs at 145F (62.8C) regularly under load... but I'm looking that up to see if that's hotter then normal.

well, i currently have it runnin at 2800+ 2.15 gigs @ 40 C (aroudn 104 F)...is that good?
lol, i bought a cheap case and the circulation isnt good so the CPU overheated, but now i just open the case and use an external fan to try to keep the CPU cool, haha
do you guys think i can crank it up to 2.4 ghz

bump...c'mon guys i know there's a TON of you guys who know more about computers than i do
AMDs can run extremely hot, I'd say you could do it.

when you say "can," do you mean they "tend to run extremely hot" or do you mean "they are able to run extremely hot and not have any problems"?
kind of ambiguous

Before you attempt anything like this make sure you've got cooling down to a science. Just a few SECONDS at a high teperature will ruin your Processor & maybe your motherboard, voiding the warranty in the mean time.

my cpu runs at 38-45 normally C, HD at 36-40 C, and inside case usually around 30 C. these are generally pretty decent for a P4 from what I know.

what do you consider "high temperature" for my setup, so i can make sure to try to prevent it from happening?

My amd runs at that, plus mabye 2 degres or so, I was kinda wondering what I could do with it, its a amd2500 or some such.
