I do not think RE:DA is part of the gun survivor series. The second one was never released here.
Gamefaqs refers to it as RE: Gun Survivor 2: Code Veronica

Hang on were going on a rollercoaster ride.
Gun Survivor 1 is the ps title, Resident Evil Survivor
Gun Survivor 2 is in the arcade and is also on the ps2 though i've never seen it and is a dream which basically reflects parts of RE: CV
Gun Survivor 3 is Dino Stalker which is in the Dino Crisis series
Gun Survivor 4 is RE: Dead Aim

This may be a dumb question, but do the PS1 games work with the Guncon2?
punqsux
08-03-2004, 06:55 PM
no, there are guns that will work with diffrent kinds of games, but heres how it breaks up:
light gun games - a light gun that plugs into a controller port. all non namco ps1 games are light gun games i believe
guncon games - namco ps1 games, timecrisis and point blank (oddly enough, the ps2 game endgame will work with a guncon 1
guncon 2 games - all ps2 gun games.
like i said, they make guns that do all 3 of these.

True, true. But maybe if they sold it as a standalone $20 or $30 budget title? I think there'd would be an audience that would pay that much for the package, but would be highly hesitant to spend $60 on that and a Guncon.
Maybe if TC2, TC3 and Crisis Zone sales get high enough we'll see an announcement.

hey punqsux, I'm curious as to how many gun controllers you have. do you have that one you provided a link for? I may have to pick one up to play those PSone titles and I'd like to know if its definately a good one. Oh and any insight on a lightgun with a pedal? Or on the PS2 TCs, can you do the same thing as in the PSone and just step on the controller in the second port?

but as soon as i get some money im gunna pick up 2 of those guns from the link provided, because they sound sweet, so the better be good =op
ive seen guns with pedals but i never used them, i dont like alot of wires everywhere.
for the ps2 time crisis games, there is a d-pad on the back of the gun and you hold up on it to look out and shoot, it works REALLY well.

If you've not played Elemental Gearbolt , it's easily the BEST lightgun game for the PS1 - not to mention insanely difficult towards the end.

Ok, what do you guys make of this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21188&item=8122480 227&rd=1
This auction is for a "PS2 Cyber Gun." It makes a point to emphasize that it works on ALL PlayStation 1 and 2 gun games. Read further and you see that the gun has "Normal," "Guncon," and "Guncon 2" modes. And you'll notice that the pic shows a video jack, a USB cable, and a nomal PS controller cable. I'm guessing the only reason it would have all three of those is that it really does support all three types of gun games. Whaddaya think? It comes to $21 shipped which seems pretty cool (plus I wasn't crazy about that bright pink one at Estarland :P ).
MeGaWC27
08-05-2004, 02:56 PM
well I prefer getting the official ones (unless I know for sure that they'll work...) and the fact that I hate ebay.
Can't really see the d-pad and the pic doesn't show the different outlets actually being connected with the guncon, so be careful about that and hope you get the gun you wanted.

end game wouldnt be such a horrible gun game if it didnt litterally load for 30 seconds between each SECTION of an area.
example:
You;re shooting guys in your apartment and dive out the window or something to the street...Loading... you fight guys in the street then run to the train station .... Loading.... you fight through the train station to the train..... Loading.... WTF did they never hear of streaming data??
It's a shame since the graphics arnt half bad and they have the bonus cartoony shooter game (whichhas the same crappy loading issues) but if you can stand it go ahead and buy it just dont pay more than 10 bucks for it.

For some reason light gun game reviews (only ones I have read have been for the ps2), are usually horrible especially from the "big" review sites. I remember passing up ninja assault a bunch of times because pretty much every review said it sucked, but that game is great. Apparently a lot of people don't know what an arcade gun game is supposed to be like and thus rate it badly.

You're right Scrubking, Ninja Assualt is a pretty decent game. I played it in the arcades and on the PS2. What the reviewers don't like about it is that they think ninja with guns is just too farfetched to believe.

I'd vote Crisis Zone. And when EB starts selling them used, use AFF25 and snag a "used" copy cheap. When I did that with TC3, the stuff was basically new. I'm guessing that not a lot of people sell back a full GunCon set to EB, and it's better for them to just eat the $5 (AFF25 not withstanding) by selling it "used".

You;re shooting guys in your apartment and dive out the window or something to the street...Loading... you fight guys in the street then run to the train station .... Loading.... you fight through the train station to the train..... Loading.... WTF did they never hear of streaming data??
It's a shame since the graphics arnt half bad and they have the bonus cartoony shooter game (whichhas the same crappy loading issues) but if you can stand it go ahead and buy it just dont pay more than 10 bucks for it.
thats not a fair description. yes there is a bit of load times, but id say they're closer to 10 seconds.
and the setup is more
gameplay section
VERY short cinema
loading
repeat
its a decent game, i dig it, its just a time crisis ripoff but if youre gunna rip off a game, at least rip off the best ^^
You're right 30 seconds is a bit of an over estimation. I suppose if the cinemas were a little longer I could stand the constant loading, but the way it's set up the constant loading breaks the flow and just takes you out of the game. But as I said thats my only real problem with it, out side of that I'd say it was an okay title to own if you;re really into the gun game genre.

Yea I'm going to order a used TC3 after I get deposit my check tomorrow. Luckily theres quite a few left last time I checked. Question though..I can just use a different email and open another account under the same name correct? Cause my account I have now used up all the AFF25s it can back when they still had free shipping.

Not sure how many times you can use it. But it will say you have used the maximum allowed AFF25 or something. I used it quite a lot cause I got a bunch of GBA and PS2 games and I kept doing it in single orders. Using another email worked fine though. Just did it now.

dead aim is like all resident evil games, in third person when walkin, opening doors, and pickin items. but when you encounter an enemy, you can use the guncon and enter 1st person and shoot them. I heard you are given limited bullets and there are puzzles as well. Nonetheless I wanna try this game out, would be fun to play in the dark and shoot the zombies in the head :D
P.S.
I heard people saying the game is bad because it's too short but nearly all guncon games are short.

I was lucky enough to snag a $5 Dead Aim from BB online. It does feel like any RE game with little puzzles..though ts mostly finding keys/switches to open doors to the next section. I wouldn't say the bullets are limited though cause every save point room has 6 boxes bullets that refreshes when you re-enter the room. Certainly a fun experience. I only played an hour or so into the game cause I wanna play the rest through with a Guncon2.
But yea I'm sorta pissed that I ordered Endgame and Dino Stalker last week and now they're having a B2G1 sale. Too late to cancel and I could have got something for free. Oh well, I'll probably get use the sale to complete my Guncon collection.

2 Things...
First - Does anyone know if an original Guncon will work with Ninja Assault? I know it will with Time Crisis 2 and Vampire Night - but I've had no experience with any other ps2 titles.
Second - import gungame that nobody has mentioned - Rescue Shot Bubido. This is a ps1 Guncon game that Namco put out. Pretty strange actually - a rabbit that looks kinda like Doraemon hops through stages while you protect him by shooting falling objects and capping odd looking foes while shooting magic mushroom powerups etc. I guess it's sort of story driven, but I know absolutely 0 Japanese. However, it's not required to get the gist of what you need to do - like all gun games - SHOOT EVERYTHING!

Can't think of a catchy name at the moment but don't forget arcade lightgun games that never made it to console i.e. Jurassic Park, Gunblade, Ocean Hunter, etc. I'll gladly help out with info/research if need be. Theres quite a few arcade only games that you happen to run into here and there. Going to Vegas every year and being under 21, I've seen quite a few of them. My cousin has the scorpion3. The laser is pretty much a novelty and the gun just feels too thick. Those Wireless guns look pretty cool cause they're rechargeable and all but I think since its imported, the a/c adapter/plug might be not be US friendly. After looking at it and reading that it also has kickback, I knew they were one in the same. You definately need to get a pedal now Punq. If that goes through for 2 for $17, you think you could see if the seller would give you 2 more at the same price? I'll buy them off you for $25 if you could.

Yeah it pretty much does...it does not work well at all for the game it is named after. And while the shotgun breakdown is pretty cool for HotD 2+3, it gets pretty heavy after awhile thanks to the extra weight over a pistol model.

That machine gun is huge. If you really wanted something special though, you can import UZI lightguns. But I'm just glad Namco decided to release Crisis Zone. Chronologically it was in the arcades before TC3, but wasn't very popular. So I guess they had to update it and such to TC3 standards. The PS2 Crisis Zone has way better graphics than the arcade version and a lot of other improvements. Dual gun mode sold me.

Besides Time Crisis 2&3 (which I've played many times in the local arcade), what are the best lightgun games for PS2?
I'm going to assume that the low pricepoint on EndGame means it sucks, and I've heard that Ninja Assault isn't that great either. My preconception is that RE: Dead Aim and Vampire Night are the two best games (besides the Time Crisis series).
Any suggestions/critisisms on the few lightgun games available for PS2?

I'd say in my experience, the next best is indeed Vampire Night. Dino Stalker and Dead Aim aren't that bad really at all. I haven't played ninja Assualt enough to pass a complete judgement probably. However, all of them may be stepped over by Crisis Zone when it hits shelves.
CouRageouS
08-12-2004, 05:02 PM
Endgame is alright for what it is but I have to say outside of TC, Vampire Night and Ninja Assault are the winners. If not just for the entertainment value they can bring alone then for the two player joy it can bring. A lot of people complain about Ninja Assault being short or whatnot, but its still a high quality game. Dead Aim is certainly fun but I wouldn't rank it high up there with the Namco shooters. Just imagine a regular RE game except you do all the shooting in first person with a Gun. Not enough action to where you'll play it over and over like the Namco shooters. It was also extremely easy. You could beat it in about an hour if you don't kill everything. I haven't got my copy Dino Stalker in the mail yet, but it looks to have a lot more action than Dead Aim. Sure hope it does.

My copy of Time Crisis 3 (with guncon2) should be arriving on my porch in a little under 2 hours, give or take. I can't wait to play it.
I also picked up Dino Stalker at EB Games while they were doing the Buy2Get1 free deal on preowned (my stepbrother got the other two games, making mine only five bucks :-p, after splitting the free price-point).
Best Buy should be shipping my $5.00 RE: Dead Aim sometime within the next week, so all that I have left to get are Vampire Night and Ninja Assault. I guess I should have picked up those two and Time Crisis 2 online during the B2G1 deal. Oh well.

Just wait till you unlock Rescue Mission mode in TC3. Surprisingly fun and prolongs the game. Are you also gonna get Endgame and Starsky and Hutch or do you have them already? I say since your investing in a GunCon2, might as well pick up all 8 games since half of them are can be found under $15. And consider getting a second gun for 2 player and dual gun modes. Punq actually got me a pair of the same green Desert Eagle lightguns he got from ebay, but the desert eagles are the same as the black Missions just different color and marked under a different name. You could pick them up from lik-sang or play-asia from around $20 something.
And yea the GC2 only works with PS2 games cause it hooks up to the USB port. To play older games, you need a Gun that goes into the controller port. Most import guns have the double plug (USB/Controller), allowing you to play either.

You'll be all set for 2 Player though! And theres 8 PS2 games, 9 come October when Crisis Zone releases. I don't think the fact that it only works with PS2 games is anything to hold against it. I'll mention this since it hasnt been. I've only done this with TC 1 but I did it on both a PS1 and a PS2 so I figure it'll work with all games. If you play single player style you can plug a playstation steering wheel into second player and use it's foot pedals as a peak and hide foot pedal, give you an arcade feel if you dont want to buy a non-gun con gun with a optional pedal.

The way you worded your question is a little off. But I'll try to answer as best I can. The first controller port is your pedal to the first USB port. So if you were using 2 GunCon2s (they only connect through USB) when you play 2 player split screen, the first and second controller port would be the pedal ports for their respective USB ports. I think that should answer your question.
punqsux
08-25-2004, 07:53 PM
for the missons you need to have the controller port because the controller port provides the power for the recoil action. or you can just use the gun w/o recoil

So can you play TC3 with recoil? Isn't it GC2/USB only?ok heres how the gun works:
when its set on guncon 2 mode, you have to have the Video and the usb plugged in to use the gun
if you want to use the recoil on the gun, you have to plug the controller port from the gun into the ps2.
you can plug it in either port, since all youre using it for is to transfer power to the gun to set off the recoil action.

lik-sang charges at the cheapest $13 for shipping and it'll take 2-4 weeks to get to the US and candada. I dont know if I want to pay an extra $13 for the Mission light gun only especially if it'll take that long,b ut I may have to. Haven't seen it anywhere else.
That's not good. Is the thing available anywhere else to ya'lls knowledge?

I know the Go! Cyber Shop sells the Mission Gun, but I think it's near $28 dollars and I have no idea how much their shipping is so it may be a couple dollars more than lik-sang. However, it shouldn't take 2 weeks or whatever to get to you.

I see some Madcatz guns at EB/Gamestop all the time. They're blue with like a double handle (machine-gun style) and they have a Guncon/Guncon2/other switch. Plus there's a d-pad on the back of the gun. They were $30 each new... that actually seems a bit more than some of these other deals. Anyway, does anyone know if those are any good? I'm still not sure if I'll wait a couple years for the inevitable Guncon3 or if I'll take the plunge now...

You can get it at Go! Cyber and Lik-sang for $33, but lik-sang will take 4-6 weeks. That consolefever.com looks like the best buy so far, but has anyone used it before?

Yeah actually after shipping it's 33 at consolefever.com too. Though I'm still curious to see if anyone has ever used them before?

I've read horrible reviews of the Madcatz Blaster. $30 for it is WAY too much too. CC.com has it for $19.99 but I still would suggest against it. I can't stress enough to anyone who doesn't have a GunCon2 and wants one to just pick up a used TC3 w/Guncon2 from ebgames.com. You can get it for under $40 still using 15% off. Not to mention they give you a NEW copy and free 3 Day shipping. The second best option is TC2 w/ GC2 at outpost.com for $29.99 (+$5 shipping?).
Take the plunge man! Last month I went all out and got RE: Dead Aim, TC3 w/gun, Dino Stalker, Endgame, Ninja Assault all in the period of 2 weeks and I think it was worth it! And it all started cause I got that damn RE: DA for $5 from BB.com.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure someone must have mentioned this... but I'm too lazy to loook through the pages, so I'll just ask it here:
How would you set up a light gun?
Is it just plug in and ur done, or are there complicated connections?
Do you need a special TV to play it, or will anything work?

Time Crisis 2 got here today (go Outpost, really fast shipping) and much fun was had. Now I just need another gun and a game or two and I'm set!

They're black, technically, the green ones aren't really Mission light guns if my understanding is correct, they are modeled exactly the same as the mission light gun (or vice versa).

there are 2 plugs for a guncon 2.
one goes into the video input on your tv/vcr, and the other goes into the ps2 usb port.
the guncon 1 is almost the same, but instead of the usb port, it goes into the controller port.
the green gun pictured above (and many 3rd party guns) have all 3 cords, but you only NEED a combonation of the 2
